Yay, - written my birth plan at last.

Hope the midwives aren't too shocked as there are some controversial things in it. Nothing about sheep or rainbows or anything, more along the lines of don't touch me ever and it's MY placenta so don't remove it until I've had a good look, kinda thing..... Grin

SeriouslyStrongCheddar · 29/05/2012 08:20

Morning all.

Well, much to do today - must wash baby clothes, probably go buy pram and car seat etc just in case I'm the 0.5% that requires a c section when I have my ECV tomorrow! Should also get that cot built at some point!

The day is off to a cracking start - by 7.45am...

Cat No1 pulls over vase of roses (he likes to eat the leaves).

I (bare foot) stand on the thorns of the rose he's extracted to eat while trying to evict him from the lounge so I can clear up.

Cat No2 trys to 'help' as mop the soaking carpet with a towle and then sticks his claws in a number of tender areas while I try to evict him.

Cat No3 throws up in the dining room.

Happy days!

Kveta · 29/05/2012 08:42

just hope the thorns and claws were hitting accupressure pointss Seriously :o

we actually got some sleep here last night! DS was up at 3.30 and 4.30, and normally wouldn't go back to sleep, but somehow got him to go back down at about 5.30 until 7.30! so feeling quite refreshed for a change!! It took me forever to get to sleep though last night, heartburn was making me sick, lovely...

39 weeks today though, so only 2 weeks max more of this! woohoo! 1st new stretch marks appeared this morning though, sigh. Off to the hospital today for DS as he has an ENT appt, so luckily DH has taken the morning off to drive and toddler wrangle, as I think driving there and back, and looking after a manic toddler in a busy waiting room (in usual hospital high temperatures) would probably finish me off!

hope everyone has a lovely day today!

Morning ladiesSmile

kvtea glad you got some sleep.

Seriously the cats are really putting you through your paces this morning, hope they behave now!

Um. Ok I can't remember who said what now..

I have had a hair dying disaster. I thought I'd dye my hair back to my usual colour before the baby arrives. I had dyed it red for Xmas then when that faded dyed it hazelnut brown to even it out. I had left it a while and had about an inch of roots. I bought my usual 'lightest blonde' and dyed it last night. So... The roots are light blonde, the rest is honey monster colour Shock! I am now ringing hairdressers to see if I can afford to get it fixed (dh said I could get it dyed properly for my birthday present, was having trouble thinking of anything I wanted anyway).. If its gonna be mega expensive though I'll just have to go back to brown I thinkSad I just thought it'd be nice to have nice hair as everyone seems to take pics when you have the new baby and I didn't want shit hair.. It's even worse than before nowAngry I'm not the sort of person who cares deeply about their appearance but I draw the line at ridiculous honey monster hair!!

ceeej · 29/05/2012 12:26

Eurgh, totally got out of the wrong side of bed this morning, was being really snappy at poor DH because the iron started spitting brown stuff at him when he tried to help out. Now I can't face doing anything so I think I'm going to veg in front of the TV for a bit and hope the hormonal rage calms down.

Had a fantastic day yesterday visiting a friend whose baby was born last week. I've never met a baby that young before and she was just so adorable and soft and cuddly, am even more excited to meet my LO now.

Blondie and McKayz hope you are both having a better start to the day today.

Starlight my midwife thought it was v amusing that I want to inspect the placenta, I have a tendency to assume everyone is as inquisitive as me but apparently that's not the case!

SSC your cat incident sounds rather painful, hope they behave a bit better when the LO arrives!

Great that you finally got some sleep kveta and hope your DS's hospital visit isn't too hot or stressful.

Oh dear Dairy honey monster doesn't sound like the best look! Fingers crossed you can find someone to fix it for you so you look fab ready for post baby pictures.

AmethystMoon · 29/05/2012 12:52

Hello everyone Smile
My memory is fading fast, I've read all the posts but can recall zilch!
I hope everyone suffering from the heat and various sore bits gets some relief soon. dairy uh oh..... Good luck with sorting your hair. Please be careful using more dye I have seen some horrendous results when friends have layered too many, hope you can get a salon to do it for you. I don't often dye mine but have a few white ones at the front so am treating myself in a couple of weeks to a proper hairdresser dye job so that LO doesn't think she has an ancient mummy when she first sees me Grin I've got really long hair and have never managed to due it evenly myself Sad
Right back to work, 2.5 days left to go!
Have a great afternoon everyone xx

thedogwalker · 29/05/2012 13:28

Hello all
Starlight is there any reason why you want to see the placenta first, can you recognise a healthy or unhealthy one. Just wondering the reason for such a specific request?
SSC ouch to the thorns, hope your cheeky cats are now behaving.

Dairy you've got to post a photo of you with honey monster hair, I've just got to see it Grin
I'm currently out shopping getting DS1 new swivel car seat so LO can use the isofix stuff when he's born. That's the rear seats all used up, no room for passengers. Hope everyone is having a good day.

DairyNips · 29/05/2012 13:30

Lol tdw no photos shall be published!! In all honesty I tried to take a photo for my best friend (to laugh atHmm) and it doesn't show up on camera, looks pretty normal, if only!

ffnorm · 29/05/2012 13:49

SSC your cats sound like you are well prepared to give birth to triplet toddlers Grin Is your foot ok?

Dairy sorry to hear about your hair - hopefully you can get it sorted without too much expense, ironically one of the items on my list for today is hair dye...

Kveta hope the ENT app goes well!!!

It is my 36th birthday today,so I am officially closer to 40 than 30 Shock when did this happen???

It doesn't feel like lo has turned but as I was typing,I felt a hefty kick, under my ribs!!! Oh,please let her have turned. I have a MW app friday but they have been very unsure of the position,so will have to wait,to know for sure, until my scan on 6th.

Smallwonder · 29/05/2012 15:04

ffnorm hope you're enjoying your day Grin

Hope to catch up later -- I'm in bed again, the period type cramps are on and off all day and I feel so tired. I imagine body is doing what it needs to but had forgotten it gets like this. I shan't complain as there's not long to go but will hopefully get some rest, swollen feet included.

Wishing everyone well x

StarlightMcKenzie · 29/05/2012 15:54

Hi all,

Ooooh, Happy Birthday fform. Hope you have something nice planned!

Small I am choosing to believe that cramps and BH mean that labour will be fast and efficient with my starting point several cm dilated.

Dairy, sorry but I had to laugh at your honey monster description. I bet it's not as bad as you think.

tdw I know a bit about placentas due to google and seeing it last birth. My first birth wasn't very nice and it all happened so quickly at the end with thinks being whisked in and away before I could compose myself. The placenta was delivered an removed and I never saw it and tbh it made me feel a bit violated.

My last birth plan stated that I wanted the inspection of it to be done in my presence with a running commentary. Tbh at the Tim it was quite possibly the last thing I wanted but you only get that one chance really, and I'm glad I did as it was fascinating seeing the valves and stems etc. and the SIZE of it Shock

Kveta · 29/05/2012 16:18

Dairy poor you! I never dye my hair, I just know I'd mess it up, I am a total disaster area :o my mum does home dye her hair and has achieved some interesting hues over the years!!

starlight I wanted to see the placenta last time too, it's fascinating to me. I was trying to donate it to someone at work who does research on placental malaria, but he didn't want it from someone he knows :o

happy birthday ffnorm :)

small hope you get some rest!

hospital was outrageously hot as usual. DS apparently has pretty bad glue ear, so we were given 3 options - do nothing, low dose antibiotics for 6 weeks, or insertion of grommets. have gone for option 2, which means 6 weeks of bribery to get him to take them!! then back for hearing tests and more investigations. poor wee boy! i know it's only a minor thing, but he's still my baby :o

I am so crampy today too, wish it signified something. Just hate feeling this uncomfortable for nothing.

OP posts:
ceeej · 29/05/2012 16:29

ooh happy birthday ffnorm Thanks hope you're having a lovely day

blondiedollface · 29/05/2012 17:25

Happy Birthday ffnorm have a lovely day :)

Small I feel for you with the crampy pains, normally I'd say hot bath/water bottle but I have found something ingenious in this weather... Fill your water bottle half full and then freeze it!! It has worked wonders for me in this heat Grin

Hope everyone else is doing well! Enjoy the sunshine Xx

rhihaf · 29/05/2012 17:48

Happy Bday ffnorm!

Waves at everybody else :)

Kveta - hope DS gets better soon, poor thing :( have a Brew

Am rapidly getting to the stage where I can only sleep during the day, sitting upright (in the car usually Blush) - can anyone else get any sleep in bed?

Dairy - I have been planning on tidying myself up in preparation for hospital too... my feet are just so swollen I don't bother with shoes, so getting DH to perform a pedicure on my filthy trotters is just wishful thinking at the moment Blush

General question - how do people shave their legs/maintain their undercarriage area at this stage of pregnancy?

Hope everyone's ok and enjoying the weather [sceptical face]...

We're nearly in June, YEY!!!!

StarlightMcKenzie · 29/05/2012 17:54

I do it by feeling and denial quite frankly.

I'm on my 3rd now though and know midwives don't give a shit and besides, if I get the birth I want it will all be underwater in a dimly lit room anyway, and murky water most likely Grin

gwenniebee · 29/05/2012 18:31

Afternoon everyone :)

Ow ow to the thorns! And the cat pins! Sounds like a Simon's Cat type episode....

Starlight I hadn't really thought about placental issues, but I will now! I'd certainly want at least to see it, even if not to poke about with it.

Kveta I remember being packed off to school with horrible yellow medicine and a packet of refreshers.... I also remember not being able to go to school one day because I spat the foul yellow stuff out all down my pinafore! Hehehe.

Dairy uh-oh! Hope you can get it fixed. I tried to do highlights once and ended up looking like a leopard.

Rhi funny you should mention it! We were discussing this in the staff room... as you do.... with male colleagues around... I wasn't at all embarassed to be asked.... Blush I usually wax my legs and sort of do whatever I can to the other bits that doesn't cause irritation... very sensitive skin and frankly anything other than letting it grow to frankly hippyish lengths causes painful stubble rash!!! So I enlisted DH's help with waxing my legs about ten days ago and tried to have a surreptitious rustle around the other areas with a razor!

So if anyone has any other suggestions, I'd love to hear them!

Three days left for me and I am mainly managing to hand over to evil new woman and sort out my reports/grades/SATs marking while she teaches my little class. Yay.

CathFin · 29/05/2012 21:12

I have put that I would like to see the placenta this time - wasn't that bothered before but its my last chance. With DD all I remember is the midwife coming in with a dish to take it away in and having to go and get something much larger to put it in as it was apparently quite big!

I waxed my legs the other day, seem to be flexible enough to manage below the knee and paint toe nails, and I risked a razor around the worst of my bikini line but I have no idea whether I did a decent job!

Happy birthday Ffnorm!

thedogwalker · 29/05/2012 21:14

Evening all
Happy Birthday FFnorm, hope you've had a wonderful day.
Starlight, wow never thought to take a look at the placenta, certainly makes you think abit, thanks for your insight.
Kveta Poor DS, fingers x the antibiotics work for him. What are you bribing him with Hmm
Rhihaf I went and got my legs and bikini line waxed last week. The legs were ok, but I had never had bikini line done before and only considered it as I can't see down there. OMG, the pain was worse than labour, Blush but if you've done it before it might not be so bad.

I'm suffering contractions just on the top of my bump, different to BH, but not too pleasant. I had them last night and they wore off eventually so hoping they wear off again soon or turn into the real thing, I dislike all these warm up contraction stuff, I'm eager to get to the end game. 12 days til due date and I'm hoping LO comes before that.
Hope everyone has had a good day, take care xx

rhibutterfly · 29/05/2012 21:34

I lie down and bend my knee in as close to my body as i can to shave my legs and as for my other 'bits' i use a mirror to see where to go ha ha

rhibutterfly · 29/05/2012 21:35

happy birthday ffnorm

DairyNips · 29/05/2012 21:47

Happy Birthday ffnorm!Smile

Hmm tending to lady bits. I trimmed mine in the shower by feel alone then shaved the bikini line, again without being able to see. Dh assures me it's presentable Grin I might redo the bikini line again soon with a mirror.. Possibly use hair removal cream if I can be bothered.

Got news about my mil today. It's cancer, she has to have chemo for between 6 and 18 monthsSad

10000fireflies · 29/05/2012 22:01

Happy Birthday ffnorm

Loving the topiary discussion! Have a similar approach to rhi - sit on towel, in front of mirror and use instrument of torture ladyshave. I bet the MWs don't give a monkey's though and neither will we when we're mid labour. I'm sure they see plenty of untended fanjos too.

V grumpy today, but there you go. I won't bore you with the details but v pissed off with DH. Oh, and LO keeps sticking its feet under my ribs. Still, at least I still have an innie. Grin

Dairy so sorry to hear about your MIL. I hope she gets the best possible treatment and is on the road to recovery soon.

AmethystMoon · 29/05/2012 22:20

Just wanted to say I am so sorry to hear about your MIL dairy Sad, such sad news. My thoughts are with your family, hopefully the chemo will help her to best it. Big hugs

AmethystMoon · 29/05/2012 22:20

Sorry I meant beat it obviously
