Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
GenericDietCola · 04/07/2012 15:56

Done but it's a bit out of date, so time for everyone to update their details when they have chance! (bossy)

Solars · 04/07/2012 16:16

Thanks Ninja, Gesundheit, or Bless you, or Sita Ram (as they say in India) (delete as applicable) Congratulations

fishcakefoxtrot · 04/07/2012 17:34

Congratulations ninja Thanks hope you and ninjagirl are doing well Grin

itsMYNutella · 04/07/2012 19:03

Thanks Wow Ninja what amazing news!! Congratulations!! Thanks

Imps7 · 04/07/2012 20:31

Yay Ninja!! 4th July is a brilliant birth date!!! Hope you're enjoying your snuggles!

Stacks · 04/07/2012 22:26

My mw appointment isn't till tomorrow. My notes, calendar and phone all say it's tomorrow, but I convinced myself it was today. Had DH take a day off, and I worked from home to go :(

DH won't be able to come along with me now, so I'll have to go alone and just hope nothing bad or stressful comes up. It's a shame he won't get to hear the heartbeat with me. Ah well, just 3 tortuous long weeks till my scan!

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 05/07/2012 09:19

Oh no stacks! If it's any consolation, DH has never managed to come to a MW appointment with me (he's a nurse, it's luck of the draw whether he has the day off or not). And not all MWs will listen to the heartbeat that early, I understand (mine didn't) - I'm sure it'll all be fine :)

Stacks · 06/07/2012 08:19

Well I made it to my midwife appointment again and all is well. She found the heartbeat straight away which was reassuring. Also got signed up for some classes in October, ante natal ones I guess. Found out my midwife has been on holiday goes basically the last couple of months, which is why no consultant appointment yet. She's back soon and will chase up my referral though.

How is everyone else?

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 06/07/2012 09:52

Yay stacks :)

I had a minor melt down at 4am - nothing really wrong (work stress, stressing about the state of the spare room which I'd hope to have painted by now, etc), and things just got a bit "much" as they occasionally do Blush but luckily DH mopped me up off the floor and put me back to bed :o I think that might be preggo meltdown 3 :o

NinjaChipmunk · 06/07/2012 12:30

Stacks that's brilliant news. And great she found the heartbeat so quick. Your scan will creep up quickly i bet.
Fluffy sorry to hear you are a bit stressed. Your dh sounds lovely. And a meltdown every now and then is to be expected.
Well dd is looking very cute and cuddly snoozing next to me after a big feed. Breastfeeding seems to be going well so far and my milk is starting to come in now. The first 30 secs or so of any feed are somewhat painful but seem to then calm down so I think her latch is generally ok.
So my ctx started around 9ish and I put the tens on (fucking marvelous machine), my folks left theirs at 10.30 and got to us about 12ish. We left about 1.30ish and got to hospital just before 2am. I was 5cm on examination but the ctx really started coming continuously from then on so I grabbed the gas and air, then my waters went and she was born after 25 mins pushing. I have a 2nd degree tear and a few stitches but nothing too bad. Such a different experience to ds's birth.

GreenOlives · 06/07/2012 13:15

Ninja Wow! That really was a sneeze birth Smile Hope the stitches are not too painful! Reassuring to hear that second time can be completely different to first - what happened with DS's birth?

Stacks Great news on midwife appt and hearing heartbeat!

Fluff It's your hormones you know, you're allowed at least one meltdown a week I'm sure so you're doing pretty well so far!

Well ladies Olivebean has a heartbeat! It was flickering away on the screen today and it made me cry! Only 6+6 so still a long way to go but it's a bloody good start!

GenericDietCola · 06/07/2012 13:31

Oh Ninja that sounds like a fab birth! Was it a bit of a shock being so quick, or were you glad? enjoy newborn snuggles and tell us DD's name if you are brave enough

Olives I said it before but will say it again - fab news!

Stacks that's great re HB. I've got my 16 week appt later this month, wonder if I'll get to listen to the HB - hope so.

Fluff things seem so important when you have such a major deadline coming up! Glad DH looked after you though.

We will be telling DH's family this weekend, but DH is a bit miffed because all the plans we had to see everyone have fallen through, so he's now saying 'stuff them, we'll just tell them via text', so I'm trying to calm him down and persuade him not to fall out with everyone. Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

whimsicalname · 06/07/2012 14:11

Belated congrats to ninja Hurray!

Glad to hear good scan news. Hope you're ok fluff. That sounds like an entirely reasonable melt down!

The Whim household is swamped with packing, plumbing, family outings, leaving parties and little boys' birthdays. It's all a bit manic.

Hope you all have a good weekend, and nobody gets flooded. I'm so fed up of looking at the weather forecast for the week and just seeing 5 rain signs. Still, Washington seems to be faring worse, so FX it improves on both sides of the Atlantic.

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 06/07/2012 14:58

Yay Olives! Terrific news! When's your next scan, is that it til 12w?

Great sneeze birth ninja :) What happened with DS's birth, was it long?
I'm really freaked out at the idea of medicalised pain relief, are Tens really good? Did you hire or buy? I really want just gas and air (and tens if they get the thumbs up) - no pethidine or epidural - but I don't know how realistic that is Confused

:o whims it can't be any worse than here, surely?

I can totally see DH's POV Generic but I'm an antisocial pain :o Hope you can get everyone together to announce soon :)

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 06/07/2012 15:01

For the past 3-4 days I have a massive intermittent bulge in my belly button region which I reckon must be a bum......... it gets a bit sore, and when I prod it rub it I get kicked in the fanjo :o

Biscuitsandtea · 06/07/2012 15:03

Congrats Olives - awesome news Smile

Lovely story Ninja - dd sounds adorable. We have plumped up cushions for you (and of course any other visitors) in the post grad thread when you fancy popping your head in xx

scarletfingernail · 06/07/2012 15:06

Wow Ninja that was shockingly quick. How's DS taking to being a big brother?

Yay for Olivebean Olives

How long to go now Fluff? Is it you or Loopy next? Expect to add a 0 to the end of that 3 by the time you go into labour Grin

Biscuitsandtea · 06/07/2012 15:09

I may have needed to add two 0s Scarlet..... BlushGrin

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 06/07/2012 15:16

scarlet don't say that! Shock :o
It's Loopy next, then cakes and I are due within a day of oneanother :)

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 06/07/2012 15:19

...which is some scary shizzle - only 13 weeks to go! Shock And it's definitely tri 3 tomorrow!!! :o

JenFraggle · 06/07/2012 16:28

Fluff I used Tens from the Friday when the contractions started through to the Monday evening. I had pethidine late afternoon on the Monday and eventually gas and air (which is lovely) before I found that the Tens just wasn't doing anything for me any more.

I borrowed it from a lovely lady :) I must get it sent back but keep forgetting to order new pads so will go and do that now while I think about it

Biscuitsandtea · 06/07/2012 16:38

Don't worry about sending it back Jen - I won't be needing it Grin

Biscuitsandtea · 06/07/2012 16:39

I'm just glad it was useful (and you didn't forget about it until you unpacked your labour bag back at home like i did Blush)

NinjaChipmunk · 06/07/2012 16:48

olives that is awesome news on the heartbeat, so chuffed for you. You must be over the moon.
fluffy the tens was brilliant, I loved it, it cost £23 I think for hire and that includes the postage back. it was from here and I used it right till the very end. Only stopped using the boost button so I could feel better to push.
For those who asked about ds's birth, it was 16 or so hours, I was very scared and subsequently didn't deal well with the pain at all which made it more frightening, and then had a nearly 4 hour 2nd stage that ended in ventouse and an episiotomy and lots of stitches. I had pethidine which made me feel really groggy for several days and also affected ds and we had complete failure to breastfeed which led to me feeling a whole lot of unnecessary guilt for a long time. This time I was able to deal better with the pain and sort of separate the top half of me from the bottom half and understand what was happening a bit more.
Oh and we have a name! Mia Rae. We were going to call her Nia which is a family name on dp's side but felt Mia suited her better.
whims when does the moving kick off? You certainly sound busy!
Will pop over to the post grad thread when I get a chance but we have family down this weekend so may not be for a while.

Biscuitsandtea · 06/07/2012 16:53

Fluff I've only had gas and air for both mine. I went in with an open mind as to what I would need / want but as it turned out it never seemed to come up whether I should have something else Hmm. I had a local anaesthetic for the episiotomy with ds1 but again I think that's standard rather than a choice?

Oh, I did have a spinal for my stitches (to third degree tear) for ds1 but to be honest they didn't even really ask if I wanted that - it was just sort of a given. I suppose I could have objected if need be but it took them an hour to do the stitches do was probably best Grin
