Hello ladies,
I think it was a combination of my hormones and work that made me so blue.
My head was swimming with thoughts of uncertainty of motherhood, and with work being as it was, it did not help.

Today I have had a really good shift! I had help, my feet didn't swell too much, I didn't feel completely dead on my feet, and I wasn't ignored.

The only thing was the baby moved and I felt short of breath for about five minutes. It's Amazing how 24 hours can change my mood.

It's nice to see a fresh new thread.

Oh and as 2nd time Mum, I get MW appts at 8, 16, 22-23, 28, 34wks then fortnightly. Have one tomorrow so will get MATB1 with luck.

Chunkychicken · 16/07/2012 20:36

You can be jealous Caped I'm off til Sept after Thursday too Wink but did do a 12hr day today too and only get 60% of the money

WestWinger · 16/07/2012 20:37

I agree with valium about the Baby Bjorn Bouncer. I tried a cheaper one but DD was only happy with the Baby Bjorn in the end. Bit gutted as I sold hers (got a good price as they hold their value really well) but now need to buy another. We were going to stop at one child, you see........

I had bad dreams last night - think all this talk of prem babies has freaked me out. My stepsister's twins were born at 27 weeks last year and whilst they are doing fantastically well now, it has been a huge struggle for them. I dreamt I was in early labour and then when I woke up I had bad back pain and then couldn't get back to sleep for fear that I was actually going into labour.

Marking my place :) I've got some stuff but not really alot, to be honest I don't know exactly where to start! I have the boots changing bag, some nappies and wipes (Though i've been looking into reusable), pushchair and car seat, lots of knitted things and more to come, steriliser and bottles, some other bits of clothing and i think that's about it! I'm trying to space out the buying of stuff so it keeps me busy over the next few months :) DPs sister insists she wants to buy us a bouncer, and I know I want to get a baby monitor thingy, and i'm not sure about a breast pump. I do intend on bf but i'm not sure if you buy the pump in case you can express, or don't buy the pump in case you can't? I got the bottles because I had lots of vouchers for them and thought I could make use of them at some point, even if bf does go well and I end up doing that.

You know, a few years ago I thought I knew quite a bit when it came to babies, having helped bring up my younger siblings, all five of them, but now when I think about it, I feel completely lost! My DP has little experience of babies and asked me when they start to sit up and walk etc and I couldn't answer him without looking it up Blush.

ValiumQueen · 16/07/2012 20:40

I dreamt I had sex with my husbands foot. Must have been the stoma thread. Ugh!

capedcrusader25 · 16/07/2012 20:41

I asked my midwife to drop my MATB1 off at the GP surgery so I could give it to school before I finished, she's very good like that :)
Chunky do you work in a school as well? We go back on Sept 3rd but the kids come back on the 5th - my birthday! Ugh. Luckily I finish mid-october, noooooo way am I doing an 8 week half-term in my role! They'll finish me off!
Evil I had such a wobble last night, even with all my prep I was convinced we didn't have anything to put baby in and then I had a bit of a breakdown in bed sobbing that I didn't even know how to dress a baby, never mind be responsible for one 24 hours a day. I've never even changed a nappy!!! Confused But DP looks after me well and I have a million and one family/friends who are fantastic. I feel better today, glad you do too x

WestWinger · 16/07/2012 20:43

valium that is beyond strange........... Wink

capedcrusader25 · 16/07/2012 20:43

Valium that has made me laugh no end!

ValiumQueen · 16/07/2012 20:43

Duh! Would help if I joined the boots club!

I would buy a hand avent pump. I think they are in the tesco or asda baby event. Less that a tenner and better than electric IMO.

ValiumQueen · 16/07/2012 20:46

It was quite good. Big feet you see. And he knew what to do with it! There was a scene on Weeds too. It was just a dream though in case you are wondering.

capedcrusader25 · 16/07/2012 20:49

Hmmm...I am a member of the Boots club but I've had nothing....Hmm

capedcrusader25 · 16/07/2012 20:53

Ha! Serious baby brain, I am indeed a member of the Boot club but not the parenting club. I am now though :) I could have sworn I'd filled in the forms from my Bounty pack though. Speaking of free bags I put an order in with Vert Baudet with a massive intro discount and got a free mini changing bag. It's so cool!

Chunkychicken · 16/07/2012 21:14

Caped I teach Science to 11-18yr olds. Off til 3rd too, kids start coming back on 5th although staggered return. My birthday is the 1st Sept so not much diff, but hardly ever have to work it. Will also be finishing at half term, think its 19th Oct, as we have a 2wk break, so a month before EDD.

Evilwater · 16/07/2012 21:16

Right I'm off to bed. Here is hoping for another good day at work.

As for seeing the midwife, I get too see her on wed.

Night all as I have to be up at 05:30.

Peaky1 · 16/07/2012 21:24

Yellow - that sounded like an avulsion fracture. Ouchie.

FatimaLovesBread · 16/07/2012 21:47

I can sympathise with the coccyx pain, I broke mine 9 years ago and the PGP I've been suffering with seems to have affected my coccyx as well as my sacrum and left hip. Talkin of PGP that seems to have made a reappearance today after a 3 week break Sad I was getting hopeful it had dissappeared until late pregnancy Confused

Tonight I've had another sort through all my clothes. I now have 3 half full drawers and a quarter full wardrobe instead of 5 overflowing drawers and a full wardrobe. My bump is huge and I'm only 21+3. A friend posted a bump pic on FB and she's a little bigger than me but she's 31 weeks!! Shock

My next midwife appointment is at either 24 or 25 weeks, think I'll book it for 24. Then have 28, 31, 34 and then every fortnight. Still waiting for a consultant appointment, no idea when that will be.

Baby is very wriggly and active today, DH saw my bump move. The kicks seem to be getting stronger. I'm still surprised how much movement I can feel to say I've got an anterior placenta.

Does anyone have any recommendations on bottles and breast pumps? We bought a pack of 6 tommee tippee bottles at morissons last week as they were on offer.

YellowWellies · 16/07/2012 22:23

runs to kiss Peaky like a big lumbering cetacean AVULSION! that's what it was. It's really hard to google for a technical term when you've forgotten what the hell it was! I shall be able to sleep now without that thought whirring round in my head... night all! Valium mention avulsion fracture to your doc.

ValiumQueen · 16/07/2012 22:32

Cheers buddy x sweet clean dreams x

mrswee · 16/07/2012 22:37

dixie codiene is fine, I was given it by maternity triage, then told to take twice as much when the pain was worse I was on maximum does for a week. It will help you with your hips at night too, it's only short term while you get over this infection, give yourself a break and take it if you can. It doesn't whack you out just makes you feel a bit comfy!

Well.. I have had some day...
Monday is my day off. I rushed around with DD this morning took her to the park for ages went to a friends for lunch to tired us both out knowing we'd have a nap at lunch. Then I get a phone call from work at 12.36.. can you come in, they are making an announcment, it concerns your job directly, it's at 2pm.

Luckily I had got wind of some chancges and spoke to my boss on friday privately who assured me something was a foot, I'd be told monday but I will still have a job.. or I would have shit my pants afteer the phone call.

I rushed around to get DD looked after, running for two buses and having to pay for extra nursery session.
Was knackard and very stressed when I got to work.
Then told that within 6 weeks my whole job will change, I have to re train, work in a totally new unknown enviroment doing what I do now but for 54 differnt newspapers instead of just one. Shift patterns will change, all sorts.

SO MUCH FOR DOCTORS ADVICE OF CUTTING DOWN ON DOING STUFF AND NOT DOING ANY EXTRA OR EXPOSING MYSELF TO STRESS!!

Marking my spot

izzybizzybuzzybees · 16/07/2012 23:00

Havent finished thread yet but wanted to say to valium that I think you really need an xray to rule out a fracture. Many people with fractures can still manage to weightbear, especially women who have in my experience at work are better at dealing with these things! The type of break the previous poster was referring to...can't remember her name is an avulsion fracture. Please get it assessed! As otherwise you might end up with permanent weakness :(

mrswee · 16/07/2012 23:17

Bloody hell, I just realised I called and left a message for midwife to call me a week ago and she's not got back yet!
She is scatty to say the least!!
