Soooooooooooo tired. Was determined to sleep til 6. I sleep like a log on night shifts (joy of the bed all to myself!) but some fucker (not you fucker welcome back btw!) just rang me and woke me. Now I can't get back to sleep because I'm too hungry and too damn hot!!

Apple glad to hear you have sorted things out. I do always think pregnancy is such a hard time for relationships. Especially first pregnancies when it's hard for men particularly to understand what you are going through and for them to relate to the baby. Not excusing his behaviour, but I see this a lot in men. I hope you are feeling much better today.

applepieinthesky · 25/05/2012 15:33

Welcome 4kidsnobump

Yes I?m feeling much better now thanks detective. 15 weeks today and the weeks seem to be whizzing by now. I have a midwife appointment this afternoon at 4.40pm. Not quite sure what it?s for but i?ll soon find out.

Has anyone else signed up to the new NHS advice service for parents and parents-to-be? I heard about it on the news and signed up online. They are supposed to send me tips and info once a week and it?s free so I thought I?d try it out.

MissMummy1 · 25/05/2012 15:39

I too thought I'd got over the morning sickness. I had it really bad for weeks - partly how we found out we were pregnant! - but it had disappeared from about 11 - 13 weeks. Until yesterday, now certain foods and smells are starting to make me feel icky - although *touchwood not quite at the physically throwing up stage again. And the worst bit is it's mostly foods I love which I've gone off - curries, chocolate, etc. :(

Also, I seem to have developed travel sickness. It's not quite so bad when I'm driving, but the past few times I've been in the car with DH I've wanted to throw up. Maybe it's just his driving...? Safe to say there's a packet of ginger biscuits going straight in the glovebox this afternoon!

DesperateHousewife21 · 25/05/2012 15:56

misslaughalot I had my scan two weeks ago as well and I haven't heard anything either so im guessing it's a good thing and just waiting for the letter.

misslaughalot · 25/05/2012 16:06

Thanks DH. You've deserted myself and Stuntnun on our scan date this time! You'll have had 2 scans by the time we have ours...

mrswee · 25/05/2012 16:10

thechick no same as you nausea for first more like 7 weeks went away comes back sprodically but it's more adversion to things. My worst one is water, I just can't seem to drink it without feeling ill after.. weird I hope that passes!

Evilwater · 25/05/2012 17:04

I'm glad apple that things are sorted out.
Welcome 4kidsnobump,

I've been for a nice swim down the local pool, during the afternoon. Best idea ever! I got to try out my new swim wear which had 70% off, and I kept cool at the same time as getting some exercise. I'm proud to have done 45 mins of gentle swimming.

Evil

DesperateHousewife21 · 25/05/2012 17:16

misslaughalot lol sorry Grin Although my original 20w scan was meant to be the 3rd!! I had to change it though as will be in sunny Spain then!

TheDetective · 25/05/2012 17:28

YY to the food aversions. I have a feeling they are here for the duration now. No chicken, coca cola, or eggs for me! Chocolate is more tolerable now, but only in a starvation emergency! McDonalds makes me wanna barf, where as before I could of had 3 meals a day there if I had let myself Grin

I still have odd bouts of retching, but mostly its only if I haven't eaten.

Cravings have significantly subdued, but I definitely prefer stronger flavoured foods and sweets, mmmmmm. I managed to do a weeks shop for the first time in this pregnancy yesterday, so that is an awesome sign that the first trimester shite is going! No longer wanting loads of fruit, like pears or tangerines. But still eating more fruit than usual!

I don't enjoy any of the meals DP used to make for us, like his chicken chow mein, curries, stirfry, creamy mushroom pasta, gnocci, etc. I prefer my own cooking at the minute! DP normally does the majority of cooking because he wanted to, but now I've taken the kitchen back! I'm mostly in to pasta with spicy sauces. Even my spag bol has hot chilli powder in Grin Tonight was supposed to be baked potatoes. But I CBA, and decided on a takeaway! Not been wanting a pizza for ages!

Lilliana · 25/05/2012 17:37

Evil swimming is great (once I get past the changing room and into the pool - I'm in the fat looking stage) Been trying to go once a week at least, it's also one of the few places that I don't feel rotton with hayfever :)

Its weird how pg affects everyone so differently, I'm guzzling water, hate chocolate and crave crisps and lollypops (no ice cream though).

How long did sickness last for everyone? Every time I think I'm over it, it comes back without warning.

Apple will have a look into the NHS thing, can you let us know if it seems any good please.

DH and Misslaughalot they said to me we would have a call within a few days if there was a problem, otherwise they will send a letter eventually so sounds like everything should be fine for you both.

StuntNun · 25/05/2012 18:05

Can't wait Miss LaughaLot these scans are addictive aren't they? I'm absolutely desparate to find out the gender of this baby but can't justify the expense of a private scan.

No work today because it was the kids' school sports day so I set the alarm for 7 a.m. so I could have a lie in... and woke up at 6 a.m. anyway. Definitely a creature of habit.

The estate agent came out to value the house today so it looks like I could be joining the peeps moving mid-pregnancy. Just waiting for DH to give the go ahead. Anyone interested in a three bedroom semi in rural Northern Ireland?!

OP posts:
GTbaby · 25/05/2012 18:45

First itchy boobs n now swollen ankles ! Got my feet up n been doing a few feet stretches. I haven't been stood up much today, mostly sitting so guessing its the heat Sad.

Just worries if it's like this now how will it be when I've got extra weight to carry!

TheDetective · 25/05/2012 19:04

Swollen ankles here too!

Socks for work are killing me, making me itch like crazy and digging in to me! Resorted to wearing flip flops to/from work, and finding the oldest saggiest socks in the drawer which are 16 years old. This helped. A little.

Oh the joys Wink

mrswee · 25/05/2012 19:24

I don't remeber swollen feet starting this early last time bu I had them today and yesterday, it is hot but not as hot here in Edinburgh as in land... I am not sure how my feet know it's hot when I am in an air conditioned office anyway Hmm

I guess it's prbably down to me not drining any much water, just juice

Chunkychicken · 25/05/2012 19:41

Have skimmed the thread - can't believe its 4 pages already!!

Hi new mums-to-be/mums-to-be-again, welcome :)

Not got a scan date yet, not got a result from NT yet either but assuming its ok as would have had a call by now if high risk.

Not finding out and neither DD or I have a specific feeling about gender. not sure whether to hope for a boy (would have 1 of each which is kind of nice) or hope for a girl (as 'know' girls & have all the stuff). Know it won't affect it either way!!! Grin

Feel so different to DD & scan showed s/he was so much bigger than she was, that I can't help but wonder if its a boy...

TheDetective · 25/05/2012 19:41

Air conditioned?!?!?!?! I am so insanely jealous right now! I can only tell you that the postnatal ward is slowly roasting me like a chicken. Even the babies are sweating.

It's like the hotter it gets the more the heating is cranked up. I swear.

Ive just had a freezing cold shower and am sat by the window in the breeze, letting it all hang out Grin

Chunkychicken · 25/05/2012 19:42

Stupid phone... should be DH & I don't know yet!!!

TheDetective · 25/05/2012 19:43

Sorry for that horrific image! My fingers ran away with me then!!

ValiumQueen · 25/05/2012 19:49

detective Grin At least it will be cold when we are at our biggest.

mrswee · 25/05/2012 19:55

Why are postnatal units quite so hot!! I do understand the babies need to be keep war but it was crazy hot when I was in with my DD.. I don't know how you can cope working in that heat!

mrswee · 25/05/2012 19:56

warm..! not war

DesperateHousewife21 · 25/05/2012 20:53

I think it might be a girl only because I'm ALOT more emotional this time. I cry at everything, ds has got me at the end of my tether and I'm snapping and sulking at dh over nothing.

Ds took an hour to go to sleep tonight in the meantime dh played on his Xbox and watched tv.
I came in once ds had finally dropped off and dh asked me if I'm alright! Err no in bloody well not!
So I made a hot choc, took my phone and came to bed. He doesn't even seem to care. Bastard.

mcsquared · 25/05/2012 20:58

I've had my first scan, was at 14 weeks bang on thanks to me not getting my appointment letter in the post and having to get another appointment. The antenatal dept never answer their phone either so I was ringing everyday for a week before I just went there in person to ask if my appointment had been made, only to be told it was the day before!

Anyway, all fine and was amazing! It didn't occur to me I'd see the baby move, did that take anyone else by surprise? I guess just because you only ever see stationary pictures, almost wish I could have recorded it on my phone. Seeing the baby try to suck its thumb was so cute! Was just within the range for nuchal scan and am low risk. Due date is 12 nov! Got 20 week scan on 26 June... Can't wait to see my baby again! We can't see a nub on any of our photos but my gut feeling is that it's a boy, we'll see!

Anyone else starting to show? About 16 weeks now and I think the bloaty belly is now definitely a pregnant belly! Feeling quite crampy over the past couple of days as well and the heat has given me headaches!

applepieinthesky · 25/05/2012 21:11

So glad your scan went well mcsquared Smile

Had midwife appointment this afternoon and got to listen to baby's heartbeat. It was so clear, it's amazing. The midwife measured it at 152bpm so if you believe the old wives tale then it means I'm having a girl. We'll see.

DP finishes work at 10 and has asked me to have the doppler out ready so he can have a listen. We have also get a few tester pots of paint (all different shades of yellow) and we are going to try them out in the nursery tomorrow.

My dad has bought us two big packs of newborn Huggies nappies which were on offer. It should be enough to last about a month so I don't need to get any more in newborn size.

All my blood test results came back fine apart from one for folate and B12 so they took another sample and will test it again. Apparently the average range is up to 100 and mine was 103 so it may not be anything to worry about but they are just being cautious. Which is a good thing when I have blood disorders in my family.
