Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Elizadoesdolittle · 31/05/2012 08:59

The year I had my DD girls hugely outnumbered the boys by quite some way. This year so far boys are outweighing girls so maybe that's a sign! I have a couple of girls names in mind but absolutely no boys names. The only boys name I like DH has vetoed. Will start thinking properly about names once 20 wk scan is done. We will be half way then...yikes!

I'm off to stay in a cottage with my family for a week as we are celebrating my mums 60th. Trying to explain to DD that although we're going on holiday we aren't going on an airplane this time. She has high expectations already.

Look forward to reading lots of happy scan news when I return. Enjoy the long weekend everyone.

Iheartpasties · 31/05/2012 09:03

Cor Blimey I'm tired tonight. I'm hoping dh does some tea soon, I'm starving!

Iheartpasties · 31/05/2012 09:04

DD has pee-d on my twice today. argh.

horseylady · 31/05/2012 10:17

I'd love to know how to get the sweat smell out the mattress!!!

My blood pressure is stupidly low I feel so dizzy :( last night it was 80/42. I still feel dizzy and sick this morning?!

Two weeks today is my scan!!! I think boy I don't know why lol

Congrats evil!!!

kirrinIsland · 31/05/2012 10:25

Blimey horsey that is low - no wonder you feel dizzy!

detective there seems to be a lot of troll hunting going on at the moment - it's getting a bit out of hand :(

Happy birthday to your mum Eliza - enjoy your week away!

I'm supervising builders this morning, then off to the park with DD to meet some friends...

eversomuch · 31/05/2012 11:10

Haven't been around much lately, but, my oh my, you've all been chatty! :)

Exciting that 20-week scans are approaching. Mine is in two weeks. Even though my CVS results came back good, I'll still be very relieved to get the final green light that everything's ok. Energy is mostly back, appetite is mostly normal, so life is starting to feel good again. I hope those of you still feeling ill will be back in form very soon.

Sounds like lots of boys on the way. When DD was born, we had loads of girls. Funny how it shifts sometimes.

Does anyone know where the latest stats list is (EDDs, sex of babies, etc)? It seems to keep getting lost. Should we set up a dedicated November 2012 Stats thread maybe to keep updated in addition to the regular thread?

Must run, DD just waking from a nap. Enjoy the long weekend, everyone!

applepieinthesky · 31/05/2012 11:45

Have a fabulous time Eliza

I'm back from my appointment with the consultant. I'm being tested for Factor V Leiden and thrombophilia which run in the family. Factor V Leiden is hereditary and is something to do with problems with the blood clotting.

I have a vitamin B12 deficiency and the hospital will be writing to my doctors today to advise them.

I need to see the consultant again on the 28th of June to go through all the results and he wants to know how I'm getting on with the B12 supplements before he signs me back over to midwife led care. So they have brought my 20 week scan forward a day and they will tie it in with that. So I get to find out a day earlier. Yay Smile

YellowWellies · 31/05/2012 12:26

Good luck for your scan today MissMummy1!

I think the hair dye thing is basically because most dyes are not tested on preggers ladies - I mean you wouldn't sign up for a medical / chemical trial when up the duff so they simply don't know how the chemicals will affect the baby. Might be best to get foils so that no dye comes into contact with your scalp - or use a natural dye like henna or an ammonia free dye? They recommend that if you are going to do it (and gawd I've got so many greys now I need to do mine) to wait until the second trimester when the risk of birth defects starts to fall.

Also anyone who uses fake tan - I was advised by my MW to avoid like the plague during pregnancy as the chemicals cross into the blood stream (makes you wonder what the long term effects are) and therefore also into the placenta. Nice.

ValiumQueen · 31/05/2012 12:52

No long weekend in scotland

DesperateHousewife21 · 31/05/2012 15:46

I'm craving pickled foods. It started with pickled onion flavoured monster munch and has now turned into just pickled onions.
That's all I have in the house but would love some pickled gherkins too.

WaitingForMe · 31/05/2012 15:58

I just had my 16 week appointment. All blood work came back normal and baby's heartbeat sounded just like a train.

I really like my midwife as she's super fast and efficient yet makes me at ease asking questions. She took seriously my concerns about my back pain and I'm attending a physio session a week on Monday where they'll go through exercises for common things but also assess us individually.

Can't believe how quick the time has gone by since I saw her last. It's really flying!

StuntNun · 31/05/2012 16:07

DH I had a gherkin last night. YUM!

Evilwater a centile (short for percentile) is a measurement system used in growth charts. To give you an example my DS2 was born 'on the 9th centile'. That means if you took 100 babies on their day of birth and lined them up in order of height (length really for babies) then my DS2 would be 9th in line i.e. 9th smallest. It allows you to compare your child to others the same age without using complicated statistics. If your child is on the 99th centile then they are very big for their age, if they're on the 50th they're average, if they're on the 10th then they're on the small side (but still in the normal range). I hope this description makes sense to you.

It is always used to assess children's growth. For example my DS2 is nearly 6 but wears age 4 trousers which seems concerning BUT he is on the 2nd centile now for his height so while he is small for his age, he is within the normal expected range of heights for his age.

On another topic I just found out I need cortisone injections in my hips for my bursitis. Sounds ouchy Sad.

mrswee · 31/05/2012 17:00

thedetective Troll honestly? how silly! Anyway... I found vanish carpet/upolstrey stain remover was very good for getting out both the sweat smells and stains out or our mattress (DH's stains not mine!!) Or you could make a paste out of bicarbonate of soda and a little watter, not too much water, rubbit on and leave it all day until it drys and hoover it off. Both work.

I have drawn a blank on names. i made a big list last time but so many have been taken since, all my friends seem to have similar tastes and the rest i have gone off!

I was so tired yesterday after looking after mine and a friend's DD on Tuesday. I was close to tears all day and feeling really pooped and hormonal just as I thought I was getting my energy back. A bit early I guess only just over 14 weeks.

horseylady · 31/05/2012 18:58

Mrs wee thank you!!! How about pillows?? Lol when we were re building the house we moved into my parents mum complained about it lol !!

Blood pressure still the same?!

mrswee · 31/05/2012 19:09

Horsey I have no idea with pillows, I think you are supposed to chuck them out every year but I like feather pillows and cant afford to replace them every year.. so I just try not to think about it! lol

horseylady · 31/05/2012 19:16

Yeah his last about 6months lol!!

TheDetective · 31/05/2012 20:04

Oh thank god I'm not the only one with a sweaty bastard DP Grin

One idiot even dared to suggest I hadn't vetted the father of my child very well! As if it was a one night stand! I nearly choked on my own tongue!

While I'm here, can I please please please have a pathetic hormonal whinge?! You know when its one of those days, where little annoying things happen, which wouldn't normally make you think its been a bad day. Except that the annoying things that build up til you want to scream?!

I have run out of clothes hangers. I needed to buy more. Bought new clothes from two shops (mat clothes!!) and the bastards kept the hangers without asking me. I always assume they will ask....

The dog had the runs. On the floor. In front of the door. Welcome friggin' home.

Rushed home from work, and out to see Olympic Flame (for DS's sake!). Rushed back home, starving, having not eaten all day. Grabbed swimming gear, dashed to Aquanatal, to find it had been cancelled.

Got back from said cancelled Aquanatal, and had a little whinge to DP about being so god damn hungry as was so busy in work I didn't get chance to eat, and as a result I HADN'T EATEN ALL DAY!!! So he goes, 'oh, do you want me to cook tea?' Ummmmm.... no, I'd like to starve some more! So he goes off downstairs. Then 10 minutes later, shouts 'so do you want me to start tea' cue me screeching downstairs WHY HAVEN'T YOU STARTED IT ALREADY!!

Then he ruined it. So now we are ordering take away.

Oh, and the Monster Munch I just got to placate my poor stomach, had 6 Monster Munch. In each bag. WFT?! 6? 6 poxy little crisps in a bag. Takin' zee p i double ess that!

But, on the up side, one of my lovely colleagues tried to listen to baba detective for me today. And found him... the little rat bag! Been evading everyone all this time! Was chuffed to bits! Also, he moves so much now, I can feel him clearly even when I am otherwise occupied! He tickled me before! The kicks are mostly on the left side just above my hip bone, or just under my tummy button!

Now, I feel better for the moan! Sorry ladies! I know its pathetic, I'm getting on my own nerves right now! Poor DP must wonder what on earth he has ended up with! Good job I rewarded him last night Grin Reading it back sounds completely ridiculous. Apart from the Monster Munchgate. That is a BIG DEAL! Tut.

TheDetective · 31/05/2012 20:05

Oooops, and in all that I forgot to say thanks for the suggestions! Will come here before starting a new thread in future! Will try the bicarb idea! Cheers!

Pillows - launderette and wash em in a big machine and dry them in the big dryers :)

Chunkychicken · 31/05/2012 20:36

Have been feeling a bit down & slightly anxious about bubba at the mo. Think its because I feel 'fine' i.e. not sick, too tired, generally not 'pregnant', plus haven't felt baby as much lately, haven't heard the hb & with DD having the viral rash but not rubella/measles, its all been a bit much. Plus, now we're moving a wk on Tues so that's stressful...

I did feel bubba move a bit earlier & I think s/he has moved, plus with the movement of my uterus upwards, I guess it wouldn't feel the same but its all at the wrong time!! Feel a bit daft, I'm only 15wks so it wouldn't be unusual not to feel baby much :(

TheDetective · 31/05/2012 20:57

I was feeling baby move more between weeks 12-14. Weeks 15+16 were definitely quieter. I'm not sure why. Today is the first day I've felt it go mental without concentrating, or being lay down, or sat back! I'm 17+5.

Do you have an appt for 16 weeks? If not, make one, and the midwife will listen to baby for you, and give you some reassurance! :)

NervousAt20 · 31/05/2012 21:28

Hey ladies havent been on here in a few weeks, been on my hols and busy with work and there's hundreds of posts to catch up from and a good 10 pages from the last thread so took me a while to catch up! Thanks for the new thread stuntnun

Welcome to the newbies :-)

I went to the baby show other week and was amazed at some of the things that you can buy just like really? Why would anyone want that, but supose people do. Did get a pram there it's lovely muma and papas and it was a really really good deal and in laws brought it for us bless them, worked out to save over half the price so was made up with that even though I had no intention of getting anything there but it was a really good day out so glad I went with both sets of mums

Congratulations Detective on having a boy Grin

Glad you had a good hol Yw

Lots of talk on the last thread about moving houses and renovations, good luck to everyone in the middle of that. I wanted to do some decorating this winter but will have to see, looking forward to doing the baby's room so hopefully that should ease my urge

Reading that alot of ladies are going swimming and enjoying it, I keep meaning to go but just not got there yet Blush

Congratulations Garden 2 girls! Wow Grin

Talking of ISO fix bases, as someone has said (sorry been trying to catch up fast) I was worried about different ones fitting in the car as ours needs to fit in both and ideally GPs car to so we got one that has the metal bits that can attach in my car and can also fit it with a belt for others. Not to sure what the difference is but it's done and got so one less thing to this about!

Ha shelly love your reply to "was it planned"

HorseLady I've put on about 3/4 pound but was eating loads and now back to normal

DH fingers crossed for you, I'm sure everything will be fine but hope you get your app through soon so you can have some reassurance

Congratulations Evil Grin

Had my mid wife app yesturday and was a different lady as the other was at a home birth and I didn't really like her, she just seemed completely uninterested, not friendly and wanted us in and out. I asked a Q about bongela and got a sarky arse comment and then a 'I don't no' so werent impressed but heard the heart beat for the first time which was amazing sounded like a train so not sure if that's ment to mean boy or girl Confused my 20 week scan is on the 15thJuly @2pm, could someone please add me to the list :) DP has the day off so were going to buy our first baby clothes and some nursery sample paints :)

Wow this is amazingly long post im so sorry Blush

Passmethecrisps · 31/05/2012 21:49

Hello!

Last night on old crapy mattress! Goodbye horrendous back pain hello lovely snuggle comfy sleep!

Had to give the bedroom a total clean out - don't want the John Lewis men thinking we are slatterns.

Got two pairs of mat jeans today - am converted. Don't think I will ever wear anything else. Bought some chinos too but they are going back - not at all stretchy and no real extra on the waist.

Totally knackered - thank you The Queen for the long weekend.

mrswee · 31/05/2012 22:14

I'm not getting a long weekend :( well sort of as I always have mondays off but back to work on tuesday.. could do with an extra day.

What can I do about trapped wind?? it's driving me mad, it's painful and it wakes me up at night! not to mention the DH has to put up with a farty bed Blush though I have to say his farts are much worse! and so is his snoring

Normally I would take some andrews or something... what can I take?

mrswee · 31/05/2012 22:19

chunkychicken no wonder you are feeling like that, a big move coming up is really stressful and will be sending you anixous about everything else too.

I think I started feeling movement about the same time as you, we were both in a thread about it. Anyway I am still feeling movements but not everyday, I remember this with my DD too I didnt feel it every day at first.

I ate stilton today as the NHS website seems to suggest it's ok, it was really nice but I can't help feeling a bit worried about it! now that I've done it of course, wasn't worried at the time!

horseylady · 31/05/2012 22:30

Detective you can't be massively far from me lol!!! I was surprised the flame was there tbh as it's in my city ages away?! Still seems to be taking none logical route.

The pup escaped tonight, down our top garden which is 'secure' into the bottom garden which is not as secure but she had to go through a 4 ft wide beach hedge, down thier garden onto the road. It's a good half mile walk to fecth her, which I ran convinced she was going to get killed as it's a stupidly busy road 100m from where she was!! Over the little road, down a bank big road!! Thankfully a lovely girl found her and was holding her when I got there. The garden now has extra security measures which I do not think can be breached. Dh will think it unsightly but hell have to come up with a better solution.

The babies going mad inside me. It seems to like night time, and mornings and afternoons!!
