Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
4MrsCoyle5 · 07/08/2012 23:08

No - it's a 20wk scan - I'm being induced on 28th (my actual EDD is 12th jan). Just wish it was sooner lol (yes you are a lucky thing you xx)

SpottyTeacakes · 08/08/2012 06:17

4Mrs5 hope the consultants appointment went well.

SCAN DAY!!!! And just felt kicks from the outside GrinGrin and dp is treating me to Burger King, last of the big spenders Wink

EggsMichelle · 08/08/2012 06:49

Yay for the big kicks emily and spotty. They were just saving their energy up to give you a good boot!

My DH is on nights this week, and I have slept solid every night, no bladder punches or BH, it's lovely! It's like Shrimpy knows his dad isn't here so doesn't need to perform for him.

Going to hand my ML letter in today, I'm on annual leave from Friday for 2wks so need to do it now. Not getting my Mat B1 til almost 26wks so that will have to wait.

Now my nipples are leaking, not to the point where I'm flooding my bra, but enough to have irritated itchy nips!!!

knottyhair · 08/08/2012 06:52

Morning everyone! Back from holiday, just found the new thread but haven't had time to catch up properly. Feel like someone has stuffed a basketball up my top and keep getting a bit of heartburn but otherwise feel the best I've felt in ages. Also scan day for me today, fingers crossed the baby feels like flashing its bits! Good luck to Spotty, and anyone else who has a scan today. Hope everyone is OK and feeling well, will try to catch up properly later xx

Queenofsiburbia · 08/08/2012 07:12

Excited on your behalf for scans spotty & knotty! Enjoy your burger :)
Are you finding out?

I tried to go shopping in baby gap yesterday and SO many cute clothes- kind of annoying being on team yellow but l do like a surprise :)

mydaydream your scan midwife sounds like my GP midwife, I'm so sorry your scan was ruined by her. Like you I'm dreading my next encounter & am already mentally steely-eyed & all guns blazing, instead of chilled, happy patient like last time!!

The thing is its just a small part of whole experience and won't seem so important in a few weeks, just abit crossmaking but if you really don't want to see her again you can speak to her Supervisor of midwives (SOP) to arrange someone else.

If my GP one is a mean bat again that's what I will do.

Well done ellie for sticking with team yellow, that does take serious self control!

SpottyTeacakes · 08/08/2012 07:17

Yes hopefully find out. Not until 2 though. Good luck with yours knotty

JoJoB77 · 08/08/2012 07:23

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 08/08/2012 07:48

Good luck with the scans today!

Congratulations on your boy chips!

I managed to sleep again last night which is great, not really looking forward to dragging myself out of my bed now though, have 2extra children this morning and doing a dog walk with all of them. Then off to see 'the lorax' at the cinema with my two!

Tomo shall be a pj day!

Cookiesandcream06 · 08/08/2012 07:49

Best of luck for today spotty and knotty

I feel like there has to be some more for team pink soon?! These boys are taking over Smile

knottyhair · 08/08/2012 07:52

Great news Chips!

Queenofsiburbia · 08/08/2012 07:57

cookies someone told me that generally slightly more boys are born but women live longer, thus balancing the demographics IFYSWIM. Although I think that there are still more women than men in the world, due to the living longer thing.

That theory could be absolute BS though! Plus I think it's only a marginal difference.

HoneyMum21 · 08/08/2012 08:18

Just managed to fall over on my way to work :( managed to land on my side but with quite a jolt. Do you think bump will be ok?

MyDaydream · 08/08/2012 08:30

Honey baby will be fine, you might notice its a bit wriggly due to the disturbance but there's still lots of cushioning in there at that stage. I did a ridiculous comedy fall last week so looked into it. Apparently it's really common to fall in pregnancy since our bodies are so different now. Obviously if you get a lot of pain then get in touch with your MW.
I did a big maternity clothes shop on Asos last night to cheer me up!
Handing my notice in today then meeting my mum for lunch. She said she got all teary last night when I sent her the scan photo! I also have a card for her to give to my grandad which was quite nice to send 'from MyDaydream, DP and your soon to be great grandson'.
Good luck with all the scans today people.

Clarella · 08/08/2012 09:19

Sorry to hear about you experience mydaydream, its a shame they were so curt. I've asked about the bladder thing and the sonographers/midwives have either blinked or been rather nonchalant about it but I wonder if different machines make a difference to this. BUT congatulations on your little boy!

Congratulations too chips! I think I've missed someone else?

Hooray for scans today!

Hope you're ok honey - try to take it easy cos you might be wobbly later. I'm sure baby will be fine but your adrenaline might be a bit up. Get your boss to make you a sweet tea :)

Queen I think I've heard that too. Possibly an evolutionary thing in that the men did the battle fighty stuff so we needed more. I've also been told as the sex relies on the sperm, men with very strong y (male) sperm tend to have boys and vice versa, and its more common to have single sex offspring than a mixture due to the sperm. I also read/heard something once about studies of war time babies and they either concluded that the extra stress in a population over time eventually led to more of one sex (boys I think) or that the way/frequency people had sex led to this but it was an evolutionary advantage. Possibly nutrition at time too - plentiful food verses food shortages (over a long time). Do recessions cause the same?!

Clarella · 08/08/2012 09:29

Sorry, quick question and I'm sure its been discussed before - ok to cycle at this stage (and beyond?) I'm lucky that the majority of it is quiet suburbian back streets or a dedicated cycle path and in a couple of bits a wide pavement. I just really like it but next door neighbour commented "should you be doing that in your condition" ... ? ( I retorted yes, they recommend it!) Should I?!

Queenofsiburbia · 08/08/2012 09:48

I'm not sure clarella...
I like your retort, I said same when people asked if I should still be riding at 3 months! Like you I wasnt really sure ;)

Ask your midwife. I did eventually ask dr about riding & he said if you keep it gentle on a bombproof horse you can ride as long as you feel comfortable & bump doesn't get in the way. I would guess the same applies for a bike!

WRT gender balance etc, I read probably in a women's mag that the egg has more of a determining impact on sex of baby than previously thought, by 'choosing' the sperm that gets the gold medal... Again, I'm not sure about that!

ellliebelle · 08/08/2012 09:52

Good luck spotty and knotty
Im having a lovely pj morning with my dd's tbey got home on monday after 5 nights away then my brother yook them out all day yeaterday so having lots of cuddles then going to go get dd1's school uniform and maybe a few more baby bits :)

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 08/08/2012 10:37

So Angry DH has gone to work with ALL the keys to the house! So as I'm leaving the house with 4 children (to walk a friends dog which I am paid for Angry) I can't leave because I wouldn't get back in again!!!

Bust a gut turning the house upside down stressing and there's nothing I can do about it now Sad supposed to be taking the kids to the cinema this afternoon and really don't wanna miss it as have paid already! Bloody men Angry

emilyeggs · 08/08/2012 10:58

Good luck knotty & spotty Smile

Queenofsiburbia · 08/08/2012 11:01

Grrr Stacey. I feel Angry on your behalf!

A friend of mine's wife flew to Geneva for a week with work & took his car keys. He was abit Angry too!

Can you lock door without a key?

emilyeggs · 08/08/2012 11:03

All I want to do today is lay flat on the floor and feel for kicks but have to go to work Sad only one hour break when your not allowed to sit down on the counter for the rest of the time sucks Angry.

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 08/08/2012 11:04

Yeah the door locks without a key but he went on a train to work and won't be back until 6!!! Mil has a spare key so have arranged to get that after the cinema but still means I've had to let my friend down on the dog walk Sad
