So I POAS and oh, wow, it's positive!
From my online calculating, that puts the due date at Jan 20th, ish, 2013.

This will be my second, DS is currently 20 months old.

I'm so exciiiiiiiiiiited and I can't tell anyone yet! Also, I am looking for a new job and we're talking about buying a house. Crazy, moi?

Hi everyone. I have been on holiday for a wk (no Internet) & feel like I've missed loads. Sorry to hear we have had some drop off over the bank holiday

I'm 26, this will be dc1. I have scan today (8-9wks) so should have my edd later today hopefully.
What a rest being on holiday was, with no work DH and I could really think and talk about the pregnancy it was great however we came back to find out my mil had told nearly everyone so I'm furious. How do I tell her nicely it's not her place?

so yesterday i couldnt keep anything down and today im just a bit quesy ? And hate to say it but a bit crampy . hope all is ok but cant help worrying. Add me to list please , i seem to of dropped off , dc 3 age 32 scan to be aranged due 31.01.12

littlemiss that's terrible of your mil. I guess she was just over-excited but still. I think your DH should have a gentle word with her, as you need to set some ground rules before the baby comes along!

Ugh. I feel awful. Just drained and queasy. I'm normally constantly hungry but don't want to think about food at all. I didn't even enjoy my breakfast and that NEVER happens! I've got to go and get rained on all afternoon now as well. Brilliant....

Horrible night, was awake all night with cramps, no sleep and was sick quiet a bit. Feeling dreadful and have called in sick at work. Feel exhausted though and still can't sleep! Someone please tell me this gets better soon, i'm only 9weeks! On the plus side (hopefully) scan tomorrow at baby bond, praying that everything is okay xx

littlemiss - bad, naughty MIL! that is not fair as it is your news to tell. I agree with bugsy maybe DH can have a gentle word and get it sorted.

kim, octane and mummyp sorry to head you are are feeling rough. The good news is that most of the books seem to say that first trimester is the worst for these kind of symptoms for most people so hopefully you will all be feeling better soon! I am just shattered all the time and low level nausae but not sick (yet!).

Was "outed" again at dinner last night due to being unable to eat normal food. It is so strange trying to keep something so wonderful a secret (and I have a massive gob at the best of times) so the keeping it secret is not working so well for us!

Also have promised myself I am going to get back into my exercise routine next week as we have now been back from honeymoon for a few weeks and I don't want to put on all the weight I lost pre-wedding by virtue of pregnancy so trying to eat sensibly etc.

Also quick question - when did you find out your scan date? I am now 7 weeks along and desperate to have my scan asap. No problems but just want it to feel real and see the baby (she says welling up when typing!!).

My booking in appointment is on 28 June (9 weeks). I am being paranoid thinking that they won't have any dates at weeks 11-13 that will be available (knowing how streched London hospitals are)?

My date came through about a week after booking appointment so response was quick. Although not got scan til 22nd. They keep slots for dating nucal scans as they do know its the only time so don't panic. That said for ds1 I was 4 weeks out on my dates so had 12 week scan at 16 weeks so they can't do nucal scan, but they just do a blood test instead and so you will still be able to check for downs if that is the concern.

Squealy I just had my first midwife appointment at 7 weeks. She had to fax a request for the scan to the relevant hospital department, then they send you a letter with your scan date. It will be as close to 12 weeks as possible. If the date and time isn't convenient, then you can phone up and change it.

The midwife asked me if I wanted a nuchal scan and I wasn't sure what to do. I said yes in the end, as she said it was easier to change your mind if you didn't want it. Perhaps I am over thinking this, but my experience with the early scans has made me think that scans aren't always accurate, so you could be given a high chance of abnormalities when in fact everything is fine. Is everyone else having the nuchal scan?

....and yippee I finally had an early scan (9 weeks) as I'd been bleeding since week 5 (tmi) going from brown to red, spotting and full on bleeding.

Well, all is fine and I saw a little heartbeat racing away!
So brug - bleeding may be fine. They couldn't see any bleeding in the scan and said it can just be the cervix shedding blood. Fingers crossed for you x

mrsbugsy and pgmkt thanks for the reponses. I am sure it'll be grand and they will sort out at booking appointment. Just fretting as usual. mrsbugys I am also divided on the nuchal scan as not sure what we would do with the info if the risk of abnormalities was high. My DH is keen on going ahead will all tests offered as he would rather have the info.

littlemissimpatient I am so sorry to hear your news. Hope you have a chance to take care of yourself and take it easy for a little while.

what is a nuchal scan. shit i know nothing...

hmmm, i've been craving Chinese but having Batchelors Super Noodles tonight ( got to mix it up from just having Pot Noodle :) ) - but only chicken flavour will do. Just wish I wanted healthier foods - but never heard of anyone having salad cravings!

I'll keep this short and sweet as off on hols for a week but wanted to check in with everyone before I went.

Salt its to see how much risk of downs syndrome there is, by measuring the folds in baby's neck.They can then offer u some other test to see if your baby actually has downs (i think that's right) but it has a risk of miscarriage. I'm not having it done. U just ask for a dating scan instead

I'm finding this pregnancy a lot harder so far, I'm knackered, keep feeling sick (but not being sick) and everything hurts (self indulgent whinge). Still, I'm also off on holiday tomorrow - have a great week!

just to confirm that the nuchal scan does not carry a risk of miscarraige, sorry cartoon, i wasnt 100% sure from how you had phrased it that everyone would be certain of that (hope not to offend). You then have a blood test which then gives you a age risk factor and an individual one based on your bloods. You will then be told what risk level they think you are and you can then opt to have further test. The main one is an ammniosentysis (spelt wrong im sure). it is this test that carries a 1%(i think) risk of miscarriage, but will give you a definate yes or no.

My thoughts are to have the nuchal scan and then decide after that, most people are given the all clear so I'm not going to think past that, although I personally couldnt get rid of a baby (which is just a personal opinion) however my husband says there is no way he could cope with a downs baby. fingers crossed we dont have to have that conversation as it could be a difficult one.

Another quick question about the nuchal scan if that's ok?

How do they give you the results of the combined nuchal scan and blood test? At my booking in appointment my MW said that they give you a 1:something chance that you baby has downs and nobody is completely all clear (unless you have the amnio as you say PMGKT), but do they tell you what is a normal result and what is high and how? Do they tell you the results at your scan? I'm a bit worried that I won't understand the results and I'll freak out!

prickly with my ds I got the results through the post a few weeks after the scan. If it had been high risk, they phone within a couple of days. What high risk is depends on your trust classification, I think most are anything below 1:250. Mine with ds was something like 1:40000 or something equally ridiculous.

I will be having the nt again, there is a strong history of downs in my family, and if the result is high, will have the amnio.

The ammnio is wot I was thinking of with the mc risk oops sorry!
Hmmm surely they tell u wot is a high/low risk as well as the percentage. Just make sure u ask lots of questions when they tell u the result don't go away unsure.
To me knowing a percentage of risk would just cos me worry the whole time. I would rather not know. Plus I thought it was only something they really worry about if your wot they consider to be an older mum?
