Today I have been cleaning like a demon (will it never end?), making flap jack and am about to head to yoga.

Another night of no sleep until 2am the every hour until 6 then a couple of hours solid. Strangely, I feel okay today. Is this my body preparing itself?

I am so sorry people are poorly - the infected coxyx sounds awful!

How exactly do you massage your perineum anyway? I am such a lazy person when it comes to things like body lotions and so on that I canno see me getting this done. I MUST get busy with the pelvic floor exercises. Wet pants are never fun.

DesperateHousewife21 · 23/07/2012 16:33

pass I think you massage the perineum by inserting 2 fingers into the vagina but only about a cm and massage/ push down on the back wall so it's sort of stretching the area in between vag and bum!

Had mw this morn, everything as it should be. She wants to see me again in 3 weeks. They're def monitoring me more closely because of this low hormone. I'm not complaining though it's nice to be looked after!
I think all preg women should be seen more regularly regardless of what number preg it is.

Went shopping with my friend and got 2 gorgeous newborn pink hats! Keep forgetting I'm going to need warm things this time round and it's hard to think it'll be cold when I'm sweltering in 25 degree heat.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 23/07/2012 16:40

DP keeps picking up tiny summer romper suits, I have to remind him it will be nearly Xmas when baby is born Grin

Does anyone have any theory on cot bumpers? I personally don't like them, I'm paranoid about the string on the back of them and baby getting tangled sou never used them for DSs.
DP wants to use one because MIL told him drafts through the cot can be hazardous, we have no drafts in the bedroom ever, of anythings it's always way too hot, plus I have lovingly crafted several blankets of all thickness and we have basic baby blankets, sleeping bags too incase he gets cold. Hmm

ValiumQueen · 23/07/2012 17:17

A concern with bumpers is also that baby could suffocate with their nose pressed into them, but they cannot roll for a while. Also overheating? I used mine but made sure baby was well away from them, and removed at first hint of baby being able to move around cot.

Mine are Beatrix potter, with matching cot canopy and Moses basket cover, made by my own fair hands. So excited to be using them again. I had put them away for my grandchildren. I also have matching duvet cover and quilt, but never used them as the guidance was to not use them.

DesperateHousewife21 · 23/07/2012 17:18

Tbh I'd rather have baby in several layers to protect from draughts rather than use cot bumpers. I never had one for ds and he was ok!

Is anyone else having braxton hicks? I've had two today I think. One this morn and one just now. My tummy between my pubic line and belly button goes hard and lasts for about 30 secs.
I can't remember when I had them with ds but dont think it was this early on.

DonnaDoon · 23/07/2012 17:51

Hi all...Has any of you had reduced strength in babys movement ? Well still getting plenty of movement but but the kicks are not as powerful as before ...they are quite feeble if you like. I mentioned to midwife this morning and she said baby got a good strong heartbeat and has probably shifted position but if worried to ring labour ward .

Passmethecrisps · 23/07/2012 18:39

donna this is the same as me. Two weeks ago I could feel definite kicks. Now I can feel baby but in a completed different way - much more internal. I miss the proper whacks.

DonnaDoon · 23/07/2012 18:51

Passme Im thinking that before baby was back to back so all feet and arms were kicking out but like you say now they are internal you dont feel them as much...I miss the the big whacks too and your mind just thinks the worst...oh well as long as heartbeat nice and strong whats the point worrying? Midwife said they wouldnt even strap you to monitor til after 26 weeks.

GTbaby · 23/07/2012 19:35

SwissArmyWife · 23/07/2012 19:56

Hi all :)

So sorry to hear about all the poorly ladies, especially valium and dixie (I think?!) Hope you get lots of rest and relaxation!

As for me, my PGP is bloody agony at the moment. Currently sat in bed with an ice pack on my pelvis and a hot water bottle next to me just in case!
All I did today was take DD out for a walk and I can barely stand. :(

DD had a cot bumper for a while, it was a cellular one but I can't really comment on wether it was good or not as she mostly co-slept with me, the cot barely got a look in!

I don't know if it's just me, but I still can't quite believe i'm having a baby in three and a half months. It all seems so surreal, despite the battering he gives me every day! Still got a few bits to buy, quite a few clothes to get still, although I did find a lovely newborn snow suit (it's white with silver stars all over it, very christmasy :) ) in DD's stuff - lord only knows why I had it for DD when she was born in March, maybe the universe knew I would need it for the next one!

Anyway - i'm blabbing now, so shall leave it at that!

GTbaby · 23/07/2012 20:10

swiss I have bought 3 baby grows! That's it. Nothing else at all. So u should b giving urself a pat on the back for being so organised. I'm going to go on big shopping spree last week of August!

tits I thought about the massaging to prevent tearing too. But I am rubbish at even putting cream on tummy! I heard u can use olive oil. Rather then special cream. Might be better that way if u never use it u can cook with it. Or use as moisturiser for baby!

Bless DH said this morning looking at my tummy "don't know what ur complaining about u have no stretch marks." I get out to check in mirror, but all I can confirm is - he should have gone to spec savers.

Food list time.

Frosties
Banana
Grapes
Cherries
Cheese sandwich
Monster munch
Twix Grin
Carrots
Cucumber
Corn on the cob

N might have pineapple n ice cream later.
Think I might get the runs tomorrow Blush might be eating to much fruit Sad but choice of picking on biscuits or fruit. Both have negatives. Grin

Hello all. been so busy I havent had a chance to
follow the thread.

Had my 22 week appointment with the doctor today. Some protein in my urine but she didnt seem to fussed, sent it away for testing. I'm not worried for now. BP fine whihc is amazing considering how stressed I am
I cried all morning! was getting ready for getting the bus to docs when DD decided she would have an almighty tantrum about chocolate buttons.. missed the bus, carried a screaming tanturming child to the bus stop without shoes on becuase I couldn't get her in the pram or get her shoes on. Was a bit late so called the docs to let them know... all the while DD was screaming about choclate buttons on the bus.. 20 mins after the tantrum started.. The receptionist said oh you appointment isnt till another hour! I had the appoinment card infront of me and it clearly said it was 10.30 but she was saying 11.25. She said I should have got a letter. I was livid and as usual the receptionist was a cow about it all no sorry or help what so ever. I spent the next hour dragging a toddler around in the rain with the worg shoes and I had no jacket. I cried through most of it.
The doctor was really sorry, she said they'd sent the letter to the wrong person with the same name. She said there would be an investigation because that's not on, it could have been a confidential medical letter.
The doctor was tring to presaude me to be signed off work, she is worried about my stress levels but I can't be off work right now.

Thanks YellowWellies and valium for your replies on wednesday. I have been so busy I've not had a chance to post or read since!

YellowWellies · 23/07/2012 20:37

Woo hoo - we're off south on the Aberdeen boat tonight. 8 hours at sea (wish us calm weather please), and because I was too tight to fork out an extra £100 for a cabin (it's already £200 for the car!) I'll be trying to sleep on a seat tonight :( still by lunchtime tomorrow we'll be south with family whoop!

I've been totally anally retentive and made a massive list (compiled from that of other mumsnetters) of everything baby needs and am going to sense check it past my sister this week (as I'm sure we won't need or use half of whats on it) and then pick up hand me downs from family and go out and buy as much as we can afford this month, and test drive pushchairs whilst we are close to real, proper, exciting shops! I've even collated all Which? best buys for everything we need (am so sad) so am feeling uber organised.

I'll not have email for the next week or so I don't think - so I hope everyone has a lovely week. And sending lots of 'get well soons' to the poorly ladies.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 23/07/2012 20:46

Have a lovely time Yellow Smile

ItalaItala · 23/07/2012 20:48

Just checking in again as you are all coming to the end of the 20wk scans, glad to hear of all the good news.

Just an update: I am 41wks today, had a sweep this am and have been having mild contractions since 3ish. Reckon tonights the night (no 90hr labour here thankyou!)

Enjoy your stay on the mainland YW hope the crossing is ok (good luck with the sleep!)

ValiumQueen · 23/07/2012 20:53

mrswee doctors rarely try to persuade folk to go off sick. I think it is worth reconsidering her offer. Sounds like you had a rotten time. Hope things improve soon. I have had many a row about chocolate buttons!

ValiumQueen · 23/07/2012 20:54

Gosh italia overdue already. Hope all goes well for you x

Bluetinkerbell · 23/07/2012 21:03

YW Enjoy! Take a pillow with you! Give little Willow a big squeezy hug from me! :)

Had my midwife appointment this morning, heard lovely strong heartbeat. She didn't measure me though, said they would do that at 28 weeks... She did comment on my nice neat bump :)

YellowWellies · 23/07/2012 21:10

Awww thanks lovelies, yep Willow is going to get a good squeeze and smooch from her auntie (and so is my gorgeous nephew too).

Good luck Italia! How exciting. It's so nice that you joined our thread originally as it means we get some lovely good news long before November.

Chunkychicken · 23/07/2012 21:34

Must be the weather or something but my lovely, easy going, sweetheart of a DD has been such a PITA the last couple of days. Literally screaming hissy fits over every goddamn thing. Wanted to play with a box instead of eating lunch - cue 20mins screaming. Wants to walk not go in the trolley around Asda - 10mins of embarrassing tantrum.

Not sure if I have screwed up with the concept but after DD wanted to wear knickers not a nappy on Sat, but refused point blank to sit on the potty even once in an hr & a half, until she wee'd on the floor, I'm giving her a star chart to reward trying to wee, and another star chart (and chocolate buttons) for actually producing a wee/poo. If she cooperates, I'll wean her off the initial chart!! If it doesn't work, I'll give up on the active training until well after #2 arrives I think...

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 23/07/2012 21:38

Is anyone else finding their hip area really achy? Have suddenly become very aware of my hips and a constant ache thereabouts. Growing pains? Wll mention to my MW when I see her on Thurs.

Also a child at DD's nursery has got slapped cheek and there is a warning to pregnant ladies on the nursery door - ok to mention when I see MW or should I say something sooner?

Good luck itala!

MissMummy1 · 23/07/2012 21:44

Sorry not caught up for a couple of days, been mad busy! By my quick flick through the posts some of you have been having a really crappy time. Hugs to you all xxx

Bit of a rant. I've had an awful day. Got kicked by an 8 year old at work. Not enough to hurt me but enough to make me shout very loudly when he went for my stomach second time round. Luckily his parents were really supportive but I'm beginning to doubt whether I can keep such a high risk client. To top it off DH ran me a bath tonight just for us to find the boilers knackered. We're moving next wednesday (still not remotely organized) and my landlords a dick so i'm damned if i'm doing anything about it!!

YW have a safe trip and hopefully see you in the next couple of days - maria has my number. I want a wee looky at this list (maria mentioned a spreadsheet?!) as we are clueless. DH had a panic tonight that we HAD to buy baby socks - I thought it was meant to be me having these crazy thoughts?! - so we now have baby socks and a christmas outfit..

On another note, we've been invited to a wedding.in october. Its a 5hr round drive and we wont be able.to stay as its in the middle of nowhere. Opinions?

Passmethecrisps · 23/07/2012 22:18

Rubbish day miss. Boilers are a nightmare.

YW gosh it's an expensive business living on the islands! Have a safe and calm trip and enjoy family time.

chunky I think the weather might have something to do with It. It is so close it is very uncomfortable. Doesn't make it less harsh when it makes DC kick off in public

Sounds like you had an awful day mrs. You obviously have your reasons for not wanting to take time off work but if you can cut back at all it sounds like it would be well worth it.

GT I like the sound of your food list. Yum! I decided at the start of the summer hols that I would try to eat as many different fruits as possible to ensure that baby had a taste for more than kettle chips and haribo. I am not sure what different it will make but it is nice getting to buy lots of lovely fruits.

donna I think you are right about position. Just wait though, in a few weeks we will be complaining about feet in ribs!

Yoga was good fun. There was a lady there who is due on Thursday! I hope I'm still as up and at em at that stage as she was. She was muh bendier than me that's for sure!

mrswee · 23/07/2012 22:47

I think it is the weather, DD is all over the place right now, amazing and polite one min, the devil spilling out her ears the next!

chunky that's how our potty training started, DD refusing nappies and reward chart. it went well mostly! good luck

valium I will take the doctor up on it if things don't improove in the next couple of weeks but right now I almost think not being at work and not being part of this change and not getting the information as it happens so I can make the right moves and choices, would be more stressful than being at work. I need to get my positive head on and ignore all the doom mongering at work becuase other peoples panic really seems to effect me!

Peaky1 · 23/07/2012 23:21

Does anyone else get funny dizzy spells? I keep getting them but it's not a dizzy feeling that makes me think I'll faint but a weird off-balance inner ear dizzy. I can get it sat down, lying down or stood up and moving.
