How exciting blondie!!! Fingers crossed this is it for you this time about bloody time

Poor McKayz, I hope the end is in sight for you too, I hate that you are feeling so awful Sad. Have a totally useless but well-meant hug from me.

Congratulations rhihaf!

gwenniebee · 13/06/2012 22:33

Good luck blondie and congratulations rhihaf! :) :)

ffnorm like the others I am both Shock and delighted by the drama of your story! You sound amazingly upbeat about it... think I'd still be shaking!

Have been discussing with DH when LO is and is not allowed to arrive this evening.... eeek! Basically there are about three acceptable days between now and the due date... although I have said that we will be laughing on the other sides of our faces when I'm being induced on something like 11th July....

PinkPanther27 · 13/06/2012 22:38

Hello all, thought I'd check in incase you thought I'd gone quite cos baby's arrived (no such luck).

ffnorm your story sounds exciting and bl**dy scary at the same time. Can't believe you managed to stay so calm at 10cm dilated! Hope you're all settled now.
Dairy your induction is booked for the same date as me! Guess your area has the same policy - induction at 42 weeks, no earlier. Hope something happens before then for you.

Blondie I really hope this is it for you, I think you've been through enough already Wine Hope that she makes an appearance and that it is a speedy labour for you.
Well induction is next Weds when I will be exactly 42 weeks according to scan date but I rang and spoke to midwife today as I have been worrying baout it being so late as I know my due date is wrong. I intially had a due date of 1st June until I had the scan. If I go by their due date of 6th June that would mean that the baby was conceived the week I was on holiday with my ds (and without my dh!!!!!) I tried to tactfully explain this to the midwife today and she rang to see if I could be induced a few days earlier but they are fully booked, have to check again at the weekend.

I have now tried several natural induction methods and bought some clary sage (that wasnt out of date) and used it in my bath tonight - nothing so far so last time when I went from 0-back to back contractions within half an hour must have just been a coincidence I guess. I have also just eaten half a giant pineapple (I love pineapple so have been craving this a lot this pregnancy).

I've opted not to have a sweep so far - has anyone not had a painful one? I'm starting to wonder if I should have asked for one but worried about the GBS (had a positive test result) and the pain.

Who asked about sore nipples? Try cold savoy cabbage leaves on them and lansinoh

PinkPanther27 · 13/06/2012 22:44

Oooop sorry I forgot you Rhihaf massive congratulations

McKayz · 13/06/2012 22:56

I've just covered bump in baby oil mixed with clary sage. Nothing at all so far but at least I'll have soft skin!!

DairyNips · 13/06/2012 23:09

Massive congratulations rhihafGrin was it you asking about sore nips? I agree with the others, Lansinoh cream (about £10 a tube but totally worth it and lasts ages). If you're quite sore now it's be a good idea to maybe contact your local bfing drop in/lactation consultant for son rl one to one help. You don't want to do what I did and leave it till you're so sore you can't stand the next feed. It is common to get sore in the first few weeks but it can quite often be helped with a few latch adjustmentsSmile

pink ooh induction buddies, unless they give you an earlier date that is. Typical,
They were trying to induce me earlier than I wanted with ds1 and I fought against it and now I want to be induced earlier they won't!

DairyNips · 13/06/2012 23:11

McKayz Hope it works!

Might do that myself shortly, think I'm gonna attempt getting my dh to help me out too, really feel to uncomfortable and whale like but I have to try something!

rhibutterfly · 14/06/2012 00:21

congratulations to ffnorm very dramatic, what a story to tell LO when older xxx
congratulationsrhihaf glad your LO here and your recovering well
Any news off blondie

blondiedollface · 14/06/2012 01:29

Back home, but finally my body has got the right idea, I'm contracting although not quite regularly and am now 2cm dilated! Unfortunately I have +++ blood, +++ protein, + nitrates and ++ leucocytes in my urine so have been massively dosed up on antibiotics tonight.. And will need a super strong course after baby has arrived :(

They have decided to let me come home and see how things go (all the usual conditions apply) but I'm to go back in at 930am, and if nothing much has happened they will be inducing me!!

Although I'm seriously uncomfortable it's such a relief that something is actually happening - DH and I agreed tonight that we were starting to think pregnancy was some 'forever' state I seem to have been in...

So I am going to try and get my last (good?) night's sleep before I become a mummy and hope to have news for you all tomorrow one way or the other!!

I hope you all have a good night's sleep Xx

rachyroodle · 14/06/2012 05:38

rhihaf massive congratulations.

ffnorm love the birth story. Sounds like you coped amazingly!

blondie good luck!

Shelduck and dairy hope the sweeps have worked their magic and you have lovely babies soon and if not it sounds like you are both all booked in so you know it won't be long now.

Well in the end decided not to have the sweep yesterday as midwife thought I would prob not be ready for it anyway. She is going to do it at due date + 8 days if LO still not here.

Bit of a long night as I think I have started to have something like contractions. I was timing them and they were every 7-8 minutes but now seem to have slowed right down. Not so much that I can go to bed for a nap though! Haven't lost mucus plug and was only 2/5 engaged yesterday when I saw the midwife so have a horrible feeling this is only my body practicing. Especially as they are not hurting as much as I expected them too - not really feeling it in my back. Going to send the hubby off to work as normal this morning when he wakes up. He is only 15 mins away in case of an emergency!

CathFin · 14/06/2012 06:49

Blondie - good luck for today! Hope you are feeling okay with all the meds too!

Really hoping I don't have to wait until 42 weeks for something to happen, walking is so painful now and I have stuff to be getting on with.

DairyNips · 14/06/2012 06:54

Morning allSmile

rachy sounds like you're having similar contractions to me. I've had some through the night but very space out, had a run of 5 that were 7 mins apart this morning but they've tailed off a bit now. Bored of this now, dh off to work as usual but only 5 mins away.

PinkPanther27 · 14/06/2012 07:52

Glad to hear things are happening for you Blondie Any more contractions Rach Dairy?
I'm on my own with my gorgeous ds today and no childcare aaaarrrrggggh! If anything happens then I will have to ring his nursery and see if they have a space

Coops79 · 14/06/2012 07:52

Morning All - a query.... Now I've stopped work everything feels different which probably isn't surprising as I'm less active than I was a few days ago. The query is about LO movements. Monday and Tuesday it felt like he was very active but I was also having very strong Braxton Hicks which may have mad his movements feel more intense IYSWIM. Now I'm having much reduced Braxtons and although I'm still feeling quite a bit of movement, it is less intense than it was. Is this ok do we think? I've not been "counting kicks" but at this point I'm presuming that less activity is understandable. Could someone reassure me please?

My back has been killing me for the past couple of days and (TMI alert!) I appear to have had a bit of a, ahem, clear-out this morning. But BHs are reduced, no show or waters breaking. Do we think I'm (slowly) on my way? I'm six days from my due date.

Have a lovely day everyone. x

10000fireflies · 14/06/2012 08:25

coops best talk to your MW or hosp, if any doubts at all. I was advised same by cons on tues.

Congrats to all new Mummies and Babies - rhihaf and Kveta*

Mckayz sorry to hear you are feeling so crap. Has MW got a plan to help?

Saw cons tues - am 1cm dilated and approved for water birth. So, come on baby!!!

Hi to all. On iPad and typing extremely tedious, so just a quickie from me. Have a great day. FF xx

DairyNips · 14/06/2012 08:33

coops I agree with FF always best to get checked out if you are concerned. I did feel I had reduced movements for a few days but once I actually started counting them I realised i'd just been too busy to notice and he was moving more than I thought. I was on the brink of getting checked out for it though.

gwenniebee · 14/06/2012 08:41

coops I agree about getting checked out, but also my LO goes through phases, sometimes really active (and a bit of a pain in the backside, and other places, tbh) and then sometimes really quiet and I worry and poke it and DH says the poor child can't win. Which is true :) I would have thought as long as you are still feeling some movement everything is fine. But worth getting checked out to put your mind at rest.

Blondie ooooooooh :) good luck! I really really hope it goes well! You deserve it to be a dream after your last few weeks!

McK shelduck dairy ff and all hope things are going the way you want them to!

SpecialJK · 14/06/2012 09:14

10000ff well jell of your water birth [jealous]

SpecialJK · 14/06/2012 09:15

That should be Envy!

McKayz · 14/06/2012 09:22

Am I allowed to beg for a sweep yet? 39 weeks today and I feel like my legs are about to fall off.

I did tell DH I was going to the labour ward to beg to be inducedGrin

Blondie hope all is going well!!

Coops I'd get checked over to be on the safe side.

Hope you're all well.

10000fireflies · 14/06/2012 10:49

Don't worry, special - is not guaranteed to have water birth. But it's nice to know there's a vague possibility. There are 5000 births a year at my hosp and only 2 pools, plus the usual caveats... Plus if I end up getting to drip induction then it's a no too.

As I have refused induction on Sat, start monitoring every other day from tomorrow and will prob start induction Weds. DH disappointed as he thought LO was going to make an appearance in the night.

Blondie fingers crossed all is going well.

FFnorm wow to your birth story!! Congrats on getting through it all ok.

Mckayz you really ought to be allowed anything you want in reason if you're in that much pain. What does MW say?

I am wiped out. Trying to get place into some semblance of order.. Keeping having to have lie-downs though!!

CathFin · 14/06/2012 11:09

fireflies - there is only one pool at my hosp - my idea birth would be like my first with DD, arriving at hospital 8cm dilated then getting in the pool, however not then having meconium in my waters....
DD keeps saying 'Mummy I had a poo in your tummy, didn't I?' which is starting to gross me out a bit!

Held my neighbours 5 day old this morning - so diddy! Very jealous she is already out and about and NOT PREGNANT anymore!

surfmama · 14/06/2012 11:38

ooh cath out and about. yes I am dreaming of walking without stopping in pain every 5 minutes! i am soooo miserable everyone and everything is pissing me off. I am even cross with the olds getting in my way in the village - eeek. reflexology tomorrow that may calm me down. blondie thinking of you...

blondiedollface · 14/06/2012 12:02

I must say, it's all been pretty smooth sailing until the last hour. Got to 5cm with just paracetamol, then my uterus decided to up the ante...

This entonox is bang on even if I do feel like a bit of a druggie :)

McKayz · 14/06/2012 12:30

Ahhh Entonox. I love that stuff. Hope you're ok.

MW wouldn't sweep as they aren't allowed before 40 weeks and 1 day!! But she said she would do it next Thursday. But I will be induced on 2nd July. I can't believe they can't do a sweep but can plan inductions.

But all is well. Baby is head down but not engaged.
