Hi everyone - soooo excited as we seem to have turned a corner GrinGrinGrinGrin Last night after DS, DD & I had had our shower, I had a bit of a milk emergency as, after I'd got Lauren dressed for bed I ended up having an impromptu let down Confused So (apologies for TMI!) I was starkers with no shields handy and a crying baby! So I popped into our bedroom and fed her without a shield. It was fine but still hurt, so not ready to drop them yet unfortunately. Then afterwards I laid her on our bed and after about half an hour of popping dummy back in and shushing, patting, etc, she settled for over an hour & 20 mins without me before I went to bed!!!! We had a fairly typical night as well. Today, at nap time I put her in her cot in her room, all dark etc and did the same patting, shushing, dummy etc and got about an hour Grin So happy! Although as we've got her jabs this afternoon, I'm expecting all that to change Sad If we didn't have the jabs, I might even be thinking about trying her in her cot overnight Confused. Right got to dash as exciting visitors are about to arrive. Will do a proper catch up later!

foolserrand · 29/05/2012 14:03

Sorry TroubleBlush! I don't know where I've been really. We were all ill with flu then cold (except Miss Fliss) and now ds spewing from both ends.... I don't even have the excuse of a difficult baby....

Davina that's great about Lauren's sleeping! Hopefully the jabs won't affect her too badly and you can try her cot, if not tonight, very soon.

Trouble that's really annoying! Am very Envy of your cojenes and confidence. Think it's the post code lottery. There's a lot of Polish around here and they tend to keep to themselves. The others are already quite cliquey (and mostly childminders) I just don't know how to infiltrate their groups. I tried once when ds was about Madame's age now. It was an NTC group and, when I asked a question, they just turned their backs on me Sad. Never bothered going back and have been scared to make eye contact with other mums since. Angry

Shock what a bunch of bitches! You should try again! Smile

foolserrand · 29/05/2012 16:35

:o That's a nice idea, but now I'm so worried about it happening again (everyone has to like me, you see!) that I come across as abrupt and aloof. Not friendly. It's really annoying!

I shall be very close to you Trouble (and not too far from Bun or Trope) at some point over this long weekend. We are heading to Camber Sands for a day vomit child dependent. Oh jeez, he just came over to fart on me.... the smell! I think I'm going to be sick!

OP posts:
TroubleAndFyfe · 29/05/2012 17:15

That's so close fools! 40 mins drive! I might actually be going there on Sunday or Monday, we have some friends coming to stay with their dog so are going to do lots of walking. Smile

foolserrand · 29/05/2012 17:59

Really? :o We were thinking those days! Whichever my parents aren't barbecueing on.

Do you think it will be busy? Can't really be bothered with lots of people being scared of the mutts so would rather go when its a bit quieter.

We love it there, went in the middle of winter with the first dog before ds and I nearly lost my toes! I'be always been a tit and decided paddling was a good idea. Foolish fool!

OP posts:
TroubleAndFyfe · 29/05/2012 20:47

I don't think it'll be too busy as forecast says 15 degrees on Sunday. I can't be bothered if it's busy either, we're going to go in the evening if it ends up being nice weather, better for the dogs to have a run and less people. Look out for us, 2 couples, a baby, an EBT and a Vizla! Grin

foolserrand · 29/05/2012 21:52

2 rotties, miserable blonde guy, toddler, baby, purple wrap, huge green buggy.

Watch the one with a tail, she's a bit rude and skittish. Hmm

.... Assuming we spot you!

OP posts:
TroubleAndFyfe · 29/05/2012 22:59

How is the miserable blond guy? Has he been for his GP appointment yet?

foolserrand · 30/05/2012 10:13

Grumpy has obstructive sleep apnea. This will be fixed by him losing weight. He's also got to go for a kidney scan S they are worried one might be failing (this was discovered when he started moaning about back pain).

Life is much easier now he has a name for it.

By the way, anyone considering the next one yet?

OP posts:
TroubleAndFyfe · 30/05/2012 10:40

Does it make life easier for you or just him?
I plan to have the next one when Fyfe's about 3! Grin looking forward to it already though!

AnchorBun · 30/05/2012 12:39

Hi all! Sorry for the absence again having a pretty shitty week. 4 month sleep regression is for real (can also recommend 'The Wonder Weeks')! Also found out that a school friend died in a motorbike accident on Sunday (a car driver jumped a red light and hit him) Sad He's the second of our school year we've lost in a year which is awful considering we're only 24yo!
Anyway, sorry for the gloom, my sister visited us Friday night/Saturday and we had a lovely time. Met up with Trope and Odie who are both great, Odie is fabulous, very big, gorgeous and he gave me some adorable smiles! Grin

I have read everyone's posts but can't for the life of me remember what was said by whom(? or who?), sorry! So a few rather vague responses:

We co-slept for about 3 months. Lilly just didn't settle anywhere else, plus it was so great when we perfected BF lying down - I hardly had to wake up! Grin she's now in the bedside crib with the side always down and I love it! DS is now in a single bed and we've put the sides back on his cot-bed ready for Lilly but I don't want to lose her early morning smiles and giggles ever just yet.
It's funny though, we're doing things very differently to how we did with DS, he was in a moses basket from day one, in a crib from 6 weeks and in his own room at 3months. He was just a loud sleeper we had to move him for sanity's sake!
I've heard that co-sleeping is actually safer when the guidelines are followed. But I always say go with your instincts, no-one knows what's best for you and your baby better than you Smile

Another visit from AF here last week - we seem to be in sync! Shock Grin I was ok with it though, have been waiting for cycles to start back to normal before I get a Mirena coil fitted again.

Definitely no more babies for us! DP would quite like one or two more if we had the money (which we really don't!) but I can't go through another pregnancy with SPD as bad as it was (my left hip still gives me problems). I've always only wanted 2 anyway Smile

Sure I'm forgetting something... Confused

Davinaaddict · 30/05/2012 17:39

Morning all! Sorry, I was hoping to do a proper catch up last night but went from being busy to exhausted in about 3 seconds flat - the dangers of sitting down! And of course, as soon as I start to catch up, the munchkin wakes up.....back soon.

Right - 5 hours later! Grin

Mamma I've not had chance to properly speak to DH as in his words he's impossible to please at the moment (or something similar). He's agreed to pay back a set amount over a period of 6 months, although I need to go back over the figures to make sure they ate all correct as I'm not sure they are really. Some needs to go into the savings as well as paying back the overdraft. But I think he at least recognises why it's an issue, which is a start Confused.
The 4 month regression is as ghost says. It's horrid but you do get through it. And better to deal with it if prepared for it! Yay for a great weekend and now being on mat leave Grin

Gosh ellie that must be difficult, not knowing how much money you'll have coming in! HR are rubbish in my experience but hope you get it sorted.
Good luck with your chat with the BF lady and with these 2 weeks Smile

Thanks for the book recommendation ghost - will have to take a look at it.

Hi fools - lovely that you've dropped by Smile. Sounds like Fliss is such a lovely baby and has a fab big brother Smile Sorry about the illness - hope it leaves very soon. And are you a crazy woman thinking about the next one?!? Grin
What a horrid group of women! Shock I agree with Trouble that you should try again with another group even though I would rather eat my own foot than brave that Grin But we all love you anyway, it's just a shame we're all mostly so far away. Glad Grumpy has been diagnosed and that things have improved for you - have you got him on a strict diet now then? I hope he gets a good result when he has his scan Smile

Speaking of which, we never did pin down a date for a meet up did we? Did we mention November, or did I dream that? Anyone got any preferred dates, or ones to avoid? I'll be back at work by then so will probably need to be a weekend, but they're all free at the moment.

Hi Bun Sorry to here about your school friend Sad I have a lot of biker friends, and it's so sad to hear about all the accidents that happen when the weather improves. And most of them caused by idiot car drivers although there are a lot of nutty bikers around as well
Glad to hear the trope family are doing well. Next time you see them, say hello from us and tell her off for having too good a social life and not posting WinkGrin If for no other reason than I need a "War and Peace" post buddyBlush Grin

So my exciting visitors yesterday were my pregnancy buddy and her mum, who called up to pick up my tens machine as she was in early labour Grin She had a DD at 8.15 last night! So we both now each have a DS (4weeks & 1 day apart) and a DD (2 months apart exactly) Grin

We're not planning anymore babies either - We always wanted 2 and as we've one of each as well there doesn't seem to be a good reason to have another (from the outside-of course it's never that simple!). But DH is talking about and looking into having a vasectomy and for some reason I don't want him to have one, even though we don't want any more children yet Also, I'm 33 so I've not got many more fertile years in me Grin Completely illogical I know, but there you have it!

The jabs were just horrific (wussy mum here!). So I chickened out on the cot, but we've had lots of lovely snuggles Blush Grin. The check up went very well, I think, although I'm a bit confused about her weight. She was 4.15kg when she was born (approx 93rd centile). She lost weight after she was born but at the next weigh in was over her birth weight (for some reason these weren't marked in her red book Hmm). But at weigh in yesterday, she's only 4.66kg which the chart shows about 30th centile, although they've noted it as 50th on the 6-8week review page Confused I wasn't asked anything other than how I was feeding, was she feeding/sleeping well etc, and her weight wasn't even mentioned at the time. I'm not concerned about her development, as she's very alert, feeds well, sleeps well if only at night and has plenty if wet & dirty nappies. BUT I thought that if a babies weight dropped so far down the centile range, that this was a concern? Is that only in the early days? She is a skinny thing but she is quite long, with a large head circumference (both 75th centile) - not sure if that makes any difference? Should I expect an impromptu health visitor call do you think? Being a mum is so complicated sometimes! Ok, enough waffle from me Grin

elliebug · 30/05/2012 17:42

fools glad you've got somewhere with your OH, hope his kidney is ok. i am considering another OH but am not really looking my best to find one!! :O
bun i want a bedside crib Envy sorry to hear about the awful 4 month sleep fiasco! i will be on holiday when jake is 4 months old, i am going to book it now :o
got the go ahead to drive yesterday WOOOOO am going to mamas and papas tomorrow to spend lots of money exchange a duplicate gift and spend a voucher. am thinking about getting a sunshade/insect cover for the pram cos i just cant make the parasol do what i want!!

i cant decide if it is better to have more babies sooner so you dont get used to having a full nights sleep or waiting a bit longer? saw consultant yesterday and he said whenever i wanted for next as long as my health is ok. humm any thoughts??? better go express now (or pump my boobies as my OH says :o)

McKayz · 31/05/2012 13:50

Hello,

Sorry for being awol. Absolutely knackered and the recent hot weather has been awful.

37 weeks today!! Yay

MW has just been to do the home birth risk assesment. She is a bit worried that there isn't quite enough room for the pool. So I have to spend the weekend trying to rearrange the front room and hope it fits properly.

Baby is 1/5th engaged!! I know it doesn't mean too much but I know that subsequent babies don't usually engage until just before labour.

Hope you are all ok.

trope · 31/05/2012 20:36

helloooooo! I am aliiive! No mega marathon post from me today (Sorry Davina!!) DP is upstairs changing Odie (the little poo monster!) so I have a few minutes to quickly post and say "HI" Grin

I shall hopefully be back tomorrow when Odie has his big nap (which he now has in his buggy instead of on me.. woo! well, most days anyway!) and will properly catch up/update then! I've been all tied up dealing with family nonsense for the last week or two, (mothers... grrr) but it is all hopefully dealt with now!

Do want to quickly say bun i'm so sorry about your friend! I'm about tomorrow if you want to get out of the house / want to chat / whatever! - just give me a shout! :)

And now, i've got to go (god damn DP is quick at changing nappies these days!!)

Hope you are all doing well! Grin

TroubleAndFyfe · 03/06/2012 09:50

Hi everyone! Anyone have any nice plans for the weekend? Smile

MammaInTheMaking · 03/06/2012 10:16

Hi trouble! I'm off to a wedding today. It's a Chinese friend so will be a new wedding experience for us Smile.

On Friday we picked up our new car and yesterday we started clearing the garden a bit (it's a field of weeds and brambles) so we're trying to reclaim it a bit. We also managed to have a BBQ dinner during the 2 hours of sun yesterday which was soooo nice. Even got a bit of colour on my cheeks! For the rest of the weekend we'll just be chilling and doing little jobs AND WONDERING WHEN THIS BABY IS GOING TO ARTIVE!!! Due in 4 days......

How about you trouble?

Davinaaddict · 03/06/2012 11:05

Morning - we're having all the family over today for a BBQ and of course the weather is appalling Angry Looks like it will be a Grill instead Grin But it will be nice to see everyone even if we won't be able to move There are about 18 people coming Shock

The baby will probably arrive today at the most inconvenient moment Mamma Grin Think about having the most painful contraction when you get to the 'Does anyone know if any lawful reason why the couple cannot marry?' bit GrinWink Enjoy the wedding - hope your weathers better than ours Grin

Disappointed in that post trope Grin Must try harder Wink Seriously though, it's lovely to hear from you and glad things are going well

Hi McKayz - how's the evacuation plan going? Are you all ready to have your baby tomorrow as planned? Smile

TroubleAndFyfe · 03/06/2012 11:36

We're off to camber sands! You coming fools? Grin

McKayz · 03/06/2012 12:29

I feel awful today. I don't know if baby has dropped down or if I am having a shit day but it really really hurts to walk or stand up. Loads of pain in my left hip too. Loads of braxton hicks since I woke up too.

I hope this is the beginning of the end. Providing she holds on until my Mum gets home tomorrow.

foolserrand · 03/06/2012 20:24

We will be there tomorrow Trouble. It's a few hours each way so we will be spending the whole day! It's due to be pleasant in the afternoon..... apparently.

Hope Mamma's doing alright.... can we squeeze one more onto this thread? Maybe 2 if Mckayz drops early.

Hi Trope! Thrilled to hear you're all doing so well.

Bun Thanks there is nothing worse than losing a friend, especially so young. My thoughts are with you and his family at this terrible time. X

MammaInTheMaking · 04/06/2012 00:02

Well the wedding was fantastic and what a banquet afterwards! A 5 hour eating mission! Was getting some crazy constant pressure and loads of shooting twinges during the marriage ceremony. And now I'm back at home these BHs are sooooo powerful and long lasting. Baby's also doing lots of movement to stick it's bum outwards so for most of today I've had an incredibly lop sided bump. However much of all this I'm feeling I know it doesn't mean anything time-wise. Really could do with a show to give me any kind of excitement that things are hotting up...wish it'd happen soon.

Am actually just watching the highlights of the boat pageant down the Thames. Us Brits are so cool!

Did you all have good Jubilees? Smile

MammaInTheMaking · 04/06/2012 08:20

Hhmmmm so add really bad period pain to those symptoms.....

trope · 04/06/2012 08:38

Ooh! exciting!! Grin fingers crossed for you mamma!
