Oh, meant to ask - I have forgotten what the deal with caffeine is, why is it meant to be harmful?

I am still drinking my 4ish cups of tea a day - no coffee though

tiddleypompom · 06/07/2012 13:23

I saw my GP who then gets me in the system. Not heard from mw yet but it hasn't been a week since I saw him and this is the nhs. Think it's the way it works here - could be wrong however & maybe I could have bypassed GP. Mind you he did tell me of his wife's last labour - got out the bath with contractions every 7 mins about to leave for hospital. Two enormous contractions & baby born onto bath towel.

Cripes!

Welcome all newbies!

I really wanted to buy Pregnancy and Birth magazine today, but I live in such a "villagey" place where I know lots of people, and I just knew I would get caught. Seems silly that I am now planning to go to another town to buy a mag..... Grin

I went to see GP on Monday because I was taking medication and I wanted to see if it was safe to continue. If it hadn't been for that then I probably wouldn't have to be honest, unless there was a problem. Last time I made a GP appointment all excited for them to go into lots of detail, but it was just the standard "Congratulations, see the midwife at 8 weeks". And that was with my first!

I've had a bit of cramping too which seems to come and go. I'm finding it odd as I didn't have anything like this last time.

Doraemon - I have been feeling really exhausted this time and I'm pretty sure it wasn't like this before, but like you, I haven't been pg for a long time so can't really remember!

I am another one who thinks it is dragging - I only found out on Sunday, but it seems soooo much longer than that!

posypoo · 06/07/2012 14:22

Dragging here too. I was fretting about labour and birth the other day, and after finally concluding I was ready to give it another go, remembered I was only six weeks pregnant.

tiddleypompom · 06/07/2012 14:43

:o posy

Popinda · 06/07/2012 15:29

Dragging here too! Cant believe it im not even 6 weeks yet! At least im going to get scan at 8 weeks and again at 12! I dont think i would be able to wait till week 12 if i wasnt offered an early scan! I hardly can wait another 2weeks! So amazing to see the little bean! Grin
Im being so exhausted every day!
Is anyone having worrying thought? I keep thinking, what have we done!! We planed this baby and i want it, its just so scary!

Em2010 · 06/07/2012 15:40

Afternoon All

jessi hope your spotting has stopped and you're able to get your feet up today.

Having a very quiet afternoon here as ds has a marathon nap. Been trying to book a private scan for 8 or 9 weeks but it's proving impossible! I will have to make a weekend appointment and take ds Confused. Mayb.e the best thing though because if it is bad news then he's the only person in the world I would want to see.

Wish the weather would cheer up! Ah well at least I'm enjoying the tennis! although a glass of pimms would be nice to go with it

kurlyvoice · 06/07/2012 16:34

Gosh, it's busy in here!

I've come home for a little lie down in front of the tennis as I had some sharp pains in my tummy on the drive home and didn't like them! DS is at nursery so I can just rest and see if they keep happening. I don't remember having cramping when I was pg with him so am finding it a bit worrying as when it hits it's actually making me inhale fast. No spotting or anything but ouch! Also had a few twinges near my collar bone and down my leg. Any advice?

Sorry to be full of questions but this being-an-oven thing is so worrying! And yes, it's totally dragging here - I want to get to the good part...

Lovely to see some more newbies on the thread - make sure you add yourselves to the stats list so we can keep track of each other!

ThreeForTea · 06/07/2012 16:43

Hi, I'm new to the thread, just got my bfp today! So excited and happy! thinking am probably due 11th March. Just went to see gp to beg ask for a six week scan as I had mc in Feb at 10 weeks but they won't so v v nervous about this but am a calm person usually, honest! Look forward to chilling out here with you all :D

Popinda · 06/07/2012 17:20

kurlyvoice i had similar symptoms 2days ago so i went to a&e, they took it very seriously as doc suspected an ectopic pregnancy, because of the shoulder pain and stabbing pain in my lower abdominal. Everything turned out to be fine and i got scan out of it + another one when I'll be 8 weeks. So just to say if you are worried i would def phone the doc. Its very reassuring to get the all clear!

Popinda · 06/07/2012 17:21

Welcome threefortea

EricNorthmansFangBanger · 06/07/2012 17:41

Welcome to all the new bfp's and congratulations!

Sorry to hear some of you are having worries, hope you are all feeling better soon :)

Not too much to report here, woke up early this morning feeling sick. It was a bit weird though, felt burny like heartburn but it wasn't heartburn. And when I burped a little it eased a bit BlushBlush

kurlyvoice · 06/07/2012 18:13

Thanks Popinda. Just rang NHS direct and they said to go to A&E - scared now. Have to wait for my parents to come across to look after DS as I can't face going on my own and we don't want to take him to casualty.

pipsicles · 06/07/2012 18:23

I'm sorry to hear that Kurly, but remember what Popinda said about her experience just a couple of days ago. There is no point panicking until you know you have something to panic about IMO (although I totally appreciate that's easier said than done). All the best - I hope it goes well.

Slow, slow, slow here too! Sometimes I wish I was one of those who wasn't in tune with my body at all and didn't find out until really late, well, after the 1st trimester maybe - perhaps not on the toilet or in the bath when the baby appears!!!

WithNailandI · 06/07/2012 18:36

Hi, I got my bfp too today and DC2 due 10th March. DD is 20 months. I will catch up on thread and come back later! Hope everyone is feeling ok. Rather tmi for my first post but has anyone else had shooting fanjo pains?!?

WithNailandI · 06/07/2012 18:47

kurly - sorry missed your post above. i hope your parents get home soon so you can get to A&E. I know it must be incredibly scary but we are thinking about you and hoping it all works out ok. as pipsicles said don't panic yet. pregnancy can cause all sorts of strange pains

tiddleypompom · 06/07/2012 18:58

Welcome threefortea & withnail (ah, I love that film...)!

kurly so sorry you are having worrying pains - I do hope all is well & you get the all clear (plus maybe a sneaky peek at your little bean). Thinking of you.

Fanjo pains? Not yet......

MrsBradleyCooper · 06/07/2012 18:58

Welcome threefortea and WithnailandI congratulations to you both!

Hope all goes well for you Kurly , thinking of you. I wonder if it is referred pain from a nerve or something?

No shooting fanjo pains for me, but I have had a lot of burning/stinging after I pee. Took a sample up to the docs this afternoon and they said it contained "quite a bit of protein and stuff" Confused so they want me to take another sample in on Monday to get sent to the lab. I'm a bit worried as I have only heard about having protein in your urine late in pg/pre eclampsia. Presumably it is a sign of an infection. They don't want to give me any antibiotics yet as I'm in early pg and they want the lab results back, so I have just to drink loads over the weekend (water and cran juice, not getting sozzled Grin )! Obviously if I feel worse I've to call OOH.

The other thing is that I was feeling really sick, really tired etc, but today I have felt a lot better (apart from the cystitis) and I am now worrying that my symptoms have stopped. It's not the best bit of pregnancy, the start, is it!!

backwardpossom · 06/07/2012 19:00

kurly I hope you're ok x

Hi withnail welcome to the thread! I can't help with the ouchy fanjo, sorry!

I'm so so so tired. I reckon I'm only 4+1!!! Early bed tonight I reckon!

posypoo · 06/07/2012 19:11

Thinking of you kurly. Hello TeaforThree and Withnail. I now really fancy curling up and watching that film tonight. In reality my DD won't go to sleep til gone nine when I'll pass out having read 1.5 pages of my book.

ilpm · 06/07/2012 19:16

kurly I have had the same stabby pains this week that sometimes take my breath away. The gp didn't have an appointment but rang me instead. He seemed to think it was all fine (I've also had some days of light brown discharge) but said that if the pain got worse or I started bleeding I should come in straight away.

I agree about time going slowly. I'm about 7 weeks according to LMP but think I'm technically a week behind due to later ovulation so could be 6 weeks. Do they do your first scan according to LMP dates?

LoisLame · 06/07/2012 19:32

Sorry for being guilty of such thread neglect. Haven't checked in for a few days and we suddenly have 16 pages!

Welcome and congrats to all the newbies Grin looking forward to chatting with you all.

Still having nausea here but no sickness, and still super tired and having crazy dreams. Feeding my DD was starting to get really painful, one boob more so than the other but seems to be calming down now so might have just been position or attachment issues. Going to see a midwife socially tomorrow so will be nice to talk all my worries through with her, especially my stress about my weight and how I will get treated due to it.

And then drum roll booking in with the midwife on Monday Grin

Going to read the thread back now, hoping everyone is well x

milkyjo · 06/07/2012 20:44

Can I join? Found out pregnant on Monday and Tuesday and Thursday but only 4w tomorrow - was only boots own tests. I phoned up the midwife today and got an appointment at 10 weeks! Feeling slightly nauseous and was having mild cramps a week ago but these have stopped now. I look 12 weeks pregnant already! This will be DC2. I'm worried about telling work because I am on my feet all day and work with a lot of hazards to pregnancy, but a lot of people would have to be told in order to minimise exposure to the hazards and I'm concerned about telling people too early!

Hitchingal · 06/07/2012 20:46

kurly fingers crossed you are OK!
Feeling a bit blue here, have told close family but no friends. not been out much for the past few weeks, v little contacts from anyone and feel a bit left out :(
Apart from that just knackered and that weird sick-but-hungry thing.....doc's appt next Thursday morning, can't wait for the scan and to tell work and friends as want to get on with things!

tiddleypompom · 06/07/2012 20:46

Hey there milkyjo! Congratulations on your bfp & welcome on board :o
