Welcome!

Nb. She likes to do various mud and puddle related activities while wearing her party dresses (beautiful, well looked after hand me downs). In Clarks she made me buy her white (!!!) & pink flowery shoes... Even dh couldn't make her try on more sensible ones. I was flabbergasted at her strong opinions on shoes at the tender age of 20 months especially when she's not a girly girl activity wise so beware pink haters, you might get stuck with it anyway!!

GreenOlives · 23/06/2012 15:26

Dream I think all children just love the bright and sparkly colours that girls shoes come in - when DS was younger and we asked him which shoes he would like to try on he would always pick the pinkest sparkliest ones! And it took a lot of persuading to get him to even look at the boys ones! His favourite toy was his kitchen and he loved pushing his teddy everywhere in his toy stroller (which I remember caused some people to make some strange comments!) Funny how things change though - my big pre-schooler would now not consider playing with girls toys! His current fav is his knight, 3 headed dragon and orgre! Smile

ScrambledSmegs · 23/06/2012 16:05

Oh yes Dream - DD loves everything sparkly and bright. Pink is good, but yellow is much better! It's her favourite colour, which is great as it means she's always visible at a distance! I hope she won't go too 'girly' as I'm not very comfortable with all the pink princess crap around these days.

Right, craft advice needed please! I really need a good, simple cushion cover pattern with clear instructions, to make on my sewing machine. The one I have is ok, but not quite right and I'm too nervous (and novice!) to adapt it yet. Is there a good site with patterns on, a bit like Ravelry, that I can join?

Green how are you doing? Really good to see you here Smile

Hi Smegs I'm driving myself mad today as I don't feel pregnant. I'm hoping the steroids may be masking some of my symptoms. Don't think it helps that I'm knackered from doing night shifts! Can't believe it's nearly 20 week scan time for you! It seems to have gone really quickly but I bet it doesn't feel like that for you! Hope the tiredness is not too bad at the mo. x

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 23/06/2012 17:04

That does sound exhausting tock you're a braver woman than I!

I'm just very tired, thanks for asking tock. Sure I'll feel better once the iron kicks in :)

I'm on my phone so I can't link smegs but craftsy is a good multicraftual ravelry -type site. Have a look for an "envelope cushion" which is a pretty simple construction.

It's so sad that little boys get such a negative response. I'd be dead chuffed to have a boy :(

hawthers · 23/06/2012 17:13

I bloody love my boys and all those silly people who say they are sad to have boys make my blood boil. But then I think I'm 'normal' and would have been equally happy with either

NinjaChipmunk · 23/06/2012 17:21

I would have been absolutely chuffed to bits if I'd been told I was having another boy. I really don't understand the negativity. Ds is bright, funny, creative and affectionate, I'd have been happy with a whole troop of boys. As it is I just get people saying we can stop trying now we'll have one of each or that I must be pleased the balance will be evened up. People are weird!
I wish I had some biscuits. I want something to snack on!

clickingtock · 23/06/2012 17:36

I have heard myself say to someone it's nice to have one if each - making small talk - and hated myself for it afterwards as I don't believe it for a minute. Hawthers - loving your post. And Ninja. I realise how lucky I am to have a DC and the prospect of DC2 is equally amazing, boy or girl.

Green lovely to see you here and remember we are all Brooking. First try is tough especially after losses. Try to stay +. (hugs)

Xxx

clickingtock · 23/06/2012 17:37

Mean first trimester of course. X

itsMYNutella · 23/06/2012 17:56

Hello all!
How is everyone? I popped in some time ago and have been on holiday, have I missed much? Anybody due shortly?

I have only good news to report. All is well with bump, but I can't do up my jeans comfortably. Not sure if that is due to holiday or baby..... Ah well, I was in France so one has to enjoy the food! :)

NinjaChipmunk · 23/06/2012 18:11

Rock your first sentence made me laugh, I think you've totally hit the nail on the head.
Hi Nutella where did you go for your hols? I'm due on weds this week, not sure who is after me? I should probably look up the stats thread plus we have some new grads from the ttc thread slowly making their way over as and when they. Are ready.

NinjaChipmunk · 23/06/2012 18:16

Bloody autocorrect! I meant tock not rock!
And Nutella obviously you went to France! How many weeks are you?

clickingtock · 23/06/2012 20:45

Ninja of course you are due on Weds. So excited for you. I think the last days are almost mystical iykwim; that twilight zone between being on the inside and not q on the outside and we have no idea what makes the baby decide it's ready, not really. Amazeballs. Keep well lovely. Xxx

DreamingOfPeace · 23/06/2012 21:07

Oh, ninja, a nice sneeze birth on Wednesday. I'll pencil you in to deliver at 10am, home for 6pm to mn and tell us all about it. :)

Won't it be lovely to have one of each?
Your family will be Complete
I bet you're glad this one is a girl

DreamingOfPeace · 23/06/2012 21:09

Btw, my least favourite are: well at least its all out of the way now (who says I'd not want a fourth?! dh says it, but that's not the point, I'd like another ) , you've got your hands full, lucky to have a girl as well, and anything 'double trouble' related.

NinjaChipmunk · 23/06/2012 21:15

ooh dream that'd be nice, I'd go for that! And of course now I'll have one of each I can stop thinking about having any more because obviously I won't need to!
My guess it she'll arrive on Friday. Ds was 4 days late by scan dates and 1 day late by my dates although I went into labour the previous evening. Scan dates put me due on weds, my dates put me due on Friday so we'll see! It'd be nice to get in some second viewings and maybe an asking price offer on our flat before it kicks off! I should probably read the instructions for the tens machine this week too...

NinjaChipmunk · 23/06/2012 21:16

I bet its the double trouble stuff that riles the most, I can almost feel my heckles rising for you!

itsMYNutella · 23/06/2012 21:30

thanks Ninja I'm 13+3 and really need to shop for bigger trousers and more bras!

And how exciting you're due next week! I'l have to linger even more on here :o

DreamingOfPeace · 23/06/2012 21:38

Yes, double trouble is my most hated! I feel like saying double the love, double the smiles, double the joy... Even though they're still such hard work atm though finally I think I can say I will manage to ebf despite the time its taking... I'll brook no argument you get your asking price offer right quick!

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 23/06/2012 23:18

Just popping my head round the door to see how you're all doing.

Far that's fabulous news about your scan! Congrats!!!

Whims I haven't ever posted in AIBU but the few threads I've read in that forum seem pretty scary! You're a brave person. I'm off to have a look at your thread next, but it's already obvious that YADNBU!

As for the gender selection thing, I'm going to be all controversial and say that if it was possible in a safe and easy-to-implement way I would think that it should be available in the UK. We can't pretend that people don't already intervene with every other aspect of reproduction, why not this? I think gender selection is preferable to women having babies they don't fully love/appreciate due to gender. I still believe the vast majority of women wouldn't use selection, they would love their child whatever the gender. Only those people that are obsessed with a particular gender would use selection, and surely letting them select is a more humane option than, say, sterilization? Grin This is just my opinion though, I'm not trying to pick a fight with anyone who disagrees, I respect all viewpoints on this. It's an important ethical issue and all perspectives should be considered.

Jen your DD is just gorgeous! Absolutely scrummy! Well done you (again)!

Sorry that's as far back as I've read. I hope everyone is doing well and time is whizzing by for you all! Ninja I'll be back in here every day to check everything's going smoothly for you. Can't wait for your sneeze birth to arrive!! Of course you must be looking forward to your DD's arrival as well seeing as your family won't be complete until you have a girl Hmm

Biscuitsandtea · 24/06/2012 07:09

Nipping in super quick to brook it big for Ninja. Can't believe you're due already! I can remember telling DH when you got your BFP cos I was so excited for you Smile.

Good luck though lady - cant wait to hear about your dd Grin.

Biscuitsandtea · 24/06/2012 07:10

And yy to all the gender stuff.

'will you try again for a girl'
'gosh you're outnunbered'
'did you want a girl'

Yadda Yadda Yadda

Yawn

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 24/06/2012 09:04

I don't know scream there are a scary amount of these threads in conception and pregnancy? I suppose in a theoretical sense, the worry would be the population would become unbalanced, ie more girls than boys?

Someone asked a really interesting question in pregnancy along the lines of why you need new Moses/cot mattresses but 2nd hand prams are ok in relation to SIDS. I'm on my phone so can't search but I remember a brooker had done their dissertation on SIDS and I wondered if anyone knew? Just curious is all :)

Wow ninja that's come around fast! What an exciting week we have coming up!

Dream I have twin brothers and tbf they are definitely double the trouble ha ha! Wouldn't have it any other way :o

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 24/06/2012 09:06

"Did you want a girl?" biscuits Shock
