quickchat your description of the bikini wax you want made me laugh out loud. You really wanted to give us crystal clarity, and I salute you for your honesty!

I have been waxed before, and didn't mind it but only got it done 3 times ever in the 11 years DH and I have been together as he prefers my ladygarden as nature intended it Wink Thank the Lord for that, as it's such a faff getting it done I really can't be bothered!

quickchat · 26/06/2012 21:19

Whoa ladies Confused.I DO NOT WANT A BRAZILIAN. Especially after the description of frilly on all fours Shock.

Nooooo what I mean is, Id like a normal wax but a bit neater/in a bit and no bum crack hair. Im so glad I ran my description by you though.
It seems I cannot explain myself properly and had I decided to try the very same explanation on the waxer - Id be one very embarrassed Pg lady in labour with a bald fanjo.

I don't know about other PG fanjo's but I feel mine is better with a little coverage at this point in time Grin thank you very much.

Now that I know so many of you are going in au natural I may just stick with a short back and sides! They clearly, HAVE seen it all before!

Caitycat · 26/06/2012 21:25

Hello everyone, can I join please? I'm due on 25th in Sheffield. Fingers crossed everything has been fine so far just a bit anaemic - started taking iron but made me feel much worse so trying to sort it out through diet. Have had a read through as much as this as I can so feel I know you all a bit already!

Welcome Caitycat! You've joined us at a particularly sharing moment so feel free to join in with your experiences of leaking, waxing and everything in between Grin

NCT tonight and we talked about all the different pain relief options for labour. What are all your thoughts at the mo? I'll only be allowed G&A at home and figure if I do end up in hospital it'll be an emergency so I'll just take what I'm given!

ishopthereforeiam · 26/06/2012 23:50

quick lol maybe it's the american you're after but a s lightly more extreme version?

My first (and only) Brazilian left me horrified when she asked me to go on all fours and prised my bum apart.... my reaction "No-one will see that in a bikini so you can stop thanks!"...

On that happy note, sweet dreams all.

OP posts:
frillylemons · 27/06/2012 07:41

Baha ishop! My first Brazillian left me feeling like Mr T! Just one strip of hair! If ever I get that wax now I go for a triangle rather than a strip. TBH, I am Envy of those of you whose DH/DP are happy for it to be au natural down there. Mine prefers tidy, and so do I, but it's hard at the mo cause it hurts more Sad

Was scared I was having an actual contraction last night. Whenever I turn over at night it really hurts my back so I wake up. However, this one time at band camp... last night it hurt my bump aaaaall over. Like a dull ache for a few secs. Then it sopped and I went back to sleep Smile can't be anything to worry about!

Happy Wednesday! I'm taking AL from 11am and DH and I are going to put up nursery furniture Grin Happy days! All that's left after that is to put down some skirting board and the curtains Smile It feels like we are really getting somewhere Smile

MrsMigginslovespies · 27/06/2012 10:27

Likewise, my Brazilian experiences (only two) left me too naked feeling and a bit creepy, so back to normal short back and sides.

Have a rank cold now and feel crap. About to go to a breastfeeding thing and can't be bothered, but feel I should. Meh.

MIL and my Mum are meeting for lunch today Confused. They do from time to time but it always un-nerves me! MIL already indicated to my Mum last night on the phone about how complicated the curtains are. They're not. They're unlined cream curtains that require some blackout linings putting in. This is why I hate people interferring with things and wish she'd let me get on with it myself when I wanted to two weeks ago. First and last time, esp as MIL said to my Mum that I'd been quite firm about what I wanted (IE a normal curtain rail, with curtains, not a custom-made expensive blind for a house we don't own, nor are going to be in for ages for a stupid tiny window). Grump grump. Am boring myself about this, let alone you ladies!

Off to see to DDog who is improving day by day and then to class. Hope everyone is less grumpy than me today ;) x

geekette · 27/06/2012 10:58

I just can't stop laughing at all the stories of the first time bikini waxes. I understand the appeal, it's just not for me.
And I guess I kind of think, if he thinks his can be bushy then so can mine?
And you don't get that hairy really. Actually if you let it be, after a certain length, it just stops getting longer (If not most men would have shoulder length beards in that region and they don't!). I never bothered figuring out why...

Ah the MILs and Mums Grin No you aren't boring us. I realised they are much easier to deal with when they are not yours! My neighbour's mum got her 6 undersized panties from some market somewhere. eek! My neighbour wouldn't take them so her Mum knocked on my door to see if they would fit me. The hilarity of the moment overrode any feelings of shock Grin

Hope DDog is doing better...

Lovemarmite · 27/06/2012 11:51

I've gone from squirming about the waxing to giggling about the stories of bottom prizing - how funny! Hmm not for me thanks!
I guess I'm not very hairy as my hair is blondie red and even my leg hair is not very noticeable as I tell that to myself after years of living au naturel! ha ha what a hippy
But seriously might have to ask mw to see what my hospital does - shaves or not shaves, I think I'm now squirming again.
Loved the one day in band camp reference frilly!

Hope the MIL and mother lunch doesn't wind you up Mrsmiggins. We put our foots down for my mother to get all friendly with MIL - they are soo different and wound each other the first time they met, they live far away and it would feel really weird to have those two planning things, bickering and bitching - noo way! But with LO on the way, they may have to meet again and that spells interesting times.

Know what you mean about moving in bed frilly, I have to wake up to turn over and my bump feels a little odd as I think Lo then has to adjust to my movement. I think she's lying transverse and so I worry about lying on her head at the moment.

Getting delivery of our bugaboo bee today, yippee!... yesterday the cot bed and chest of drawers arrived as did the moses basket and bedding - wow, all in one week!

hamncheese · 27/06/2012 12:42

I don't dehair because it always always always ends in a rash and that ugly growing back in stage. Honestly, it's meant to be that way, adult women have hair down there. I'm a hypocrite becasue I do my legs and underarms, but mostly because it doesn't result in pain and rash and such. Plus only me and DH see down there routinely and he is man enough for me au natural Wink

I'm guessing now anyone who has been for a Brazilian will have nothing to worry about if they need to show the doctor haemorrhoids!!!

frilly I've had that bump ache at night a few times... turns out it was trapped wind each time Blush was really sore though

I've just finished the (very) rough draft of my first chapter for my PhD Grin once it is all done that's me for baby time! Kind of worried about finishing it too soon and having nothing to do whilst massive and waiting, but at the same time can't risk it not being finished and baby being early.

Got the car as DH is in London. He got the sleeper last night and the idiots at reception of his work booked him a seat, not a bed. A seat... on the sleeper, wtf? The whole point of him going on sleeper was so he wouldn't be away from me for long as he comes back up this afternoon feel bad for him not getting to sleep! And a seat meant no shower either. Anyway having the car = ham at ikea = ham with no money as all money will be left at ikea hehe

hamncheese · 27/06/2012 12:44

Oh forgot to mention, still got the itch. Bit less today but still there and piriton doesn't remove it Hmm

What piriton does do though is make you sleep like a dead person, seriously so drowsy with it. I expect this is very wrong to say but if the insomnia returns I'll be seriously considering it!!

tashaw28 · 27/06/2012 13:49

Jumping on the hair wagon...but with DS2 I knew it was going to be a planned c section as he was breech, so I had 2 inches waxed off top (sides not important for a c section!!) anyway it was best thing as scar was all healed b4 hair grew back and now it's completely hidden by hair!Wink
Anyway baby's had a quiet day today so just eaten a load of choc cake and sweets after lunch to make it jump around a bit b4 school pick up!

MrsMigginslovespies · 27/06/2012 15:00

DDog definitely on the mend, as she's just chewed up my brand new tube of expensive lansinoh nipple cream I'd literally taken delivery of 10 minutes earlier. Luckily, it's been retrievable and is now scooped out into another little pot, but she's such a bad girl even though I do still adore her really and hated seeing her in pain. Also in delivery was a tube of lovely Burt's baby bees calming lavendar lotion, a top and tail bowl, and some beautiful lansinoh nipple pads. So exciting, really not much to buy now, and feel that because I've got things bit by bit, it hasn't felt too expensive at times. Just got to order furniture from IKEA and organise delivery. Then put it up.

Breastfeeding meeting was nice actually. Met some nice local people for once and had some cake. Hurrah. Looks like it'll be a good thing to pop along to once a week if I manage to breastfeed properly.

Have had no feedback yet from Mum about the lunch. Am waiting on tenterhooks! x

pintofmilk · 27/06/2012 15:01

Hi all, not posted for ages it seems. Had a nightmare last couple of weeks.

Our DDog had to be put down last week, she had cancer and knew she had had enough when she stopped eating for a few days and wouldn't go outside. Sad

Fell out with my mum and now not spoken for 3 weeks, she does not agree with my idea of homebirth, thinks I'm being ridiculous and told me I cannot have one!! What am I 10 years old still?? MW seems to think HB would be ok as I am 'low risk' and this is number 3, so I might not make it to the hospital if this one is a quick as number 2-about 3 hours!

Grrrr

pintofmilk · 27/06/2012 15:07

On a lighter note, all your posts have kept me going, especially about the wax/shaving dilemmas!

I have to say I am for the waxing team, I have had my legs waxed for a long as I can remember. Then the Salon I go to went from 'brazillians' to..........'PLAYBOYS'. They needed volunteers to 'practice' on and I agreed. So basically EVERYTHING comes off, front and back. Feels very odd to start off with, but now I don't give it a second thought and have them all the time.

Please don't throw me out the the August club, I'm not wierd I promise.

Lovemarmite · 27/06/2012 15:28

ooo pint - sending you a big bunch of Thanks! Sorry to hear about your Ddog, I'm still boo'ing about our little DCat that we had to say goodbye to after cancer and that was 5 weeks ago x Maybe we were just so soppy over him!

and pants to your mother!
Tbh, my mother is obviously finding me very difficult as she doesn't phone me at all and when we do speak, she asks me how I'm doing and then really doesn't want to know. I think she's more interested in how LO is than me, as my aches etc are something that you should put up with and not speak about Hmm. I've also become much more argumentative and won't be putting up with any of the comments she likes to dole out, she doesn't like this either [either]. I am sure things will be different once LO is here but at the moment, the peace is lovely! Naughty naughty marmite!

And on that other note, all off, wow you're either brave or just crazy mad!

Westcountrylovescheese · 27/06/2012 16:55

Aw pintof, sorry to hear about DDog, so sad. Sad

...you can't be thrown out of the August club for your playboy as I may have to follow. Clippers, no 1, all over. No need to even think about strays Wink

frillylemons · 27/06/2012 16:58

Oh Pint I'm so sorry to hear about DDog Sad How upsetting. I'm with you on he Playboy though Smile However it's been too painful since being PG Sad

ishopthereforeiam · 27/06/2012 17:14

mrsm - the advice and discussions sound v annoying. Your curtains your way!

ham - think I will take some piriton tonite before bed Grin

pint sorry about your mum and your dog. At the end of the day it's your birth so you have to do what's right for you and your baby! Can't believe she's stopped talking to you because of that. Just be prepared as when the baby comes it may be that she has an opinion on how you should do everything...! Start considering your coping mechanisms now Wine. Ps is the playboys the same as the hollywood - not a thing left?

Sorry if TMI but so fed up of being pg now. Saw my nips in the mirror and they look like fricking flying saucers! Is the point of the colour and size change so dstobe can find them when he can barely see when he is born!? arghhhhhh

OP posts:
panpipe · 27/06/2012 18:32

Sorry to hear about your dog pint Sad

I haven't ever ventured past the Brazilian stage but my woman is quite, ahem, enthusiastic with the wax so there isn't much left!

Also boo to your mum and home birth plan. Mine is equally against it and even though I've told her in no uncertain terms that I'm doing it and explained the reasons why she still thinks it's a bad idea. In fact I'd probably go so far as to say both she and MIL might say a secret I told you so if I do end up in hospital. Are you planning to have a water birth at home? I got a second hand pool this weekend so just need a new liner.

My maternity cover started at work today and bloody hell is handover hard work! It's tiring to talk all day trying to cover everything you do when it's come so naturally to you up until that point!

MrsMigginslovespies · 27/06/2012 18:44

Pint so sad to hear about your doggy. I adore my naughty one so am sending you lots of doggy wishes from her and me.

Ishop, yes that's exactly the ahem, point of them being that big. Like a missile target...!

Utterly uninspired by supper plans tonight. Might be a sarnie again. DH off to the beach with 40 kids so another dull night by myself. Feel like a school widow at the mo. My cold is crap so early night again with book and hot Ribena methinks. The glamour. But the wax chat cheers me up no end Grin xx

susiegrapevine · 27/06/2012 18:50

Hey everyone pint sorry to hear about ddog and your mum not being supportive of your hb. My mum is very supportive of mine as she really wanted one with her third but my dad would not let her due to mine and my sisters births not being straight forward. I was back to back and did not turn so had to be forceps delivery, my sister got the cord wraped round her neck and over her head and got distressed and pooed so my dad was like no! Her 3rd was relitivley fine tho althought my youngest sis still got the cord wrapped round her neck she still prob could of had her at home. Can't wait for my hb! So exciting!!

Ds had 2nd trial at nursery and would not let go of my hand when we got there!! Had to leave with him crying and me trying to smile, had not felt bad until then! Apparently he stopped after 2 mins so was all for my benefit! Didn't even notice me at 1st when I came back!!

ham am one of those crazy people who can take piriton and not get drowsey!

Am feeling very tired today as woke at 4 this morn and started to think of all the things that need doing before baby arrives! Ahhh suddenly it seems so close when I thought I had loads of time!! Especially as ds came at 38 weeks so am thinking I need to be ready by then!

Vinolover · 27/06/2012 19:23

Pint I'm so sorry about your Ddog :( Thanks

Frilly I used to have a brazillion but thank God I never had to get in that postion! I would have been horrified lol. I remember my bum used to stick together afterwards though Wink. I do it with a razor now but I hate being stubbly a couple of days later and not being able to do anything about it because of getting rashes etc.

I am so fed up today! My tummy is still feeling upset with nasty pains etc and I now have so much pressure in my bottom and between my legs :( I was beside myself watching ds sports day because the pains were shooting down my legs. Hopefully I will get a good nights sleep tonight and will wake up feeling better tomorrow morning!

hamncheese · 27/06/2012 19:50

Aw pint sorry to hear the bad news :( and your mum should butt out and support whatever decision you make for the birth. If it helps research proves that it is actually safer to have a home birth... so she has no reason to argue that you are doing anything but the best for your baby.

Really keen to see how all your homebirths go as I think if I'd been more informed earlier I would have gone for one. Now I'd stress as it's a bit late to change plans but will be really really keen next time, especially if I find the pool useful this time round :)

Hope you do feel better tomorrow vino. I always feel I have a few days with very few aches and then a day of complete discomfort and horrible pains. It's not consistent :(

Remember and only take one tablet for piriton ishop ... unlike paracetamol the full dose is just the one! My DH took 2 on his sisters wedding day and said he can't remember half of it and was eating a roll and couldn't actually feel it in his hand haha!

33+4 (not put that up for a while) only 6 weeks and 3 days to go!!!!
