Just checking in,
I'm off to work today, so hopefully I won't get too stressed. Before that I'm off to the supermarket to get milk and tinned food.

I'm still waiting for my energy to come back.

Hoping you all are well
Evil

Best night's sleep ever last night, I'm so relaxed ow my scan is done, and it was lovely to spend last night telling a few people. We'd done a good job at hiding it, everyone was so surprised!

Pleased to see more good scan news.

We are off to Devon today for a week with the dog. Really looking forward to it, staying in a lovely cottage with garden a couple of miles from the sea. Not looking forward to the 5-6 hour drive though.

I'm taking my laptop and we have wi-fi so I might try to read some of the thread even if I don't post. Otherwise when I come back there will probably be a shiny new thread knowing how much we talk and there's no chance I'll catch up then.

Take care ladies Smile

NervousAt20 · 12/05/2012 09:19

Hope you enjoy your hols apple and get lots of sunshine :)

Ita beautiful here today clear blue sky and sun!! Fingers crossed it lasts all day!

Now everyone knows our secret, my toddler Cousin asked to see our scan photo that was been looked at by her mum so she showed her and said that's nervous's baby and she looked so confused bless her and said but where's the face? My other cousin then decided to ask me how did we make our baby Blush not sure if she's too old to realise I was lying about a big white bird brings a baby in a blanket and knocks on your front door explanation Hmm after I very quickly changed the subject lol

nutellaontoast · 12/05/2012 09:58

titsalina - pants Sad. On the bright side of life, H now owes you big time. I'd be getting to make my tea for the rest of the week Grin

How sweet is your hubs nebbo! Mine's a fantastic dad, but he didn't open a book. We had to laugh at the scene in Knocked Up where he didn't read the books, that was us :D

stuntnun - it's a race?! Well if a family holiday in late october doesn't induce labour, nothing will. I used a maternity belt btw, they're great. If anything they hold you in. The only thing is you might want to avoid it while you can, they take the strain instead of your body so there's an argument they weaken your core I think. Yoga is amazing for backs too. The bear is very cute Smile

Chunkychicken · 12/05/2012 10:19

My MS has settled a lot - feel v sick first thing but ok once I've drunk/eaten, ok during the day (as long as I eat little & often) then tend to feel queasy early evening/after dinner for a while. Much, much easier to deal with like this!!

Went through my maternity and post-DD clothes this morning. Had a good sort out, so my pre-fat clothes are bagged up for storage for moving house and will be kept safe until I can get into them again need them again. Much relieved to see that I may be able to recycle the maternity clothes, despite being almost exactly the opposite seasons. Saves a good deal of money!!!

Titsalina that sucks, poor you. Hope you get a night out soon.

Enjoy your hols Apple.

And nebbo you are very lucky. My DH didn't seem to realise a baby was coming until she was born about 7mths & we were stood at the Baby Show at the Excel arguing discussing buggies.Grin

TheDetective · 12/05/2012 11:13

Sorry, missed lots of stuff the last couple of days! Been either working or sleeping excessively. Seems someone gave away the extra energy rather prematurely Blush

In fact, I'm still in bed now with DS, the dog and the cat while dp has gone to the shop for yummy treats for me!! Cream cake, yes please! I have work in 2 1/2 hours however :(

15 weeks today eeeeeek. Still no bump cream cake will sort that one out and still in regular clothes. No one even has reason to guess if I'm pregnant :(

Scan 1 week tomorrow, and we get to know if we have a master detective or a miss detective! I'm so excited! Oh, and I still can't pick up baby with a sonicaid yet. Tried again yesterday. It's a shy baby!

Friend from work has given me a gorgeous red cosy toes with White stars on. Will go perfect with the pushchairs we have in mind! Am also currently bidding on a cot bed on eBay. I better win this one! It's the exact cot bed I want and it's brand new!

TheDetective · 12/05/2012 11:17

Btw I hate this mn app that seems to have been forced on me. I couldn't read what I had written then when I tried to it just ranging jumped to half way through my post and I couldn't finish the message off! Tut.

Hope everyone else is having a lovely weekend. Yet again I'm working all of it! Will be worth it for decent pay though! Well jell of all the ladies going on holiday! There is no way we can afford one. Won't be going next year either. But we are planning a good holiday for the year after to make up! Baby will be over 18 months then so it might be less stressful than with a 6 month old?!!

Bye for now!! God knows when I will be awake enough to

TheDetective · 12/05/2012 11:18

Goddamnit! Post next.

Stupid crappy phone!

TitsalinaBumSquash · 12/05/2012 11:46

DP arrived home with flowers this morning and is now cleaning the kitchen, I am still in bed trying to find some energy to go down, although I know it will kick the sickness off if I do. Hmm

I have a doppler so have been listening to baby bean's HB the past couple of days. Smile

Iheartpasties · 12/05/2012 12:52

I have got mad itchy ears, inside the ear. Argh! I had this with the last pregnancy and it's driving me mad!!

Thechick · 12/05/2012 16:47

iheart I had that with my first. Had never heard of that with anyone else until now.

I was in the garden trying to clear up a little but then got paranoid about toxomasplosis (sp?) and toxins, stupid I know. I'm also a little annoyed by a letter I got in the post saying that my bloods came back inconclusive for a blood disorder a bit like sickle cell that can cause still birth or it could be low iron. I'm pretty sure it's low iron. I'm pretty sure I would have remembered a hereditary blood disorder from my last pregnancy. The letter just wasnt worded very nicely and it means that I need to take more time off work to go to this centre. I already have appointments to see a high risk doctor and someone about vbac. End of me little rant.

Chunkychicken · 12/05/2012 17:05

Hate poorly worded official letters TheChick I always wonder if anyone's ever proof-read them??!!!

I finally got through to the antenatal screening place the other day, confirming my scan/bloods dilemma. Same here as someone else had; they do the scan then you get trotted off to a antenatal bloods bit where they suck you dry and beat you black and blue take a sample or 3!!

Have started sorting out all our shit clutter for the move. Finally feels like it might happen!! Only 11mths ago did we have a pg scare that prompted the house sale & new yr shag plan.. .Grin

StuntNun · 12/05/2012 17:32

After my scan yesterday I went over to tell my childminder that I'm pregnant only to find out that she's known for eight weeks because my stoopid FIL let slip. I can't believe he told her but didn't tell me that he'd told her. I've been wondering what kind of retainer she's going to charge and how it's going to affect the length of my maternity leave and now I find out she's known for that long. I'm completely furious.

OP posts:
Chunkychicken · 12/05/2012 17:53

That's so annoying Stuntnun. If only he'd let you know, you could have had a conversation where you were on an equal footing!!

Passmethecrisps · 12/05/2012 22:56

That is annoying stuntnun more so that he didn't come clean about it.

I told people at work over the last week only to find out that many had guessed. One male colleague (4 kids) guessed when I was just over 4 weeks because I came in to work and refused coffee! Another said I te an apple in front of her like I hadn't eaten in weeks. All that time trying to keep a secret!

In a dilemma about a wedding I am going to in June. It is a great friend and in any other circumstances I would be loving dress shopping with abandon. However, I will be 18 weeks at that point and I have no idea what I will look like. I have a belly just now but that is a) bloating and b) what the actual bump is shoving up and out. I had my eye on a cute spotty frock in next maternity - cheap and suitable for workwear afterward (the wedding is outside in woodland so we have been warned not to go overboard on the finery - I though getting something work-suitable would kill to birds). However, like all the best-laid plans this has gone to pot as they are out of stock until 2 days before the wedding - pretty risky.

I have a couple of boden dresses which fit which loosely around the stomach so I was wondering if I could get away with a normal dress. I have seen two in their sale in my size which are cute with the added bonus of being suitable for post-pregnancy wear.

Any thoughts anyone? I am 5ft 2 and currently and increasingly chunky size 10.

WestWinger · 12/05/2012 23:05

chunky it would appear that I have indeed been kidding myself. Thunder thighs - that's what they'll call me.

passme at 18 weeks with my first I wasn't too prolific, bump wise. We had exit seats booked on our flight - not suitable for pregnant women - I was about 22 weeks and managed to get away with no one noticing. At that stage I think you'll have a little bump rather than an obvious one - if I remember rightly at 18 weeks I just looked thickset around the middle rather than definitely pregnant. Everyone's different though. Sounds like you could get away with your Boden dresses. I am sure I have ordered that Next dress too - the delay is a bit irritating but it may turn up early.....

Lovely to see the sun today - has really cheered me up, which is a very good thing as I am a really miserable old bag at the moment.

Passmethecrisps · 12/05/2012 23:18

Good advice westwinger Think I will get the boden ones just in case. Think they'll be nice anyway. Yesterday a friend told me I was having a girl because of my fat thighs and bottom . . . Hopefully they will cover those up!

Sunshine makes such a difference - not for us tomorrow though. Rain again in Scotland

GTbaby · 13/05/2012 09:20

Oh gosh so much to catch up on.

I'm getting killer headaches now. Driving me nuts. As well as pains in my butt/hip. Got MW appointment tomorrow going to ask her about Physio as I have had a bad back for 6 years now. N don't think I can cope with an 'episode' while pregnant Sad bad backs suck.

On better note, sun seems to be out, not got out of bed yet. Grin

Chunkychicken · 13/05/2012 09:26

Glad its not only me Westwinger!!! Blush

I weighed myself this morning & I've put on another 1lb!!! I wouldn't mind, except I've not been eating HUGE amounts & its all healthy ish. I mean, a semi-skimmed choc milk (Asda reduced sugar nesquik stuff), 2 slices of wholemeal toast, a small pain au chocolat at break, a chicken sandwich & fruit at lunch, maybe a biscuit/cookie afternoon & a normal dinner. Perhaps I can eat more fruit & less pastries/biscuits/cakes, but it isn't that different to how I'd normally eat. I can't understand it. Maybe it is twins??!!! Confused

And Passme I agree with Westwinger. I think you could get away with a normal frock. I've got a party this weekend, & admittedly its wraparound in style & I'm only 13wks then, but I'm wearing a normal size 10 dress. I'm about the same size & height as you & think I wore size 12 before going into maternity clothes by about 20wks (certainly I was in my normal jeans until then, maybe tailored work clothes I switched up earlier). I was almost back to my pre-pg size & weight (except the boobs) by 7wks after, as I was a bridesmaid for my best friend. They ordered me a size 16 to allow it to be altered, and I was 26wks at the fitting, & it was adequate!! I could get it on... Then inches were taken off post-DD. What I'm trying to say is that, if I could get into a (ungenerous, fitted style) size 16 bridesmaid dress at 6mths, then you will probably find a size 10-12 (depending on style) would be fine at 18wks. :)

Just looking at my pg diary to work out my size & dates for the above comment & I've seen I was already 66kg at 18wks. So if I put on the weight at the same rate, I'll only be a lb or 2 heavier than with DD. I suppose that's not too bad... I'm just clearly a heffalump during pg!!! Grin

And sorry for self-indulgent whinge. Honestly, I'm not normally this self-conscious or bothered about size/weight. I'm hoping its hormones. I'm taking a while to adjust to giving up my body again or something!!! Blush

Chunkychicken · 13/05/2012 09:43

GTbaby def get physio. Or if you can afford it, a chiropractor. My Dad slipped a disc at work years back & was tormented with it for years, but after seeing a chiropractor, I won't say it was perfect, but after the first visit it was much better than it'd been with 'conventional medicine' treatment & by going regularly, he doesn't have as many probs. I also go for a recurrent hip/pelvic prob; I starred going when I used to he in agony after sitting in my office chair and trying to walk to the water cooler... Since seeing the chiropractor (& switching to the mobile career of teaching) I hardly ever have probs. Definitely recommend for any back or pg related pain. :)

Chunkychicken · 13/05/2012 09:44

^ started not starred...

and Be not he... Hmm

Passmethecrisps · 13/05/2012 10:39

Boden dresses ordered - thanks ladies! If they are a bit tight I can get a bump band to make it a bit neater.

Sorry about your back GTbaby. Bad backs are aweful. Both my parents suffer so I really understand just how crippling they can be.

I think we are going to need to get a new mattress. My lower back and hips are agony every night - especially lying on my back for any length of time. More shopping!!

horseylady · 13/05/2012 10:56

Sports massage by a Physio the best thing to do :) I love my back lady lots lol. I can't eat!!!! I get so full so quickly!!! The baby can't be affecting my stomach yet surely?!

ValiumQueen · 13/05/2012 12:28

Passme how about just getting a memory foam topper? Much cheaper if you shop around, and mine is fab. With DD1, pre-topper, I needed an elaborate arrangement of pillows to get comfy, but with DD2, the topper meant I needed nowt else.
