The one where Trope has her baby, possibly the rest of us too!

McKayz · 11/05/2012 19:54

Not the wraps but the things you put in them. We had to fold them to put them in the wraps.

This is a sign I need to stick to disposables isn't it?? Grin

McKayz · 11/05/2012 19:56

these things at the top of the page. We have millions of those.

TroubleAndFyfe · 11/05/2012 20:24

Oh, put in the nappy, sorry I got it the wrong way around! Yes, those are the prefolds, they're the bits you want to keep! We put it around the baby eg. www.diaperjungle.com/folding-diapers.html fasten with a nappy nippa www.babipur.co.uk/shop/Cloth_Nappies-Nappy_Accessories/c23_29/p1496/Nappi_Nippas/product_info.html you just need 3 or 4 Flip wraps, Fyfe wears 1-2 per day (sometimes get poo in them).

McKayz · 11/05/2012 20:33

Which fold do you use? Or do you mix and match?

TroubleAndFyfe · 11/05/2012 21:25

We Use the bikini twist, have found it brilliant but you may need something thicker between the legs with a girl, which do you use ghost? I did a little calculation, at 10 weeks Fyfe would've contributed 500 nappies to landfill and it would cost us £500 per year Shock

Davinaaddict · 11/05/2012 22:12

Apologies in advance for the quick catch up - I've a pounding head so off to bed in a minute Sad

I think the lack of parenting from my Dad is more to do with the fact that he adopted them more for his wife than for him (he likes an easy life and she was desperate for kids, but they couldn't conceive naturally or by IVF). And now she's divorcing him, he's feeling very bitter and trapped I think. Plus she has no consistency in her parenting, and they've never really discussed how they parent (what's acceptable or not etc) Hmm

Thanks for the sling comments Trouble DD's caught her big brothers cold so isn't feeling very well at the moment. But I think if she's better by Tuesday I'm going to try sleep training her during the day. I've no idea if it will work but worth a shot I think. Especially as DS was such a good sleeper. I really need her to sleep on her own before I go back to work, and now she's 6 weeks (gosh, how quick it's flown!), I hope she'll be more receptive to settling on her own. Also it'll make it easier for me to give DS more attention too - I think he's feeling a bit pushed out Sad

I haven't had chance to look at you shoes link yet Bun, but I will. Love a good shoe hunt Grin Why doesn't the app allow you to access thread links though grrr!

Great news on the house front Mamma Work for as long as you feel comfortable too. I'm not sure whether all companies have a similar policy but with mine, once I hit 36 weeks, if I had a sick day, I would be put straight onto mat leave. If you have something similar, maybe you could use that to finish early rather than planning it IYSWIM?

Sorry about the crappy MW app McKayz - you seem to be having it all lately Sad I suspect that your little girl wont decide to turn until the last minute.

Hi trope Glad to hear you and Odie are doing well Smile

Gosh ghost that's gone quick. It doesn't seem that long since we were all getting our BFP's!

Right time to try get us off to sleep now! Grin

MammaInTheMaking · 12/05/2012 07:54

Thanks Davina. We don't have that policy however I've agreed to do 3-4 days a week from home. Feels good to be able to finish up and then get on the sofa and have a snooze! Got 2 weeks left of work so not much longer now.

Trouble I got the draw something! Thanks Smile

McKayz · 12/05/2012 09:59

Morning,

Davina I really hope she isn't late. I am getting so fed up now. I just want to be able to walk up the stairs without stopping a few times, lie on my front, get up off the sofa in less than 5 minutes etc etc. I am 37 weeks on 31st May and I will be trying everything I can to get her out. The first week of June would be ideal as it is half term.

I've just walked to town and back. I feel like death now, everything aches especially my hips. Dreading the school runs, I think I might be spending a lot of time sat on benches in town if it is sunnyGrin

I am hoping the walking is going to help baby move though.

Hope you are all well and have sunshine!!

Davinaaddict · 12/05/2012 18:28

Ok so maybe that wasn't such a quick catch up BlushGrin

That's a shame Mamma but good that you can work from home a lot. I found it really made a difference, and 2 weeks will fly by!

I hope she comes early for you McKayz Smile Fingers crossed that the walking helps, the pain stays away and that the sun stays around Grin

We've had a lovely day of sun today Smile Daddy's had Lauren most of the day and I've been getting stuff done and spending time with DS, which has made a nice change. Still not much luck on getting her settled in her moses basket, but tbh I'm not trying too hard whilst she's feeling under the weather. Poor thing has a streaming nose, sore throat and lots of dirty nappies as well Sad I'm just going in the shower with DS now so I'm going to run it hot for a bit, and get DH to sit in the steamy bathroom with Lauren in an attempt to clear her nose a bit.

Hope you're all having a lovely weekend Smile

ghosteditor · 12/05/2012 21:32

davina have you tried saline nose drops/spray for your DD? Someone told me about them this week as we've both had a cold for 2 weeks! Really helped her nose clear and she didn't object to snorting salty water, amazingly!

Davinaaddict · 13/05/2012 03:38

Funny you should ask ghost as we picked some up today at Asda Smile I've not actually used them yet, as she doesn't seem to be blocked up yet (no feeding troubles), but they're now on standby Smile

Davinaaddict · 13/05/2012 11:54

So we had to use them this morning as poor Lauren kept having coughing/sneezing fits and then forgetting to breathe Sad It didn't seem to bother her much, but I'm now trying to keep her upright as much as possible and keeping a very close eye on her Sad

Davinaaddict · 13/05/2012 19:48

Well the good news is that she's been much better today Smile The bad news is I seem to be talking to myself! Grin Which hopefully means you're all having a great weekend Grin

MammaInTheMaking · 13/05/2012 19:52

Hi davina! That's really good to hear that Lauren is feeling a little better. Has the spray worked for her? I hope you have a settled night with her.

Just decided to start putting together the chest of drawers we got for the nursery. No instructions in the box where there are over 200 little screws and pegs and whatnot! Tescos will be getting a call from me tomorrow...Angry

Davinaaddict · 13/05/2012 20:05

Hi Mamma - yes the spray worked (yay!) Smile

The chest of drawers sounds a nightmare Sad Argos do the same quiet often - very Angry for you. I hope you get it sorted tomorrow. Don't they know you're on a tight deadline?!Grin

McKayz · 13/05/2012 20:46

Mamma thats really rubbish!! I can imagine that being very annoying.

I just got my email from the nappy lady. She recommends getting Bamboozle nappies and the Motherease wraps. I am not to keen on that as we have all those prefolds already. I might go start a thread in the nappy section.

TroubleAndFyfe · 14/05/2012 04:36

Glad to hear Lauren is a bit better davina!
mamma, hope you sort your drawers out! Smile
I agree mckayz, it would be silly not to use your prefolds. You just need to decide on which wraps to use. just get flips Grin
We had an okay weekend, hanging out at my mine's as DH helping step dad with the garden. Had a lovely roast and finally got my thank you cards done Blush gorgeous pic of Fyfe done as postcards for next to nothing so Grin! But, Fyfe got terribly upset as needed to go home and feed, he never feeds as well as at home as we work best in the laid back breastfeeding/biological nurturing approach and need space! I was desperately trying to get the cards finished and everyone was trying to soothe him, he got so worked up and it was getting worse and worse for me hearing him until I ended up taking him and was crying too! SadBlush I feel very silly now but it is such an emotional onslaught when he is upset!

McKayz · 14/05/2012 08:12

The nappy lady website says that prefolds are rubbish. So I think we'll get a few wraps and if they leak again I'm just going to give up and use disposables.

TroubleAndFyfe · 14/05/2012 09:15

The nappy lady is talking shit! Grin prefolds are great! I still have half a packet of newborn disposables here (as my washables were still in my mum's loft when he was born, we didn't get around to using them as loved the prefolds. It's a silly thing to say anyway, it's like saying terries are useless, it is just cloth, depends how you use it and with which wraps! Smile

Davinaaddict · 14/05/2012 09:26

Aw poor you Trouble Sad I know what you mean about listening to the babies crying Sad I've just had to put Lauren down in her basket whilst I sort DS's breakfast out and she did nothing but cry. I kept trying to shush her a bit and she's now gone to sleep in it! Smile Not sure how long it will last but I'm taking advantage whilst I can.

Oh and DS gave me the fright of my life this morning - I had Lauren in my arms plus was carrying a few bits and DS decided it would be a good idea to jump off the top step to the next one down Shock Luckily he had hold of the spindle on the bannister, otherwise he'd have gone head over heels all the way to the bottom and landed on the solid oak floor! Needless I say he got shouted at for jumping on the stairs Blush He never does normally which was why I didn't have hold of him.

On a positive note, Lauren slept from 11.30pm until 7am (with a couple of stirs between 5&6) Smile

Good luck with the nappies McKayz Smile

Davinaaddict · 14/05/2012 09:32

So we managed 10 minutes sleep, cried for a bit, until I turned her onto her side and now she's back to sleep. Smile

McKayz · 14/05/2012 10:29

I've just got home after doing school run. It's a mile each way and my hips feel like they're falling apart. I'm also getting pretty strong contractions. Hopefully they're just braxton hicks so I'm going to get in the bath and see if they stop.

OwwwwSad

TroubleAndFyfe · 14/05/2012 10:58

Good sleeping Lauren! GrinEnvy my goodness! Lucky davina!
mckayz hope everything is okay?
I wanted to go back to sleep this morning but Fyfe had other ideas. I did have a couple of successes though, I laid him naked on a changing mat on the bathroom floor and he happily kicked around whilst I had a shower and ran his bath (previously only done it for running his bath) and later laid him on the bed whilst I dried my hair and he fell asleep! Shock he always calms to the sound of the hairdryer but he has never fallen asleep apart from on someone or in their arms! Grin these may well never occur again though as it seems that once I write something on MN it is cursed! Small victories I know but these must be celebrated! Smile

TroubleAndFyfe · 14/05/2012 11:07

Have commented on your nappy thread mckayz, just to give it a bump!

McKayz · 14/05/2012 11:25

Thanks Trouble.

Everything seems to have calmed down now. My hips still bloody hurt though.
