I'm definitely going to do one just before my doctors appointment - imagine if your GP did a test and it was negative, you'd be completely gutted in a public place AND you'd look like a fool! [consumed with paranoia]

Tiddley assuming we like having the first baby, we'll probably try for #2 before long. I'm getting a bit too old to mess about. I'll be 35 when this one comes. So looking forward to birthday and Christmas without moping about not being pg!

tiddleypompom · 21/06/2012 16:57

harpie you might find your first GP visit a bit of an anticlimax - mine was (he didn't do a test or give me a medal, meanie). May just be a quick few bits of advice re: goods to avoid etc Main thing is that you get In The System - your booking appt at 6-8 weeks is the biggie in respect of 1001 questions and a shiny new green folder that you'll have for the next 35 ish weeks :)

'assuming you like having this baby' :o Oh, you will!

tiddleypompom · 21/06/2012 16:59

Mind you, they may do things v differently up your way - so don't quote me. But if you get a medal, I'm moving up north :o

Leftwingharpie · 21/06/2012 17:10

I'm not expecting much tbh but I did think I might be asked to prove it! I tried to book direct with the midwives but they wouldn't let me!

Hi everyone, hope you're all had a good day.

Should have said in the beginning I'm in West mids and this will be DC2, already have DD who will be 2 in august.

Was stressing earlier about my weight again Put on lots of weight after having DD. Have spent about the last month on a 1200 calorie a day diet and going to the gym which was all going well. I'm just worried what the mw will say about it, I know it will mean I'm classed as high risk. I managed to speak to a mw today (she helped me a lot when I was having trouble breastfeeding so really trust her) and she said there is new research showing dieting in pregnancy is not harmful as long as you keep it sensible, so I'm confident I can at least keep weight gain to a minimum.

tiddleypompom · 21/06/2012 21:23

We're in the same county then lois. Mind telling us which hospital?

You mustn't stress about weight - if you've a helpful mw she'll be able to offer some tips for a healthy eating plan (hate the word diet!)? It's hard during pregnancy though isn't it? Last time I felt sick for the first trimester & could only stomach certain foods - most of which were processed and contained chocolate! :o I am also starting this pregnancy heavier than I was last time. I think the key for me is to have lots of alternative snacks around - apricots, fruit etc so that I stay away from the malteasers...

In bed already, though currently using 'wake to sleep' technique with DS who has got himself into a bizarre habit of waking at around 11pm. Tis gruesome. So I will rouse him at 10pm - it seems to work!

Sweet and completely mad dreams all

Leftwingharpie · 21/06/2012 21:57

I'm also in bed. Have left DH and his friend giggling hysterically over the best man speech they are co-writing for their friend's wedding next weekend. It's almost entirely to do with shitting and weeing and farting and cocks. I'm far too tired to plead the poor bride's corner, so I shall just have to deny any connection to DH on the day, and never speak to her again.

At one point I did hear DH briefly say to his mate "we should probably say some genuine things" - but seconds later they started working out how to photoshop the groom's face onto some gay pornography.

I'm starting to worry he's not father material! Grin

tiddley I'll be at New Cross, Wolverhampton - same as with DD. Which hospital will you be at? I've been using My Fitness Pal calorie tracker which is great at that tells me that intake of 2010 calories a day (was doing 1200!) should still enable me to lose 1lb per week, so maybe taking pg into consideration, might be able to maintain my weight. I'm just on bed too looking up meal plans on change4life website - I think I might be over obsessing!

leftwing shitting, farting and weeing? Sounds like great training for being a dad! he'll have a good 2 years of all that to look forward to...

Leftwingharpie · 21/06/2012 22:26

Yes I hope he finds it just as hilarious when it's exploding out of his DC at four in the morning!

I do Myfitnesspal as well! I was on 1,200 calories, but I've upped it to 1,520 now I'm pregnant. It seems like a lot!

Hiya, can I join you?

I have just had a BFP this morning - am only 3+3 so extremely early, fingers crossed that everything goes to plan. After a miscarriage in March at 10+6 I've been lurking on the miscarriage and conception boards. Estimated due date 5th March.

Am thrilled to be pregnant again but absolutely terrified, don't want to repeat what happened last time. DH also thrilled but we're both trying to be cautious.

Had a bit of implantation spotting on Tues so have been hoping ever since, starting to feel a bit sick, so taking that as a good sign :-)

tiddleypompom · 22/06/2012 10:11

Hey Ju, welcome to our little (so far) gang! It is very early days for all of us, so you're aren't alone in your concern - but I am so sorry to hear that you had a miscarriage in March :( I really hope that this is the one for you - symptoms are surely a good sign and I am sure that it is always better to try and stay cautiously positive. We'll hold your hand :o

harpie your post made me laugh - god the poor bride. I have witnessed some pretty close-to-the-edge best man speeches and I have to try not to look at the look of horror on Grandma's face :o Mind you, the worst was a father of the bride, who when talking about his daughter's love for horses said - 'she always did like a ride on a hairy, sweaty beast' Shock

Trying to ignore malteasers in fridge now that I am in the company of restrained myfitnesspals.

Well it is early days for me too - period due today-ish. Once that is safely out of the way (fx) I will feel a bit more 'properly pregnant'. I have some lower back pain and a few cramps, so have everything crossed...

LoisLame · 22/06/2012 10:22

If anyone wants to add me on MFP please pm me your username and I will send a request. Was about to just post my name on here but it would def out me! I've somewhat fallen off the diet wagon since bfp, but now that I've spoken to some health professionals, I'm ready to get back on. Although I'm going to Holland and Barrett later for pretzels, my snack of choice for nausea and some peanuts for grazing on.

posypoo · 22/06/2012 11:08

Morning all! I totally relate to the weight worry by the way. I am actually lighter than when I had LO (astonishingly) but am worried that that is all going to change again after this pregnancy! I also spent the entire first trimester (in fact hte entire pregnancy) last time eating crap to get through the nausea. Last time my midwife suggested buying a little cool bag and fillling it with nuts and fruit and crackers and little cheeses. I was too disorganised last time but think I might try that this time (probably).

Hello Ju and congratulations! Are you still in shock? I spent all of yesterday feeling totally weird after my bfp on Weds. I am very sorry to hear about your mc in March :( fingers crossed for all of us that our little beans will hang around this time.

I am off on holiday today for a week, so will be spending the day frantically packing and no internet connection where we are going (gulp) - but looking forward to seeing more march beans on my return. x

tiddleypompom · 22/06/2012 12:15

Happy holidays posy! How lovely - escaping from the wet weather too? Hope you won't miss your piña colada :o

DS just shredded dh's Autotrader. Oops.

No nausea yet here - anyone else getting symptoms? I just have metal mouth plus am tired. Can go a bit light headed also when getting up - but no sickness...yet...

tiddleypompom · 22/06/2012 12:17

By the way lois am at Birmingham's Women's Hospital at the moment but relocating to Shrewsbury - or Ludlow.

What is MFP??

AuntieJu · 22/06/2012 17:33

Thanks for the warm welcome, glad to talk to others in a similar situation as can only talk to DH in RL.

Posy, I am not feeling too much in shock, mainly because since my mc I have been desperate to be pregnant again, in fact every month I was symptom spotting to the max and totally convinced I was preggers!! Nice to be right this month. I suppose it has only been 4 months since then so I really should count myself lucky especially as I am the wrong side of 30! Have a great holiday.

Tiddly I have a funny feeling in my stomach, which at times makes me feel a bit sick. I was on a flight (for work) yesterday and I thought I would nearly be sick in the turbulence- and it wasn't even that bad!!! I also have a very sensitive sense of smell, which I know from before my mc must the the hormones.

Also conscious of weight, always seem to be on a diet and get fit. I guess starting a new fitness regime is out of the window but at least I can carry on with the running and cycling I usually do. My main problem is I eat (and drink) too much! Maybe cutting out booze will help with that.

Leftwingharpie · 22/06/2012 22:00

AuntieJu congratulations and welcome to our neurotic little club. As Tiddleypompom says we're all in the same boat, anxiously ticking off days and agonising about our symptoms or lack of them - so you're in good company!

Tiddleypom I know! I'm going to have to look through it this weekend with my red pen. If only I can stay awake long enough!

Posypoo have a lovely holiday. Nice and relaxing hopefully.

I'm 18dpo tomorrow, the magic number for bbt charting! So last temp tomorrow. Finally a (minor) milestone!

Up with DS who is playing with his beloved truck (£1 from an NCT sale, up yours vtech!). Did another test yesterday - lovely strong pink line, can't tire of seeing that.

Going to tell dm&df on Sunday. Would otherwise wait but given we're moving with them we figured it would be important for them to be aware at least. I'm v close with mum especially and it is so hard talking to her without saying anything. Mind, I do anticipate them thinking it is too soon after DS. Don't suppose they'll actually say so though, unlike our mates who will doubtlessly not hold back!

Oo, getting ahead of myself there. Must calm down :o

Feel a bit bleugh this morning. Mind you, I did wake at 5.50...

Leftwingharpie · 23/06/2012 07:18

I have had a lovely lie in this morning I did wake up at 4.15 but then I managed to get back to sleep for once! I've got two more tests in the bathroom but I don't really see the point in doing them when I'm so obviously still pregnant!

I can see why you'd tell your parents now. It's so hard to keep quiet isn't it! I was on the phone to my sister for ages yesterday and managed not to tell her, but I don't know how I heard any of the conversation because all I could do was think about telling her she's going to be an auntie!

I wish I had known about mumsnet during my first pregnancy!!

BB 31 2 DC EDD 3rd March 2013.

So excited. The fact that it is my second, does not make it any less special. In fact, my first was an accident, and I didn't realise I was pregnanct until I was 6 weeks gone and it took me a long time to get my head around the fact that my career was going to come to a standstill and that DH and I weren't going to live the life of riley anymore.

This time.... I am a bubbiling mess of excitement. But also v v worried about miscarriage. Whereas with my first I didn't give it a second thought. I have been goggiling manically this morning about miscarriage. Aaaaaahhhhh but Yaaaaaaayyy at the same time!

Good luck fellow preg-heads, I look forward to getting to know you all

xxxx

P.S. anyone heard if your second pregnancy meant to be better or worse than first. I loved every min of my first, but close friend pregnant with second and the sickness has been incredible, whereas she also had an easy first pregnancy like me.

Leftwingharpie · 23/06/2012 08:13

Welcome to the thread, bbface! I have updated the stats list.

I am immensely excited too - but it's all going so slowly and yes I keep googling all sorts of disaster scenarios. Ectopic pg is irrational worry of the day today!

Just waiting for DS to wake up in the car - we are sitting in John Lewis car park!

Welcome bbface! I also was lucky to have a relatively easy first pregnancy - I was hoping this one would be similarly lovely... With you on the worries - but you gotta keep away from google!!

Ooo stats thread, well done harpie, tis official now :o

tiddleypompom · 23/06/2012 09:35

P.s. how the chuff do I ignore the newborn clothes in John Lewis?? Eeeep, lovely little baby grows...

AuntieJu · 23/06/2012 09:59

Morning, I love the baby clothes - I can't even let myself think about having a real baby yet! I wonder at what stage I'll start buying clothes etc!?

Have you guys been to the doctor yet? I'm just in the process of relocating so am not even registered with the doctor at the moment, I think I'll wait until AF has not arrived, do another test, and then go.

Hi BBface
I think we're all a bit concerned on this thread as it is so early, but a good outcome is more likely than a bad one - that is what I am holding onto anyway! Fingers crossed for us all
