*mexem' I'm also 4/5 according to MW Monday, she said she could feel a lot of the head......! From what I've read obsessively googled some babies don't engage until you're in labour so not sure how helpful that is....Wink

twizzlestix · 05/09/2012 16:46

I'm with you loup and rachel at 40+4 today tried everything even went for reflexology session today after vacuuming and giving Kitchin floor a vigorous but unnecessary scrub and...nada, zilch, nothing Sad

I too thought a sweep would be given at 40 week MW app. but nope. I'm booked in for one on Friday and fingerscrossed it'll go same way as tinkers. Feel a bit daft wanting to hurry it along as minor uncomfortable, I'm sleeping well etc but I feel like i'm wasting my mat. leave being home sans baby!

Good luck tinkers Grin

twizzlestix · 05/09/2012 16:48

minor should be I'mnot uncomfortable.
Doh!

MissCoffeeNWine · 05/09/2012 20:50

There seem to be lots of midwife appointments going on. The only thing I know is that the baby is engaged, not how much it's engaged by, it's just written engaged in my notes. That was last week at nearly 39 weeks, I don't have another appointment for two weeks when I'll be 41 weeks. Is that a normal amount of appointments?

WhereAreMyShoes · 05/09/2012 21:31

I've got the midwife tomorrow, I'm 39 weeks today. And she said last time, after this one I'll see her again at 40 weeks and then go from there. I had a trace of protein last time so we'll see if it's got worse.

DP says I should ask to be induced because my SPD is so bad. I said I don't think they'll be having any of it!

moogs1000 · 05/09/2012 21:48

misscoffee I saw my midwife this week 38wk and said she'd see me in 2 weeks. I thought it'd be weekly at this stage but obviously not.

MadMonkeys · 05/09/2012 22:05

I had mw appointment this week (38 weeks) and I've got them weekly now. The mw said she'll do a sweep at the 40 week appointment if I want her too. Can't see any reason not to...

Anyone else fretting about names? DH doesn't like anything on my list but has no alternatives to suggest...

ballroomblitz · 05/09/2012 22:24

I have weekly appointments myself but think it's simply because they are wanting to keep an eye on my bp.

Ds's room was tackled today so that's the whole house deep-cleaned, my batch cooking is done and everything baby related has been washed, packed away, assembled or whatever. All I need now is a little person appearing. I have never been this organised for anything and at 38 weeks tomorrow feel too organised. I'm going to be bored with nothing to do if I go majorly overdue and I don't do relaxing well.

I think we are sorted for a name MadMonkeys . It's one I liked that rhymed with a name that dp liked (and I hated).

Rachel130690 · 05/09/2012 22:26

madmonkeys I'm the complete opposite my Oh has only one name he likes and I have none. And baby due here any day! Gonna be a fun few days trying to come up with some.

I had community Mw app every week from 37weeks, but my normal Mw was off past two weeks and the cover one wouldn't book me in this week as I have hospital appointment this Friday. I wanted booked in to get a sweep but she refused :( though I didn't like her as much as my normal one.

Roll on labour or Friday morning appointment :)

funchum8am · 06/09/2012 05:56

I hope labour is going well for those who have started! I have 2 more days st work then blissful rest. Having weekly spots with Mw as my blood pressure was slightly up on Monday, otherwise it would still have been fortnightly. I can't sleep very well (not really uncomfortable, just can't stop my mind dwelling on last few work things, grr).
I am still not keen on being induced, need to stop stressing about it and dwell on the positive stories I mentioned before but otherwise I am feeling ok. Sympathies to all of you who are overdue or suffering, I think that will be me soon (currently 38wks).

Loup23 · 06/09/2012 08:05

twizzle echo your post completely , house now spotless and feel like maternity leave is being wasted while I wait for baby to arrive Sad

40+5 and nothing! Roll on tomorrow for you and rachel, Monday for me!

Enjoy finishing work funchum hope you can then relax a bit Grin

Good luck to all others , tinker hope your LO has made an appearance! X

Macaroons · 06/09/2012 14:47

I hope labour is going well for those who are overdue! I'm officially due tomorrow but am getting a little impatient as I've had some regular contraction (every 7-10 minutes) for 2 evenings, that stopped the next day. grrrrr. I still have on-and-off contraction during the day today, sometimes quite intense, but it's not regular. Would walking around during the contraction help? (is that what active labour is all about?)

watching The Midwife on BBC iplayer... not sure if that's a good idea or not!

MakeTeaNotWar · 06/09/2012 14:53

macroons I am "working" from home today but also watching Midwives on iplayer - love it! I've seen all the OBEM I think - can I download the US ones from anywhere?

funchums I also finish work tomorrow and it feels plain weird. Of course I am looking forward to time off and meeting baby but I do enjoy my job and the great people I work with - it will def need some time to readjust.

Finally can I urge you - if you have the energy - to get yourselves down to Boots! They're having a massive clearance to make way for Christmas stock (!) with toys up to 80% AND 3 for 2! There wasn't much left in Brighton this morning but I did get a few toys for Bubs first Christmas and some really lovely bedding, cellular blankets and waterproof sheets that were also all massively reduced!

Macaroons · 06/09/2012 15:03

Here's the September stats thread so we can all find our EDD buddies / update the list as the little ones arrive!

Macaroons · 06/09/2012 15:08

maketea thanks for the boots tips but there isn't any boots close to where I live, will have to give that a miss!

I'm also watching the Great British Bake off... makes me drool but I'm just too lazy to do any baking. (Also I don't want the little one to get too big before he comes out!)

really hope the baby will come out soon as I'm getting bored with catch-up TV!

leelteloo · 06/09/2012 22:14

anxious and excited in equal measures for cs tomorrow: hope I get to sleep!

Loup23 · 06/09/2012 23:04

Good luck leeletoo let us know how it all goes, hoping baby macaroons is on its way too Wink

40 + 6 tomorrow Angry feel 'odd' this evening but not getting hopes up Wink

pgreen · 07/09/2012 06:01

Hello lovelies glaad to see babies still arriving daily. Anyone else had a csection this week? I'm still in a lot of pain from doing simple things like sitting up. Also any good advise for blocked ducts? I have two golf ball sized lumps (one in each arm pit) that hurt like hell. Been massaging and hot flannels

WhereAreMyShoes · 07/09/2012 06:53

Good luck Leelteloo Hope it all goes well.
How exciting that you get to meet your baby today!

Pgreen I've not had a CS so don't have any advice for you. But sounds like you're doing the right thing with your blocked ducts. I sometimes used to get it and found massaging the lump towards the nipple while feeding to try to move it along helped. Also hot flannel is good.
Hope it shifts for you.

Midwife yesterday saw protein traces again but still not bothered by it. Unless I see any signs of pre-eclampsia I'm to sit back and wait now. No more midwife appts for me, but booked in to the local birth centre in two weeks, at 41 weeks, for a sweep, accupressure thing and reflexology massage. Then they'll book my possible induction for another week after that. Feel bit abandoned to be honest. I was told I'd have extra bp checks in late pregnancy but that's it now.
So now I must wait it out and be patient for her to arrive. I've a feeling I'll go way overdue and be having her late Sept. Bugger!

Macaroons · 07/09/2012 07:10

Good luck with csection leetle and hope the pain go away pgreen

My contraction got intense last night so went into hospital. Was 3cm dilated. If things don't progress quick enough they may send me home. I really don't want to go home so hope I get to 4-5cm dilated when they next check me! It's my EDD today so hope baby is punctual!

Good luck to those still waiting for their babies to arrive!!

ballroomblitz · 07/09/2012 08:07

Good luck for your cs today leetleloo .

I haven't had one this week pgreen but when I did even doing simple tasks hurt like hell for a couple of weeks. Had problems sitting up and then my aunt visited and made me laugh - Ouch, ouch, ouch. Holding a pillow over the scar when moving was the only thing that helped.

I've been having trace protein quite a lot too wherearemyshoes . I've been told not to worry unless it hits +.3 . Are you self-testing at home as well?

Hoping you have little one in your arm now or very soon Macaroons

MissCoffeeNWine · 07/09/2012 08:08

I had my baby at home yesterday, so I've another punctual one. Went as we hoped luckily, managed to avoid being examined, physiological third stage, left the cord until well after the placenta was out, avoided the clamps. Happily had minimal blood loss and no tearing. Pushing was pretty traumatic this time and scared dd a bit but it all worked out well . Baby is 7,14 and full of shouting. Now to crack feeding and sleeping. Good luck macarooms and leetle and everyone else waiting, congrats to the new arrivals. I never did pack that hospital bag!

cjbk1 · 07/09/2012 10:18

Just had a bit of a bad/pathetic moment; listening to 'one day like this' by Elbow on the golden hour made me cry (coz of children the in need video and poor starving children Sad ) then I got a nose bleed all over myself then I got the idea to carry on taking the rubbish out-covered in blood and tear stained! I must have looked a sight! what was I doing?

WhereAreMyShoes · 07/09/2012 11:45

Congratulations MissCoffeeNWine sounds like you had a very chilled out time. Well done!

BallroomBlitz no I've not been told to test at home. Can you buy the kits instead? I think I'd find it much less stressful if I could check it myself.

twizzlestix · 07/09/2012 12:39

Congrats misscoffee and I hope you're snuggling your little one now macaroons

No news here am 40+6 and having sweep this pm :(
