Hello all!

I'd like to join please. Expecting DC2 in January - don't have official due date from doctor yet but it's around 28th Jan (acc. to MN due date predictor!)

I have one DD who is 22 months. This current pregnancy was planned, but happened very quickly and is still very overwhelming!

Symptoms so far have been mild tiredness, mildly sore feet, occasional nausea (this will probably intensify pretty soon!) and a fat some bloating around my tummy (hoping it's not just fat...)

I suffered pre-eclampsia towards the end of my last pregnancy (37 wks) so will be keeping a close eye - as I hope will health care professionals.

xx

cartoonface · 29/05/2012 17:37

wishful id gone for my first scan I thought I was 10/11wks but it measured at what they'd expect for 5/6. I only just found out that once its died it shrinks at the same rate it would've grown so I'm not really sure exactly when it died. I'd had some spotting but doc told me not to worry.
I've not had any spotting so far this time but I'm making sure I get an early scan

CraftyGirly · 29/05/2012 17:50

hi all! had my booking in appointment today, took ages as she was filling out so much paperwork! tried to take my blood 3 times during appointment, but apparently I dont have any as she couldnt get any out! maybe I'm having a baby vampire Wink lol. so have to go to blood bank to have it taken now, but I'm going to give my poor bruised arms a few days to recover first!

officially due 14th Jan, I'm also being referred to a consultant as I have gynae problems (its a miracle I'm even pg really!) and had an op in November, which did improve things but not to 100% really. I'm terrified that giving birth will take me back to square 1 so she's referred me back to consultant.

now apparently just to wait for appointments through the post, fun! I wont be seeing her again till I'm 20 weeks, seems like a long time!

hope everyones doing ok! :) no bad symptoms here really, just very sore boobs and a touch of nausea!

CraftyGirly · 29/05/2012 17:52

oh - forgot to add - got breathalyzed by the midwife!! Grin
apparently it's something they have to do to everyone now to check their carbon monoxide levels??!! it was pretty funny lol

Birdies · 29/05/2012 17:58

mrsbugsy I also thought not seeing a heartbeat at 6 weeks was the norm and your sonographer must see that all the time, hence not looking worried. Hope you're feeling ok anyway.

lula wow twins! That's great!!

squealy I couldn't help but laugh and answer the "what language would you like the midwives to communicate with you in?" with "Japanese" hehe. lilblonde - lol! I actually asked her whether she would throw me out if i was sat there chewing tobacco and spitting it out in the corner of the room! Can't imagine a pregnant woman chewing tobacco but maybe there are loads of them?!

Birdies · 29/05/2012 18:01

Ps craftygirly - breathalyzed?! That's so bizarre, what will they think of next!!

Pascha · 29/05/2012 18:15

LilBlondePessimist It might not dry up completely, or your baby might dry-nurse until your colostrum starts coming back in. Everyone is slightly different. Have you had a look at Kellymom?

Pascha · 29/05/2012 18:24

SquealyB I am disbelieving that I am truly pregnant til I see it on the scan. I was the same last time. We won't be announcing anything til we have confirmation. It's my worst nightmare for the sonographer to say I'm not pregnant and never have been and it was all in my mind. Confused

CraftyGirly · 29/05/2012 18:26

lol Birdies maybe she thought secretly I was a closet alcoholic Grin

mrsbugsywugsy · 29/05/2012 18:27

breathalyzed crafty - are you sure they don't suspect you're hitting the gin? Wink

Birdies I got such different impressions from the sonographer and the doctor, I am just hoping that the sonographer sees so many scans she must know what she is talking about, whereas the doctor seemed to be a trainee

I'm feeling up and down to be honest, but really grateful for everyone's support Thanks

I'm also aware that some people have been through this more than once, or have been TTC for long periods, which must make it so much harder, so trying not to feel too sorry for myself.

I have a planned work trip to London tomorrow and have decided to go to take my mind off things, despite my boss saying I didn't have to

salt1 · 29/05/2012 18:36

crafty it think the breathalizer is to check for secret smokers!!

Birdies · 29/05/2012 19:08

Maybe she was checking you'd answered the "Do you chew tobacco" question correctly!!

bugsy that sounds like a great idea. Distraction should help and hopefully it won't be long until you get more positive news.

Ps anyone else eating loads? I just seem to be hungry most of the time and want bread and olives constantly. Better than chocolate I spose. Also, despite that, I haven't put on much weight, but I look about 3 months pregnant! They do say you can show earlier with the second but am surprised by how much - good job I'm still on mat leave so can hide away....any other 2nd time+ mums showing already?

COCKadoodledooo · 29/05/2012 19:27

Pascha me too! The outlaws are down this weekend and dh wants to tell them but I don't until I've actually seen there's something in there. Maybe I'll feel differently, like it's more real, when I've had my booking in on Thursday.

COCKadoodledooo · 29/05/2012 19:28

Aw crap. Forgot to nc.

wishfulthinking1 · 29/05/2012 19:29

:-( just been to the loo and had some brown discharge (tmi- sorry!) really worried and upset- hoping its nothing to worry about. This pregnancy business is so traumatic- I just want to enjoy it!!
X

Pascha · 29/05/2012 19:44

S'alright, COCK your secret's safe with us Wink I think I am pregnant, but I don't believe it.

Pascha · 29/05/2012 19:45

Fingers crossed for you wishful. Early pregnancy sucks really, doesn't it?

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 29/05/2012 19:54

Wow, busy day today!!

Lula WOW!! That's amazing, massive congratulations!

Bugsy so sorry to hear it's been a bit of a head-mess day. I'm obviously no expert but since most early scan advice seems to recommend 8 weeks or 7 at a push I'm surprised the doc expected a heartbeat. Good that the sonographer wasn't worried - something to take comfort from.

Crafty - your poor arms!!! People will wonder what's happened to you!

wishful Hugs. I'm a fully paid up member of the hoping-blood-is-ok club.

Today I've felt all sorts of things in my tum - queasiness, a sort of stretching, lurchiness, tightness, stitch... I think I need to find some new words to describe it all!!

MarasmeAbsolu · 29/05/2012 20:00

Congrats Lula - I have always secretly dreamed of having twins... lucky you! DH on the other hand, would freak out

redjumper · 29/05/2012 21:04

Mrsbugsy - I think your interpretation about things is right. A junior obstetric doctor would not be likely to know much about embryo measurements and dating, whereas this is the sonographers job. Here's a link to a dating chart, but even this only starts at 5mm length. It probably means that on the date of the scan you were just under 6 weeks.

www.bmus.org/policies-guides/23-17-3-161_ultBMUS.pdf
Look for the chart on CRL and under the 50th centile column, appendix 1, table 1.

I really hope the next scan goes well for you.

pmgkt · 29/05/2012 21:57

Birdies - i am with you on that one. i feel huge and only 8 +5. i wish i had made more effort after the last one to lose more weight but hindsight is wonderful. I was fed up with tight trouser tummy pain today so I have relented and put on a pair of maternity trousers and felt sooooo much better already so just go with the flow.

i cant believe it isnt baby though, i cant eat big meals and am throwing away half my tea most nights, and i can just about get a sandwich down at lunch time but the crust make me feel really sick, i have to rip them off before I can eat the sandwich, and i usually eat them.

Norfolkinway · 30/05/2012 04:36

So yet again lurking at a god awful hour, stupid hormones!

Sorry to hear about all the bad experiences at the moment, I'll have my fingers crossed for you!

And is that our first set out twins? Wow!! I'm really paranoid that un carrying twins but If I am it's twice the joy!

Thanks everyone on the advice about midwife, I'll start writing my witty answers down! Is it normal to take the other half to your booking in appointment? He wants to come so I'm taking him!

wishfulthinking1 · 30/05/2012 06:52

Morning all-
Couldn't sleep with worry last night- and have a really sore throat this morning- feeling really sorry for myself!!

The brown blood didn't last long- I went to the loo a couple of times and there was no brown. I put a panty liner on which is clean this morning too. I have these tummy pains again- I don't think its cramping- but it's so upsetting!

Should I see the dr / call the midwife to let them know? My midwife booking in appointment isn't until I'm ten weeks- could I have an early scan before my booking in? Is brown blood a reason for an early scan or do you only need one if you be had red blood?

Really sorry for all these depressing questions- am do glad in on here- no one in real life knows so have no one to talk to. DF is being great- really sweet and supportive but he's trying to be quite grounded in a 'if it's not meant to be then its not meant to be but we'll have a baby someday' which is definitely the right way to be.

Harrumph- come on baby! Sit tight please!! X
