Jan 2013 club: "Oh, wow, it's positive!"

So I POAS and oh, wow, it's positive!
From my online calculating, that puts the due date at Jan 20th, ish, 2013.

This will be my second, DS is currently 20 months old.

I'm so exciiiiiiiiiiited and I can't tell anyone yet! Also, I am looking for a new job and we're talking about buying a house. Crazy, moi?

Bionic I am feeling much calmer today, thanks. I have realised that no one can tell me whether it will be OK or not, so I just have to wait it out.

I am feeling sicker every day, mostly if I have a very empty stomach, nibbling on biscuits seems to help. Boobs still huge and sore, burping all the time, and to top everything off I have a massive coldsore

Pessimist mine was a transvaginal scan too, they tried through my stomach but couldn't see anything

bionic oh yes I could cry at anything (I am not a crying sort of person normally!). As an example, DH had to dispose of a massive spider behind the sofa the other night. I then cried on two separate occasions....for the spider...

Really don't worry re side effects. I have background nausea but no sore boobs at all which worried me a bit but had early scan and all fine. You can have no side effects at all initially and it means nothing. The only time it meant something for me was with my mc where I also had a lot of bleeding, cramps, and all the symptoms i did have very suddenly disappeared. So it's usually a combination of things that's a worry.

bugsy that's great! Any symptoms actually getting stronger is a great sign (even if they're not pleasant ones!). But in case that worries anyone else - symptoms don't have to get stronger! Won't it be great when we're all past the 12 ish week scan time!!

Hi everyone, nice to see some new faces :)

No news to report here, definitely having good days and bad days sickness wise. Today is a good day! Refreshers seem to help (those fizzy sweets), strangely ... and ice lollies. I've been having one every morning on my way to work .

I'm still horribly paranoid, 21/6 can't come soon enough so I can see little cupcake again and know everything is ok. Swinging wildly between optimism and pessimism - very like I was with DS! I'm definitely no more relaxed with this pregnancy, if anything, I'm more worried as I can't believe we can be lucky twice, which I know is silly.

Should we update the stats to include scan dates? I think we should maybe start a new one, as I know a few people have sadly left :( I'll start off?

mrsbugsy I have a coldsore too, I'm guessing it's due to lowered immune system. I'm also blaming that for this cold that I've got that's been hanging around for 2 weeks now! I really admire your attitude re:waiting it out, that's what I keep trying to tell myself. Still doesn't stop me worrying though. (As an aside I worked in paediatric pathology for a few years so have seen so much sadness - I think it's a miracle anyone has a baby at all, but I know that's just my skewed perception. )

Birdies Thank goodness it's not just me then! I am not normally a crier either, I think that's why they sent me home from work!

BuntyCollocks "swinging wildly between optimism and pessimism" describes me perfectly!

Bunty- happy birthday for tomorrow!!

I'm still rather in limbo. I haste the spotting 2 nights ago, last night there was a but more. It's been fine all day but I noticed a but when I wiped just now. I'm trying to put myself in a 'bugsy' frame of mind- no one knows what's happening and I just have to wait it out.

On the plus side, in reality, there's only been a tiny bit of brown blood loss and midwife suggested that this was perfectly normal.

On the negative side I have a dull funny ache- sort of period like. But it could just be a stretching uterus- who knows.

Bionic- I am also hugely emotional, have a site throat and a mouth ulcer. I'm totally exhausted (though job not easy at the mo- might have nothing to do with pregnancy), my boobs are sore (I keep poking them to check!) no nausea or sickness though. Where's my morning sickness! I'd feel reassured by just a little bit!!

Chraptarnishedglitter- you mentioned you'd been spotting for 24 days- how heavy has it been?

Oh dear, slack mother confession. I am going to have to scroll up the page in a minute to check what my due date is. Not only that I haven't sorted out doctor/midwife stuff yet

I was a paranoid, worried wreck with DS1 and I have swung the other way with this one. Poor neglected second child.

Had a lovely chat with my mw this morning. She says in view of my history her team are unlikely to support a home birth (thought I was pushing my luck really), but I might get a private midwife to agree. Can't afford the £££ to do that, so if it's all normal then it'll be a VBA2C, hopefully in the hospital pool. That's if this one is the right way up!

Will get an appointment date with the consultant sent with my scan date apparently. Have decided to go for the screening tests this time, didn't with the other two but I'm older this time, and because this one is a surprise (to say the least!) we want to be as prepared as possible.

Wishful I know a few people who've had bleeding around the time their period is due, one the whole way through her pregnancy. Hopefully it's nowt to worry about x

Silversixpence I don't know if this will help at all but I've just done a week-long walk (14-20 miles per day) in the UK. It wasn't half as hot (or probably as remote) as where you're thinking of going but it was absolutely fine. I was way more tired than usual, but I think the fresh air made me feel less sick.

Has anyone else had trouble getting hold of the midwives? You get in touch with them direct where I am and I have called and left messages three times in the last two weeks and not even had confirmation that they have received them. I'm 7 weeks so starting to worry they won't get the scan booked in! :(

Wish I had £££ - I'd be paying for private scans every week!

We're heading up to Scotland to visit our families for the long weekend: can't wait! A chance to sleep whilst the granny's do the night feeds! (oh - and lovely to see everyone as well, of course!)

Hi again, hope everyone is doing well. Well, we had a look at the cd of images of my scan, which was exciting in one way, and a bit of a let down in another, because all it actually showed was an empty circle. DH is being very matter of fact, saying if it's not meant to be, then we will just try again. Really hope it doesn't come to that.

I have had a transvaginal scan before- it was more being asked to insert the probe myself which made me uncomfortable.

Anyway, here is the list with me added (hope its ok, as doing it on my phone).
