emilyeggs · 08/08/2012 11:09

stacy how annoying is that!!! I'm sure your friend will understand

emilyeggs · 08/08/2012 11:10

Sorry forgot the e

minipie · 08/08/2012 11:17

morning all! best of luck to the ladies with scans today.

This whole full bladder thing is weird - my hospital doesn't need a full bladder, in fact they specifically say "no need for a full bladder" on the appointment letter!

I've been feeling kicks too! finally at 22+4. They feel a bit more like twitches or prods than kicks, but it's definitely her!

stacey aaargh! Well your DH will owe you some favours I guess..

MyDaydream · 08/08/2012 11:21

Ellie sounds like a lovely day you've got planned. Enjoy.
Stacey how annoying! Hope he feels suitably guilty about it and is the one to apologise massively to the friend. My DP is more likely to go out without any assuming I'll make sure I'm in for him later.
Went into work to hand my notice in, a bit sad I missed the morning meeting so I couldn't do a big goodbye to everyone but I've told my manager to do it for me. But I feel much better now, even if I'm back on the job hunt.
Anyone else finding they're having very specific cravings? I've wanted pineapple for days, but not a whole pineapple it has to be pre prepared for me. Went to tesco to get some and it wasn't right so turns out I have a very fussy baby who actually wants sainsbury's pre cut pineapple chunks!

knottyhair · 08/08/2012 11:28

Hi all. Honey, hope you're OK, I'd just say if you're at all worried, get yourself checked out but I'm sure the baby is fine. MyDaydream, enjoy lunch with your mum. Clarella, I'm sure I read that cycling isn't a great idea because your centre of balance changes and there's more of a risk of falling off? But you know how you feel, if you feel safe then it's your decision. I'd only warn that my friend cycled all the way through her pregnancy and got knocked off her bike at 8 months (thankfully everything was OK). Don't mean to scaremonger! Stacey, what a PITA! MyDaydream, the cravings seem to have reduced a bit, but I still want to drink lots of milk or fizzy water.
Well the scan was at 9am and all is fine, and they are 90% sure it's a girl! I'm already panicking and thinking "I can't plait hair or do Disney pink stuff"!! But very happy Smile. DS just got tell his best friend who has 2 younger sisters and the reaction was muted to say the least! Good luck for this afternoon Spotty!

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 08/08/2012 11:34

Knotty you learn all the girl stuff as you go along, although I still have no idea how to French plait I can manage normal ones. (dd is 7) congratulations!

Still very Angry at DH tbh, friend seems ok but I know she'll be angry deep down and has every right to be!

I've had to remove my wedding ring coz of puffy hands Sad think I need Zumba tonight to get rid of this frustration and sad feelings!

Queenofsiburbia · 08/08/2012 11:38

Lovely news about the little knotty girl! Dont worry I won't be doing pink stuff either, if I end up on that team. Lots of gorgeous dresses in Zara & baby gap though!

I will be doing Disney as I love those films Blush especially lion king!

I meant to say congrats to you too chips!

StateofConfusion · 08/08/2012 12:53

daydream I have a thing for prepared pineapple too, its just not the same when I chop it up myself Grin

stacey if you look on youtube there's some ace tutorials, I learnt to french plait using it and my very tollerant --when bribed-- younger sister.

Good luck to all scans today.

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 08/08/2012 13:01

Never thought of that state, doubt dd will let me practise on her though! Grin

mwahmwah · 08/08/2012 13:26

Amazing how easy it is to french pleat once u get the hang of it... My DD resists every time though as I tend to yank it into submission keep the tension to ensure perfection Grin...
Well 20 weeks today, scan on Fri, am I seriously half way there??? Aaarrrggghhhh!

SpottyTeacakes · 08/08/2012 13:41

Waiting now, got here a bit early Grin

PurplePidjin · 08/08/2012 13:45

Emily, you're entitled to a stool for shop work. If they're not prepared to make reasonable adjustments to make your work safe/comfortable, they have to suspend you on full pay. I'd print something off (probably cab website if not direct.gov) and talk to your boss!

I have my 25 week mw appt on 22nd, how did that come round so fast?!

MyDaydream · 08/08/2012 13:59

knotty my mum couldn't plait hair and very rarely did Disney pink stuff, I lived without. Congratulations on your girl btw.
stacey I had to take the ring off my middle finger a few weeks back because I was struggling to get it odd and didn't want to leave it and end up with it cut off. Made me a bit sad and naked.
I'm really struggling to think of names now it's a boy. We had them picked out for boy and girl and as soon as she said boy I turned on the two names we were considering. Boys names are hard!

knottyhair · 08/08/2012 14:10

Thanks for all the reassurance re: girl stuff! We're going to call her Rosa Smile.

Thinking of you Spotty!

Cookiesandcream06 · 08/08/2012 14:14

Oh stacey Angry for you. Men=useless and stupid. Congratulations knotty I sensed a girl ! I find normal plaits are fine and DD loves having plaits in (no French or fishtails here though, despite her having beautiful long hair, I'm not that talented)
We do have a v pink house, so it is a lot easier that this one is team pink too
I'm in suspense spotty !!
Whoever it was who mentioned getting a burger king today, I blame you!! Couldn't stop thinking about one all day so 'took' dd for a treat, hadn't had one in years but my god it was good! Why can't I be influenced by wanting pineapple?!

Cookiesandcream06 · 08/08/2012 14:17

Oh pidj I have mine on the 22nd too. Although mine is done at 24 weeks. Scary stuff. I have worked in a shop since forever and I had a nightmare of a time when pg with DD I asked for a chair allllll the time and never got one. Hense leaving at 30 weeks with terrible sciatica!

SpottyTeacakes · 08/08/2012 14:29

Team blue!! Got a pic with the curser pointing to his willy!

HoneyMum21 · 08/08/2012 14:32

COngratulations Spotty :)

ellliebelle · 08/08/2012 14:35

Congratulations knotty i will second youtube for hair tutorials i learnt to frenchpait and just about mastered knotting :)

Stacey i think my dh would be way to scared to come home if he had done that with the mood ive been in recently

knottyhair · 08/08/2012 14:35

Congrats Spotty!!

ellliebelle · 08/08/2012 14:36

spotty congratulations :)

Barbeasty · 08/08/2012 14:42

MyDayDream I know what you mean about names. I much prefer what we'd chosen for a girl.

It isn't so much the boy's name we'd agreed on as I've had years to get used to it after not needing it last time, it's what it will get shortened to. It was FIL's name, so means a lot to DH to use it (he died in 2006).

Well I'm no nearer a list of what we need to get for the baby (or choosing a pushchair), but I have prepared an online order of Christmas cards & wrapping paper etc...

2blessed · 08/08/2012 14:46

Congrats spotty
And knotty Rosa is a beautiful name.

Feeling much better today after speaking with midwife about these dratted fibroids. They shouldn't cause LO any problems so long as they don't enlarge or are in the way of LO's route into the big wide world, if so then it will probably mean a C-section. Or baby may come a few weeks earlier.

I didn't find out the sex yesterday but DP did... Off to BabyGap in a bit to buy a gorgeous cardigan and matching hat. This was always the first thing I wanted to buy (even though have bought a few bits and pieces) after 20 week scan. Let the shopping commence!

MyDaydream · 08/08/2012 14:52

The name I really like turns out to be the name of one of DPs relatives who died which is why DP was so for it. But from what I've been told this guy wasn't a good character and don't want my child growing up thinking he was named after this guy so thinks his behaviour is something we condone just because the in laws tell him about X who died.
Were using my great grandads name for the middle name though since he actually is someone to look up to, and had a huge part in my upbringing.
I like quite traditional names but don't want 7 kids to turn round if I shout him in the playground.

kate2boysandabump · 08/08/2012 14:57

Congrats on your team news Spotty and Knotty Grin

Daydream my 20 week scan with ds1 was rubbish Sad The sonographer stayed silent all the way through, never saying what she was doing and at the end turned the screen and said there's your baby and turned it away again. I still remember how excited I'd been and how deflated I was afterwards.

Stacey I feel your pain. I moved my car for dh one morning and he came out after me and locked the door, then drove off. Leaving me outside in my bath robe Angry I had to yell for the ds's to try and get the keys, but they were too short to reach. Thankfully ds1 went and got the step stool out of the kitchen to reach the keys and passed them through the letter box. I still mention it sometimes to make him feel bad Grin

Clarella I've given up riding my bike for now, much to ds2's disgust, I was uncomfortable and I'm so clumsy now I didn't want to risk it. If you feel ok, then why not.

Had a midwife appointment this morning and took my boys, who bombarded the midwife with questions Blush
'What's that thing on Mommy's arm?'
'What's blood pressure?'
'Why do you need Mommy's wee?'
'How do you listen to the heartbeat?'
'Does it take pictures?'
You get the idea, it went on and on and on. She was very patient and answered all their questions and they loved listening to the heartbeat. Baby not so keen and kept kicking the probe away, which the boys found very entertaining.

I can't remember who asked upthread, but I got my MATB1 today and it said on the form not to fill it in before 20 weeks. So you were right and the receptionist was wrong and so was I, I thought it was 24 weeks.
