ROLL UP, ROLL UP! STEP RIGHT THIS WAY!

The one where Trope has her baby, possibly the rest of us too!

Got everything crossed here too! All quiet on the front. Surely its a good thing.

Mamma, our backup boy name (scan says we're on the pink flavour) is Barnaby Thomas and our girl name is Felicity Seren. If dh so much as hesitates, I'm not putting him on the birth certificate! We have a G surname too. Ds spells JAG. It's definitely an easy one to make words with, some not so complementary. Have you had any ideas?

Loving your name choices Fools. In particular love Barnaby. Are they names you both like or do they have some meanings too?

Our girl's name is Violet and I really want the middle name to be my Nan's middle name which is Alexandra. But then we get VAG!!!! Which just can't happen so we'll have to slip in another middle name.

And for boys our name is Frank. We've not talked too much about middle names although there is a Finnish one we both love which begins with O but then it spells out FOG!!!!

I keep cross posting with your today Bun :)

Nope, Mamma no bongs I'm afraid. We x-posted Smile

Ooh Fools! Love the names! Would Barnaby be shortened to Barney? So cute either way Smile And Seren (welsh for star, is that why you chose it?) is one of my favourite names but DP vetoed it (he's still a little bit bitter about growing up in a very welsh town as an Englishman so no welsh names were allowed! Grin)

Ha! and there we go again!!

Beautiful names! VAG did make me giggle Grin What about an 'R' name so initials would be 'VARG', you could be all poshe about it! Wink

Frank! Brilliant classic name. Baby Frank is adorable Smile

Ooh I forgot how much I loved choosing baby names!!

foolserrand · 04/04/2012 12:23

Thomas and Felicity are my parents middle names. The others we I just like. Barnaby would almost certainly end up as Barney, Felicity to Fluff. Bun, star as a meaning helped. Felicity means fortunate/lucky so the full name would be lucky star.

Violet is a fantastic name! The initials would be.... interesting. :o Frank is cool! Baby Frank. Fog isn't so bad. If you put Richard or Roger before the Finnish name, you get Frog. I had lots of fun making up cruel initials before we found out the sex. :o My own initials spell COG with dh's surname.

ghosteditor · 04/04/2012 12:38

What beautiful names! I'm a big fan of all of them - I know the coolest adult Felicity, known as Flick, and a very cute baby Violet! And a fully awesome grown up Barney too (he's Barnabas). Oh and a new baby Seren [knows a lot of people emoticon].

My vote is 5April weighing, ooh, 7lbs 13oz (going for a lower one just in case!)

ghosteditor · 04/04/2012 12:40

We have a W surname and did at one stage like names which would have resulted in JEW and JAW for DD - my mum is obsessive about acronyms though so I'm trained to spot them in advance Grin

My guess is

< BING! Sorry . . . BONG! >

Trope had a good night. Got to use the birth pool for a while which really helped with her pain/back. She also managed to get some good sleep after some kind words from a midwife who reassured her that she was right to stand her ground against the pushy shift change Dr who tried to bully Trope into more interventions Angry

This morning, another shift change, another pushy doctor, this one's threatening to move her to an ante natal ward Sad despite the fact that Trope is now 1cm dilated and they can feel fuzzy's head (Yey! Grin) So Angry she's having to contend with so much crap when she's making such great progress!
But she's fab and has said "We plan on refusing, will go home if I have to as pre-eclampsia is still super mild and hasn't progressed at all." Smile

She is now waiting (since 9am) for her midwife to come back and sign off for her to get back in the pool.

Contractions were good and strong but have been fucked up by all the unnecessary stress. She's still got them though and the pool helped last night so FXed it'll do the same when she gets back in Smile

Finally, and possibly, most importantly, Trope's baby bet is "over the bank holiday weekend sometime, just to be awkward!" Wink

(hope I got everything in, Trope's catch ups are just as impressive when she's in labour labour!! Ever the pro Grin)

Labour labour? So good they named it twice? Hmm Grin

[shakes pom poms] GO TROPE!!

I sympathise with the endless waiting on the wards - on the day I was discharged (my birthday!), I was told I could go home just after 9am and wasn't actually discharged until 7pm! I had to have dinner, birthday afternoon tea, open all DD's baby presents and all my birthday presents when I got home after that!!!

Sounds like trope has some excellent MN-style bolshiness, go girl! Stress does indeed inhibit labour hormones so you just do what you need to do Wink

If that doctor threatens her again, I will drive there, sit on and squish him. I am not too far away! All sounding very promising though! Come on Fuzzy!

So, just got back from midwife. Baby is lower down than last visit. Heart beat is good, or too loud if you ask ds :o. Looks like she will be smaller than ds, soooo not complaining about that! Hmmm... that's it.

Gimme a T! Gimme an R! Gimme an O! Gimme a P! Gimme an E! And what do you get?

FUZZY!

Hang on a minute.....

Confused argh, bun, collation of bets needed!

What great names fools and mamma, love them. Frank is particularly amazing! My sis has Felicity's middle name with an a on the end as her first name.
Grin VAG!!! Excellent! And VEG is brilliant! Fyfe is FOOM which is pretty cool I think!

Oops, refresh fail!
Gooooo trope! Absolutely keep refusing the interventions, I signed loads of things off in my notes in the end! The midwives certainly didn't try to dissuade me from doing so either. Good on you! They're more likely to listen if you threaten to go home too! Grin

Oh and mamma, you asked what the mars man was getting at, I can't remember exactly what he said but was something along the lines of it not being good for me. Was not pregnant and am not overweight, normal size 10. Hmm

Report
MammaInTheMaking · 04/04/2012 14:56

Frank is really growing on us. I see it as a very bold choice and a bit comical on a baby, but it's really solid and a 'no messing' sort of name so we both like it. Although we're still throwing other boy names into the mix to see if Frank still tops the list. I also like Ezra but DP doesn't. Violet is a firm favourite though and not budging from top spot.

FOOM is totally cool carlita. Like ZOOM or VROOM! Hehe.

Well Fools is looks like Felicity is heading in the right direction :) bless DS for saying the heart beat was too loud! I'm yet to hear Blubes' heartbeat because it insists on doing the tango whenever the doppler gets near my tummy.

I'm loving trope's resolve and attitude. They need to just listen to her as she knows what her body is telling her. Get that nice midwife back!

Well mars man clearly had a screw loose. He needs to get shouting at some people who deserve it....!
I had a salad and choc mousse for lunch. Actually felt like I had to hide the mousse from that lady to stop her telling me off again.

Wow i've been a gas-bag on this thread today. Precisely how many hours of work have I achieved today I wonder....

Also wondering how Davina and Lauren are doing.

Mamma, I would brazenly orgasm over every spoonful of that mousse and if that twisty knickered, nosey cow said anything, I'd rub some on her face. Well, I like to think I would :o

On a slightly geekier note, if we keep on passing like this, the thread will be full in approx 17.5 days (mental arithmetic so could be very wrong!) That is before my due date!
