Lovely news Emsgale, Congratulations :) Thanks. Hope you are both doing well.

Good luck Spanner, fingers crossed it all happens naturally today, before the consultant gets to you!!

Bunsouttheoven · 16/04/2012 09:46

Congratulations emsgale well doneSmile

So keeping my fingers crossed for you spanner that baby is coming of his/own accord. Hang in there there are snuggles to come.

notso · 16/04/2012 10:25

Congratulations emsgale pretty names Smile

Spanner really hope baby spanner is being a good boy and deciding to come now of his own accord.

Weeeell, another dull day in the notso house, 38+6 today.
DH has taken DC out for a lovely fun day but far too much waddling involved for me to go Sad.
In any case Argos have me under house arrest with their delivery time slot of 7am-8pm. I said to the woman that that was a all day not a time slot, and she said "Oh just go out they'll leave it in the front garden"
I pointed out the pavement is my front garden, and she said "Ah well you won't want to be going far in your condition anyway."

I shall be lurking around here most of the day I think.

JambalayaCodfishPie · 16/04/2012 10:40

Congratulations Emsgale!!

40 + 5 here. Bored bored bored. Going to Coop to get lunch get out of the bloody house

When will this baby bloody arrive?!

Congrats emsgale! Another beautiful name

thepuddingchef · 16/04/2012 10:56

congrats emsgale gorgeous names.

Cutelittlecatlover · 16/04/2012 11:05

Congratulations Emsgale!

Spanner good luck, that all sounds very encouraging.

I'm just off to my consultant appointment, 40+12 now and still desperate to avoid induction! I had another twingey night and some more show with a tiny bit of blood so I'm hoping if I can blag another sweep that should do it. I'm not considering induction until Friday at least. Dh starts his new job tomorrow so that would be a very inconvenient day to go into labour - hint hint baby!

Good luck to all those still waiting, here's hoping today brings lots more babies!

notso · 16/04/2012 11:15

Good luck for appointment Cute.

I have eaten too many Pringles and now feel sick and bad. Really want to get in bed but don't want to miss Argosman, might put the baby monitor in the hall and a knock loudly sign on the door.

spannermary · 16/04/2012 11:18

Well they still want to induce me. Doc says there's protein in wee. Going to ask consultant about CS but she says very unlikely. DH mentioned NICE guidelines but didn't seem to make much difference.

spannermary · 16/04/2012 11:19

Am I being an idiot? Maybe I should just let them - but the thought of it has brought back panic attacks that I haven't had for 5 years.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 16/04/2012 11:21

Good luck for your appt cute
And fingers crossed for u spanner

Still nothing here... 40+11 today...

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 16/04/2012 11:25

Oh no, x posts! :(
Why are they saying they won't consider cs? And didn't someone say induction can raise bp? What do they say about that in ur situation?
If u r phobic about it, it doesn't matter how irrational some random person thinks u are being Angry

notso · 16/04/2012 11:32

spanner you are not being an idiot, you need to be relaxed for labour, not having panic attacks.
Have you had an assessment to say how favourable you will be for induction?
If you are stable and being monitored and baby is happy, then don't let them pressure you.

Are you still having periody pains?

balkanscot · 16/04/2012 11:37

Emsgale, Fliss, justhayley and everyone else I may have forgotten in the past couple of days - well done and congratulations! :)

Officially I am 40 weeks tomorrow (EDD), don't think anything will happen, darn, only capable of sitting on the sofa feeling very sorry for myself. I have a MW appointment on Friday, they may do a membrane sweep then as it is my 1st baby. I am up for anything that will/may coax him out.

Cute, good luck with your appt. I always read your name as CUTICLElover, don't know why.

Spanner, I hope things work out for you. Panic attacks are dreadful, especially if they come back unexpectedly - I have had them on and off for the past 15 years (luckily only one or two during pregnancy).

Bunsouttheoven · 16/04/2012 12:36

spanner keep insisting with the consultant if it is what you want. Don't be polite, don't be patronised it is your life, your body. Ask them why they are not conforming with NICE guidelines which state that:

For women requesting a CS, if after discussion and offer of support (including perinatal mental health support for women with anxiety about childbirth), a vaginal birth is still not an acceptable option, offer a planned CS. [new 2011]
An obstetrician unwilling to perform a CS should refer the woman to an obstetrician who will carry out the CS. [new 2011]

marshmallowpies · 16/04/2012 12:39

Congratulations to Fliss and Emsgale & anyone else I missed over the weekend...

Spanner and Cute am keeping my fingers crossed things happen for you soon! The more I've read, the more I feel I want to avoid induction at all costs. EDD for me is Wednesday so still quite a bit of hanging around to be done here before anyone starts pressuring me to decide anything...but I hope I can hold firm!

spannermary · 16/04/2012 14:03

Thanks for guideline quotes, buns. Now waiting for mental health people to assess me. Consultant 'not able' to offer CS on obstetric grounds but will listen if mental health people say so.

If not, and my 24h urine test comes back with protein then I guess I've run out of options. Don't want to harm baby.

Any time anyone says 'induction' I burst into tears and lose ability to form sentences. Feel I've already failed as a mum by being so phobic. Not sure I'd even physically be capable of accepting pessary, IYKWIM.

But I may have no choice.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 16/04/2012 14:10

Have you been examined yet today spanner? Just wondering if they might want to skip straight to ARM rather than pessary, if you are at all dilated? Would you be happier with that, or do you not want any sort of induction-type-thing?

Bearcrumble · 16/04/2012 15:00

No no, Spanner you have not failed as anything. You want what's right for you and your baby. Are you on any BP meds? Hopefully you'll get your caesarian on mental health grounds. Otherwise what Beyond says - if things are favourable you could go just by having your waters broken rather than having drugs to speed up labour. Good luck and lots of hugs (even though you're not supposed to send hugs on mumsnet).

Congrats Emsgale - Lola is a gorgeous name.

Cutelittlecatlover - Good luck at your appointment. Hope you get another sweep.

notso · 16/04/2012 15:14

spanner hope your MH assessment goes in favour of CS.
Whatever happens you are certainly not a failure.
I think you are incredibly brave and strong to be able to have got this far without agreeing to being induced.

Nordicmom · 16/04/2012 15:34

Congrats emsgale

Bananna1 · 16/04/2012 15:39

Good luck Spanner, hope you get the CS you deserve. Why they wouldn't choose this as the right option for you I don't know. Very short-sighted IMO.

I've just been told baby has turned back to back :( Lots of all-fours for me then. And as I'm over 40, they don't want to let me go more than a week overdue, so will start the sweeps at 40+2.

Bananna1 · 16/04/2012 15:41

Over 40 years old that is, not weeks pregnant!

Flisspaps · 16/04/2012 15:42

Back home, no signal on PN ward but had one in the recovery room Hmm

Feel great, tired but not as bad as with DD. No transfusion, just been packed off with 2 boxes of iron tablets (had 9 boxes for DD!)

DS is lovely, absolute double of his sister, just waiting for her to come home now to meet him properly (hospital visit yesterday wasn't great, she was climbing all over my bed and nearly took my catheter out, and was more interested in the curtains around the other bays and crawling under chairs Blush Managed to sleep from 2am - 7am today, first sleep since 3.30 on Sat morning - feel more human now! Will catch up when I can work out my arse from my elbow x

notso · 16/04/2012 15:59

Pleased your home and well Fliss, it's a lovely feeling to bringing a new baby home from the hospital, I feel all fuzzy just thinking about it.

Bananna1 hope baby moves back again.

I am down for a sweep on DDay a week tomorrow, still not sure whether to have it or not though.
