jessi just a quick post because it's late but my scan at 5+4 only showed the gestational sac with the yolk sac in it. So that really is where it's meant to be if you are not quite as far on as you thought. Am hoping that all is well with your little bean.

Leftwingharpie · 12/07/2012 07:29

Wow I just had a full night's sleep and didn't wake up till ten to seven! My bladder was ready to burst but after the longest ever wee I feel awesome!!

Mmmsleep I suppose it's reassuring to have additional monitoring when you know you need it. Extra scans is good - assuming everything going well anyway.

Mandasand thanks for recommending i-am-pregnant.com it's fantastic seeing those photographs! DH was really interested for once!

bbface the blooming period sounds great!! at the moment I look five months (not five weeks!) pregnant and am very spotty indeed. thank goodness I'm spending most of the next two months working from home so my boss won't notice!

leftwingharpie, yep, mine too - it's because it looks a bit sciencey, I think :-) and well done on your big wee (she says in a practising-to-be-a-mum voice, hehe!)

going to see a friend who is also pregnant today. she's one of the few people I've told. very exciting!

tiddleypompom · 12/07/2012 07:50

Morning - the sun is shining here (at last) and I am up for a good day. The fact my mum is coming over to help with DS whilst I pack yet more boxes is a bonus :)

bb our first pregnancies sound very similar - I was on top of the world during most of the second and third trimesters (up to about 35 week when insomnia kicked in). My hair and skin were lovely and I felt terrific. If only I could have it like that again... Currently feeling like I have just stepped off a boat on rough seas - though no vomiting for a couple of days (fx). I also feel guilty that I am simply not feeling up to being a bouncy, playful mum all the time. The start of the guilt for the eldest child when the new baby comes :(

anyway I'm going to have a nice day. I hope the sun is shining on you all too...

(by the way harpie am envious of your long sleep - DS woke at a hideous 5.15 this morning)

Leftwingharpie · 12/07/2012 08:32

[proud]! Nice mummy skills!

It is a lovely day, isn't it! Just dragging myself to the station - 20 minutes late. So much for feeling awesome that lasted all of about five minutes!

Morning everyone! Just saw my GP for MW referral, shortest appt ever! I thought they might do a test to confirm, but he just said 'Great, I'll write to the midwife unit, you'll see them here, good luck with it'!!
All very surreal.
jessie & everyone else, I hope you are OK & that everyone has a good day x

Sunnymeadows · 12/07/2012 09:28

Hi all, how are you all? I hope you don't mind me joining you. I am new to all this but really excited to say that we got our BFP on Tuesday evening. I was unsure at first as we bought a cheap 50p test, so did a further 2 and bought clearblue digital just to make sure. Think I'm 5 weeks now, due middle March next year. I'm so excited, I can't sleep. This is baby number 1 for us so it's all very new but very exciting. All planned nicely. I just can't wait for the 12 week scan, will put my mind at rest a little. I'm worried about all sorts, what should I feel, which way should I sleep, and lifting lol. x

EricNorthmansFangBanger · 12/07/2012 09:36

jessi - hoping all is ok with your little bean.

Gosh, this thread moves quickly! Woke up this morning feeling like rubbish with a sore throat and stuffy nose. Still not really having so many symptoms like nausea, only every now and then. Having dry mouth quite a lot and have already started with heartburn, which I started early with DD2 also. Some sore/tingly nipples too BlushBlush

No scan letter yet, but a home visit from the midwife on Monday where she will probably have my blood test results. Still feels kind of surreal that no-one has confirmed pregnancy with a test, even though I have done a gazillion myself(!), though I've not done one since last week when the test line was darker than the control. Last time I was made to give a sample to the surgery before I could even see a doctor! Ah well.

I'm 'craving' salt and vinegar crisps at the moment, my favourite being chipsticks and for some strange reason wanting lemonade a lot too.

Hope you are all well this morning!

KFFOREVER · 12/07/2012 10:15

Good morning everyone!

Jess- Sorry to hear about the bleeding. Hope things work out well for you and a positive note is one day less of waiting for your scan.

I'm 5 weeks 4 days today and my first DC. Had a midwife booking appointment yesterday but was a waste of time. As I want to be referred to a different hospital other than the one that the surgery is linked with I have to wait for doctor to refer me. I was kind of surprised they did not tell me to wait a few more weeks for seeing a midwife after some of the experiences you ladies have had. Feeling tired all the time and started feeling more nauseous as the days go by although not sick yet.

Today is that last of my 2 week annual leave and have to go back to work tomorrow which I am dreading. Feeling very protective already with my apple pip.

If i ruled government I would make it that maternity leave starts from the day you get your BFP! oooohhhh that would be nice.

Have a lovely day ladies the sun is out in London but housework is waiting for me.

Hitchingal · 12/07/2012 10:40

Just to add - cravings have kicked in here!
Marmite, feta (must be the salt!), crisps, broccoli. Not all together, but this is all I want to eat! Very odd. Mind you my DM told me she was craving piccalilli from week 5 when pg with me, one of the first signs for her!

ThreeForTea · 12/07/2012 14:14

Hello sunny and congrats on your bfp :)

I have been so busy for the last few days its crazy. I think I loose like 90 % of my capacity while early pg, but off tomorrow so hopf will have time to write a nice long post!

Thinking of you all!

mandasand · 12/07/2012 15:44

welcome sunny!

sorry to hear about your cold, eric. hope it's a quickie and not a lingerer...

I too have got salt cravings - salt and vinegar crisps, soy sauce, etc - what (biologically speaking) is that all about?!

anyway I'm just popping in to report that I've bought myself a bigger size and non-underwired bra and my boobs are in heaven! my underwired bras are going into retirement for the time being (having just learnt they can damage your milk ducts or something). this new bra is so comfy I might never take it off!

MrsBradleyCooper · 12/07/2012 16:26

OMG - I have missed loads - off to make a cuppa then sit down and read through it all.......

jessi0343 · 12/07/2012 18:08

Hi Everyone! Just wanted to say thanks so much for the kind words, they have really lifted my spirits!

Still spotting, mixture of light brown, and fresh blood similar to light period, and I have no pregnancy symptoms, so I'm kind of accepting the inevitable, although trying to stay positive.

I will likely not post again until after the scan (11 days and counting!) with my news (either way) but until then will enjoy catching up on all your posts! Love hearing about new symptoms and cravings, and good luck to everyone in these early weeks! Also love hearing about the new BFPS, congrats sunny!

woody17 · 12/07/2012 19:06

Hi everyone

Sounds like a lot of us are starting to have similar symptoms! I've got my second scan at the EPU tomorrow morning (first one was last Tuesday). There should be a heartbeat by tomorrow but so frightened that something will have gone wrong. I still have symptoms and have been doing a digital test every day for the last few days that always say 3weeks+ pregnant no matter what time of day I test... So I hope everything is ok. At least I'll know tomorrow.

tiddleypompom · 12/07/2012 19:20

Hello sunny - welcome on board and congratulations! Your enthusiasm and excitement are contagious - but you really must sleep before the baby arrives in March Wink

jessi my heart goes out to you. You are being so very brave, and very lovely. I hope beyond hope that your symptoms don't herald a sad end to this pregnancy - but what will be, will be, and your courage and outlook will surely put you in the best possible place to try again, with a happier ending. I wish I could give you a RL hug, but have a virtual one instead (((())))) It's good of you to update us after your scan, we'll be thinking of you and rooting for you all the way.

woody good luck for tomorrow - and try to enjoy it! It sounds as if everything is on track for a lovely sneaky peek at your bean. We shall all be a teeny bit envious :)

woody17 · 12/07/2012 19:33

Thanks tiddleypompom I think I would feel more positive if I didn't keep having this brown discharge. It's only when I wipe but hopefully all is ok!

pipsicles · 12/07/2012 19:53

Flowery are you a teacher too? I'm having exactly the same thoughts about leaving at Christmas! I would make it super early though (sounds like bliss!) I'm going to see how it goes though. I have realised that looking after a nearly 2yo and being heavily pg might not be such a good combo...? Maybe school will have to win a bit longer?

I'm all about the savoury too! Sweet stuff just makes my nausea much worse. I was savoury all the way through with DS - potatoes, crisps, chips and LOADS of vegetables! I do have a theory that it's savoury and veggies for boys and sweet stuff for girls, but if that's the case then we are going to get a threadful of boys by the sounds of things!

Whilst sorting out the garage at the weekend, I found my bag of knitting from when I made DS a knitted patchwork blanket when I was pg. I made it in pastel colours and had forgotten that I'd bought some lovely bold colours to make another! I might have to get cracking as it took the whole 8 months last time and I didn't have a DS to look after then either!

I know we have another thread for stats, but would anyone might if we update it on this thread, say once a week? I'm getting really confused about who is where in their dates, DCs etc!

pipsicles · 12/07/2012 19:53

Sorry, I wrote that yesterday when the site was down and returned to my iPad to find it hadn't posted. Now to catch up on today...

suzydelarosa · 12/07/2012 20:07

welcome sunny....

I'm excited as I've broke the bank and organized a scan with a private clinic at just about 8 weeks. I know it'll give me peace of mind because I really, really can't wait til the 12 weeks... that's almost September and FAR too long to wait!!

It's expensive but as i'm currently moving house it is truly a drop in the bucket. I forgot how expensive it is to move!

tiddleypompom · 12/07/2012 20:10

woody I am sorry, I had forgotten you were getting brown discharge - forgive me for being so blasé about your scan. Best of luck, I do hope all is well - & hope you manage to sleep well and not worry. It does sound like what many women get and still have healthy babies. My god though, these early days are stressful enough! Fx

motherOfOne27 · 12/07/2012 20:23

I know i shouldn't vent on your page but i feel so down today, i feel like the world is against me.
my other half wants me to abort and really putting the pressure on and work has been bad today.

Current status single mum with the world on my shoulders, I've not told family or friends of my drama because im scared how they will react. im excited and happy about having another baby but i feel so blue today i just want to curl up and sleep it all off
lonely and sad times ahead i feel.
Xx

JoJoBella84 · 12/07/2012 20:35

Hello :) I think I'm due at the end of Feb/early March... needs confirming but still early days. I'm expecting my first child after almost 10 years of unexplained infertility :D Was such a lovely surprise but also slightly worried about risk of miscarriage etc as I feel I've somehow cheated and I shouldn't really be expecting.. if that makes any sense!
Congratulations to you all and I hope everyone's scans run smoothly :)

pipsicles · 12/07/2012 20:46

It's taken me a little while to catch up and I'm really sorry to hear your news Jessi :( I know you're lurking now, but my thoughts and best wishes are with you for whatever the outcome. You're sounding positive at the moment, which is great, but do make sure you take the time you need regardless. Look after yourself.

Welcome Sunny and congratulations!

After a positive day yesterday (see above, chirpy post!), having a black day today :( I know I need to see dr/epu, but have apt tomorrow morning and I don't feel that it's life threatening, so will just have to wait it out. DH is being very sweet and understanding. I hadn't really counted on how much more difficult early pg would be after mmc, but as he pointed out, we would always have to go through this worry and anxiety because we want another baby! I guess it's parenthood for you - we never stop worrying, whether they are the size of a poppy seed or fully grown adults (so my mum tells me!)

Sorry for being down. Hope everyone else is feeling happier!
