Ebay is great. You can get decent brands for a few pounds. Brands like Panache, Freya, Fantasie etc are good for bigger sizes (I am normally a 32E so I already know about these brands).

The one I just bought was second hand so super cheap, normally I'd only buy new bras but I figure it is only going to fit me for a few weeks the rate they are growing!

SquealyB · 06/06/2012 14:35

cheap so sorry to hear your news too. Hope you are taking time to look after yourself.

I am terrified of my boobs getting so big the eclipse the sun. At the moment I am currently a 36 G and I cannot believe that they are going to get even bigger. They are going to be bigger than my head soon Shock.

On a more serious note, I am finding it very hard to sleep at the moment despite being exhuasted. As soon as my head hits the pillow I start worrying about getting to that magic 12 week mark then I fast froward to worries about the cost of childcare, how close I need to be to get into a decent school in my area and how the hell I am going to manage a stressful job and a baby! The bags under my eyes now have some luggage. Anyone else in this boat?

cartoonface · 06/06/2012 14:56

bugs I've lost a pound not much I know. I go from diarrhea to constipated. I can only manage small meals. I'm so tired as well. Really struggling today I want to sleep. I feel yuky to abit sick and headachey I'm also dead thirsty. My boobs haven't changed much they are just starting to be slightly sore.
Does anyone know if I can eat frozen scampi?

Brugmansia · 06/06/2012 15:41

Can't see why scampi would be a problem. Any shellfish is ok from what I can see so long as it's cooked properly.

cartoonface · 06/06/2012 16:01

thats wot i thought my dp is always worring about these things!!!

mrsbugsywugsy · 06/06/2012 16:03

Squealy I'm also not sleeping, then tired all day. I lie awake worrying so I don't think there is a physical cause.

My boobs are a torture to DP. He loves the way they look now but I can't bear for him to touch them.

Cartoon I go from feeling slightly sick to very hungry. Or both at the same time. And I'm drinking gallons of fizzy water.

Also having the glamorous digestive symptoms!

SquealyB · 06/06/2012 16:12

bugsy sorry to hear you are also riding the lack of sleep/exhaustion and worry roudabout. I hope it wil ease off a bit when I get to my scan.

On the DP/DH & the boobs front, the book I bought DH informs him that the boobs are (and I quote) "not for him right now but that a nice squeeze of the bum is allowed". I nearly wet myself laughing but he is adhering to this advice.

cartoonface · 06/06/2012 16:20

haha squealy wot book is this?

SquealyB · 06/06/2012 16:30

The book is "Pregnancy for Men - the Whole Nine Months" by Mark Woods. It covers all the sensible stuff they actually need to know BUT is written by a comedian so my DH can stand to read it. He was never going to read the nice pink serious Pregnancy Bible that is now sitting proudly on the bookshelf so there was just no point in hassling him to try and get him to do so.

He is actually reading (and he says enjoying) this book and keeps coming out with random things like the "bum not boob" statement and other gems like "yes I have been warned to expect you to be a bit of a lunatic for the time being but I have to be really nice to you anyway!". TBH I think he is pleased that he now know things like how long the first trimester is etc. what foods should be avoided etc.

mrsbugsywugsy · 06/06/2012 16:31

I think my DP needs a book too. He seems to think I shouldn't be tired yet 'as the baby's only tiny'. Can anyone suggest anything nice and simple with pictures? Grin

mrsbugsywugsy · 06/06/2012 16:32

aha, x-posted. I'll have a look at it Squealy

SquealyB · 06/06/2012 16:41

Bugsy - my DH was coming out with that line too pre-book Smile

Now I am being told to make sure I get enough rest on a daily basis and he corrected his best mate when he questioned why on earth I was pratically falling asleep on the couch around at theirs on the weekend as I was only just pregnant. The style of the book is a touch lads humour but seems to do the trick.

godzookey · 06/06/2012 19:54

Cartoon - haha, it is a huge effort but to be fair i only go once a week!

Cupcake and Bugs - I hear you about the bra, i need an industrial sized boulder holder!

Btw, so I had to tell at least one female friend so told my BFF today - after a meeting ( ironically she's now also become a client of mine!), feel better that I have a gal pal to witter onto about sore boobs etc as well as everyone here!

godzookey · 06/06/2012 19:57

oh and Squealy that book sounds greattt!! Am going to order a copy on Amazon pronto!

mrsbugsywugsy · 07/06/2012 10:17

Hello all. I had a scan today and it looks like good news. The baby had grown and there is now a heartbeat. It now measures 8.1mm which puts me at 6 weeks 5 days. Grin

My new EDD is 26th January.

Hope everyone else is well & thanks for all of your support over the last week Thanks

theboutiquemummy · 07/06/2012 10:35

mrsbugsywugsy that's fantastic news GrinGrinGrin

I'm getting my DH the book I think he'll like it.

I brought my first set of baby clothes yesterday had to do something to make it seem more real, was so excited to show DH but he wasn't happy wanted us to do it together Blush that's me told then lol x

On the plus side had chance to look at the maternity ranges I need 16+

DP range in shop was rubbish
Marks couldn't find it !!
H&M was reasonably priced
New Look good selection cheap n some on sale
Mothercare fogey n expensive

Any other places

mrsbugsywugsy · 07/06/2012 10:50

Thought I would update the list as I am too dazed to do anything else Smile

LilBlondePessimist · 07/06/2012 10:57

Debenhams is good for smart/work clothes, but new look was always my fave. Asda has quite cheap stuff but not fantastic quality. Glad to hear your scan is good news! :)

SquealyB · 07/06/2012 11:03

bugsy that is such brilliant news! Grin

boutiquemummy , clearly a lady after my own heart. I cannot wait to so some shopping but desperately resisting the urge.

On plus size materinity, I can add that (from current research):

Next do some nice stuff, reasonably priced (mostly online).

Simply Be have some OK stuff but a bit frumpy.

Loving New Looks stuff that is online.

mrsbugsywugsy · 07/06/2012 11:10

I will try to resist maternity shopping for now. I am an apple shape and often wear tops which are loose on my belly, so hopefully I should be able to get away with it for a little while. I never throw away clothes and have some jeans from when I was a size bigger lurking in the back of my wardrobe.

I do however need to redecorate my spare room as a nursery Smile

Squealy I've ordered the book too, Amazon are going to wonder what has caused the rush.

SquealyB · 07/06/2012 11:38

I wonder if I could convince Amazon to part with a small commission Wink.

I am in a bit of pickle clothes wise. Pre-pregnancy I had been on a very strict pre-wedding diet [We just got married on 28th April] and so had chucked all my bigger clothes. My nice new clothes are now a bit snug around my bloated tummy! At the moment I am living in stretchy things but have limited smart work clothes that accomdate my gas bump. I wish I could say in good conscience that it was baby but I would be deluding myself!!

mrsbugsywugsy · 07/06/2012 11:41

Do you have any friends who are slightly larger than you or have recently been pregnant? If so maybe you could beg / borrow a few things? Failing that, ebay and charity shops are your friends.

octanegirl · 07/06/2012 12:13

Brugmansia · 07/06/2012 12:57

I'm doing ok at the moment. Only very slight spotting since the weekend. I'm hoping it's all fine and taking the view that there's nothing I can do right now anyway. Sickness has subsided but my breasts are still agony.

I've been having clothes quandaries too. It seems far too premature to buy anything specifically maternity but it's frustrating not being able to buy any nice new summer clothes either. I've also put on a bit of weight since last summer so some of the clothes I already have are a bit snug. I've managed to get a skirt and new top which are non-maternity but should work well over a small growing bump.
