I can't believe loads of you have had your babies, that I've missed well dine everyone! And I bet your glad your little boy is here flisspap

All my sitches have gone now, and don't have any pain down there, its been 3 weeks, I found lots of warm baths help I had two a day. Bleeding a lot less now nearly stopped....

Gonna stop the pain killing soon, but boobs are still sore with the feeding.

can't wait to hear about babies, Lyra is 2 weeks old now :-D

Good luck with the us trip nordic

Tinwe · 19/04/2012 22:02

Thanks when :) DD seemed to enjoy her birthday, although appeared puzzled through most of it! Shame I wasn't up to full effort today though, but MIL came for the day and we managed between us.

Advice please ladies re labour - although this is my second baby DDs labour was obvious as started with my waters breaking and quickly progressed, this time I'm symptom spotting as I'm 40+4. DD was back to back too so all my contractions were in my back/hip bones, not like I'd expected at all!

This time baby has been bobbing in and out of my pelvis for ages as evidenced by my retractible belly button and moving bump. Tonight bump is low, grinding pains on cervix, BH tightenings, back ache and belly button out - nothing new. Difference is I've got lots of period type pains which aren't easing. Not obviously regular but just constant and sometimes worse than at other times. Is this the start of something or just a common overdue symptom? DH is asking me and I've no idea!

Cutelittlecatlover · 19/04/2012 22:15

Good luck Beyond!

Fliss, I've been home alone with my two in the day and its not as bad as you might think. You just need to be quite well organised which is easier said than done. Clothes out the night before, shower before dh leaves, snacks prepared in advance etc. Do whatever you need to do to get through the day, cbeebies is your friend!

Dd finally has a name! She's called Seren and she's 7lb 8oz. I still can't believe she's here after such a long wait!

WhenDoISleep · 19/04/2012 22:17

Glad DD's birthday went well Tinwe. Symptoms do sound like they maybe early labour - I would say try to get some sleep if you can, maybe some paracetamol to help relieve the pain slightly to help with getting rest and see how things delvelop overnight. It could be that things really kick off or alternatively you maybe in for a long latent stage over the next few days, so you don't want to get too exhausted.

JambalayaCodfishPie · 20/04/2012 07:19

What a beautiful name Cutelittlecatlover!

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 20/04/2012 13:03

Time for a little whinge...
Contracting nicely and 2-3cm dilated, so they will do ARM. But I have to wait til.there is space on the labour ward. Surely it was either important that I have to have this baby ASAP, or there was no need to induce me...? Hmm

marshmallowpies · 20/04/2012 15:11

Ugh...not feeling too good today. Wide awake this morning between 4.30-6.30am and managed to sleep a bit more between 7 and 9, but feeling totally groggy and drained (a bit as if I'm on the verge of 'getting ill', don't feel like eating anything, just want to curl up on sofa and sleep).

Wonder if this is my body getting ready to kick off into labour....but can't help feeling that being drained and exhausted is not the best way to go into labour! Or is it just the cumulative effect of several nights insomnia?

I'm now 40+2 and have an antenatal appointment at the hospital on Monday, will probably be offered a sweep then, I imagine. Oh I so badly want it to all start before then, not be hanging around for another 2 days, but it doesn't seem very hopeful.

Tinwe and Beyond, hope things get going properly for both of you soon as well.

Bananna1 · 20/04/2012 15:38

I know what you mean about feeling completely exhausted and drained Marshmallow, I am too. I too am having difficulty sleeping and it is completely messing with my energy levels. I can't even get the energy to cook dinner in the evening, so how I am going to cope with labour I don't know!
Last night had draggy period pains and an achy groin and tops of my legs, so thought perhaps that was it. But it wasn't!

40 weeks tomorrow - and have just found out today that we need to have the house re-wired next week (means pulling up the carpets and floor boards) as have really old, dodgy wiring, and the electrician won't give a certificate to pass the loft for planning. Oh, and the washing machine is broken, we need to buy a new one. Now. What perfect timing :(

Nordicmom · 20/04/2012 15:45

In Texas now. Arrived safely last night with a massive load of luggage; 4 suitcases, bugaboo in its giant case, baby car seat plus 3 handluggages. Had to to take all our clothes I could fit in the suitcases since we don't know how long it'll be... Going shopping for formula , nappies etc today and trying to have a fun two more days with just DS having our undivided attention...
Buns , I was given quite a lot of painkillers when I left the hospital ( plus iron). Had codeine for a week or two. Ibuprofeine type of medicine and paracetamol. I remember taking painkillers in some form for a month at least .some paracetamol after too. No need to put up with the pain , it's hard enough after CS anyway...
Good luck beyond !
Sound like a start of something Tinwe...good luck .

HollyPockett · 20/04/2012 17:43

Well, just had a sweep. That was pleasant :(

I'm 2cm dilated and 3/5 palpable. Booked for induction on Tuesday, hoping that it won't be necessary

The Diva is measuring 36cm down from 38 last week but they think that it's because she's getting ready to arrive...

Hope all goes well in Texas nordicmum

Nordicmom · 20/04/2012 17:52

Thanks Holly, good luck to you !

LaTristesse · 20/04/2012 19:20

How exciting Nordic, to think when you next come home you'll have your baby with you!

Good luck Holly fingers crossed you don't need the induction. You're at DVH aren't you? Hope you get a midwife as lovely as the one I had. Mind you most of them are there...

Tinwe · 20/04/2012 19:41

Thanks for the advice when and good eishes nordic - you sound v organised, not long now :)

Sympathy bananna - everything seems to come at once doesn't it? We had a similar time just after DD was born, including a new washing machine. Feels good once it's all done though.

beyond - I hate all these arbitrary dates and deadlines imposed on us. Hope it's all over for you soon.

marshmallow I'm exhausted too, hope you get some decent sleep soon.

holly just a few days behind you and nervously following your progress. I'm due a sweep on Tues (had previously refused one but was threatened with certain induction)... am really not looking forward to it.

Yes! In case you were wondering, yet again I had another false start last night. Pains all night and this morning then baby bobbed up again and pains have stopped all day, just had BHs. I need to be squeezed like a toothpaste tube :(

HollyPockett · 20/04/2012 21:26

laTrisse I am at DVH, have to say that all of the midwives I've seen so far have been great.

The sweep wasn't so bad, just uncomfy really and as the midwife could feel the baby's head i think it felt worse than it actually did - if that makes sense :)

Lots of BH tonight and period pains but I've been here before so im not getting excited!

WhenDoISleep · 20/04/2012 22:08

nordicmom glad to here that you arrived safely in Texas and you do sound v organised. Hope everything goes well over the weekend - is the c-section scheduled for Monday?

Holly, Tinwe - hopefully all those BH/period pains are productive and shorten the time of your actually labours

Beyond hope things have progressed nicely and you have a lovely snuggly bundle now.

marshmallow hope you get a better nights sleep tonight

banana1 ouch - it never just rains, it pours when things start going wrong. If the loft work mostly done now?

Not had a great day, end of pregnancy stressing I think, plus I am exhausted - I need to sleep, but I can't get to sleep till late most nights, then then DS generally gets up once and I go to the loo. If I'm lucky I fall back asleep but some nights I lie awake for 2+ hours, before falling back to sleep, only to be woen up by DS bounding in and starting to demand breakfast etc. 39+3 today, so I know I have a max of 18 days left to go, but I just feel that there is so much left to do to be ready - trying to tidy the house but it just seems never ending and the areas that were tidy a few days ago are awful again now.

Took DS to a class this morning and then went to buy him some shoes. 4 shops later, no shoes, because 3 of the shops didn't have any in his size. The one that did, the shoes didn't fit correctly. I get to repeat the experience tomorrow in a different town - he desparately needs them as he has gone up a whole size and his shoes are rubbing his foot. Plus DS decided to wear pants a week ago not nappies, which is great, except he is reluctant to use the loo while out and is now taking against using the potty to do poos (whereas the first few days he trotted off quite happily to do his thing). I seriously don't want this to become an issue, but neither do I want him back in nappies. Hoping DH can help sort it out over the weekend.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 21/04/2012 08:44

Weyhey, beyond is off to postnatal!
Gorgeous little Noah Francis born at 5.45am this morning after ARM at just after 4am. 8lb 5oz, and guess what... Placenta was NOT old... Grin
