Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
gwenniebee · 07/06/2012 09:20

Hello all...

I am back from the land of intermittent internet (oooh... sounds like a really rubbish good series of children's books, must add "become famous children's writer" to list of things to do before baby arrives....). Anyway, lots going on and I have read all with chuckles and sighs of frustration for various people as appropriate.

blondie shall be thinking of you at (3pm was it?) your midwife appt and hoping that the ass-kick of a pregnant woman is particularly punishing! Don't think I responded to your story of your last appointment but I was properly Shock by some of her comments! Ignorant "wotsit".

SSC eeee hope all going well :)

Small think I have said on fb but shall say on here, too, massive congratulations :) Thanks

kveta I am very pleased for you with your kitchenaid... and amazed at your patience with FIL. If my MIL came to stay now I think it would be safe to say MIL-tricide would be committed, and then the wonderful word MIL-tricide would have to be created just for me. It's bad enough that she phones. At 10pm. And talks for an hour. Yep, you see? My patience does not rival yours!

Hope things are moving along nicely for people - I had my first real "eek" moment two nights ago - DH and I went for a late night stroll up the high street at M&D's as it had finally stopped raining, and it seemed to provoke a new kind of cramp, ouchy enough to cause tears, and I did have a slight panic that everything could be kicking off while we were miles from home and hadn't even packed hosp bag! Suffice to say nothing has developed from it so think it was probably just first timer misconceptions. Having spent months having "a hunch" this LO will be early (because about ten days early would be really, really bad timing for both my mum and DH) I will probably be laughing ruefully when I'm being induced around 10th July...

Coops79 · 07/06/2012 09:43

AmeythstMoon thank you but don't be too impressed, I'm on half-term right now so this doesn't really count. Going into school tomorrow to sort everything out and I think I'm going to do Monday and see how I feel (probably going to stop there tbh).

Kveta I know you're right but there's a bloodyminded streak that's keeping me going that and my DH whispering "think of the money" in my ear on a nightly basis.

Should really do something constructive today - I'm off to clean the oven. :(

gwenniebee · 07/06/2012 10:00

coops I would stop right there! I thought I was crazy going on til last Friday (and I'm not due til 29th) but I really couldn't have kept going a moment longer when it came to it. Somehow I found seven and eight year olds didn't understand that sometimes I just wanted to sit and look at them doing page 57, and not answer any of their questions or help them, or look under tables for their games socks... funny, that.

Having stopped I have also been shocked by how totally knackered I am and am very grateful that I have some time to sort my body and my brain out before baby arrives......

Happy oven cleaning :) I also should do something constructive. This may start with having a shower Hmm

McKayz · 07/06/2012 10:02

MW appt was ok. No induction tho. She said they probably won't consider it until 40+10 and I will have died by then!!

Student MW still gets on my nerves. I know she's training and everything but today she decided baby was breech!!! Asked usual MW about a CS but she said she would check first. She says baby is still head down.

Then proceeded to tell me that I need to keep an eye on babys movements and if I get any swelling or headaches I need to ring the hospital. It's probably just my moods and hormones but she seems so bloody patronising.

thedogwalker · 07/06/2012 10:33

Hi all
FFnorm, Sending you more turning vibes, the more the better for LO.
Coops, whisper in to your DH's ear "What about my sanity and well being", I think he is being very mean mentioning money like a bribe. I would be seriously miffed wth my DH.
McKayz Wow MW appointment at 9 am, you are brave, I would never be ready in time. Ignore the student MWs comments, hope you can now relax for the rest of the day.
SSC, thinking of you and hope things runs smoother today. Hope you can update us all as soon you're able, as we are all nosey interested, want to oh and ahh over the photos Grin
Mama Hope things are progressing for you.
Special where are you, not heard from you for a while. Hope you're ok.

No positive news here. Long night of contractions, down to 7 mins apart, lots of pacing about and bouncing to keep the pain in check and then all stop. My LO is playing games. I'm shattered today, so don't want to do anything.

Hope everyone is feeling better than me. Take care xx

CathFin · 07/06/2012 10:35

McKayz - my DD was 40+10, you will get there although it seems like forever right now!

rrrayray · 07/06/2012 10:37

Dog walker - sorry to hear so tired but pleased contractions haven't died off. Yay.

Have just had a pretty big (TMI warning) brown sludgy show, and done the third poo clear out of the morning. So sweep has obviously shunted me in the right direction.

Off to drop DD at my sisters for an hour so I can pop to Toys r us and buy a present for her from the baby. Maybe that'll be the green light he needs to get out :-)

McKayz · 07/06/2012 11:03

I am finally home!! I went and got cake!! Its farmer market day so I bought a big coffee cake.

Baby is no longer engaged but I know that is normal for a 3rd pregnancy.

I feel bad for moaning about the student MW but I've seen her twice now and both times she has put me into a huge panic.

Coops79 · 07/06/2012 11:19

dogwalker nah he's lovely really; wouldn't make me continue if I wasn't up for it. I'm as bad as him so he's only being encouraging really. Wink Hope you manage to get some rest before things start really moving.

gwenniebee you're probably right; I'm more tired now it's half term than I was working but I think that's partly to do with being allowed to relax finally. I haven't really got my head round the fact that I won't be back for a whole year. I think that's why I'm leaving it until the last possible minute. Also I'm convinced that everything will fall apart without me (or, even worse, it won't and I'll be proved to be completely dispensable).

McKayz one of my midwives seems determined to scare the crap out of me too. Try to let it wash over you; hope all went well today.

I have now washed up and have sprayed Mr Muscle all over the oven. I realise this does not constitute cleaning the oven just yet. I'll get there....

ffnorm · 07/06/2012 11:51

McK sounds like the student needs to do a placement elsewhere and improve her bedside manner... very Envy about your coffee cake.

Coops the fact that you contemplated cleaning the oven at this point in pregnancy is impressive,it's probably my most dreaded household chore when not pregnant...

Rray that sounds very promising Smile

TDW how frustrating, thought no 2 was supposed to be more straight forward, not all this stop start nonsense Hmm

Gwennie loving the term MIL tricide Grin Grin

Waiting impatiently for news from SSC and Mama Wink

As non of you want to tell me what a kitchenaid is,I'm off to google it which I meant to do earlier but have the short term memory of a gnat

McKayz · 07/06/2012 12:08

Oh Ffnorm a Kitchenaid is the most wonderful thing in the world. Its a big gorgeous fancy food mixer. It comes in beautiful colours too.

I also like the kenwood chefs. They do the K-Mix ones which are stripey.

I am having cramps in my back, I doubt anything is happening though.

DairyNips · 07/06/2012 13:15

Seen midwife, baby has turned back to back as I suspectedAngry The other two did exactly the same at the last minute. Not fair! I will have to spend all my time leaning forwards and crawling around now to try and turn him. I managed to turn ds2 that way so I hope it works. Not what I fancy doing at all! I equally don't fancy another back to back labour though, I preferred the non back to back labour, less back pain.. Midwife said bump seems lower as I'm measuring no bigger than last time so that's a good sign.

surfmama · 07/06/2012 15:55

hi all was so pleased to hear you were okay yesterday kveta I can't imagine how i would have felt, my bp would have been through the roof.

mkayz today i know there is something wrong with me, i don't want any of your cake... so am a little worried

is it normal to feel sick with achey bump? tmi but i did do an enourmous poo this morning so wonder if it has somehow left me feeling saw and tender, has anyone else experience this?!!! sorry! ....

blondiedollface · 07/06/2012 15:55

Ass kicked! Grin Goodness me, my 'little old lady' Grandma is nothing of the sort... Retired prison officer back in action!! And all without more than whispering, completely in those steely eyes totally in awe

My usual MW apologised profusely and I am now under her sole care, meaning I can only see her when she's in, which means I'll be getting a sweep (if LO hasn't arrived) at 39+5 :) Fully engaged cephalic long lie, MW felt along and her bottom is one side of my body, her feet at the other, meaning her legs alone are over 30cm long!! DH and I were both over 54cm long according to our mothers and he is 6' 5" but blimey, how much is she going to weigh if she's almost 60cm long!!!

TDW Hoping LO is just giving you a rest before launching into full swing.

Mamma Excited for you, do let us know when you've got news :)

Dairy Fingers crossed LO will turn for you, get bouncing babe!! (Much better than scrubbing the kitchen floor.)

McKayz Have a nice bath and I hope your backache goes away, know how frustrating it can be without being the most painful it's definitely the most debilitating feeling I've experienced in pg so far

I have made cupcakes, please help yourself, the kettles on for a Brew now come on babies, arrive for your patient lovely mummies!!

surfmama · 07/06/2012 15:55

ooo i meant sore (i know there are teachers on this thread!)

gwenniebee · 07/06/2012 17:04

Ooh surf I was nearly there with my red pen Wink Instead I'll go for a "well corrected" in the margin :)

Blondie your post has cheered me up no end :) Hurrah for little old ladies, huh?! Yum to the cupcakes, thanks.

I have spent this afternoon not doing jobs on my to do list owing to the water which is now not only flowing at significant pace through my kitchen ceiling, but also down the walls. This means it must be coming in in more places than it was before. For good measure, I have thrown in a strop at DH because when I rang him to moan about this and check he was happy for me to go ahead and chase roofing contractors he didn't answer his phone. When I finally got through it turned out his phone "didn't ring for some reason" so I have appended a "bloody hell, I could have been in labour" grump to my "bloody hell, my house still isn't watertight" grump. I'm lovely, me.

Am now going to write an e-bluey to my lovely brother while watching the French Open, so I better un-grump pretty quick :)

SeriouslyStrongCheddar · 07/06/2012 17:17

Congratulations to Small!

Well, I'm still here. Still pregnant. Angry

Went in to hospital for 8am as advised this morning - two of us in for ELCS. By 2pm there had been three EMCS and at least 2 other crash calls of some sort that I'd heard and they hadn't even taken the first ELCS down to theatre. Was advised I was being bumped to tomorrow Sad

Felt really sorry for the staff - 15 rooms in Delivery (full, with more people they had no space for) and only 5 midwives. Utter chaos.

Was then talking to consultant who confirmed we'd need to do the heparin injection / ranitidine thing again tonight in preparation for tomorrow. I asked if it would be 2 hep injections like yesterday and it turns out I should only have had 1 yesterday so even if I'd have got down to theature today the anesthetist would have refused to go ahead once he saw I'd had 2 hep injections Angry

So, here I am back home. Due back at hospital for 7.30am tomorrow with the assurance that even though they don't do ELCS on a Friday, I'll be done in the morning.

Surprisingly, I'm still smiling Grin

DairyNips · 07/06/2012 17:30

Oh ssc what a waste of time for you. Hope they go ahead as planned tomorrow.

surf I deffo feel really uncomfortable if I have a big poo due. I upped my lactulose a bit lately and I seem to be going more frequently and easily..

Just waiting for police to call as my parents have been harassing me againSad much too long a story to go in to but they have been told by the police several times to stop contacting me as it is too distressing for me and they just don't give up. Don't need this stress right nowSadAngry

McKayz · 07/06/2012 17:34

Oh SSC that must be so annoying. Hopefully it all goes ahead tomorrow.

Dairy Sad you know we're all here if you need to talk. Xx

All the back pain and cramps have stopped now.

CathFin · 07/06/2012 17:39

Oh dear Dairy hope your parents back off.

ssc hope they get you in tomorrow what a waste of time!

Nice midwife today so that is three out of four who I have liked, does make me feel better about the forthcoming birth. I don't get an app until 41 weeks now! Really hope I won't be joining the overdue club!

Kveta · 07/06/2012 19:35

SSC how annoying, hope tomorrow goes well, and we have another june baby before the weekend!

gwennie you poor thing, the water situation sounds horrendous, not what you need at this stage. I am stropping at my DH too, trying to send him out for the day tomorrow, and he is resisting all my suggestions - I'm tempted to send them to Cambridge with my staff card, and tell him just to investigate all the colleges (although it may be exam season I guess, I don't work in the main uni so have no idea!!). He keeps saying 'the weather will be better on saturday, we'll go out then' and I am going 'no, you go out tomorrow, or I will throttle one of you'.

Dairy hope you're ok. did you have a good birthday in the end?

We went into town today which was miserable, but I got a large tin of biscuits and some wild strawberry plants (obvious combo) so it wasn't a total waste of time. I lost some plug overnight, but nothing since, so not getting excited. having lots of cramping, it is awful when I cough, but suspect this baby is not for being born anytime soon. I was fondling baby clothes in M+S, and crying, then cheered myself up by going to the local poncey kitchen shop and caressing various kitchenaids! I am starting to feel guilty too that FIL has come over to support us when I have baby, and he is leaving on sunday, so won't meet her now :( Admittedly not too guilty, as he is driving me nuts, but he only visits every 2 years, and we visit him every 12-18 months, so not sure when he'll meet his 1st granddaughter :(

right, DS is doing the wall of death round the lounge, may try and get him to bed then gorge myself on crappy food. :)

McKayz · 07/06/2012 20:11

I am a terrible person. I have just got into my pjs when someone knocks on the door. A very loud and important sounding knock. Its charity people trying to get me to give them £4 a week. I was not impressed and told them that I already give to the charities I want to and shut the door on them.

Its after 8pm and I am far too exhausted to even talk to them.

gwenniebee · 07/06/2012 20:20

I do not think you are a terrible person, McK! I give to charity and would not consider myself mean, but I really resent it when they make me feel guilty in my own house, and would be particularly cross if it was after 8pm and I was nine months pregnant!

When we were in Bristol, I lived just round the corner (literally, 200 yards) from Joanna Yeates and just after she was murdered I was living on my own (DH away all week working last year). You can imagine my response when I was asked to open the door to a charity bloke, in the dark, when the place was crawling with police..... his response to my refusing to take the security chain off was to say he was "sorry I felt paranoid"!

Just my little story :)

McKayz · 07/06/2012 20:26

I give to charity too and happily do so but I really don't like them knocking on my door. Now DS2 is downstairs wanting to know who was at the door.

Kveta · 07/06/2012 20:45

not terrible at all McKayz! We have a policy that we don't buy or sell at our door, and that includes charities. If we wish to donate, we will do so directly. I hate feeling cornered at my own door.
hope DS2 goes to sleep soon!

gwennie how scary, that was such a horrendous case :(
