:( applepie that all sucks. Hopefully things will improve soon.

Wow stuntnun how can you slip a disc & not know it??!!! I've still got my left buttock pain but seeing the chiropractor again at the end of the month & its fairly sporadic so manageable. Think its exacerbated by carrying DD on my left hip all the time. Been better today when I've made an effort to carry her across my front.

purplehippopotamus · 09/05/2012 21:14

hello - can I join you? I've been lurking here and on December thread for a while - EDD is currently 30/11/12 but I have a feeling the scan next week will tell me it's more like 04/12/12 - so I'm not sure where I belong! Anyway - now I'm 11 weeks it is starting to feel real and I feel like I've just crawled out from under a veil of nausea that descended around week 5 - feels good to be able to get through one day without feeling horrendous! Hope everyone else is doing well -x-

Evilwater · 09/05/2012 21:45

What a bloody day!
Bad news:
I'm not getting the support from my co-workers. Today was a prime example, my maternity presentation over ran, and most important thing for each person that should have been done by the time I came back, wasn't. So I rushed around, trying to do it all and soothing patients ruffled feathers.

Then in the afternoon i tried to resolve my pay as my line manger has not authorised my nights, so I didn't get paid for them. I really hate answer machines.
Talk about stress!

Now for the good news:
I get to see a midwife tomorrow. Yay!! It's my 16 week appointment and I'm going with my best mate who knows the in's and out's of babies. I shall be going out to my fav lunch time restaurant.

Hoping you all are having a better time,
Evil

blonderthanred · 09/05/2012 21:48

Hello all, I feel guilty writing this when people like apple have such real things to worry about, but just feeling a bit rubbish. After my scan last week I had the report saying various things about the findings and the phrase 'technically difficult examination due to pt habitus'. I originally thought that meant the position of the baby but have just realised that habitus actually means body type, i.e. I am fat.

Obviously I know I am fat, a couple of years ago I was a size 8-10 but over a long period of depression I put on quite a lot of weight, spent much of last year trying to lose it as I was ttc but actually had just not bothered and let things slide in Jan-Feb and of course that's when I became pg.

So anyway when I've seen docs/mws etc I've asked about my weight as I feel very guilty about it and they've all been really supportive and helpful, just wish the sonographer had either gently said it to my face or not put it in her report. I guess I'd feel sensitive about it either way, but it makes me feel so stupid that they were being so nice and apologising for it taking so long "due to baby" when actually they were thinking "stupid cow getting so fat".

Yes IABabitU. Just needed to boohoo. Love to all.

WaitingForMe · 09/05/2012 22:03

Try to keep your chin up blonderthanred and welcome to Mummy guilt kicking in. Despite two scans showing all is fine I still feel guilty for falling downstairs.

No matter what our efforts we're all going to be too heavy/not heavy enough/too busy/not taking enough exercise/not getting enough rest/being lazy...

We can't win at this. We can just do our best. Being a little but big is nothing compared to those smoking and the rest.

blonderthanred · 09/05/2012 22:21

Thanks Waiting. I know you're right. I am pretty emotional at the moment so I know in my heart it isn't that important - the important thing is that the scan result was good and actually the pic is very clear so I can't be that difficult to push a few sound waves through!

On the whole I'm so happy and delighted to be pg at last - it's just quite easy to tip me over the edge. Bro and DH enjoying watching me weep at innocuous tv ads/rage at stupid drivers/laugh till I cry at crap jokes. I keep saying, "I know it's the hormones - but it doesn't make it feel any less real!"

Thank you again and v happy to read more happy scan stories and see some newbies. November 2012 really is the month to bring new lives into the world.

StuntNun · 09/05/2012 22:33

Try not to worry about it now Blonder there's not much you can do about your weight until next year now, maybe you could plan a new year's resolution to do something about it. I know they say to try not to put on to much weight when you're pregnant but they don't seem to take into account how HUNGRY you are.

Chunky in answer to your question I was at A&E with a suspected ectopic five weeks ago that must have actually been the slipped disc. Apparently it put pressure on my sciatic nerve which caused the bum and leg pain, then the limping led to the hip bursitis on both sides. I have had a bad couple of weeks with it but at least now there's some things I can do to improve matters.

applepieinthesky · 09/05/2012 22:51

Yeh I know, they say don't eat for two but I'm starving all the time. I have to eat every couple of hours or I start to feel really sick. I've lost 2 stone in the past year and I'm going to put it all back on again but I don't care, as long as my baby is healthy. blonder there is nothing you can do about it right now so don't beat yourself up about it.

blonderthanred · 09/05/2012 22:54

Stuntnun that sounds horrible. Poor you. Hope you can get things under control and start feeling better.

Fortunately mostly I've been craving fruit and reasonably healthy stuff - although I know I need to make sure I don't overdo the sugar, even the healthy kind. But I've ordered a maternity swimsuit and booked in for pg yoga so hopefully a combination of those activities will keep me reasonably fit and healthy.

Sorry you had a horrible day Evil, hope your co-workers start giving you more support and you get your pay sorted. Sending good vibes to all.

tomatoplantproject · 10/05/2012 08:25

Gosh stuntnun a slipped disc? That sounds sore. And apple your poor family going through all that. You just need to focus on your own little ray of hope.

Brockle · 10/05/2012 08:28

So sorry apple that is horrible. My Nanna and Grandad both had diabetes and Nanna got very sick. You can feel reaLly useless because there is nothing you can do but hope that his body starts doing what it should be doing. The best thing you can do is hound him to eat healthily and try not to make yourself ill with worry. Its a terrible disease but it can be controlled.

I wish I could say something to make you feel better but everything sounds so trite.

Focus on the plum sized baby inside you and stay strong.

Hi all,

sorry that you have a lot on your plate at the moment apple.

I need to get added to the list!
Iheartpasties dc2 (31) edd 6th Nov

I have got 6 close friends who are all expecting at a similar time to me! It's super exciting. the first time I was pregnant I didn't know anyone else who was pregnant. But this time it just feels exciting to share it with so many friends!

TitsalinaBumSquash · 10/05/2012 11:59

I had my 13 week scan yesterday, dates not changed so I am still.

TitsalinaBumSquash - DC3 - EDD 17/11/2012

My DP got a bit tearful at the scan watching what will be his first, then MIL wept over the photos. :)
Little one was being a bit of a wiggler and kept rolling onto his/hers side to show us it's bottom though the whole thing! :o

daisychain76 · 10/05/2012 12:03

Hi and welcome purple.

Sorry to hear that you have so much on apple and glad to read it was picked up early and you're getting treatment Stuntnun.

Waiting you are so right about not being able to win - last two pregnancies I was quite overweight, but I did eat a pretty balanced diet (just too much of it). This time round, I have lost weight through feeling permanently sick, but my diet is rubbish and I just laughed when the MW asked me if I was "eating a well-rounded diet with plenty of vitamins" (not unless sour lemon sweets count as part of your 5 a day). There is always something to feel guilty about.

I was quite surprised when my MW told me that at our local hospital they give mums to be with a BMI over 30 a free subscription to Slimming World. I wouldn't have thought trying to diet in pregnancy was such a good idea. I lost loads at Weight Watchers in between my two DCs so am already planning a return trip next year (think my gold badge thingy I earned will be stripped from me at the first weigh in).

daisychain76 · 10/05/2012 12:04

Congrats, Titsalina

horseylady · 10/05/2012 12:49

I thought they encouraged dieting in pregnancy and before now days. There are safe ways to lose excess fat you just shouldn't do it to the extreme. My friends lost nearly 2 stone while pregnant and feels fab.

ItalaItala · 10/05/2012 12:58

Good Afternoon

Tits Grin another good scan result.
apple sorry you are having such a tough time but don't forget to look after yourself.
stuntmum that sounds so painful, I hope you can get it under control now.
evil hope you are having a better day today and your mw app/ lunch with friend go well, are you at work at all today?
blonde they obviously didn't think you were a stupid fat cow otherwise they wouldn't have been so nice to your face, but enjoy having a cry about it Wink

Well I think I have come to terms with having a baby so soon (weeks will be down to single figures on monday Aaaaaaagh) My bump has suddenly popped and I am enjoying all the suprised comments "Are you pg/ when are you due?.... really so soon, I didn't realise" but I am not enjoying the aches and pains in the pelvis and old lady groaning and staggering when I first get up from bed and moving after sitting in the same position for a while Sad

The weather here is horrid but DH has taken the girls out so I am enjoying some me time.

ShellyBobbs · 10/05/2012 13:03

Apple The mind boggles sometimes when it comes to doctors. Hope there is some good news soon on the chemo front.

purplehippopotamus Welcome, I'm sure you can straggle us both but be warned that this thread mooooooooooves really fast Grin

Stunt Clucking Bell, a slipped disc, ouch! At least you got it before you turn into a round barrell Grin

Evil That's so crap. I just know I'm going to win the lottery before November, I even let hubby in on the secret last night when he asked how much maternity leave I'm going to have, 'a long time, I'm leaving after the big win'!

Daisy Slimming World can be done when pregnant and breastfeeding as it is not calorie controlled or food rationing, you can basically sit there stuffing your face all day long and still lose weight, the only difference for mums to be is they are allowed extra calcium for obvious reasons. My god I sound like a rep, I'm not I've just done it in the past and did a lot of reading about it (and stuffing my hole whilst on it).

Talking of getting a new car, we're going to have to get a 7 seater before the baba arrives otherwise hubby can't come with us on days out unless he follows in his car. We'll be needing a minibus soon!

I'm still feeling tired, is there no end to it? Confused

ValiumQueen · 10/05/2012 13:45

Slimming world is ok in pregnancy and I think it is great that a hospital is supporting it. Wish mine did. I was doing SW but with the sickness I need bread and that is very restricted on SW. I joined WW yesterday and did not declare pregnancy - I was not asked. It was free to join, free first week, and free cook book. I will not be going back as you are not allowed if pregnant, but I will be following the plan as it suits me better. I have allocated extra points for baby to be spent on calcium rich food. If I lose weight I will increase my points. I am aiming to maintain my weight or reduce gain as much as possible so post delivery will hopefully weigh less.

Just been looking at a city jogger select and it is LUSH!

NervousAt20 · 10/05/2012 16:50

tits and tiago congrats on more good scan results

Welcome purple :)

apple hope you and all your family are doing okay and get some good news your way soon :)

Just had my 20 weeks scan through the post and it's 5 weeks tomorrow!! So exciting! It's mad to think it was only a few weeks ago when we were all on here at like 7/8/9 weeks!

I popped to some baby place with MIL today just to be nosey and I was absolutly gob smacked! How expensive are prams?! Like £700 for one and £95 for a Moses basket and stand that looked really nasty. Haven't been anywhere else to look so am hoping this was just a ridiculously expensive place! The women there was lovely and as I didnt have a clue about what there was or what I wanted she spent a good 45min showing us different prams that do different things and have different seats and stuff so that aw really helpful, left with a bit of a head ache afterwards though ll

ShellyBobbs · 10/05/2012 17:09

Ha ha Nervous, pram shopping! Have a look on the internet if you've seen a pram you like, these big places tend to be very expensive or try a small independent shop, there is one near us and she is the most competitive dealer around.

I know, I was reading something before on one of the other threads and someone was 6 weeks, it doesn't seem long ago at all.

My bump has stuck right out at the bottom now. I can't sit comfortably with my legs right in front of me if I'm sat right up now, and curling right up in bed is a no. I now also have a legit reason to use my spare pillow and my bump hurts unless the pillow is under it when I'm on my side. On the bad side of all this, my friend said it's because I've got no stomach muscles left as this if my 4th Blush. I think they went after my first lol :)

applepieinthesky · 10/05/2012 17:16

I've still got no bump, I just look a bit chunky around the middle Sad
