Aww congratulations Misscoffee . Boy or girl? Have you decided on a name yet?

I don't know if you can buy them wheremyshoes but from a quick google it appears you can. I get mine on prescription from the hospital. Maybe ring your gp and ask them if you can get them on script as you are stressing and worried - which obviously isn't good for baby. My health center is great for things like that when you are pregnant.

Rachel130690 · 07/09/2012 13:31

Congrats misscoffee bet your glad to have your baby here, sounds like you had a good experience..

I'm 40+4 today :( went to hospital this morning.. There was a massive fuck up :( they had changed my appointment about as my Mw had asked for me to be seen by consultant and because I was sent to another hospital they transferred all my care to there, (even though you can't labour there) so me and Oh drive 30 mins to hospital to be told I have no appointment but they will try and get a doctor to see me as soon as one is free.
Luckily enough we weren't waiting too long. Got my scan and everything's fine with baby :) is only 3-4/5ths according to my notes :( but I was 1-2cm dilated. Had a sweep done which so far to date is the worst thing I've ever experienced. But doc said she done a good sweep so will hopefully kick things off. Fingers crossed people. And I've been given next Thursday 13th as my induction day. They will ring on Wednesday with a time..

Oh says we better be at hospital tonight having a baby as he is sick of waiting and I should let his son out. I'm glad to hear this as I was getting slightly worried about how commuted he was. So now I'm happy..

So I'm hoping that between sweep this morning, Hot curry last night, my pineapple and a bounce on the ball I'll have some news this weekend :)

twizzle hope your sweep goes well this afternoon..

Hotcupofteaplease · 07/09/2012 14:48

Hi all,
Congratulations Misscoffee!

Another new arrival here 3 days early; baby girl Hotcup arrived at 05.24am yesterday morning after a very quick 4 hour labour, weighing 7lb 15oz.
Pains started at 1am, waters went at 2.30am but were full of meconium so went to hospital at 4am and delivered less than 1.5 hours later. I was 8cm dilated when I got there so no time for pain relief... ouch! Had a second degree tear, so needed some stitches unfortunately.
We were discharged from hospital 5 hours later and back home by midday.

DS is absolutely thrilled with her; he keeps stroking her hands and saying 'she's beautiful!' Grin

No name yet; we just can't decide!

Hope everyone else is doing well; for those in labour, hope it is progressing as quickly and painlessly as possible!

xxx

Loup23 · 07/09/2012 15:42

Congrats hotcup and misscoffee lovely birth stories Grin

Good luck rachel and twizzle, I am being induced this afternoon!! Seems leaking on weds night was waters breaking and the baby has been plugging it in the day so hospital putting me on a drip later to kickstart due to risk of infection.... Gutted my body doesn't seem to want to labour naturally but excited to meet LO hopefully tomorrow, possibly sunday - cervix completely closed so potentially a looooong wait Hmm

Good luck to all others xx

MakeTeaNotWar · 07/09/2012 16:03

Congratulations misscoffee and hotcupoftea wow amazing! Good luck loup, looking forward to hearing your news soon.

I'm just wrapping up my last day in the office - feels weird! Been treated to a mammoth lunch, big bouquet and some JoJo vouchers - very spoilt!

twizzlestix · 07/09/2012 16:05

Wow! Congrats hotcup another pink bundle :) I wonder what the ratio of pink to blue is at the moment. It seems to be very pink...

Sorry you've been messed around rachel I had my sweep. Didnt hurt at all do either my MW is v gentle or I'm a bucket Hmm she struggled initially but found cervix was long but stretchy 1-2cm and head is at spine so 0/5th felt above pelvis! Apparently touched top of babies head. Fingerscrossed it'll get us going!

loup at least you know your baby will be here soon then! Waiting is nearly over! I hope your induction goes well and isn't too lengthy a process. Good luck!

Hotcupofteaplease · 07/09/2012 16:24

Good luck Loup, Twizzle and Rachel... looks like you will all have your little ones very soon!

I wonder how Macaroons is getting on...

Agree Twizzle; I think we've had a few more pinks than blues so far.

Wishing everyone healthy and safe deliveries x

Thali34 · 07/09/2012 17:30

Ooh so much action, how lovely. Welcome to all the lovely new bundles. And thanks for nice quick birth stories! Thinking of all of you popping out babies, hope goes smoothly.

I'm 40 weeks today but so far not a peep! Mw appt (and possible sweep) next week Fri but hope it doesn't come to that! Have had a very chilled week and lovely lazy day but I'm officially over being pregnant now... Sick of heartburn especially.... ugh!!

funchum8am · 07/09/2012 18:17

Wah so many arrivals! Congratulations to all of you. I have now finished at work and ready to start feeling enormous and counting down the days! Wonder who will be last....?

Rachel130690 · 07/09/2012 18:57

Congrats hotcupoftea you def had a very quick labour, wonder what mine will be like. Hmm

Awk loup I hope things start for you soon, and that your labour will be quick :) bet you can't wait to meet your wee baby..

twizzle fingers crossed for you, hopefully it was enough to get things started for you,

I've had a small amount of show today, not a lot but it gives me some hope, bit of pain as well so hopefully it maybe the start. Been bouncing all day on the ball and making figure 8s like I was told to, and I ate as much pineapple as I could before my tongue got too sore.. :( but have more for later so may try some more after tea :)

Am feeling very nauseous (sp?) and like I'm gonna be sick for a while now, could be the lack of food atm..

MakeTeaNotWar · 07/09/2012 22:00

Oooh rachel that sounds very promising - how far along are you? I'm 37 + 3 so could be looking at another month still waaaaaaaaaaaaaah !!

MakeTeaNotWar · 07/09/2012 22:01

Oh 40 + 4 sorry you did say above - good luck!!

ballroomblitz · 07/09/2012 22:43

Congrats hotcup and your ds sounds brilliant. Almost brought tears to my eyes. I hope my ds is as enthralled.

I've found the ratio of girls to boys astounding even in my circle of friends. I can count four girls in the last few months and three girls still to come. Not one single boy recently.

I really hate the idea of a sweep rachel, mainly because I find I feel strangely violated for a few hours after a smear. The joys of being a woman. I'm not surprised you feel sick if you've been eating a lot of pineapple Grin . I won't even bother trying that one as I know I'll just be murdered with heartburn. Hopefully things are beginning to happen for you though.

Midwife today and finally bubbs is beginning to engage and she's about 3/5ths. Bp still a little high but ok.

Was reading a little on the internet about ways to bring on labour (curiousity more than anything - I don't think I could be bothered trying myself) and couldn't believe one of the forums where ladies of 34/35 weeks were trying nipple stimulation to bring on labour as they felt huge and fed up with being pregnant. I was quite shocked that anyone would try to have a premature baby.

Macaroons · 07/09/2012 23:58

Congrats misscoffee and hotcupoftea and thanks for thinking of me!

My baby is still inside me. Cervix has only dilated 3-4 cm so they say that's not active labour. they wanted to send us home, we agreed with that decision at about 2pm but then they noticed baby's heart rate was very high so they put me on continuous monitoring for HOURS. Then at 7pm they thought they wanted to break my water, they then changed their minds 11pm and sent me to another ward with a crying baby. I now get contractions every 3 min now waiting to be examined in the hope that i could go into a quieter room. Hope I'll get a baby in my arms tomorrow!!!

Good luck to those still waiting!

leelteloo · 08/09/2012 04:19

Euan was born on the 7th sept @ 11.57, weighing 7lbs 10oz. He is so cute. He was "grunting" most of the day, which means he wasn't breathing right so had to be closely monitored. Paediatrician said it was quite common in c-section babies, so we tried not to worry and by 7pm he was feeding and doing much better- phew. As for the op, big problem getting spinal block in Sad but once some lovely sedatives had been given to me it was relatively ok. As you can see from time of post, I'm on my 2nd night with no sleep: last night due to anxiety and tonight just can't sleep, even with all the drugs on board, again quite common with 1st nite after a section. I'm worried about my ability to cope with no sleep but just have to hope I get sleep tomorrow. Dh and Dm will have all baby duty I think.
On the plus side I am so totally in love with my boy that it's all worth it and then some.
Too wired to take in who has delivered in last 24 hr but congrats to you all Grin

Macaroons · 08/09/2012 04:46

leelteloo congrats to having euan in your arms! It's a very nice name! Rest well from the csection!

Looking at time of my post you could also tell I'm also having a sleepless night. Sad it's impossible to fall asleep with contractions happening every 5 minutes, and a new born baby at the next bed crying every now and then! Hope I have strength to cope with labour in the next 24 hours.

For those of you about to go into labour I'd highly highly recommend the tens machine. It's life-saving. I wouldnt be able to cope till this moment without it!

leelteloo · 08/09/2012 05:43

Oh poor you Macaroons! How's things progressing? I'm feeling more and more spaced out. But got drugs on the way so there's hope of a bit of shut eye yet. Xx

Smallgreenone · 08/09/2012 06:34

Congratulations to all the new arrivals! They're coming thick and fast now these September babies.
loup they induced me early too due to waters and my cervix was totally closed. The consultant said he'd do a max of 12 hours on the drip as he didn't want me or the baby to get too tired - in the end after 7 hours my cervix hadn't budged and he called it a day and did the CS so you might not have that long to wait if it goes like mine did! He was a lovely man though he even did the op himself and gave me cosmetic stitches and the midwives say you will not see the scar at all once it's healed- I haven't dared look yet though!
Rafferty is 13 days old today and currently snoozing on my chest after his feed. I could sit here all day with him, it's lovely!

Rachel130690 · 08/09/2012 08:27

leeletoo congrats on the birth of your boy, good to see a few more boys coming out :)

ballroom I completely agree with you, I'm only 22 so I've never had a smear before not sure what age you start to get them. So I wasn't sure what to expect but I honestly felt violated afterwards and a bit faint.

I realised I'm a bit of a wuss and am now dreading labour but I want my baby out ASAP so I'm happy/willing to go through it to get him in my arms. :) just not sure he is wanting same things. Seems to be a bit like me in that I'm late for everything. Shall have to work on being more punctual :)

macroons hopefully by now you've had your baby or are very close to it. How exciting :) hope things are going well for you..

Had a bit more show in the middle of the night, not sure what time at. But hopefully it's gonna kick off here soon.. I'll keep everyone informed :)

CluelessMama · 08/09/2012 09:27

Hello all, and massive congratulations to those of you who have lovely, snuggly new arrivals Smile. I'm loving reading all the happy news, hopefully more soon.
I read the thread every day but haven't posted in ages, just wanted to say thanks to all those who have posted birth plans, hospital bag items etc...it has really helped me to think things through and feel like I'm a bit more prepared.
I'm 38 weeks today - maketea and funchum I have really identified with your recent posts about possibly having weeks to go and maybe even being last on the thread!! I'm keeping really well, saw MW a week ago and she was happy so no appointment til Friday, though she said to go in if I want checked out since she'd left two weeks between appointments. I never thought I was a control freak, but the thing I am REALLY struggling with is not knowing when it's all going to happen. I usually have things planned and in my diary!! It's such a tricky thing to be ready in case it's tonight, but patient because it could be four weeks away! Also trying to balance the fact that I'm keen to stay active and I'm sometimes more comfortable on the move than on the sofa, but also know I should be trying to get some rest too. And on that note, I'm off to figure out what I can do this weekend to distract me from the wait!!
Good luck to all!!

funchum8am · 08/09/2012 09:51

cluelessmama I feel exactly as you do. I want to stay active but know I should rest so off to Roman sites of St Albans today to wander a bit but then slob out all afternoon. I have nothing planned for the next month so feel bored but then again much of the month could end up filled with caring for a newborn, esp if they come a little early!

Congratulations to all the most recent arrivals! And good luck rachel I hope things are progressing for you.

Loopyhasanotherbean · 08/09/2012 10:10

hi all, few days absence so only briefly read back on the thread, so apologies for non-name checking...

so had the sweep on tuesday, it ramped up contractions and lost plug and started to lose membranes over night but went to hospital as arranged for 8am on wed morning for ELCS. They said they could break my waters to enable a VBAC attempt but the consultant examined me and said baby had gone back to back, so we had to stick to the original plan of ELCS. They had problems getting him out, despite no real labour and no pushing, he had got his 91st centile head jammed into my pelvis and they had to use forceps to drag him out, but 9lb 3 1/2oz baby Alexander came out kicking and screaming with an APGAR of 9, as hands slightly blue. So different from EMCS with DS1. I feel so much better and was a much more positive and calm experience, with memories we will both treasure forever, it has put a lot of ghosts to bed. And will be CS's for me in the future, they think my pelvis is making the babies turn to back to back as i go into labour, and that i can't deliver babies with 91st centile heads - and both of ours have had that exact same head size...cheers to DP for the big head genes :) No PPH, no infections, no complications at all really, other than A being tongue tied but it doesn't seem to be affecting feeding. Getting a cannula in was a bit of a problem as i have bad veins and they'd ruined 3 of the 4 main sites on the day before, couldn't access the 4th so had to then put it in across my wrist, meaning every time i bent my wrist upwards (like whenever i leaned on my hand) the cannula was tensing into my arm, very unpleasant. Vomiting on the operating table surprised me, it happened very quickly as i naturally have low blood pressure, the spinal was unpleasant to be administered and my god that spray was cold. Got the shakes a little bit, but it soon passed over.

We came home yesterday afternoon and so good to be home. Milk came in late yesterday, and A fed till 11.48pm and then slept until 7.15am! He is such a calm and contented little baby, such a difference to our DS1 who had reflux and wouldn't sleep unless held by me, and who would scream whenever he passed wind or poo. A farts for England without batting an eyelid and has no issues pooing, he is an absolute angel so far :)

Very uncomfortable when trying to get up, wound is a lot sorer than first CS, they said this could be because of forceps/force needed to pull him out combined with his size, or could be down to adhesions from last CS but they don't know and i didn't manage to see my consultant before we left to find out if i did have bad adhesions or not. Hoping that it heals quickly as the sooner i can get up from a chair/in and out of bed easier the better! Until then i'll keep popping the pills!

congratulations to those who have delivered, and good luck to those who are still waiting!

flipflopper · 08/09/2012 11:32

Hi everyone, I havent posted for ages, but have been keeping an eye on the thread- congratulations to all those who have given birth already! I am a bit Envy as I was secretly hoping this one would surprise us and come early, but it isnt going to happen!

Due date is tomorrow, according to scan, according to LMP is tuesday. I dont really want to be induced as I managed to go into labour on my own last time at 41 weeks. My first was induced at 41 weeks.

Im feeling so heavy, even though im not that big- people keep saying I look really small, which is quite annoying, as I feel big and cumbersome!

Ive been getting loads of braxton hicks, sometimes they are painful, but no more than period pains, and Ive been getting backache. Sometimes if I do too much I get cramps, which has been getting my hopes up, but then nothing!

Anyone else getting sick of the phone calls? Just ringing to check youre ok! Grrr! Hope everyone has a good weekend xxx

Thali34 · 08/09/2012 11:36

Hang in there ladies, especially those of you verging on something maybe happening. I'm 40+1 so its still early days but I can see this is going to get harder. On tenterhooks, constantly on lookout for warning twinges, feeling a bit on edge and quite tearful. At least it's weekend and DH is around. Hopefully we'll go out and do something nice a bit later to keep me occupied.

CluelessMama I know exactly what u mean, I like to plan and know where I stand and the complete unknown of when and how things might happen is SO hard.

Have no appetite but probably need to eat and keep strength up...

shoeprincess2 · 08/09/2012 16:37

Hi ladies! Just got home today after my ELCS on Thursday. I am the proud mum of baby Oliver, who arrived at 4.27pm that day weighing 8lb 2oz. I was first on the list for ELCS, but lots of emergencies bumped me down the list. Not that I was too bothered, as it gave me chance to try and relax a little and get my BP down. It was absolutely heaving at the maternity unit- lots of September babies!! Oliver had a great agpar score at 1 minute old- 9 out of 10, which was fab. We both got the ok to leave this morning, so just had to wait for the paperwork to be done and we were home for just after 1pm. My 2 year old Thomas, just keeps smiling at him and saying baby (and then trying to pat him, but a little too heavy handedly- we have to keep showing him how gentle he needs to be with him). Good luck for all the ladies still waiting for their bundles and hope all the new mummies out there are enjoying their snuggles with their babies! S xx
