Thinking of bb at her scan.

Nausea has hit here. Not awful, but combined with the tiredness and rain outside (which always seems to drain my energy), I am feeling a bit fed up.

My happy little DS is doing his best to cheer me however, and had me in stitches earlier commando crawling to get the phone handset (left on the floor). He has all these lovely toys, but it's the phone he wants!

hitchingal don't fret about the booze intake. I was on the Sept antenatal thread with DS - babies conceived over xmas/newyear. Lots of guilt on that one, and no-one had a baby with liver damage :)

bbface · 02/07/2012 17:28

Quick, more later. You are all so lovely, thanks for support. All fine xx

tedmundo · 02/07/2012 17:42

Yayyy bb. Thanks for letting us know but do post more later when you have time!

popinda .. Ah yes I am also a frequent knicker checker. But also my poor little tushie is getting wiped frantically and tissue checked for tell tale signs about 100 times a day!! I have promised myself I am going to chill out once I have seen that heartbeat!

Yes tiddley, after the mmc I NEED to be scanned more this time, I am a nervous wreck at the minute!

hitchin .. I would not worry too much about the booze. I bet half of all pregnancies are booze related

Hitchingal · 02/07/2012 17:55

bb, very glad to hear all is fine!
Thanks guys for the reassurance. It's so hard not to feel guilty about it but I will feel much better once I have seen the doctor next week. Had to tell my Pilates instructor today which was a bit scary, but thought it best as I don't want to do any damage. Feels a bit surreal telling someone as I haven't really got my head round it myself yet!

ilpm · 02/07/2012 18:46

Hi everybody again. Goodness this forum fills up quick when you don't check for a couple of days! Had a hen do at the weekend and had to avoid drinking which was very difficult without arousing suspicion. Managed to get away with it with the 'I'm driving' excuse but not sure how I'm going to manage a party and a wedding in the next few weeks. Anyone got any advice for managing social events at this early stage without telling people?

ChiefTittifer · 02/07/2012 19:02

BB, really glad to hear all was ok with your scan.

Tiddley, I had a long labour with DS, but even so I am really keen to have a home birth this time if circumstances allow. I'm also considering hiring a student doula for the extra support - poor old DH found it all rather overwhelming last time.

Ted, sorry to hear about your mmc. My DSis had one while I was pregnant with DS, so sad :(. Don't tell anyone I said this, but if they're not keen to scan you, you could always have some unexpected pain or bleeding...?

Not much but waves of nausea and horrendous bloating < loosens trousers >

bbface · 02/07/2012 19:05

Ok, dh putting ds to bed so I am now free to chill.

I found myself getting nervous and excited about the scan. I plied ds with snacks, but as it turned out.... It was all rather quick. She immediately said that the sac had made it to the womb, so no ectopic pregnancy. She said the pain was likely just things stretching. The best bit is that I get another scan in two weeks time to hear the heartbeat!! Yippeeeee

Oh goodness, the nausea hit big time when we got home. I lay on the sofa with ds and just let the waves wash over me. And then, after about fifteen mins it completely subsided and I am not about to embark on cooking dinner, whereas when I was feeling sick i thought I was going to have to bring out my recipe book for dh i.e. take away menu

How is everyone else doing?

Thanks again for the kind words and support xx

bbface · 02/07/2012 19:08

Hitch... Impressed you are doing Pilates. I can barely be arsed to reach for the remote ATM x

Doraemon · 02/07/2012 19:08

Hello can I join? DC3 (aaargh! what am I doing????) due 09/03/13, but given that DS1 and DS2 were both very premature (32 weeks and 34 1/2 weeks gestation respectively, but DS2 tried to put in an appearance at 29 weeks) it could be any time from Christmas really....
Feeling fat and buxom and mildly nauseous already, and rather nervous about telling DH who is away with work this week.

Hitchingal · 02/07/2012 20:02

ilpm, I also could do with advice on handling social situations as I am known to like a drink and it will be the first thing my friends think if I drive more than twice in a row....DH had the cunning plan of buying my drinks and getting me tonic with no gin, no alcohol Becks etc but it will only work for so long! Not sure I can brazen it out if someone asks me direct!

bbface must admit I have not gone to my class tonight, am bloody knackered! Can't believe how tired I feel. Want to try and do a few things throughout though as I am hoping overall I will feel better for it Hmm

posypoo · 02/07/2012 20:22

Glad to hear all was fine Bb!

posypoo · 02/07/2012 20:27

ps Hello Doraemon!

Leftwingharpie · 02/07/2012 20:34

Hitchingal I just pretended to drink at the wedding I went to and nobody noticed a thing. Towards the end of the night the groom completely blotto was stroking me on the head saying "oh Harpie bless you, you're so drunk!" I did feel a bit bad about people buying me drinks knowing I was going to throw them away though!

I think I had a lot more fun in the end through cavorting around pretending to be drunk than I'd have had if I'd made out I was driving or admitted I was pregnant. My pg friend spent the whole evening being regaled with horror stories by another guest while I sloped off!

Hitchingal · 02/07/2012 20:39

LOL I love it Harpie - great idea! I guess if others are a leetle bit inebriated they aren't as observant... :)

tiddleypompom · 02/07/2012 20:44

Wotcha all,

Golly what a flurry of activity - first things first - bb hooray, I am so happy for you, well done for believing your own instincts. Won't it be fabulous to hear the heartbeat in a fortnight - can't tire of that noise :o

Welcome to 3rd-timer dora! We've another on board who is due her third (tedmundo) so you're in good company. DH will be thrilled helped that your are feeling buxom no doubt

harpie you have sussed the social etiquette completely - just pretend. Love it. I could really quite enjoy myself acting out tiddley pissed :o

tittifer (trying to resist calling you titty, sorry if it slips out at some point) - I too am loosening my trousers. Seriously bloated. Windy too :o

Night night all - I'm skipping off to bed, hooray for being pregnant for a decent excuse!

Leftwingharpie · 02/07/2012 20:44

Yes it was touch and go at first. I drank a very small amount of Pimms, a few sips of wine with the meal and some sips of champagne for the toasts. That was enough to throw people off the scent. By the end of the meal everyone was getting tipsy and noone was looking what anyone else was drinking.

BBface I'm glad to hear the scan went well and everything looks ok.

doramon .. #3 for us too. DH is in denial. Conragts on the BFP.

chief .. god I have to confess that did cross my mind. I truly would never want to be deceitful but the thought of the mmc makes me throw my morals to the wind. I will ask her on the booking in day and if she pooh poohs me I will have to think about my next move!

harpie .. some good tips there thanks. I am at a 40th with school mums this weekend and it is going to be a bore hiding it from them. They are a bunch of gossipy nightmares (lovely though but still ..) and it would be round that school quicker than wildfire if anyone twigs. I have a plan to ask for a half of lager, tip most away when no-one looking and top up with lemonade! Sneaky!

FloweryBoots · 02/07/2012 21:07

te he he, loving the 'how to fake drinking'. With DS I found it helpful to offer to go to the bar, then no one heard what I ordered and it could be just a drink that looked alcoholic like week sandy or gin adn tonic, but without the gin! At a staff do I had tiny sips of wine and as soon as DHs glass was low he swapped his with mine (though that did mean he drank more than he would otherwise have!).

No symptoms here but not even quite 5 weeks and it didn't kick off till 6 weeks with DS

AuntieJu · 02/07/2012 21:16

Hi everyone,

bb great news on the scan! Very jealous you'll have another scan in 2 weeks.

hitchingal and ilpm, my best advice is to get alcohol,, hold it in your hand, but just pretend to drink. Works well for weddings or when you're milling about in a bar, however more difficult when sat down for example in a pub or dinner party. Then I just pretend to drink, and then swap with DHIf not, try to swap drinks with DH when his is empty etc. I have poured a drink into a plant in the past - desperate measures!!! TBH I am slightly avoiding some of my friends because this is quite difficult!

I'll be 5 weeks tomorrow and still doing constant knicker checking like some others on this thread! Time seems to be going so slowly..... Feeling v fat and v tired.

AuntieJu · 02/07/2012 21:18

Ooh sorry about mistyping! On my phone and not v good at editing (as you can tell!)

jessi0343 · 02/07/2012 21:20

ilpm I totally did the the 'pretend to be drunk' thing last time around when I was pregnant with DD and around 7 weeks was my birthday night out. We hadn't told anyone and were waiting until after the 12 week scan. So all night people were buying me Vodka Sodas, I would pretend a sip, then sneak off to the bar and have them switch it for just a soda. And I had to pretend to be tipsy hehe which was pretty funny. It gets much easier as the evening goes on and others get drunk.

yay bb on successful scan!

tittifer totally loosening trousers over here too re: Bloating! Almost considering pulling out the maternity jeans but at 5 weeks that seems a little silly...

Doraemon · 02/07/2012 21:31

jessi and tittifere totally with you on the bloating, am sitting here with jeans undone (how glamorous). Please god let it not be twins.....

My alcohol free Becks is coming with the shopping tomorrow so I can still have my Friday beer while serving the kids' fish fingers (am very classy you know). Not sure how to get through a weekend with in-laws in a couple of weeks though as my FIL is always trying to get everyone to drink wine at every meal. I would tell them but I'm a childminder and until I've told my mindees' families I can't let my own boys find out otherwise they're liable to tell the whole world.

Popinda · 02/07/2012 21:33

bb glad everything is fine. I wish I could have scan! Smile
Very good tips how to avoid drinking! So far I was lucky, at the weekend it was my friend b-day party and I had to work and next weekend other friend having b-party and I'm away! So very lucky. Nothing happening after that for a while. Phew!
My trousers getting too small as well! Had to loosen up my button today! If I carry on like this will have to buy pregnancy clothes much sooner!
I'm happy we all getting on so well with our little bumps! Smile its going to be long night months! Def long next few weeks till first scan! Feeling more positive now and decided everything is going to be ok! This stress is not good for my little sesame seed! Grin
Also glad I'm not the only nicker checker! Grin

kurlyvoice · 02/07/2012 21:36

Am so glad that I'm not the only bloater here - its rubbish! Will try to resist the lure of elasticated sides for a few more weeks...

bb I'm so glad that your scan was ok and whoopee on the bonus one. Am slightly jealous!

Welcome dora! Sorry that you have the premature worry. Do they know why your boys came early? Will you be under a consultant?

With all this talk of pretend drinking I am so glad that all my friends know I don't drink so will not be asking questions when we go away with them in a few weeks. But it would be fun to be engaged in some kind of covert operation with DH!

Anyway, I'm off to bed. How have I only known that I'm pg for a week! Night, all.

ilpm · 02/07/2012 22:10

Wow some really creative ways to avoid drinking! I will certainly try some of those cunning plans.
Kurlyvoice i agree it feels like much longer than a week since i found out im pregnant . Im not even seeing midwive till july 18th so sort of feel like its not official yet though. Not seen gp either. DH keeps asking if im sure im pregnant- dont think he'll believe it until ive seen the midwife!
