Ah ok so sounds like we are about on track fluff and musical.

I was quite fat in my early 20s then lost it all so seeing the scales creep up is hard for me after about 12 years of being the same weight, give or take a couple of pounds. I shall jusdt have to embrace it!

Bon weekend all, jen really hoping the hot weather kicks something off for you!

jenfraggle · 25/05/2012 13:15

We've decided now that this baby is either coming on Sunday (DH's birthday so I don't want it then) or I'll end up being induced :(

whimsicalname · 25/05/2012 14:02

Loving the name chat. Beamish, Lux and Humphrey were all on the shortlist for DS3. I think we have got more outlandish over time, but we did rein it in (a bit) for the actual name. We don't bother talking about girls' names anymore. There's one we both like, and even given 3 goes, we haven't needed it so it's still waiting.

I feel your pain jen. I've gone 6, 7 and 10 days over before. All in June/July. Just take the opportunity to sleep and drink whole cups of tea before you get distracted by a baby.

smegs, I'm not going to get that het up about the scan. with DS1 and 2 you didn't get one until 20 weeks, and I've never had a nuchal done for various reasons. I figure I'll get intervened with plenty in the US. No more homebirths for me!

ScrambledSmegs · 25/05/2012 14:30

Yeah, I think outlandish is actually quite nice, as long as it doesn't sound like something rude! The list this time round (for girls) is reasonably sensible, but I may have gone a little mad with boys names. Could anyone here pronounce Hwyel?!

I'm a bit sad that we've had to get rid of my top choice girl's name, Genevieve, as too many people seem to think it's far too much like DD's name, and even abbreviate it to her nn. DD's name is Evangeline. I don't think it would be a problem as I would abbreviate it to Jen or Jenny, bu DH says no Sad

whims taking it easy sounds good. I don't actually think that giving birth in the US has to be overly medicalised, as an acquaintance recently had her first baby at home over there. I think her doctor was very pro-natural birth, it's worth finding the right doc for you I think. She did have an awful lot of scans though! Seemed like every two weeks at one point Hmm

Jen look after yourself, try not to stress

Is Hywel pronounced Howel, at a guess?

I'm going to delete my name post in the morning btw, as I know at least one SIL is on MN and tbqh I don't want can't bloody take people being opinionated on the names we're discussing when I'm getting told I'm doing everything else wrong, too. They can bloody well lump it when we announce the name once the baby's here, but in the meantime I can't take the endless opinions of people that don't really matter Wink but then, I am very much having a crankypants day

I don't think Evangeline and Genevieve are similar at all, I'd have shortened to Angie or Eve/Eva and Jenny :)

ScrambledSmegs · 25/05/2012 15:11

I know Sad. DD's name is shortened to Evie (spot the House of Elliott fan!) but everyone I ever mentioned the name to has said that Genevieve is shortened to Evie too. So DH took against it, and it's out. He has, bizarrely, put Guinevere (Gwen) on the list Confused so I suppose that's near enough! I don't really like it though.

Good guess on the pronunciation! Near enough, it's very welsh so it's more How-Ell. But I have a very English accent so it just sounds like Howl when I say it Grin I don't think it's a goer, as DH is a bit Hmm about it. He completely vetoed Bede too. Our list is still a bit barmy though.

Do your SIL's know your nn, and that you're on this thread? If not I think you'll be safe!

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 25/05/2012 15:28

My parents are geordie and I have inherited a slight northern tinge, so even Howl sounds like Howel when I say it :o

I think it would be easy to put 2+2 together, since I've discussed my redundancy etc over the past month - I am probably being neurotic, though! Blush

jenfraggle · 25/05/2012 16:31

Sweep done. Cervix has started to thin at last and Spud has moved over to my left. So far it has spent the entire pregnancy on my right so fingers crossed it is getting ready to come out

jaggythistle · 25/05/2012 16:40

c'mon out miniJen!

cakes82 · 25/05/2012 16:41

Fluffy I think your due 4 days after me? My EDD is 5/10.
I went to a bumps to babies roadshow today and I felt small compared to all the other ladies there, although I think most were a lot more pg. I think i've put about 9lbs on in 21 weeks but I lost 4lb before I put that 9lbs on Confused My bump seems to have grown madly in last 2-3weeks.
At the roadshow they said normal as in not early labour came between 37 and 42 weeks so I scared DH when I said baby could arrive in 16 weeks!!
When I had my scan I was 20+5, baby's head measured 20+5 but its femur was 20+6?!?!

We haven't really started the name chat properly yet and have only got as far as liking two names both Welsh origin. Morgan for a girl although she would have to be brunette like me not blonde like DH and Ioan for a boy. There are lot of lovely names but we wanted to go down the Welsh name route and we need names that everyone in the family can actually pronounce.

Hope things progress for you Jen and by time I get access to internet on Tue you'll be enjoying snuggles!

Stacks · 25/05/2012 17:48

Afternoon all. Hope everyone is well, took me a while to catch up on the old thread, and by the time I had you'd filled 3 pages!

Nothing much to report here, just looking forward to a lovely sunny weekend, then my scan on Wednesday next week. We've planned a trip down to DHs grandparents after our scan to tell them the good news. I'm worried though that I've jinxed it by making plans and the scan won't be good.

I also found out we have downs syndrome in the family, DHs uncle has it. I told the midwife there was none. Going to find out some more info from FIL at the weekend, then phone her. I guess it won't make to much difference, unless the nuchal test is borderline?

Had a bad headache today, so I'm struggling to remember the things I've read. I hope Jen goes pop soon, and that everyone else is well.

TheLittleFriend · 25/05/2012 19:57

Hi everyone, just marking my place (and brooking super hard for jen meet her baby asap!)

Love all the names mentioned - good taste Brookers Smile

jenfraggle · 25/05/2012 23:34

So, been having pains every 3-5 mins since 10pm and was uncomfortable all evening before that. Fingers crossed that this turns into something

ScrambledSmegs · 25/05/2012 23:38

Go jen!

I'm going to bed now, but brooking that all goes well and this is it!

Good luch Smile Thanks

cakes they changed my due date at my 12 week scan - I'm now due the day after you :o 16 weeks, blimey that is scary!

Brooking things are moving for Jen!

I should be asleep but instead I'm making sure a very, very, never-been-so-drunk Dh isn't passing out or contracting alcohol poisoning or something :( sigh.

musicalmrs · 26/05/2012 02:36

Woo, go Jen! How exciting! Grin

jenfraggle · 26/05/2012 04:00

It's been 4 hours now but the contractions aren't painful enough yet. I can't sleep because of them but they don't take my breath away. DH is snoring away so at least 1 of us will have some energy tomorrow.

hawthers · 26/05/2012 04:26

Hi jen sounds like everything is gearing up for a Sunday arrival!

jenfraggle · 26/05/2012 05:11

Now they are more painful but less frequent. Every 7 mins roughly

Biscuitsandtea · 26/05/2012 05:12

Good luck Jen - hope it all gets going soon and minijen is here before too long.

Hope the TENS machine works Smile xx

jenfraggle · 26/05/2012 05:55

It all seems to be easing off. Kept me up all night for nothing!

pommedechocolat · 26/05/2012 06:21

jen - are you lying down or up and about? Up and about may help it to continue?

jenfraggle · 26/05/2012 06:28

I've had to lie down as knackered. Averaging every 8 mins now. Would be more active if I'd slept last night
