Bun it's beautiful!! It's so exciting!!

Mamma my hips have starting hurting a bit now. I was doing the washing up and it was bloody painful. It started at about 28 weeks with DS2 so I was hoping I'd miss it this time round.

I slept all night last night for the first time in months. It was so nice.

Fools I hope your DH gets an appointment.

Hope you're all well.

TroubleAndFyfe · 08/05/2012 15:10

Gorgeous dress bun! I had a 50s one too! Grin
ellie, how did the group go? You could enquire about donating milk to the NICU?
Envy re the sleep kayzr, all night sounds like bliss!
We just got home from our lunch club, Fyfe has turned a corner with feeding I think, he appears to be much more efficient, we got up at 11.30 (Grin) he had a little feed for 5 mins and two more 5 mon feeds at the group between 12 and 3 Shock but was awake and content the whole time! He's asleep in the sling still from the walk home. Just need to work up to him being able to sleep alone now so I can put him down for a nap and get on with things. not in too much of a hurry though, prefer hugging my son to cleaningGrin

Davinaaddict · 08/05/2012 22:14

Hi ladies - lots more to catch up on I see Grin

Glad your DH has got an appointment booked fools and I'm glad he's going to try for a cancellation. It definitely doesn't sound 'normal' to be tired all the time. Make sure he doesn't play it down though, and don't let the doctor fob you off as well - assuming of course that you'll be going with him? I'd recommend you do so that you can tell the doctor how things have changed, as well as explaining how it's impacting on your family Smile Aw, such a cute pic of Felicity in her blanket Smile

Sorry to hear about the dreaded pox McKayz Sad Hope he gets better soon.

Sounds like you're having a rough time as well Mamma Sad Sorry I can't offer any advice, but hope it eases off soon. Fingers crossed work manage to get a replacement for you.

Hope the Bf group went well today ellie I second Troubles suggestion of donating it if you can. Great that Jacob's feeding so well Smile

Hi Bun Love your wedding dress! Glad that it is all coming together for you Grin And fingers crossed for next Tuesday.

Trouble very Envy at Fyfe's efficiency Smile Lauren was attached to me for over 2 hours last night! I guess she was after lots of comfort, as she was most upset whenever I tried to take her off Confused So a question for those of you using slings - how do you get anything done? I find it really difficult to do much more than walk around upright (so no bending etc) as Lauren's so big, and I get sooooo hot. It was much easier when I was pregnant! Hmm

So Saturday was the day from hell Sad I do feel mean saying it hut I just don't like my Dad's kids. They are sneaky, really rough (violent rough), don't have any manners, and very loud. I know kids generally have all some of the above traits, but these are quite extreme Sad At one point one of them came upstairs when I was feeding Lauren, and when asked what he was doing upstairs (on his own with no reason to be there), replied 'is this your bedroom?' Which it was, he then replied 'I was just wanting to see how good it was' before disappearing back downstairs Hmm Given that he's 7, I suspect that's not actually the case....I think I might have to ask Dad to leave them with his ex when he's coming to visit. It's not like he parents them when he's spending time with me & my sis anyway Hmm We end up telling them off looking after them! Sorry - bit of a rant there Blush. The rest of the weekend was fine, if a bit boring, as poor DS is streaming with cold now Sad But the good news is that Lauren will now happily settle with her Dad now, which means I get some respite time now. Or time to catch up on some housework if I feel up to it Grin Especially as DH is on holiday again this week - we're very lucky as so far he's been at work a grand total of 7 days since Lauren was born!

TroubleAndFyfe · 09/05/2012 02:01

Sad davina your Dad's kids sound like horrors difficult! Re the sling, I do find there are jobs I can't do because of needing to bend too much, like putting away laundry, however, I can empty/load the dishwasher, prep and cook meals, hoover and do light tidying which is all more than I could do without it! mostly I don't bother though
Yay for Lauren discovering daddy! It's such a relief isn't it? Grin

AnchorBun · 09/05/2012 13:23

Thank you ladies! Smile If you fancy helping me choose shoes I have started a thread here asking for opinions Smile

Hi Davina! Gosh sorry you had such a crappy Saturday! Do you think the lack of discipline might have something to do with your dad having 'been there, done that' wrt to parenting? You quite often (though not always of course) find that older parents with big age gaps between their children can be a bit, erm, lazy with the not so fun side of parenting. My MIL being a prime example. Not sure I'd have the energy either Grin

Very happy to hear that Lauren is settling with her dad now though! Bet he's chuffed Smile

Superstar thread babies! Grin

Ellie I'm amazed at the amount of milk you're producing! Trouble's suggestion of donating it is a great idea! Hope the group went well. Great to hear you have such supportive and enthusiastic peer support Smile

McKayz · 09/05/2012 21:22

Davina sounds like your dad needs to start keeping control over them. Like Bun I have known that older parents who has grown up and hound children don't seem to disipline the younger ones.

I think baby might have dropped. My boobs don't seem to be resting on my bump anymore if that makes sense Grin

I have my 34 week MW appointment tomorrow.

I've just come up to bed to find DS2 fast asleep in here. I'm not sure I have the heart to move him.

TroubleAndFyfe · 09/05/2012 22:32

Woo hoo! Not long till baby mckayz! Grin
Pregnant (and less organised) ladies - Aldi baby stuff starting tomorrow looks good! www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/offers/offers_week19Thursday12.htm

MammaInTheMaking · 10/05/2012 09:11

I was looking at the aldi sale trouble and there's lots I'd like but don't really need...if there was a shop near me I might pop in but I have no idea where the closest one is.

Well building work is going great guns. We got a lovely new front door up yesterday (the old one was totally shocking! So flimsy, ugly and yuck). This one will be painted a dark purple, house is racing green so reckon we're in for a few fun comments on our colour choices! Hall and landing have been skimmed, new dado up. Think today we might be getting a bit of colour on the walls plus glass panel above the front door. So exciting seeing all this work happen coz we've lived with it being absolutely crap since we moved a year ago. Next week we should get the stair carpet and wood floor in the hall. Yikes, hope it's done in time for Blubes!

Speaking of this baby, off to the
Midwife now and hoping baby's no longer back to back. Been doing everything in my power to turn it round....

4 weeks to go GrinGrinGrin

AnchorBun · 10/05/2012 09:23

Wow Mamma the house sounds lovely! I love the colour combination too!

Yey for the imminent thread babies!! Will that be all of us then? Apart from Baby and Toddle who appear to have abandoned us? How blumming exciting! Grin

Good luck with you MW appointments McKayz and Mamma!

McKayz · 10/05/2012 11:04

Well that was pants!!

There was a student MW which was fine. Except she did my blood pressure through my sleeve and got 180/120 which sent me into a panic thinking I was about to be put in an ambulance. Normal MW said that as I felt ok, urine was fine and no swelling we would do BP again after they checked baby's heartbeat, positions etc.

So then student MW said head was in my ribs and bum was in my hip and I was measuring 38cm. Then normal MW had a check and she says head is in my hip and bum is in my ribs. So baby is transverse and seems to be ignoring everything I try to get her to budge.

BP ended up at 110/70 which is slightly less terrifying.

I don't mind student MWs at all but I wish they wouldn't scare me like that!!!

MammaInTheMaking · 10/05/2012 12:10

That would have definitely given me a fright too McK. Thankfully the qualified one put her straight and all is ok with BP... Keep working on getting the baby into position. Annoying but it'll be worth it.

My 36 week app went ok, baby finally in the correct position and no longer back to back. I hope it stays like that because i've been working hard to flip it round. I told her about my hip problems and she said she'd get me a support belt and then told me I was doing too much and need to rest. She was actually really harsh on me (i know for my own good) and said i really need to think about finishing work sooner. I was planning on going til 38+5 with plenty of working from home days but she said even that was too much... Hummmm I really don't know what to do... I don't have much tiredness really and feel fine in every way other than my hips :(

Hehe, thanks for liking our colour combo Bun. I reckon it'll be quite good once all finished :)

McKayz · 10/05/2012 12:21

I think it would have been better if the student MW didn't look utterly terrified too when she said it was so high.

Mamma I know I couldn't be working now, but this is my 3rd so you don't have the tiredness from looking after another 2. I would keep going until you feel like you can't do it anymore.
Please can you send turning and moving vibes to the little madam in my stomach Grin

trope · 10/05/2012 14:25

Hey all!

Odie is sleeping (briefly) in his cot so I thought i'd take the opportunity to drop in and say "hi" while I have both hands free to type!

Thanks for the lovely comments bun - was great to see you all too! Still can't get over how big Lilly is now - seems unreal that Odie will be that big soon enough too! Hope the scan went well - when do you get the results?

ellie - yep - we do have the asda monster babygrows - they're so cute aren't they? :) congrats on the feeding success - sounds like you & Jacob are doing great! He's a gorgeous little boy - such an expressive face too! Grin

bun that dress is gorgeous - you're going to look stunning!! Grin

fools hope your DH gets seen soon - sounds like something is definitely off - hope it's something easily fixable / that sorts his behaviour out.

(and he's awake! that didn't last long! one handed typing from here on out - sorry for typos!)

Thanks for all the kind comments about the birth stuff - Odie is 4 weeks old today and our time in hospital seems further and further away. It's all going well here - Odie and I are finding our own little routine home alone together - it's weird not having DP here and I feel sad at how much he's missing, but it is going well and I have never looked forward to the weekends more! Grin

Based on the nonstop feeding at the start of the week I think Odie has just done the 3 week growth spurt - spent 2 days just sat on the sofa while he fed and fed and fed! He's been cluster feeding every evening for a while now already too! I haven't had him weighed since the midwife discharge at 10 days, but i'm pretty sure he's grown/put on weight! He's outgrown various clothes already and we've had to move up a size in nappy outers as the small size was just constantly leaking. So I reckon we're doing ok!

We have finally started using the sling this last week (before that Odie just screamed if i put him in it). We do laundry (one hand holding his head when i have to lean far forward to put stuff in the machine - ours is low down in the back of an under-stairs cupboard), general tidying up around the house, food prep and some limited cooking, the occasional email or mumsnet post Wink and sometimes I use it to get him off to sleep when he's grizzling, or we are out in town and he is refusing to go in his cot. He seems happier in it every day and i'm loving having the freedom of both of my hands free to use! Grin

We're hoping to introduce a nightly expressed bottle feed for DP to do - just getting a cheap manual pump and one of these for feeding to start with, if we all get on with it then i'm thinking of getting a medela swing for longer term use. Apparently 4 weeks is a good time to introduce a bottle so i'm hoping it will go well - DP is great with Odie and would love to be able to do more.

Right - got to go! Odie needs some attention! (he's getting more alert and interactive every day - so much fun!)

MammaInTheMaking · 10/05/2012 17:23

Just quickly....trouble I'm having probs with your draw something pic. It's a pink squiggle with a loop in it. 4 letters. I thought it was LOOP or KINK. But it's not Sad help!

TroubleAndFyfe · 11/05/2012 06:53

mamma what would you get if you pulled a loop tight?

TroubleAndFyfe · 11/05/2012 07:08

The house sounds lovely mamma the colour combo sounds great! Hope you get it finished! Smile
mckayz what a silly student midwife! I hope she apologised?!
Good luck with the bottle feed trope! A few people from the march thread have the calma bottle, it looks lovely - hit and miss like all of them though of course! It's funny as I've now spoken to quite a few people about it and there are babies who took a bottle every day with no problem for months then suddenly started refusing! I'm going to ask my mum to try with a sippy cup this weekend. FX Grin
Fyfe was weighed yesterday at 10 weeks. He is 13lb 13oz so just 3 oz off a stone now! Grin it's amazing to look at him and hold him and think 'I did that' Grin

McKayz · 11/05/2012 14:18

I am trying to persuade DH to use washable nappies. I am not 100% myself due to problems I had using them for DS2 but I am tempted to have another go at them.

TroubleAndFyfe · 11/05/2012 17:10

What were the problems mckayz? Can we help to solve them?

McKayz · 11/05/2012 17:20

I had Bambino Mio ones and they constantly leaked and DS2 had awful nappy rash until I stopped using them. He was changed every 30 minutes and we were washing all day.

TroubleAndFyfe · 11/05/2012 17:48

I have one bambino mio wrap mckayz and it is useless! Just leaks! The inners/prefolds are fine though, do you still have them? If so you just need new wraps. I recommend these: www.babipur.co.uk/shop/Washable_Nappies-FLIP_Nappies_by_bumGenius/c23_55/index.html they were £11 each and you need 3. You can then get a load of prefolds from eBay if you didn't keep yours. I have 30 so only need to do one wash every 3 days. I change him every 3 hours during the day and every wake at night (fine if this is 5 hours for example) I have some bamboo boosters for night time but haven't needed them yet. We don't have any leaks with the Flips. My sis uses them for her twins too, also with no issues. We use nappy nippas too. HTH. Grin

TroubleAndFyfe · 11/05/2012 17:49

Re rash we use waitrose bottom butter and sudocrem on alternate nappies and use flushable liners and have no problems.

McKayz · 11/05/2012 17:54

I think we still have it all. Most of them are all unopened as we bought the birth to potty pack and used them for about 3 months.

ghosteditor · 11/05/2012 19:12

Oh yes we use the Bumgenius Flip too, as does one of my friends who tried a few others but didn't get on with them. J sometimes has a few wet patches in the morning if she's been sleeping on her side, but I think that's because the cotton pre fold and booster make it a bit too bulky at this age. She's actually going about 12 hours overnight with a bamboo booster and has never had nappy rash (ditto trouble's sudocreme/waitrose baby butter plan), but only with liners as you can't get creams on reusable nappies.

She does however take out the wrap with every single poo! She averages once a day but it's often no poo for a couple of days then 2 on the third day so maybe the quantity is the killer Grin.

Third and final jabs today (for now!) she was a little trooper, but they've definitely affected her as she slept for most of 5 hours after her 10.40am appt, waking up to cry and whinge occasionally. She was awake for about 90 mins but is fast asleep again after bedtime routine Shock. I wonder what the night will bring!

trouble what a great weight for your little guy! J is just about matching weeks and weight - she was 14lbs 5 at 15 weeks I think. I can't believe how crazily fast time has flown - she's 16 weeks and no longer a tiny baby - she's rolling and trying to sit up and grabbing things, sticking her tongue out at me, practicing the pincer hold on her tongue etc - I can't believe she's been with us for four months!

McKayz · 11/05/2012 19:35

4 months??? Wow that seems to have flown by Ghost'

Do you think it would be a good idea to get some wraps then and see how we get on? What else would I need? I know we have the big things you fold to put in the nappy(can't think what they are called, we had to fold them). I also know that we used to have some thin things that went in the nappy. I think we could flush them but usually they were put in a nappy sack in the bin.

If anyone makes any sense of that I'll be surprisedBlush

TroubleAndFyfe · 11/05/2012 19:47

What are the big things you fold to put the nappy in? The outers? Those are the wraps.
The thin things that go inside are called liners! Grin
