Hello all! 39+4 today. Had regular contractions every 7 minutes last night for at least 3 hours, they were painful enough to stop me from falling asleep so I had some paracetamol (as I thought I'd better sleep more before real labour kicks in) did fall back asleep thankfully, but this morning when I woke up i dont feel much contraction anymore! There's some brownish discharge yesterday morning but nothing today (sorry TMI) hope baby is on his way!!

Good luck to those still waiting!

Ju1es22 · 04/09/2012 14:41

Good luck Macaroons if its any conselation my labour started like that! 6am Sunday painful contractions every 10 minutes for an hour though they went away completley, they came back at 18:00 again for an hour every 5 minutes. Then back again at 9pm every 5 minutes - when they were really painful went in for check at half 11 wmy contractions were as 2cm dialated at completley effaced (not surprising as it had been effaced since 28 weeks though!) and it went from there!

Established labour started around 00:00 contraction suddenly got extremley painful (was stopping what I was doing and leant over hanging onto sofa/wall!) and were 2 minutes apart and decided to get myself to hospital as soon as! We arrived at hospital 01:45 (hospital's 30 mins away and had to wait for my Mum to arrive) and baby Eva was born at 03:15!!

moogs1000 · 04/09/2012 20:57

ju1es Thanks so much for offer but tens company phoned me this morning and offered me elle tens instead for half price, so got it new for £39 and should be here tomorrow! Thanks again, very kind and glad you'd want it back that tells me it worked! Smile

Noticed in bath tonight that looks like stretchmarks r on the way! I'll be covered if baby stays in much longer! Thought I'd been too lucky to avoid them.

Loopyhasanotherbean · 04/09/2012 21:32

just a quickie from me. have had lots of braxton hicks over last week, and then started getting contractions or tightenings again last night, every 5-6 minutes from 9pm through the night and they continued through the day. Had to go to hospital for pre-op checks today anyhow, so mw did an examination and a stretch/sweep in the hope it kicks things off tonight before tomorrows ELCS. Got home and when went to the loo had lost the remainder of my mucus plug, absolutely loads, which was about 2 hours after the sweep at most. So no idea if anything will happen from this, but if not, then will still be meeting our baby tomorrow, just that i'd rather have had an attempt at VBAC if baby was in right position which we think he is at the moment, but guess odds are small now so facing facts that going to be a 6 week recovery, but hopefully will have a much easier time than from my horrendous EMCS...

Macaroons · 04/09/2012 22:23

loopy hope there will be some action tonight! Good luck tomorrow!

ballroomblitz · 04/09/2012 22:31

Fingers crossed for all you ladies that are getting signs of an imminent arrival. Hope you get a chance at your vbac Loopy . I know how you feel wanting to try vbac rather than cs. I have heard that the recovery for electives are far easier than emcs, as are second sections rather than first. My first was elective (emergency but not classed as one as wasn't in labour) and although it was hard enough I think a lot of it was due to being prem. I have to say I had no problems after though and I healed very well. Good luck for tomorrow whatever way you go.

Two of my friends have just had babies over the last couple of days - both girls and both 7lb 5. Now it's just me and another friend who both have the same due date - wonder which of us will be first? My pelvis is really starting to go now and I'm hobbling about the place so hope d-day isn't too far away.

Ju1es22 · 04/09/2012 23:19

Aww good glad your sorted moogs! It did work but not for long as I progressed very fast:-)

The offers there for anyone else just let me know, I live in the centre of town so can easily post it!

Good luck loopy but as you say if it doesn't kick off you'll get to meet babs tomorrow how exiting:-)

WhereAreMyShoes · 04/09/2012 23:21

Good luck ladies. It's so nice to see you all making your way to newborn-ness.
It's certainly helping me feel a bit less shit when the pain of heavy pregnancy is getting me down.
The baby's movements are agony at times. It feels as if she's literally going to come through my skin. If I put my hand on my under-carriage to try to 'hold in' the pains, I can feel her head pushing against my hand. Weirdo.
I think she must be bigger than my son was as I certainly don't remember it being this painful. He was 6lb10oz born at 39+1
Also, she clicks when she moves. It's definitely not me clicking, I can feel when that happens, sometimes she makes my back click when she kicks. But it's her making that noise. I'm going to get them to double check her hips and stuff when she's born.

I ache, I hurt, and silly things make me emotional. Due date not till next Wed so hoping the last stretch goes quick enough.
Bleugh.

Next baby please!

Macaroons · 04/09/2012 23:21

Ju1es and thanks for sharing your labour experience. Hope mine will be a relatively quick one too. How are you getting on with Eva? Smile settling well?

Rachel130690 · 04/09/2012 23:39

Okay so pains started happening earlier but think they where just Bh AGAIN!! :( As nothing has happened since.

So I've actually been down on my hands and knees helping my Oh scrub grout off our new tiles. Think I read here it's meant to help?? Also been walking up and down garden all day, tomorrow I'm cutting into my new pineapple. :) I'm literally trying everything.

Heartburn has come back tonight, omg I forgot how bad it can be, have tried all my usual stuff but nothing is working :( and it's making me gag and cough loads. Very unpleasant..

I've got so much stuff done today re baby clothes and baby's room in the hope he will come out. No such luck today.

Ju1es22 · 05/09/2012 07:25

That's OK macaroons:-) Were doing great she's just had 6am feed for 30 mins and currently lay snuggled I to my chest, so far she's very chilled out sleeps through anything g and barely crystal hope it lasts!

Good luck all! Rachel the tulip I'd say with mine as you see above stopped started early on, I could tell the weren't by the pain started in my lower back and wrapped round my belly down low if that helps, I know its different for everyone though I'd had strong by for weeks before labour got more and frequent up until labour:-)

Don't know if anyone noticed my post to moogs? I've got an Elle tens we bought brand new that I barely used as I progressed too quick (though it did help ease the early pains!) Its really easy to use. If anyone wants to borrow pm me your address and I'll post it today next day delivery! You'll need new pads for it, but I'd like it back! Could save you £25 plus so first come first serve ladies:-)

Ju1es22 · 05/09/2012 07:29

EBay 4 large tens tens electrodes £3.99 with free first class postage ladies:-)

Ju1es22 · 05/09/2012 07:35

Sorry Rachel baby brain and predictive typing lol! Meant to say what I'd say too tired to spell check rest think I'll go back to bed:-)

Loup23 · 05/09/2012 08:27

Morning ladies sorry for the me post just wanted some quick advice...,,

In the night u have Ben up about 5 times to wipe (sorry tmi) due to being v wet.... The fluid isn't flowing iyswim but doesn't feel like normal cm. I'm 4 days late today, do you think I should call the day assessment unit or is it wasting their time?! Thanks all and good luck to those experiencing early signs of imminent arrivals GrinGrin

shoeprincess2 · 05/09/2012 09:27

Loup23- this happened to me last time round. There are the forewaters that can go with a big gush and then the hind waters, that just go trickle. Mind just trickled, so i phoned the maternity unit and they told me to shove a pad underneath and then keep an eye on the fluid for any signs of meconium etc. I had to phone back 2 hours later, and I said that the fluid was clear but hadn't soaked the pad. They asked me to come in so that they could check me over. As i was already 8 days overdue, i was booked in for an induction the following day, so i was just sent back home. I would give them a ring (and no, it isn't wasting their time). Your waters probably have gone, so it is worth speaking to them. Good luck. S x

Ju1es22 · 05/09/2012 09:45

Congratulation walkingnightmare you have my te s to borrow! Sorry ladies:-) xx

Loup23 · 05/09/2012 12:19

Thanks so much for your response shoe I called the hosp and they have reassured me so have to keep an eye on it for two hours and then call back but seems to have stopped and nothing since 6am do the wait goes on - how is everyone else getting on?

Thanks also to twizzle and funchum for earlier advice re induction. Hoping it doesn't happen but won't feel so bad if it does, as funchum said, by nearly 42 weeks I don't think I'll care how they get it out!! Grin x

TinkerMaloo · 05/09/2012 13:10

sweeps work! had one this am and as she stoppeed my waters went! got to go up to the hospital to be monitored for a bit, but am contracting about every ten mins :) Yay! :) hopefully they will send me home though to get on with it here...

Rachel130690 · 05/09/2012 13:20

tinker that's good news.. Hopefully another birth announcement soon :)

I was refused a Mw appointment at my clinic yesterday as community Mw says I don't need seen by her as I've app on Friday in hospital, was hoping I'd get in and she'd give me a sweep to try and get things started but no such luck. Feels like Friday is ages away and I hate this waiting. If I was to ring community mw elsewhere do you think they'd see me and do one. I just want it to start.

I'm only 2 days overdue and I'm almost for switching my phone off. Every morning my dad rings to see if there's any news, my auntie texts and now my sisters have started. :( I shouldn't be getting this annoyed already but I refuse to reply to any texts asking if I'm still here? I'm hardly gonna have baby and not tell everyone. Okay rant over feeling slightly better :) off to scrub floors again and mop :)

Loup23 · 05/09/2012 13:47

rachel I'm so with you, 4 days late and fed up with 'any twinges' questions Angry my MW wouldn't do a sweep in Monday - is this your first? MW said she will sweep next Monday - when I'm 9 days late.....so hoping something kicks in before, good luck to you - I've cleaned whole house this morning!!

Exciting news 'tinker' so looking forward to a sweep!! Hope to hear arrival news soon! Grin

NightmareWalking · 05/09/2012 13:59

Thanks Ju1es Smile

How exciting Tinker - might we get our first 'live on thread' birth? Grin

MissCoffeeNWine · 05/09/2012 14:13

That's funny, the risks of the waters accidentally going is one of the risks of a sweep and why I turn them down, but I'm glad you're happy TinkerMaloo, here's to a wonderful birth for you.

Hope you get some answers about your waters Loup.

Rachel130690 · 05/09/2012 14:18

loup yes this is my first. Would that make a difference, is this your first? Shall just have to wait til Friday if nothing happens before. And beg for sweep then, I'm afraid of having to be induced and not getting onto midwifery led unit. :(

Okay so I talking to mum and was saying I'd been Hoovering today and moped and scrubbed kitchen floors (we re-tiling our floor) so was loads of grout on tiles that needed scrubbed off. Mum reckons I should be resting up and I think I should keep busy but have regular breaks between. So who's right?

Thali34 · 05/09/2012 14:47

Hi ladies, and congrats and the new babies. So exciting! Hope those with labour twinges progress well and fast.

39+5 here but thoroughly enjoying mat leave and some leisure time!
MW told me a week ago that baby is in position, engaged and ready to go! Same yesterday. Advice was lots of uphill walks and bedtime activities to bring things on and avoid induction. So will be popping out of a walk and a coffee/ice cream this afternoon. :)

Felt first real twinges yesterday, tightening plus minor back cramps. Haven't noticed any BH at all (until now?)

Mexem, 4/5 means the baby's head is 1/5 engaged, ie she can feel 4/5 of head but 1/5 has descended into yr pelvis. Is good! Mw told me that at 33 weeks and I nearly fell off the bed! It sounds the opposite to what it means... To me anyway, so sounds like head is right down there.

Where r my shoes - I've heard a couple of clicks too, really freaked me out but it has stopped. Was definitely baby making the noise!!!!

meXem · 05/09/2012 15:06

Thanks Thali34 I must admit 4/5 sounded further along to me and freaked me out a bit! As much as I can't stand to be pregnant any longer, I am most certainly no where near ready to meet littlun (still have no cot or space to put it yet! :s)
