Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Cacacaz · 08/06/2012 14:18

I am posting from my phone, so not sure who has said what and combined with the fact that my brain barely seems to be functioning at all Blushu memory is utterly appalling!

We ordered the uppababy vista after visiting the baby show, it does everything I need from a pram and is very practical especially the inbuilt SPF 50 shield, the large shopping basket and it is very easy to use. It will fit on both our cars even though the boot of dh car is small. The bassinet part has been approved for overnight sleeping too. I have used many prams and buggies over the last 11 years as part of my job and for me the vista ticks so many of the boxes that others haven't, that said it is completely down to personal preference and put individual lifestyles that will determine what we all need from prams/buggies. Those of you that are considering doubles I can recommend the baby jogger city mini I currently use this with the just turned 3 year old and almost 1 year old on our long walks to school and nursery, it is easy to push and manoeuvre although I do find the steep hill we have to climb a challenge, although that days more about my current level on fitness rather than about the buggy itself. It does just fit in the boot of my focus buy I have to remove the parcel shelf, so it probably wouldn't fit in a small car boot.

I went to a lazy daisy birthing class last night and while it was very relaxing I'm slightly terrified because during the educational segment we were shown cookie cutters with different diameters ranging from 5cm to 10cm to demonstrate cervical dilation!!! I had the most amazing nights sleep last night though, which makes a massive difference to waking at 4am nearly every morning.

We're going to leave it as a surprise this time - found out the sex with the others (My gut instincts were right about DS1 and DD1 but thought DD2 was a boy). I'm actually quite excited about not finding out! DH wants to know but he'll do it for me :)

StuntNun · 08/06/2012 15:31

I'm just back from my 16-week appointment - what a waste of time! I didn't go to it with DS2 because I hated my midwife (she pulled DS1's umbilical cord stump off before it was ready which caused a lot of pain, bleeding, infection and he now has a massive belly button). All she did today was check the heartbeat which was nice but I'm getting little kicks most days so I wasn't too worried about that. She didn't have my notes, didn't know when my due date was (thought it was 22 June!), didn't know the results of my blood tests, didn't have any containers for a urine sample, didn't measure the fundal height (don't know if they do this that early), didn't even feel my tummy, and wouldn't give me the maternity exemption form. What was the point of that appointment exactly? Definitely not worth me having to take time off work.

So I'm now very grumpy and fed up :(

That sounds rubbish StuntNun There's not another one till 28 weeks now though.

StuntNun · 08/06/2012 16:15

Thanks notatschool. Some hurts may only be healed by retail therapy so to console myself from the effects of six months of work problems (including a grievance and appeal and appeal of appeal) and the moving plans falling through and the miscarriage and the numerous other niggling little problems that add up to a grumpy StuntNun I have booked a private scan on Sunday with BabyBond.

I had been thinking that it's a waste of money to pay for a scan since I would probably find out the gender at my NHS scan but now that I've booked it I'm absolutely sure it was the right thing to do. I had been feeling a bit down and miserable but now I've got something to look forward to this weekend and I'll be able to bring the DSs so they can see the baby which I'm sure they'll love and hopefully we'll be able to find out whether it's a boy or a girl which will keep DH happy as he doesn't want to choose names until we know.

So fingers crossed for me, I'll be joining team blue or team she'll be wearing pink over my dead body on Sunday. I hope you're all madly jealous!

Poor stuntnun that did sound pants...definately worth shelling out for a private scan especially if you would like to know the sex. My 20wk scan is a week today and Ive decided not to find out as I havnt with the other three so they will all have been lovely surprises on the day...might cave in though at the time as it would be soooo conveinient to know bedroom wise.

horseylady · 08/06/2012 16:32

Stunt I felt the same (ish) after my 16 week one!! Only in that 10mins was so short in terms of time!! She did have allmy results (fine) and listened to hb but that's it!!! Enjoy your scan!!! Im already excited about next thurs lol :)

Chunkychicken · 08/06/2012 16:38

My MW didn't measure the fundal height or feel my tummy at all at my 16wks, but then wasn't expecting that as they didn't do it with DD. They gave me my pee pot at my booking in though. Also, my bloods weren't back, so she phoned for that. Your MW should have done that at least. I got my mat exemption form (NHS) at 8wks, she should def have given you that too. Not sure when you get your MAT B1 though, because I thought that confirmed your due date for your employer but you don't get that until 25+wks yet you HAVE to tell your employer by 25wks... Confused

DesperateHousewife21 · 08/06/2012 16:51

My next mw app is at 23 weeks, I thought it would be 28 but she made it for 23.

I'm getting v v v excited about tomorrow now, I keep listening to hb on the Doppler too and I will again in the morning before we go.

horseylady · 08/06/2012 16:56

Oh I want to find out tomorrow lol!!!! Lucky all of you!!! Still only less than a week!! My next appointment at 24 weeks

Lilliana · 08/06/2012 17:24

Stuntnun I can't believe she refused to give you a medical exemption form - surely she is not allowed to withold that? I had mine at 8 weeks.

My 16wk was short too - she did have all my results, went through my questions about neg bloods, listened to baby's hb which was nice. V short though but I do love my mw so def not complaining. She did say they don't measure fundal height until later.

Cacacaz thanks for the comments on the vista, we're swayed towards it for all the same reasons.

Not finding out as Dh wants it to be a surprise and I'm happy to go along with that. Can't wait for another scan though as not feeling anything :( MW did say to ring her if I was worried and wanted to hear the heartbeat again but don't want to be a pita worrying pg lady so trying to accept it happens earlier for some and surely there would be some sign if there was a problem.

Only 3 weeks until my 20 week scan, it seems soooo far away.

Must step away from MN and get writing reports

NervousAt20 · 08/06/2012 17:54

desperate I'm so jelous you have a scan tomorrow and will no the sex :) wonder if it will be another for team blue on this thread

Feel shattered today like a heavy sack of spuds so had a lazy afternoon and watched a film with the dog Grin and planning and early night. The calcium tablets im taking are making me feel really sick for most the day don't supose anyone knows of a different lot I could try? My scan is a week today Grin roll on pleasee

StuntNun · 08/06/2012 18:05

Nervous what films can you watch with your dog? Not Marley and Me that's for sure - you'd have to cover the doggy's eyes in the sad bits. Turner and Hooch had an unhappy ending too didn't it? Beethoven might give the dog ideas. What about Digby the Biggest Dog in the World?

OP posts:
NervousAt20 · 08/06/2012 18:19

Stuntnun the dog kind of got out voted on choice and I watched a chick flick and he just happily snoozed the whole was through and then wasn't impressed when I got up and the film was over Grin I couldn't make the poor boy watch marley and me I cry almost the whole way through because I no what's coming at the end :( lol

DesperateHousewife21 · 08/06/2012 18:31

I'll be at the scan place in 15 hours!! Ok sorry try not to go on about it but I'm so excited now and all my friends who know I'm going keep making me excited too!

shanelle5 · 08/06/2012 18:45

Sorry in advance for the possible TMI alert but just have to ask, about DTD.
Is anyone else REALLY feeling quite horny (sorry cant think how else to put it Blush) In all my other pregnancies I remember going RIGHT off the very idea and in at least 1 of them, I dont think we even dtd once from conception to birth but for some reason I feel at a rather heightened state almost all the time which is driving me nuts frankly as my DP has a low sex drive at the best of times and unlike some lucky ladies, he isnt one of these men who finds preggy bodies a turn on Sad so its even less likely than usual. It sucks and im snappy, antsy, frustrated and feel fat and ugly Sad There, rant over, SO sorry ladies, not the sort of thing you can tell your Mum,and hes sick of me moaning about it. Infact it has the oppposite effect so Im climbing the walls. Anyone else feel like discussing their sex life or lack of? I LOVE this board LOL

Lilliana · 08/06/2012 18:54

Me Shanelle! Have done since the first tri and not lessening. Esp weird as we had been trying for quite a long time and thought I would actually be glad not to have to dtd so regularly! Dh is always shattered from work and falls asleep as soon as his head hits the pillow and has been away all this week so no chance.

NervousAt20 · 08/06/2012 19:11

Nop shanelle im the opposite :(

SwissArmyWife · 08/06/2012 19:14

Shanelle, me too. Although my sex drive has only just replenished itself, was completely off sex up until now and I have to say I felt pretty guilty about it, poor DP hasn't been looked at twice in that way since I fell pregnant, but i'm rather quite grateful it's returning. Grin

I think you should talk to your DP about it, let him know how you feel. I've already told mine a million times I feel fat and ugly and he's been so supportive about it.

Anyway, news of the day - I really want to sue Asda.
Bought some peppers from them (a pack of three, green, red and yellow) a week ago and upon cutting open the red pepper found it was actually mouldy inside, with big black patches everywhere. So DP called them and had a go and they said they could refund/replace which we were ok with, not much else we could do really.
This week I buy more peppers from them, (a different pack) and looking forward to my nice fajitas I happily start chopping peppers up, and one of the red ones had INSECTS inside it!!! And also a lovely array of eggs to accompany them!! Crawling along the end of the knife and inside the pepper Angry I am absolutely fuming. DP again rang them (i'm no good with complaints) and they have managed to give us the excuse that there was no one he could talk to this evening so will call him back.
I was thinking of going to the papers, but I have no knowledge of this sort of thing. I just think it's disgusting!

Sorry - huge rant!

SwissArmyWife · 08/06/2012 19:17

Also stuntnun so sorry to hear about your rubbish MW appointment, what a waste of an appointment!
But I hope your scan goes well :)

notatschool · 08/06/2012 19:19

Sorry everyone if TMI...!shanelle we didn't dtd at all in my first pregnancy as had vv heavy bleeding at the start, so was super paranoid throughout. Maybe a bit with DC2 and 3 but still had a mental block. Wanted it to be a bit more frequent this time (poor DH) - I don't feel like it any more than usual, but when we do it's amazing Blush (apparently more blood rushing around down there or something!)

blonderthanred · 08/06/2012 19:20

shanelle I've been too scared.

Quite fancy some though.

swiss I have tried talking to him, and explained in great detail how low my self esteem is and how his lack of interest is making me feel rejected etc but it usually ends in a huge row as he gets defensive (feeling guilty maybe) As I said, it just has the opposite effect. When we have, as the other poster said, it has been amazing due to the extra blood in that area I have read that too. Thanks for posting ladies, I really appreciate the responses on such a sensitive subject Wink

SwissArmyWife · 08/06/2012 20:18

Lane We have the same due date! :) And my scan is on the 26th! Hope it all goes well for you :)

shanelle Maybe try a different approach with him? He obviously doesn't like the confrontation of it all - maybe he has low self esteem too? Men never talk about these things! So maybe you could do something to set the mood or do whatever it is that turns him on. Is he the kind of man that is turned on by compliments and such? Obviously I have no idea what he's like but there are ways around these things! Wink
