Fingers crossed for Blondie
Kveta Hope all goes well with FIL, he might be so smitten with DS that he'll find his way out and about with him for a change leaving you to get some rest. Well, here's hoping.

I've just sent DH and DC out for some food, will not cook, I can't stand on my feet for too long, they just swell and I'm really struggling to keep anything down but ravenous at the same time. Is anyone else feeling like this?
I'm also extremely frustrated that the piles of clean washing are now turning into mountains in the conservatory and I haven't the energy after folding just some to even get them upstairs. Its trivial, DH said he'll help tomorrow afternoon and to just rest but everything is getting on top of me and I don't know why I'm feeling so agitated. There are still things to do, I want to wash the DCs bed linen and hoover, I just can't do it, I'm so tired its unbelievable and these random cramping pains are just coming and going....I think I am suffering from some kind of anxiety, what the hell will the housework matter when I'm in the hospital? Why I'm so OTT in having everything done beforehand is jokeable, but its really getting to me now.
Thanks for letting me ramble. Another of my OCDs I think. Must all be perfect.
The crazy thing is when the DC are here alone with their GPs, the house is going to be a bombsite anyway!
Feel sick again. Bleugh.

blondiedollface · 02/06/2012 19:14

Kveta I hope your FIL behaves and cooperates for you!

Contractions now 45ish minutes apart, and not any stronger. Just want to avoid all HCP right now and am absolutely NOT going in until I have to so am having nice hot baths and hot water bottles and plenty of drinks.. I'm just hoping against hope they don't stop altogether (everything crossed)!

Come on baby please play the game, enough teasing and pain now...

StarlightMaJesty · 02/06/2012 19:22

Ah, found cervix again.

If I relax but at the same time bear down, it appears!

blond don't blame you for staying the he'll away from HCPs until absolutely necessary!

TeaandHobnobs · 02/06/2012 19:30

Ooo looks like we could be seeing some more babies soon!

So, in preparation, here is the postnatal thread Grin

thedogwalker · 02/06/2012 20:20

Evening all
Blondie, how exciting, they will come back soon and fingers x its your turn to meet your LO Smile.
Kveta that sounds like an eternity more than a week, I know its nice of him to come, but I don't envy you the long silences, hoping he joins in a bit more.

I was awake til 1 am this morning with contractions that were getting stronger and stronger and closer together and then at 1 am they suddenly just stopped. I recall that I had a few nights of these practice/warm up contractions with DS1 before the real deal, so I'm hpoing I've only got a couple more days before DS2 shows up. Well I can hope.

Hope everyone is having a fantastic jubilee weekend, take care xx

SpecialJK · 02/06/2012 20:46

Wow. June babies definitely hotting up. There were 6 couples in my NCT class and 3 of them had their babies today! 2 inducements and one emergency c-s. I know the c- s girl may be disappointed as she had plann ed a v natural water home birth. So out of our NCT group there will be at least 2 sections and 3 inducements. Just goes to show that with the best will in the world, those LO's call the shots eventually!

Kveta · 02/06/2012 20:51

Ah FIL is here and wincing every time I have a BH and stop talking. He has brought a load of czech food, which is excellent, and for me a czech gardening manual (useful. If you speak czech) and a polyester handkerchief.

I am hiding upstairs and thanking some deity for smartphones :o

OP posts:
StarlightMaJesty · 02/06/2012 20:52

Hmm. I'm not sure many babies call for inductions - Grin

SpecialJK · 02/06/2012 21:44

starlight depends what they decide to do to us! 1 induction was for high blood pressure, 1 was for over 2 weeks late and the third the girls water broke over 24 hours ago. Just thought it was telling that no matter how much we try and plan all the details, and create the perfect birth plan, sometimes we have to go with the flow...

CathFin · 02/06/2012 22:02

Er, had a mad day with lots of energy, not sure where it came from but I went and bought nursing bra's, then took a ring to the jeweler to see if they can fix it (is there really only one L in jeweler??) and they can tighten up the setting so the diamond doesn't fall out for FREE so while I was there I tried on some eternity rings (as you do!).
Then I came home and made a strawberry cheesecake and bolognaise sauce.
Madness.
Just tried to barf though so I think it's caught up with me. Sleep now!
Night ladies, maybe there will be some babies tomorrow??

ceeej · 02/06/2012 23:42

Cath I also had a fairly energetic day, trip to John Lewis to buy a few bits and pieces we didn't have and then lots of cupboard rearrangement and cooking a proper meal for once, fingers crossed for a good sleep.

Definitely expecting some babies soon, particularly babyblondie who has put her mother through far too much. Sending positive labour vibes to everyone.

DairyNips · 03/06/2012 00:09

Cathfin wow that was a busy day! Hopefully you'll sleep well tonightSmile

Star sorry you lost your cervixConfused

Anyone else simultaneously wanting to go in to labour but also freaking out it's so close?! I just looked at the pregnancy app on my phone and it said '4 days to go' and I though eek!!! I could have a newborn in 4 days?! It just doesn't seem possible! At
The same time though I keep wishing that I'd get some sign my body would like to give birth this century!

blondie hope all is going ok!

For those of you who haven't seen my thread or fb, it was ds2's first night in his toddler bed tonight. It took me 1hr 55mins and 70 returns before he stayed there and went to sleep! Still, at least he went to sleep in the endSmile

Hope you all sleep well, sending sleepy vibes~~~~~~~~~~~~>

McKayz · 03/06/2012 07:10

Morning,

I am not happy this morning at all!!

MIL is coming up to stay at her Mums in Whitby, so will pop in to see us. Usually this is fine and I actually really like her.

But she copied me in on an email DH had sent her asking her to change a lightbulb in the kitchen.

The bulb only went last night when I was heading to bed and I mentioned it to him. I am more than bloody capable of changing a fucking lightbulb, in fact I have just bloody done it!!!!

Angry

Must be hormones causing me to get so pissed off over a lightbulb!!

SeriouslyStrongCheddar · 03/06/2012 08:24

Morning all!

Blondie - hope LO is playing nicely and you're on your way to the postnatal thread!

Star - glad you found your cervix again, it's very frustrating to lose something when you've just had your hands on it. Was going to suggest you try down the back of the sofa or in the fridge but glad it's been recovered. Grin

Well, finally got the travel system yesterday so we can at least bring baby home from hospital eventually! Tomorrow will be wardrobe construction, which should then allow us to dump all the crap that's in the crib downstairs into said wardrobes. Tuesday will be cot construction (once we've bought the bolts we need) so he actually has somewhere to sleep, plus reviewing hospital bags (DH, I'm looking at you to replace the Dream Sheep with nappies in babies bag).

Phew.

Hope everyone is having a good Jubilee weekend!

rachyroodle · 03/06/2012 08:47

Morning all. Sounds like everything is really hotting up and there are some babies on the way. This thread is going to start to go quiet as people start to migrate to the postnatal thread :)

Nothing to report here apart from getting chubbier by the day and being a little bit engaged. Spending plenty of time sitting in the garden and trying to enjoy myself for the last few days before I am a mummy.

Kveta your FIL sounds comedy and you are so good to have him to stay right before your due date. Sounds like you need to plan regular escapes with your phone to keep your sanity.

Star also quite perplexed at the thought of trying to find a cervix. Would not know where to start. Maybe as SSC says down the back of the sofa - that's normally where all my stuff is. I guess knowing what you are doing for this type of stuff comes with previous motherhood experience!

Reading everyone's posts it does all sound like we are nesting a little bit at the moment. Even I have had the sowing machine out and am making coordinated cushions and eiderdown for the daybed in the nursery. Normally I'm very good at feeling inspired and buying the fabric for these things and a lot less good at actually doing the work!

Special it is so true that have to bear in mind that may not get the birth that you plan! I have a horrible feeling that my bump will stay put until forcibly evicted. Although we have had one NCT baby so far that popped out on gas an air a week early so that gives me some hope.

blondiedollface · 03/06/2012 09:46

Bit of a sleepless night, still contracting every 45-50mins, got very odd period type pain that spreads from where normal period pain would be and radiates up through my whole bump and lower back... Ugh.

DH has however made me breakfast (Nutella on toast!!) in bed and has been lovely all morning.

Wishing it would start or stop, one way or the other... I never believed people who said they'd been in labour for 3/4 days. Needles to say, I have no shadow of a doubt that they were not in anyway lying.

Bit too tired to read all posts, but hope you're all enjoying your weekend Xxx

Kveta · 03/06/2012 09:53

still no baby here, sigh, I was almost optimistic last week that this one would be early! no hope of that now, unless she really gets her skates on. had a few nippy contractions overnight and this morning, but nothing to get excited about.

absolutely ravenous all the time, but no food appeals, so am dreeping about the place moaning - luckily DH has taken DS and FIL out to the Imperial War Museum at Duxford, which is an easy drive from us, and gives them a day of manly bonding, and gives me a day of doing very little except watching the river pagaent. I have told DH he has to do at least 2 circuits of the museum, and I don't want to see them back until it closes :o he has form for doing a museum tour in 30 minutes, saying 'seen it all' and wanting to leave, and his dad isn't much better.

sadly the weather is shite today, otherwise they were all off to the miniature railway, which DS is desperate to see again. hoping tomorrow is dry so they can go.

McKayz that's sweet of your DH - as he can't be there to do the lightbulb change for you - try not to take it as a slight, it's just him being nice :) I do know the feeling, as DH will sometimes insist he does something manly like carrying the shopping in, and I will get all Angry and point out I'm perfectly capable, thank you very much. It's just them trying to be chivalrous, even if it feels like undermining when you are sleep deprived and hormonal.

blondie hope you get some rest today, thinking of you. You'll be next on the post natal thread I think!

come on babies!

OP posts:
emblosion · 03/06/2012 11:08

Hang in there Blondie hope things either hot up or calm down to give you a bit of rest!

Kveta am laughing at the thought of your DH's whistlestop museum tours - mine is exactly the same! The war museum sounds like a good manly day out though so hopefully they will stay entertained for a bit longer...

Starlight glad the missing cervix turned up again - the though of it being lost did make me chuckle too! My bump is so mahoosive now that I don't think I could reach mine if I tried!

Good luck with the furniture construction SSC

Cath hope you got a good night's sleep and are feeling rested after your mega busy day yesterday!

I seem to be alternating between days with masses of energy and days where I just feel ill and knackered! its cold and rainy here today so I might just slob on the sofa and eat! DH has suggested going to see Prometheus at the cinema - I guess that could be an idea as i suppose we wont get many cinema trips for a while once DS makes an appearance.

Have a good day all!

McKayz · 03/06/2012 12:27

I feel awful today. I don't know if baby has dropped down or if I am having a shit day but it really really hurts to walk or stand up. Loads of pain in my left hip too. Loads of braxton hicks since I woke up too.

I hope this is the beginning of the end. Providing she holds on until my Mum gets home tomorrow.

StarlightMaJesty · 03/06/2012 12:33

I feel awful too McKayz.

Perhaps it is the low pressure or something. I'm tired and achy although probably got enough sleep.

I've tried to go back to bed but just feel bored and bloated.

crackersncheese · 03/06/2012 13:23

McKayz it must be a day for it I think. Leaving for a wedding in an hour but the thought of leaving my hot water bottle and getting ready really isn't appealing. Sods law, felt fine yesterday then back to crampy and sick when I acually have to do something I'd been looking forward to.

Hopefully some baby news (Blondie I'm looking at you) by the time I get back this evening.

Have a nice restful day everyone xx

bemybebe · 03/06/2012 13:52

I also feel under weather, but it is not too bad - I am just super lazy and sleepy. Lounging in my jeans and dh's polo shirt on the sofa - the only issue is the bump on the way Grin, wanted to clean the baby room today from all the newborn stuff scattered around the floor in boxes and bags but no, nothing will make me leave my nest at the moment.

Novmama · 03/06/2012 15:56

Good luck Blondie.

Thanks for all the hilarious feedback re sex - not done the deed yet - maybe today Grin as its DH's birthday - he only got small presents this year so although it won't make up for it....

Continued 'pressure' down below which sometimes makes me jump and wince but no other symptoms. EDD is 9th - but booked in for sweep and discussion re possible induction on Weds. Have a feeling this is not going to be a spontaneous baby!

I'll keep reading and posting. Great Tea for the post natal thread....

PinkPanther27 · 03/06/2012 16:43

Hello all, well I was feeling reasonably energetic up until about an hour ago- I'm now tired and have a headache. I did manage to make us all crowns though (ds got bored after 20 mins). No symptoms today just constant pressure on bladder. Due date Weds but pretty sure she'll be late. Bit anxious about childcare arrangements for when I go into labour. My parents will be looking after ds whilst I'm in labour but had this telephone conversation with my Mum:
Mum: "We're only looking after ds till dh gets back aren't we?"
Me "Um yeah"
Mum "He wont be that long will he?"
Me "Well I don't know"
Maybe I should ask for CS so that my Mum isn't inconvenienced so much by the birth of their first granddaughter Hmm Dont know what will happen if we`re gone overnight- might have to ask mil (who is 3 hrs away) to help out. My parents wouldnt even look after our ds on our wedding night!
Anyway Blondie how r u feeling? Hope things start developing for you.
Sorry to all those with cramps/pains leys hope that its paving the way for a shorter labour :)

CathFin · 03/06/2012 20:25

PP - parents are funny like that! I rang my dad when I went into labour with DS and he said 'but I have a doctor's appointment this morning', fortunately he realised what the priority was!
Going to try to go to sleep now if my indigestion will let me, its really bad today. Having a peppermint tea but not convinced it makes a difference when your stomach is as squished up as mine must be.

Can you believe I can't remember what I felt like in the last 2 weeks of pregnancy last time? I'm getting a lot of pressure down below but I honestly am not sure whether it means anything is imminent. Time will tell!

Not sure I can be bothered to try and locate my cervix at this point, will be far too disappointing if there is nothing going on!
