Hi Needles and welcome :o

Cookies I haven't done much shopping yet but we also might move... so that can be the excuse for lack of organisational skills....

I'm also in love with some of the Stokke stuff but the price is crazy! And I really do not like their buggy... it looks too freaky for me!

And I need a swimming costume but can't find one now ... might have to order online... A lot of them seem to be Tankini style which isn't my favourite, I'd rather have a simple one-piece, does anyone have any recommendations for tankini vs one-piece??

StateofConfusion · 10/08/2012 16:17

Had my scan today, everythings good, baby is very active and wouldn't lie still long enough or in the correct posistion for the sonographer to check all of the heart --i didn't drink lucozade this morning, no not me--. She said everything appears perfect but I get another scan in 12days to check and they will check the sex if possible as legs were firmly crossed today . Did go shopping and get a little white outfit and my mum got a lovely jacket for it.

Boots have a 1/2price sale atm also if anyones interested!

Barbeasty · 10/08/2012 16:32

Nutella Jojobebemaman have an all in one which I've found really good. Not cheap (£26) but comfy and sturdy enough when DD decides to use the top to cling onto.

Loving all the names. We're going with Anthony. I hate Ant, and Tone but can cope with Tony. But DD can't quite say Anthony and yesterday,as her compromise (has been adament the baby will be called Baby!) she said the baby would be called Baby Anti, which I actually quite like, so there's hope yet.

I made a list today of the things we'll need to buy. Although I'll have to get DH up in the roof to get down our existing bits to go through what we already have. It's a start!

MyDaydream · 10/08/2012 16:40

Spotty thanks for your help, I've looked online but the reviews mostly seemed to be posted by women who've not given birth yet, or who have used it a couple of times. Really happy to hear that yours has held up so well.
cookies I shouldn't really have bought as much as I did, but if it means I only need to buy some cheap long sleeve t-shirts to go underneath my tops for the rest of my pregnancy it'll be worth it. Having a clear out at the weekend and I'm going to sell some stuff to put towards my buy though.
Needles welcome! Congratulations on your pregnancy.
state congratulations on your scan, are you going back just to find out the sex or did they miss some bits because baby was being so wriggly?

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 10/08/2012 16:49

Cookies, we had a great time we went as it opened so it was manic for only the last half hour thankfully! Kids loved it but ds got a bit funny I couldn't do the slides with him (even though he's been doing them alone since he was 3) because of the baby! Ddade some progress putting her head under and going under fountains so it was a very successful trip by all accounts!

I came home and slept for 2 hours, then decided we hadn't had enough exercise and as I had stuff to post we would walk to the post office (just over a mile away) I promised the dcs ice creams/lollies when we were there (which tbh they would have got when the ice cream can came round later anyway) and they only moaned a bit about the heat! I personally was melting (literally sweat pouring down the inside of my legs yuck!) but I think it did them some good! Otherwise they would have spent the whole afternoon lazing around!

My feet need propping up now, they are huge!!

Welcome to our newbie (baby brain does not allow me to retain information for more than 3seconds sorry Blush)!

monsterchild · 10/08/2012 16:53

I'm fairly new, I think I was on one of the long gone threads. We had our anatomy scan and everything looked peachy. With the blood test and ultrasound Dr said likelihood of trisomy is 1:30,000. Since that risk is lower than the risk of miscarriage from amniocentesis, we have decided to forgo amnio.
Anyone else have these thoughts?

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 10/08/2012 17:02

1in 30,000 is a pretty slim chance tbh I wouldn't risk amnio for that personally.

FriendofDorothy · 10/08/2012 17:22

I read somewhere that the risk of miscarriage from amnio was something like 1 in 100. Way too high for me to feel comfortable about anyway!

SpottyTeacakes · 10/08/2012 18:01

Welcome Needles, you must have your scan in a couple of weeks, are you going to find out the gender?

Great news on the scan State

MrDaydream my sister and best friend also have the same cot Grin

monster I wouldn't have an amnio with that risk factor either

Hot weather = fat feet Hmm

SpottyTeacakes · 10/08/2012 18:52

Just bought my first 'big' purchase - breast pump - tick!

kate2boysandabump · 10/08/2012 19:15

Welcome Needles

Have been out for the last 2 days, spent yesterday at a kids party in the park and spent most of the time chatting and eating a lovely picnic, while the kids played. Today I have been sitting in my friends garden, chatting and eating cake while the children played. Are you noticing a theme here? Wink

I second the Jojo Maman Bebe swimsuit, I was lucky enough to get one in the sale half price. They aren't on the website, but if you're near a shop they might have one in store.

It's DH's birthday tomorrow, so I have baked a cake, it's sooo hard not to scrape the bowl. I'm hardly baking at all, as I can't have my little reward after.

Feeling the heat today, I feel light headed every time I walk around outside, I'm just relieved it's not hotter than this.

Monster We aren't offered any further tests our area, unless your results are less than 1 in 500. As yours are considerably higher than this, so I think your decision is fine.

Bubbless · 10/08/2012 19:22

cookies jelous of anyones with more than 3 tops, 1 trousers and 1 leggings that fit them! however- cant really justify buying anymore because i can just about make it work!!

needles welcome, if you dont mind me asking why arnt you expected to make to to jan?

barbesty my dads name is Anthony, and me and my DP love it but hate my dad so i can honestly say nice name choice!

stacey sounds like a very busy day! wait until you hear about my day later.. total..opposite!
congrats on your breast pump purchase!

monster im sorry but i had no idea what the 1:30,000 is refering to- but i hope everything is okay! :)

i am unashamed to admit that i have spent all day in my bra and pants wondering around the house in this extreme heat!!

very upset with dp though, hes finished work, walked home, got changed and walked straight back out the door again to go and play footie with his mates.. he barely said hello :(
however, im probs BU- for the past two nights ive wanted sex, but not told him this fact or made any effort to 'come onto' him, and then been grumpy he hasent tried it on with me..... im so hormonal at the moment.. Hmm

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 10/08/2012 19:38

Bubbless I'm glad it's not just me who expects DH to be a mind reader about when I do/don't want sex, not sure how they win though!!

Cookiesandcream06 · 10/08/2012 19:44

Welcome needles Smile

stacey I got out of the 'come on the slide with me mummy' argument as it was closed- mwa ha. Her usual reply to such things is usually 'But the baby WANTS to go on the slide' so glad I didn't have to fight that battle. She too was much better than usual with running through fountains/water in her eyes situation, hoping to start her with swimming lessons soon. Yey for the successful trips! My feet are also huge, and i've not done anywhere near the walking you have! i feel like a whale already.

bubbles i have been sat in a similar position, fanning myself with a hand fan (shameless to say my face wasnt the only body part I fanned Blush while I tried to get DD to occupy herself so I didn't have to move around to play with her (bad mum). I do not blame you, IT'S TOO HOT/MUGGY. My under-boob is absolutely vile right now (TMI!) I had a similar experience with DP- came in from work and announced he was going striaght out for a run Angry and now he has had a call from a customer he has to go and fix their toilet, so i don't think i'll really see him tonight.

yey spotty for breast pump purchase (v uselful and practical purchase too) may I ask which one you went for? I was too stingy last time round and bought a manual one, am thinking of investing in an electric one this time.

monster that's a really good result isn't it??

Has anyone bought a maternity bra yet?? I swear I had invested one by this point last time, but Im holding out (too stingy to fork out and find it hard to get one in my stupidly big size in the colour I want?!

PurplePidjin · 10/08/2012 19:44

I have 2 pairs of leggings and two tops i bought myself. My mum treated me to jeans, three tops, a lightweight jumper and a pair of linen trousers, all in the sales. Then I've been given/lent a short skirt, two black dresses (one with buttons for bf, one glorious Isabella wrap that's spectacularly unflattering at the moment!) and about 6 tops. Plus all my old size 14 empire cut tops that still fit.

My absolute comfiest stuff is from Matalan. Their tee shirts are really well cut and adjustable, and I'm living in my £7 linen trousers atm!

SpottyTeacakes · 10/08/2012 20:01

Cookies I went for the Spectra 3 got it off Amazon after it was recommended to me. Also seen a few people on here saying they liked it.

I always get Beaton hicks this time of night until bed time and heartburn Sad haven't even eaten yet no doubt it'll be worse after!

WillYouDoTheFandango · 10/08/2012 20:23

Evening ladies, I too am struggling in the heat.

Congrats on the scan Bubbless, sorry you couldn't see eveything State but yay to another viewing in a couple of weeks. And welcome to the new ladies (also baby brained up here).

I am seriously overheating and overeating, I work in the coldest building on earth (a converted Victorian workhouse) but I'm still roasted alive all day.

Cookies I've been in Miriam Stoppard maternity bras since 4 weeks. I was in agony and after the 3rd day of crying and whipping my bra off in the car on my evening commute, I invested in one of these. It is the most comfotable bra I have ever owned and is much prettier than a lot of maternity bras (if a bit enormous). I'm an F and they go up to a G if that's big enough? Poor you if not!

Barbeasty · 10/08/2012 20:42

Kate the costume is on the website but under their summer tab. It's rather cheeky really, because that selection contains all the stuff that a few weeks ago was in the sale but us now back up to the old full prices. I managed to buy it about 3 days before the sale started!

Bubbless · 10/08/2012 20:48

stacey- what makes me laugh now is the fact that i KNOW il do exactly the same thing tonight. however, i told him last night that i feel like a beached whale etc and he just mm'ed and went to sleep... cuts off nose to spite face no sex for him tonight!!

cookies its very acceptable to fan any part of your body including under-boob, armpits, inner thighs, bums... all perfectly acceptable as ive been doing it too!
i dont understand! maybe they are all fed up of having to be mindreaders!

pidjin i tried on maternity clothes in matalan and they hung off of me in some places (armpits?!) and clung weirdly in others (boobs).. i dont think im the right shape for them yet so bought a size 16 tee instead (which is still tight over my belly!)

mwahmwah · 10/08/2012 21:12

Scan done and all bits present and correct. Team yellow, I'm superstitious about finding out the sex - weirdo... Scan pics are amusing - one face shot looks uncannily like skeletor, concerned I'm giving birth to a scary cartoon character Hmm

StateofConfusion · 10/08/2012 21:43

The lovely sonographer checked everything but said as baby was active she'd rather double check in a week or so, winked at me and whispered, and check the sex Grin

mwah some scan pics look really odd, my one today is really weird as baby was facing out with hands clasped together over its nose! Pic is on my profile.

EggsMichelle · 10/08/2012 21:53

Made my first big purchase as well today, bought and Angelcare monitor, with the pressure pad but not the monitor. My friend had it for her little one and I love it, plus it was reduced at Tesco so invested in that. Very excited and desperate to play with it (Even has rechargeable batteries!)

Another busy day at work, and for the first time I gave into everyone's "thats too heavy, you shouldn't be lifting that" and let someone carry an iron for me (Just a normal iron, nothing special!!!)

I have two pairs of maternity jeans and swimming costume, everything else is just low slung trousers or loose tops (there are a lot of really nice loose tops about in the shops, especially at Dorothy Perkings)

Welcome to the new comers, the more the merrier!

EggsMichelle · 10/08/2012 21:57

mwah, according to my DH, I am pregnant with a predator as seen in our first scan picture!!!

Glad you and Confusion's scan went well.

itsMYNutella · 10/08/2012 22:00

mwah and State my baby apparently wasn't easy to scan because they had both arms and legs up around its face (Envy the silly bendy thing!) and apparently my skin is strange... although translating from German and not sure if I should read through the lines that I am:
A- too fat or
B- thick skinned

We have another scan at 24 weeks to make sure the heart is all ok. Must ask to hear the HB next time too... that would be nice! :o

MyDaydream · 10/08/2012 22:09

I'm jealous of all you ladies who want sex, I really want sex but physically can't do it, it feels awful. DP never tries it on anymore because it upsets me when it won't work.
cookies I probably need a maternity bra but the selection out there for big boobs just makes me sad. I'm tempted to stay in underwired ones and just make sure they're properly fitting.
Has anyone else noticed their boobs growing differently? I have a short fat one and a long skinny one!
mwah congratulations on your surprise.
I don't have that much maternity. Mostly I'm wearing old stuff since I liked empire line dresses but I had no bottoms that fitted. Can't believe how uncomfy I was in my non-maternity skirts, I've only just realised now I'm in stretchy waists!
