Well just seen doc and she still wants to induce - because of protein in urine. She even wants to do it today. Alternative is to up bp tablets.

Don't know what to do!

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 15/04/2012 12:27

spanner what have they said about CS? Is DH there with you?

Agamumnon · 15/04/2012 12:40

Hello folks :) I was on your first thread but got a bit distracted Blush thought I'd come back and check in on the final stretch.

HUGE congratulations for all the babies. Fliss, I am in awe of your big lad.

I'm 40+5 and pretty grumpy. No real encouraging signs bar a bit of pant snot and a complete squawking meltdown at DH yesterday. Ahem.

I've got a shitty cocktail of major SPD and the tail end of bronchitis so the last stage of pregnancy is not being kind to me. Just in case I wasn't in enough discomfort, I chopped the top of my thumb off while cooking dinner last night. ARGH!

Sending good vibes to all those on the verge!

Cutelittlecatlover · 15/04/2012 12:45

Wow Fliss, well done! I hope you have a speedy recovery and enjoy your snuggles with that lovely big boy.

Spanner Sad I wish I knew what to say! Whatever you decide at least the end is in sight now and there's a lovely baby waiting to meet you at the end.

Sorry for my meltdown this morning Blush I seem to wake up in floods of tears every day atm, feeling very sorry for myself! Unfortunately I have a very bad relationship with my mum and she is the last person I would ask for help, not that she would agree to do it anyway so when dh goes back to work Tuesday it will just be me and ds and fingers crossed the baby too. I think I will just have to make sure all visitors pitch in and help out and take whatever shortcuts I can. It will be fine really! Right baby Cute, eviction notice has been served now out you come!

Bearcrumble · 15/04/2012 12:47

Congrats, Fliss - what a whopper! Well done you.

Spanner So sorry about the pre eclampsia. Can you have an internal exam to see if induction would work easily (ie if your cervix is already opening) and if it's not favourable just insist on a caesarian.

aga Ow! Your poor thumb/pelvis/chest.

spannermary · 15/04/2012 12:57

Ah...'just insist on a caesarean'! I wish. This hospital is proud of its low CS rate and the doc says she can't justify it. What I hope to do is have an examination/sweep and see if cervix is changing at all & then see if upping the bp tablets helps. But she's now getting me concerned that I might be making things more complicated for myself.

So it's really difficult. DH is at the supermarket at the mo but will be here any minute so we can have a chat then. He's my rock, and I cope so much better when he's here to help remind me to breathe. Which is something I keep forgetting to do!

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 15/04/2012 13:02

As Fliss would be saying if she weren't otherwise occupied, they can't make you have an induction. Plus it's in the NICE guidelines that if you want a CS you are perfectly entitled to one, especially with bloody good reasoning!! Angry

Bananna1 · 15/04/2012 13:27

Oh Spanner, how awful to have to make all these difficult decisions. Hope DH has arrived and together you can make decisions and stay strong - but baby really could be here soon :)

Congratulations to both Hayley and Fliss on your baby boys. Wow, wow, wow, wow Fliss!!! OMG, how did you dooooo that! Just amazing. Hope you're home now if not very, very soon.

And Cute I'm not surprised you're in meltdown - not only very overdue but the timing pressures of DH's job and a non-supportive mum. I'm sorry :(

I know about the mum bit - my mum has just left to go on holiday, they'll be away on my due date. She didn't wish me luck, say she wished she were staying here in case I have baby, or wait to have it until she gets back. Nothing. Just that I need a pressure cooker to make my life easier - actually, no, mum - I need a mum who helps and supports me!!

Anyway ladies, let's all try and relax and enjoy a peaceful Sunday while we can - or spend it snuggling up to our new additions :)

spannermary · 15/04/2012 14:01

DH currently scouring NICE - we feel a bit pressured and NICE is quite reassuring. Not sure when the doc is coming back.

VintageNancy · 15/04/2012 15:34

Just popped on to see if any news from Fliss and if I hadn't been lying down already I think I'd have fallen over!! Wow! That is incredible. Grin Congratulations!

Congrats to Hayley too. Grin

Thinking of you Spanner.

Hope to catch up properly soon. I have a snuggly sleepy lady on my chest right now and a snoring husband next to me!

mummylivmade · 15/04/2012 18:05

Big congratulations to hayley and Fliss glad all is well hope your both recovering well.

thepuddingchef · 15/04/2012 19:23

congrats to all the new mummies......esp to Fliss wow that is a healthy weight! I think if the scans are to be believed I will be having a similar size baby....am totally petrified of the possible problems that could occur Sad

JambalayaCodfishPie · 15/04/2012 19:32

Anybody else sick to the back teeth of their DP?

Mine has spent the weekend doing f-all except make mess.

He wants me to rest but doesn't want to do the stuff that needs doing - like filling/emptying the dishwasher and unloading the washing. Silly silly things but it's doing my head in.

He thinks because he's in my face every 10 minutes asking if I'm ok, that's being supportive - nope, it's just really really annoying!!

Roll on tomorrow when he'll be at work!!

Rant over, I promise. Grin

LaTristesse · 15/04/2012 19:36

I'm with you Jambalaya, I'm so with you. Not even going to go into detail as it makes me really cross and upset, and that's not great on top of all these hormones!

JambalayaCodfishPie · 15/04/2012 19:44

Oh, and to top it off, just discovered that he drank my Shloer. Which was a birthday present. From him?!?!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaarggggggggh!!!!!!!

mummylivmade · 15/04/2012 20:04

Oh I'm with you on that one jam and la tris I have turned into an emotional wreck this afternoon still weeping on and off now!! Must be bb, DP goes back to work tomorrow after a massive crap 3 days off to help me, I'm just feeling totally overwhelmed about having 3 children to look after! I don't know why I didn't think of that before! Dp says "oh well you will just have to get on with it" yeah thanks for that wanker. He says you can call your mum or my mum but I don't think he understands it's him we want around! Luckily Emilia is a saint compared to when her sisters were both newborns so it's just a case of getting dd1 back to school as I'm sure it's been quite a boring Easter break for her really with a winging wobberly pregnant mum and now a mum who seems to have a baby clamped to the breast most of the day!! Dd2 has decided to potty train herself this week so that's proving to be slightly stressful but I suppose I should encourage it really. Oh well I do feel better for that rant!

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 15/04/2012 22:29

Ahh, now this is interesting... Grin
According to the MN due date calculator, DS was 6 days late... 6 days late for DS2, using the same calculator will be... tomorrow... Grin

spannermary · 15/04/2012 22:36

I like the sound of that, Beyond!

So I'm overnight in hospital again - being monitored again - but have my own room this time - hurrah!

Had a bit of a breakdown in front of mw who came in to take bp, and she has suggested I see consultant tomorrow; not just registrar, to discuss my mental health concerns. Then she took my bp, which was 135:95 - lowest it's been in a while.

My head is a mess. Don't want to harm my baby (or myself) and feel like I'm putting amazing DH through it but also really don't want induction.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 15/04/2012 22:47

Yay, monitored is good!! Especially if your BP is down again now - maybe you just need some proper bed rest til baby comes (of his own accord!!), have you been trying to get a lot done at home??

oltob · 15/04/2012 22:57

hi spanner from the team lazy arse thread, sorry to hear you're being put through the mill. hoping they agree to your CS tomorrow, stick to your guns and keep talking to them. Keeping everything crossed for you.
Congrats to flisspaps btw (and all you other April mums) I am in awe.

Nordicmom · 15/04/2012 23:51
