Sorry I haven't been on for awhile, I lost the thread for a while and have been hanging out in post grad towers! I hope things are going well with Jen
I sympathise with all you pregnant ladies in this heat, I am gladi don't have to be pregnant in it:)
I am waiting for the midwife to come and weigh D as he had lost about 12% of his birth weight on Friday . Hefted constantly yesterday so I am hoping it's made a difference!

NinjaChipmunk · 27/05/2012 10:04

Awesome news about the job fluffy but NOT the kind of stress you need to be going through when pregnant!
Jen I do so hope you have either managed some rest or are now in labour. Being exhausted, in pain and in sweltering weather does not sound like a nice combination at all. Brooking hard your baby arrives very soon.
And whoever asked, yes I think I am next after jen but my due date is not till 27 June and ds was 4 days late so I'm not expecting anything exciting to happen for about a month. I shall probably start packing my hospital bag though, seeing as I have time to get it together now.
I hope your cold clears up tockthe first trimester is always so full of worry as everything is so small and there is no movement to go by. You shall be fine though as your scan showed. I must check in to the TTC thread and see how generic and the other early preggos are doing.
wants hopefully if D has been a little piggy yesterday it will help him put on a bit of pudding where necessary?
Lovely to see the grads popping in, hope you are all doing well?
stacks good luck for your scan on Weds. TBH I have no idea what changes if there is a history of downs within the family, but I will be brooking for a brilliant result for you.
oh and hello to nutella and welcome to the thread!

jenfraggle · 27/05/2012 12:44

Very feeble and irregular contractions now. Can't really go to bed though as it is DH's birthday and we keep having visitors zzzz

NinjaChipmunk · 27/05/2012 14:12

Oh jen you poor love. You must be shattered!

jenfraggle · 27/05/2012 16:26

The 3rd set of visitors have now gone. Not expecting any others. I don't want anyone to know until after Spud gets here so spent the whole time hoping I wouldn't have a painful contraction that I wouldn't be able to hide. Luckily I had a few mild ones only.

ScrambledSmegs · 27/05/2012 19:38

jen Sad that sounds exhausting. Well done you for getting through it. I hope you get some rest soon.

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 27/05/2012 20:40

No Brooking for Jen to have a restorative night's sleep with no contractions, followed by a super fast pain free sneeze birth tomorrow! Come on miniJen!

Yay for tock's great scan! Congrats, those early scans are so nerve-wracking beforehand but incredibly exciting during!!

Fluffy hope you're enjoying your hols! Hurray for getting your job back! Also, I know I'm a bit late but I just wanted to say that I was told "80% likely to be a girl" at the 20 week scan as well, and I chose to have an additional private gender scan afterwards. I found the private scan really reassuring although I still wouldn't believe she was definitely a girl until the surgeon pulled her out and confirmed!

If it makes you feel any better, I'm sweating like a pig profusely perspiring in all this heat, thanks to all the breastfeeding hormones! My face looks like its melting for most of the day!

musicalmrs · 27/05/2012 23:45

No posts from Jen since 4.30pm? Hoping that's a good sign! :-)

27th June Ninja? Exciting- only a month ish away!

jenfraggle · 28/05/2012 07:49

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but still no established labour. Contractions still sporadic but are always more frequent at night. Going in for another assessment this morning but if I'm still not getting anywhere then they are talking about inducing me. Trying to keep calm but am terrified of being put on a drip

Biscuitsandtea · 28/05/2012 07:55

Keep calm Jen - remember you're a brooker. There is no obstacle we can't overcome and you have the full power of the brookers behind you.

Go get 'em girl Grin

pommedechocolat · 28/05/2012 08:46

Jen - if that does have to happen (brooking it doesn't) then you will be okay. The drip will be fine in terms of moving labour on as you are already started. In terms of getting the drip in that will also be fine I promise. You're so near meeting your lo. x

NinjaChipmunk · 28/05/2012 09:06

pomme speaks wise words. If it means minifraggle arrives sooner and you don't have to continue in this exhausting way then it will be worth it. You can get over the fear jen and you know we are all there (mentally if not actually physically) to cheer you on from the sidelines.
I have got a cold and a sore throat. Where on earth did they come from? Snotty nose in this weather is horrific!
scream how are you getting on with the breastfeeding etc? I know you weren't that keen before having her but you seem to be a changed woman Grin I have a double appointment booked with the midwife for next week to discuss bf and to make sure I have all the info on the bf clinic days in my area. Oh and how is the spd? Is it starting to shift?
My sling is started, I intend to finish it off this afternoon. And make some notes in my birth plan. And see what bits of hospital bag stuff I have...

Wants3 · 28/05/2012 09:24

Jen the drip will be fine, I quickly got into strong regular contractions and they turned it off once that happened. I was still able to move around a bit aswell. It didn't really hurt putting it in either. I hope it happens quickly for you.
I once again had to wake D up in the night for a feed and again in the morning:)

whimsicalname · 28/05/2012 09:55

Morning all.

Jen my first labour lasted for over 3 days, in a hot July. It was exhausting, and you have my every sympathy. Thankfully in the end it was all okay, and I still managed to pop a little boy out at home. Just try and rest while you can. Or go for brisk walks.

I have proper hormonal insomnia now. Despite being really tired, I spent 2 hours wondering around the house in the middle of the night last night. Really not like me!

I also have a wierd ms related thing going on, where, when I'm tired, I feel really sick and then have the runs. I've never experienced that before. Has anyone else?

Hope you're over your cold tock, and that the sickness is abating smegs.

NinjaChipmunk · 28/05/2012 10:00

sometimes when I'm tired I feel a bit nauseous whims I'm also getting a bit of insomnia recently too, it sucks. I also keep getting a weirdly hormonal feeling, a bit like homesickness, where I just want to scoop up ds (and to an extent the baby in the bump!) and not let them go....
DS is being very clingy at the moment, so glad its not me taking him to nursery as we are both in bits when that happens. I think he's feeling very unsure of whats going on. He knows that in the next few months, he'll have a sister, a new house and will be starting school and he really is too young to understand how any of these things will affect him poor sausage.
what is everyone else up to this fine day?

TheLittleFriend · 28/05/2012 11:01

I really feel for you my love, this wait must be so tough. You are so close though, just think of that first cuddle & brook like you've never brooked before!

(btw ninja I first read your post as "I have a double bed booked with the midwife for next week". Didn't realise they offered such support!)

NinjaChipmunk · 28/05/2012 11:06
Grin
Stacks · 28/05/2012 11:21

Morning all.

Quick post to send brooking vibes to Jen, everything will be fine my dear, and you'll be meeting your LO very soon.

2 sleeps left till my scan!

clickingtock · 28/05/2012 12:03

Brooking for Jen and the two insomniacs. Sounds tough. Stacks so excited for you.

Sinus cold much better after face and head massage. Thanks. Also peeing and eating for England. Good signs I suppose.

Potty training too. DS much prefers a poo al fresco. Haven't got the heart to say no. Am I mad?

Waves to all. X

clickingtock · 28/05/2012 12:06

Ps Ninja your DS is going thru a lot but you sound a great reassurance. It's a lot for grown UPS to take on board let alone a little feller. Good luck with this and all the final bitsnbobs. Xx

ScrambledSmegs · 28/05/2012 12:31

Afternoon! Another beautiful day Smile

Jen sorry to hear things have stalled a bit. I know this will sound a little woo, but have you tried a bit of meditation? With DD I used to sit on my ball, close my eyes, concentrate on my breathing, clear my mind and occasionally do some visualisation - generally it was me holding my baby in my arms. Even if it didn't kick-start labour (I swear it did though!) I always felt a little more rested afterwards, and it helped me sleep well.

Ninja it sounds like a lot for a little boy to deal with, no wonder he's feeling a bit stressed. Have you tried focusing on one thing at a time? Maybe draw his new room together one day, that kind of thing. I'm not a child psychologist btw, don't take my advice if you think I'm wrong/nuts!

Stacks 2 more sleeps! So exciting! Hope you're well.

tock glad you're feeling better now. Always rough being ill when the suns shining. I think your DS has the right idea with his alfresco ablutions, who wants to be indoors when the weather is this lovely? Wink

My ms is very nearly gone, I'm feeling loads better! However I've just gone to the GP to get antibiotics, as I appear to have a flipping UTI. It's been keeping me awake as I'm so uncomfortable Sad so add me to the list of insomniacs. Hope it clears up soon - I'm heading into the second trimester and I want to enjoy it!

Did I kill the thread? Sad

Stacks · 28/05/2012 19:22

I'm guessing everyone is just enjoying the weather. I went out to the park for my lunch break, instead of reading the Internet.

Hope jen is off having her baby without any drips, and that everyone else is doing well. I'm feeling a little sick today, but hoping it'll pass after dinner. It's still 2 sleeps till scan :(

NinjaChipmunk · 28/05/2012 21:29

woohoo for the scan stacks I bet it'll be awesome.

my bloody neighbours are having a party in their garden so I'm having to keep the patio doors shut and its somewhat hot in here. DS seems to be sleeping though so that's a bonus, might get dp to go round and tell them to shut up when he gets home from badminton. I think they are students and am guessing its the end of term so I don't want to be a party pooper quite yet.

Well my sling was nearly finished ( I had like 3 lines of stitching to do) and then my needle jammed completely and I had to cut the pleated part off with scissors and take my machine partly apart to fix it so now have to re-do the ring part. And i've been grumpy with ds (although we were friends by bedtime). On the plus side we did view a very nice house today and have arrangeda second viewing on thursday.

BartletForAmerica · 29/05/2012 07:27

Just interloping to Brook No Argument for Jen. Hope no news is all good news & she's now having lots of lovely cuddles!
