Devon!

applepieinthesky · 06/06/2012 09:24

I'm jealous of all these holidays! Have a great time everyone.

Back to work today. Oh the joy Hmm Anyone else back today? After work we are going to Mamas and Papas to have a look at the pram I have chosen online to test it out and make sure it's the one I want.

Bluetinkerbell · 06/06/2012 10:08

A quick question... I need to make an appointment with the dentist for my 6 monthly check up, has anyone received their maternity exemption certificate already? I remember last year I got it quite early, but I haven't got it now. Shall I just take my maternity notes as proof I don't need to pay?

horseylady · 06/06/2012 10:26

Apple yes back at work!! Long day today as I work 2 jobs. Blue yes got mine weeks ago? Take your notes hopefully you'll be ok!

Dh not sure what to suggest you do? Easy if it doesn't rain lol

applepieinthesky · 06/06/2012 10:32

Bluetinkerbell I got mine about a week after my booking in appointment with the midwife. When is your next mw appointment? You need to ask her for form FW8 and then you should get it through the post within 10 days.

It says here you can only claim money back for any charges that you paid on or after the date on which your doctor or midwife signs the application form.

Bluetinkerbell · 06/06/2012 10:45

My next appointment is on Monday, I shall ask and wait to make an appointment Wink
Don't really fancy paying for the dentist when I don't have to...

DesperateHousewife21 · 06/06/2012 11:17

Yeah I got the form at my 8 week app, sent off and got the card in a few days.

Ive just spent the last hour online creating cards (for dh and my dad) from Funky Pigeon for Father's day. I think they're great, cant wait to see them!

Lilliana · 06/06/2012 11:53

Blue I'm the same as DH - I got my card through quite quickly after sending off the form.

Didn't think of making a F day card that way DH but have bought one for Dh from the bump.

I'm on half term apple so not back till Monday - dreading it though. Got to hold on to the fact it is only 6 weeks and after the summer I won't have a class and things will be much easier. Sorry to you and Horsey and all others working today.

Also was going to make him a 'dad to be' pack as everything is aimed at the mummy and want him to know how important he is too. There was a thread about this a while back but I lost it. So far thinking about a few beers for wetting the babies head, dressing gown for when he's up in the night, a bottle (going to bf but figured we could use it for expressed milk later on), an I love my daddy type bib/vest or similar. Does anyone have any other ideas? Oh, just thought of another, maybe a hand/feet cast pack thing.

SwissArmyWife · 06/06/2012 12:21

Lilliana I absolutely love the idea of a daddy to be pack!
They're all good ideas for things, maybe some nice comfy slippers too, if he reads maybe a couple of books you know he'd like (for when he's feeding bubs) Also massage oil for baby is a great thing for a dad as it will help them bond and make dad feel important and it can be his and baby's special thing :)

Hmmm it's got me thinking now..

ShellyBobbs · 06/06/2012 12:39

Didn't sleep well at all last night and every time I turned over little buba kept wriggling until I turned onto my back again :)

MrsPaynie I've got 3 children, when my eldest started school at 4 I had my third 3 weeks later. Can't remember it being much bother to be honest (now 12, 10 and 7, nearly 8) and they are all extraordinary close. I've broached the subject of maybe giving this little one another little brother or sister due to the age difference, he just looked at me like I was completely mad; I think that's enough said really Grin

Yay 20 / 21 weeks until I finish work!

NervousAt20 · 06/06/2012 12:48

swiss I love your idea of a dady to be pack and your ideas for the stuff to put in and think I might pinch a few of your ideas Grin heard plenty of old wife's tales shouldn't do this and can't have that in the house before the baby's born and now about it's bad luck to do fathers day from bump which could just be made up but was wondering if anyone else ha heard this? Saw a little gift I would like to get DP but now I'm wondering Confused

Iheartpasties · 06/06/2012 13:48

less than a week til my scan, yippee.

mrswee · 06/06/2012 13:56

Hi everyone. Hope you are having a good day.
My day today is so much better than yesterday. My DD was amazing this morning. Really sweet telling me she loves me ect. After yesterday's I hate you mummy it made me feel on top of the world. No terrible twos today either. Phew!
On rubbish thing that happened was brain in baby brain mode, left my lunch/dinner for work at nursery when I dropped DD off.. I was all proud of myself for remembering it until I realised half way to work I'd actually forgotten it!! AngryBlush
I went back, too skint to buy lunch and dinner, what a twat I am! Bit late for work now!

SwissArmyWife · 06/06/2012 14:46

nervous it was lilliana's idea actually, but i'll be doing it too Grin
I don't think it's bad luck if you get a present from bump, I got a mothers day card with a little note from bump (that DP wrote obviously) and thought it was really sweet. Unless you personally think it's a bad idea to do it.

No movements today I don't think, was in tears earlier from worrying - I know it's silly but can't help it. I'm thinking about buying a doppler tomorrow just so I can get that reassurance, or is that a bad idea?

horseylady · 06/06/2012 14:53

What a lovely idea!!! Fathers day is just after the scan and our wedding anniversary!!

DesperateHousewife21 · 06/06/2012 15:18

Ive finally got my paperwork for my blood results and extra scan dates.

My risk of downs is low 1:335, my PAPP-A level is 0.28 which is quite low I think.
Ive got extra growth scans at 28, 32 and 36 weeks.

mrswee · 06/06/2012 15:26

I am trying not to freak out about the Legionnaires disease outbreak in Edinburgh that has 21 people in hospital, all critical and one dead so far... so far most people who have it are from or connected with the southwest of the city. I live in the north east and work in the centre but it isn't a very big place all in all.
At least you can't catch it person to person. They don't yet know the source of it which is a bit scary!

MissMummy1 · 06/06/2012 16:07

mrswee I've been working freelance for the past couple of weeks near the affected areas (South Queensferry and Craiglockhart to be precise) and in my bid to cut down on tea and coffee been drinking tap water!?! Neurotic baby brain wants me to freak out too, but like you said chances of getting it are quite minimal. I hope...

horseylady · 06/06/2012 16:27

Theyve said no from drinking water but an infected water cloud so people have got it breathing in water I assume from near the water towers? Who knows. Fingers crossed youre both ok.

Dh good news about paperwork and at least they are regularly scanning.

SleepyCaz · 06/06/2012 16:29

Can I join? Officially due 07 Dec, but been told I'll need a (third) CS, so will be delivering in November. It's DC3, and I think it's a boy! One of each so far :)

mrswee · 06/06/2012 16:50

Yep, you can't get it from drinking water. The slightly worrying thing is that they have said it's not been found to be from one building like a swimming pool or such where people visiting that building might have caught it as often is the case. They had said instead that it seems to have been airborne into the community. So basically people have caught it breathing in water droplets in the air as they walked down the street. Risk is low but I can't help being a tiny bit concerned what with being pregnant and just worrying bout everything!
I'd be happier knowing they knew where it came from and it has been sorted out!

DesperateHousewife21 · 06/06/2012 16:59

horsey yeah I'm glad about the extra scans, means I'll get one in aug, sept and oct.

Welcome sleepycaz are you finding out with this one? How many weeks are you?
We have another thread which is just for stats if you'd like to add yours on there? Sorry I can't link to it as I'm on my phone. I think it's ante natal groups though called nov stats list, can't really go wrong!

georgee · 06/06/2012 18:07

Hi all

I'm new! Will put my stats on the stats thread but just to introduce myself here I have a DD and am 15 weeks, due 25 Nov. Had 2 MMCs last year so I wasn't rushing to put myself on an antenatal board (or indeed tell too many people in RL) but this week I've suddenly relaxed a bit! In response to the thread title, I found out last time but we're not going to this time, just to have a different experience really!

georgee · 06/06/2012 18:16

mrswee I'm also in Edinburgh, the North of the city too ... and looking at the stats thread I see we share the same birthday! (Although I see I've got a whole four years on you, you young thing Smile.)

ShellyBobbs · 06/06/2012 19:07

Welcome Sleepycaz and Georgee

I've just heard of cake pops, think I'm the last to have heard of them. I was looking up what they were and a site said you can make them from left-over cake and went on to describe exactly what you did with it to get the 'pops'. Someone replied to the article,

'who has "leftover cake? Seriously. What's leftover cake? I love to cook, but there is a point at which something is too much work for the additional payoff. I will just eat the cake.'

Don't know why but it really cracked me up, I read it out to my eldest and hubby, they just looked at me like I was mad. I have the reverse crying thing, I have started to laugh at inappropriate things, I kept waking hubby up the other night laughing at the Irvine Welsh book I was reading (totally disgusting, but funny). Was also laughing at Phillip dancing on the boat on Sunday (was it?), Charlie thinking he should do the same and then Camilla shuffling about to the 'beat'.
