'ello ello ello! So, how are the new babies today? How long do they think Jacob will be in scbu for ellie? Can't believe how chirpy you are considering recent events. Thrilled you are though.

So, I have finally written my birth plan today. I can see me ending up in a room by myself. As it stands, there are points such as "kindly refrain from asking inane questions. I can be very short tempered when in pain and would hate to have to ask you to leave or kill you" and "if you insist on using the words "risk" or "chance", kindly quantify this (% will suffice). Inability to do so will result in me ignoring your advice and asking you to leave".

It's for their own good. I have a vicious tongue and do not suffer fools normally, let alone during times of stress or pain. I'm a prat, aren't I?

I have also drawn a smiley face on my stomach. It has made me happy.

fools you have made me Grin it hurt me wound!!! I had a bad day yesterday, got quite upset with the whole thing, everyone else having their babies to cuddle, expressing being painful rather than productive and stressing about being discharged and stuck at home not able to get to the hospital (oh is going to stay at work while Jacob is in hospital and start paternity leave when Jacob comes home) I suspect there were some evil hormones at work too!
Am feeling better today, Jacob is now high dependency rather than intensive care and has a lot less wires, they have reduced his glucose drip and he is still breathing well by himself. OH changed his first nappy today, a nice dirty one, and got the clean one on just in time to catch a weeGrinGrin I'm still finding hand expressing really difficult so am currently giving a pump a go, it'll stimulate them if nothing else!! I was always happy for him to have formula if needed so wasn't quite prepared to feel so shit about having no milk! Had a good chat with the outreach nurse who will see us at home which made me feel better about going home and she gave me some breast feeding leaflets for prem babies, am going to embroider some babygros this eve!! Think that's everything!! Will put some pics on tomorrow hopefully

elliebug · 16/04/2012 16:33

That was long Blush also wanted to say its been lovely coming here and reading what you guys have had to say, thanks ladies Smile

Davinaaddict · 16/04/2012 17:22

So glad you're feeling better today ellie and Sad about yesterday being not so good. You're doing amazing - every drop of milk is great, so please try not to feel so bad if it doesn't work out quite how you'd hoped Smile It's brilliant news that Jacob is getting stronger every day and you are helping him to do that Smile Keep strong, and keep posting and if you need distracting for a bit, then I recommend Draw Something WinkGrin

fools, you are one crazy lady Grin I LOVE your birth plan. Although I think it will put the fear of God into the midwives Grin

McKayz · 16/04/2012 17:35

Ellie I am happy you are feeling happier today. You do sound quite upbeat.

Fools your birth plan is brilliant!!

I have good news!!!!

I had my scan this afternoon. Well Baby McKayz is measuring slightly higher than average. Today she weighs 3lb 14oz which is quite nice compared to the 4lb 4oz she weighed 9 days ago. The MWs are not impressed with the private scan place as apparently it is quite common to have women in scared they have big or tiny babies.

So I can still have a home birth!!!!

Also DH got me a Kindle today as my early birthday present!!

TroubleAndFyfe · 16/04/2012 19:42

You're doing so well ellie! Grin
fools your birth birth sounds excellent. I had that I didn't want anyone shouting push at me or calling me a good girl! Smile
bun did your DS enjoy his day?
Grin excellent news McKayz!

Davinaaddict · 16/04/2012 19:54

Fantastic news McKayz Grin So pleased you can still have your hb!

elliebug · 17/04/2012 09:21

That's great mckayzGrin
trouble thanks for your drawings, they were ace SmileSmile
Jacob did really well yesterday they cut his glucose drip right down, am hoping it will be gone when we go up and then he should be ok to come on the ward with me!!!!!!!! I have managed to get them to let me stay in another day (crazy!!!) so am hoping he'll be down here by tomorrow and then they won't be able to send me home without him Grin I have a new best friend in the breast pump, last 2 goes I've got about 5mls, my previous best was 0.9 so I'm happy with that! Just need to get him on the boob now, I can't wait and am dreading it at the same time, I have the pump turned down really low, I don't think Jacob has a dial does he.......

TroubleAndFyfe · 17/04/2012 09:38

5ml! Grin blimey! You only need 3ml for a feed, well done! Best I've ever managed is 2ml but I suppose I am also breast feeding..I'm so please Jacob should be with you soon, that'll be so wonderful! Grin

ghosteditor · 17/04/2012 09:46

ellie yey that's awesome! Both the expressing and the likelihood of Jacob joining you on the ward Grin. With feeding on the breast, the best piece of advice I was given was never to let them feed with a bad latch, as one bad feed can set you off in a spiral of painful feeding. Just break the latch with your little finger and start again. Also I used Lansinoh cream after every feed for the first couple of weeks and never had painful nipples so I think it was worth it! Good luck, breastfeeding is lots of fun when it's going well Smile.

foolserrand · 17/04/2012 09:53

Apologies in advance but...... WHOOP WHOOP! Go Jacob! He's doing amazingly well, as are you. Very impressed by how well you're doing with expressing. Thrilled you have convinced them to let you stay for one more day, am waving my pom poms for him joining you today.

So, last night I opened the betting with my friends. 'd'sd has picked 4 days overdue the evil little troll and the closest is this Friday :o I have this weekend in my head, not sure why. Feel like I'm symptom spotting very much like while ttc Hmm. Been feeling rather sick after eating, tired and restless at the same time, struggling to drop off because I'm busy reading articles online, feel of energy yet lethargic, heavy feeling down there.... meh. I guess it'll happen when it happens. May need to book the vajazzle in soon, just in case!

Any news on Trope et al yet? Hoping the silence is a good thing and blood work is looking good, they're going home and fuzzy has a name!

TroubleAndFyfe · 17/04/2012 11:29

Had Fyfe's 6 week check this morning. He's doing really well. Weight and head are at 75th centile - same as when he was born, length at 50th - he has short legs bless him! He's in newborn/0-3 month trousers and 3-6 month popper tops (the washable nappies do add a bit of bulk too) pleased with his progress. HV was pretty surprised I was exclusively bf which is a bit sad, I know bf isn't for everyone but it shouldn't be a surprise! Hmm
He weighs twelve and a half pounds now! Grin

McKayz · 17/04/2012 13:27

YAY Ellie That is great news about Jacob. I hope he's doing even better today.

Trouble Fyfe sounds like he is doing very very well. I can't believe how old he is now!!

I think we should start our sweepstake on BabyFools arrival!!

I am going for April 23rd at 7:20pm. 8lb 2oz.

All the best people are born on April 23rd! Shakespeare, Shirley Temple, McKayz etc etc GrinGrin

The cot, mattress, room thermometer, swaddle blankets and my birthing ball arrived today. I am very very excited. We also discovered we have far too many clothes for Baby.

foolserrand · 17/04/2012 13:30

That's great news, Trouble! Is he really 6 weeks old? Can barely believe it. He's doing brilliantly, you always sound so sorted. It's sickening :o!

OP posts:
TroubleAndFyfe · 17/04/2012 14:43

7 weeks on Thursday! It has flown! Confused

Davinaaddict · 17/04/2012 15:07

Brilliant news on both counts ellie Grin. I'm sure you'll both be home in no time at all!

So I'm clearly rubbish at the betting game fools, as per my track record on here (couldn't even get mine Grin) I'm going for 26th (just because we should have at least one due date baby!), at 8.46pm weighing in at 8lb 6 Grin

Gosh I can't believe how quickly that has gone Trouble! Although Lauren will be 3 weeks on Thursday too Confused Glad to hear he's doing well still - he sounds a similar build to my DS. We joke that he's got his Daddy's legs as I'm 5'4" and DH is 5'8" but we have the same leg length.

Sounds like you've had a fun morning McKayzGrin And you can never have too many clothes - but it does mean you won't have to do quite as much washing WinkGrin

Sorry TMI alert - what with the random milk let downs?!? Here I am, 15 mins out I the shower, no baby with me (she's downstairs with Daddy) and I can't even hear her crying, but all of a sudden, there's a random tidal wave of milk! And the let down is much more painful this time round ConfusedBlush

McKayz · 17/04/2012 15:32

Sorry TMI from me too. I appear to be leaking milk or well colstrum(sp) I guess. It isn't constant but randomly throughout the day. No enough to make clothes damp. It never happened with the boys and I am a bit worried it means that she'll come early Confused

Fools Sweepstake
McKayz Apr 23rd 7:20pm 8lb 2oz
Davina Apr 26th 8:46pm 8lb 6oz

foolserrand · 17/04/2012 15:51

Can I guess my own? If I have to go all the way to next Thursday, I may cry so you'd better be wrong, Davina but I have a feeling I know when she will show. If it helps with guesses, ds was 8lb 8.5oz and the first I knew about it was my waters going at 1.20 am the day after the due date. I consider that more than enough info for you all to be making informed guesses with :o

:( my stomach ache is back. Earlier today, normally kicks in at about 8.30.

OP posts:
Davinaaddict · 17/04/2012 16:15

In that case, I hope I am wrong foolsSmile

It might just be the difference in having a girl this time McKayz Smile or I could be talking bollocks again Grin

TroubleAndFyfe · 17/04/2012 17:21

bun, how much do you give Lilly in an expressed feed? I've just beaten my former record and topped up the 1.5 oz from yesterday to 5 oz; I have frozen all my milk in 3oz bags as Kellymom said 3-4 oz so wondered if that will be enough or if I should freeze some bigger portions too? Confused
I don't have much milk leakage and none pre baby mckayz and he was early so let's go with davina's girl theory! Grin
My bet is 24th 9.10am 8lb 8oz

foolserrand · 17/04/2012 17:47

I'm not a leaker either. Was feeling a bit left out there for a sec, thanks Trouble.... although this one is meant to be a girl.Confused

While I remember, the midwife says this one is set to be smaller than the Splat Man. Hoping she's right, he was a beast to get out and stitches were involved.

TroubleAndFyfe · 17/04/2012 18:39

fools is draw something broken or are you just not playing? Mine says I'm waiting for you hurry up

foolserrand · 17/04/2012 19:09

Nudged you earlier. I'm waiting for you! Oh no!

OP posts:
TroubleAndFyfe · 17/04/2012 19:12

I thought you did. Sad oh bollocks! I guess though, seeing as we were counting manually we can reset, let it count for us and add our current score on when we get to 99 again?! What were we at? 126?

TroubleAndFyfe · 17/04/2012 19:13

I've deleted you. Add me please. Smile
