Hey there! Sorry for the huge silence, we are finally home but my pre-eclampsia is lingering and the meds I'm on for it are really knocking me sideways. The anaemia feels like it may be returning too, so all in all I'm pretty zonked out!

That aside though, things are going great, fuzzy is falling into a nice rhythm of feeds and sleep and is just the most amazing, adorable baby; I just can't quite believe he's actually mine!

We finally got the birth announced to friends/family late yesterday (didn't want to just tell our folks and have them share it for us, we wanted to wait til we were home and get to announce his birth/name ourselves) so have been enjoying lots of emails/fb comments on how lovely he is! I was going to post a bunch of photos up here for you guys, but my laptop has died. I promise to try and get some up later using DPs mac.

Last but not least, his name! He is Odin David, or Odie for short! :)

And that is all my brain power used up, Odie is asleep on me, DP is cooking me steak and I am feeling quite ludicrously full of joy and happiness. Think I quite like this being a mum thing! ;)

Thanks for all your support folks, it has been unbelievably comforting through what has been a pretty dire few weeks. You're a lovely bunch of people for sure! :) I will be back properly soon I hope!

TroubleAndFyfe · 17/04/2012 19:38

Yay trope! Welcome home! Glad things are going well but hope you feel better soon!
Awesome name choice! Odin was on our list Grin !
You are slightly mistaken though, the most amazing, adorable baby is actually Fyfe! Wink
So nice you're head over heels, me too..still! Grin

elliebug · 17/04/2012 20:22

Errr no, best baby is jacob!!!! GrinGrin who by the way is coming to stay with his mummy on the ward oh shit what the hell do you do with a real live baby of your own my boobs are behaving although sore am hoping a combination of lanisoh and feeding will helpSmile so glad your home trope steak sounds wonderful, hospital food leaves a lot to be desired!

MammaInTheMaking · 17/04/2012 20:39

Many congratulations trope. Wonderful that you're home with your little man. Also fab news ellie that Jacob is with you now. Do you know when you can go home?

Trouble you drew a picture of a doggy carrying something but I don't know what it is! 4 letters.....

I'm zonked, waddling, getting loads of pressure down there. Blurgh...

elliebug · 17/04/2012 21:13

Bone???

Davinaaddict · 17/04/2012 21:23

Hooray for being home trope Grin I was starting to get a bit worried, especially as Bun's been quiet as well Grin So glad all is well with Odin, and love the name. Sorry you're feeling crappy though Sad I hope the meds work very quickly for you.

Great news that Jacob is coming to stay with you ellie and that your boobs are behaving! Grin

I'm hoping for a better night tonight - we seem to have one good night followed by a crap one SadConfused I'm currently living off lucozade and chocolate - so bad! Blush

TroubleAndFyfe · 17/04/2012 21:25

Yay ellie! Grin
Erm...oh, it's a wonky speech bubble mamma! Birds squawk, dogs ...? Grin
fools, that hasn't worked, says I'm waiting for you even though I haven't had a turn. Sad do you think we broke it from being too good? Wink

foolserrand · 17/04/2012 21:27

Hurrah for Trope and Odin being home! A good ol' steak should sort your red cell count or help at least. Love the name!

ellie am loving your updates, they make me smile. You're both going from strength to strength. It is truly fantastic news.

Trouble.... you have a purdy picture of a birdie to get you started. Wasn't sure what number to put. 125 as I didn't guess your last? Did you guess mine? Were we really that far along? we have no life!

OP posts:
TroubleAndFyfe · 17/04/2012 21:50

Just remember 125, no need to manually count until we reach 99 at which point we add the 125! Grin

AnchorBun · 17/04/2012 22:18

Trouble Lilly was having 3-4oz bottles until about 2mo when it upped to 4-6oz. She can still be pretty variable with how much she takes, yesterday she was having a bad teething day and would only take 2oz at a time (that was a loooong day!) Smile

Trope I'm so Grin Grin Grin Grin for you! Can't wait to meet little Odie! I squeaked with glee at his name! I've never heard of Odin before, wonderful name! This thread gets an A* for all the gorgeous names we've chosen Grin
Really hope you feel more yourself soon. When will you be getting your bloods checked next?
Sooo can't wait to see pics, let alone meet him (when you're ready of course!)!

Ellie congratulations on having Jacob on the ward with you! It's incredible how well he's doing, what a star! And you're doing amazingly well too, your OH must be so proud of you both Smile

Yay for your homebirth McKayz! Grin No need to worry about early leaking, I've always started really early (about 20weeks) and DS was 11days overdue and DD just a week under Smile

DS is loving pre-school, settled in straight away. I was very proud today when the supervisor pulled me aside and told me "he's the best child I've had in all my years of child care!" Shock She was amazed by his manners and how well he plays with other children Grin Was very nearly teary with pride when she went on to coo over Lilly and watched how lovely DS is with her (he's started doing baby talk with her and squidging her cheeks adoringly Grin).
Am having a very 'I'm so bloody lucky' day Smile which was desperately needed - been feeling the dark cloud of depression looming ever closer lately. I think it may be getting bad enough to warrant a doctors visit soon Sad
I'm hoping that things might be improved by doing the pre-school runs 4 days a week, should be good for helping me get back in shape at least - 12miles a week on top of what I normally do! We ended running/jogging most of the way home today because DS was scared of the wind (for some reason running made it fun..), running whilst pushing pram into a headwind = good workout!

Sorry if that I've missed lots out!

AnchorBun · 17/04/2012 22:34

Oh oh! Forgot to say, Elizabeth is 3 months old tomorrow!! Now how on Earth did that happen?? Shock She's a proper giggler now too Smile

Oh oh! And DS is fully potty trained during the day now! Only in a pull up over night Grin

It's not luck you see it's good parenting.... Wink

TroubleAndFyfe · 18/04/2012 02:52

Oh well done bun! You must be so proud, you sound like an awesome mummy! Grin Very interesting re Lilly's feeds as Kellymom says it is 3-4 oz forever, that because your body adapts the milk for your baby you don't need to up the quantity...so er, I guess I'll start freezing 4oz portions! Haven't needed to use any yet as haven't been without him and find it quite a scary prospect! DH and I plan to go out for dinner at the end of the month as part of our anniversary celebrations and leave him with granny so that will be the bottle test! Confused

ghosteditor · 18/04/2012 08:44

trouble, on the bottle front, I wouldn't wait to test!

DD won't take milk anywhere but from the breast now - (she had a brief spell at 4 weeks where she took bottles, but has flatly refused since).

We've tried 4 types of bottle, a syringe, a small cup, and various permutations of holds/people feeding her, with and without me in the house, and nothing! I go out a couple of evenings a week so if she wakes up, she just cries Sad.

Last night was awful for DH - I was out for 90 mins having put her to bed, and she was quiet until I left the house then screamed the rest of the time. I got back to a very hoarse baby and a sadface husband... So seriously, do try it!

It's our second wedding anniversary next week so we're going out for dinner and leaving SIL in charge - we're booking at 8 with the hope of getting DD to sleep first!

AnchorBun · 18/04/2012 09:39

Aww that sounds horrible Ghost your husband must have been in despair! Sad Sure little Jools has forgotten it already though Smile How is she doing?

Trouble Lilly's probably just a weirdo! Wink her feeds vary great from day to day but oddly, if she has a 4oz feed in the morning, it'll be 4oz all day! 2oz first feed - that's the day set up for very frequent 2oz feeds! Confused

Congratulations on both of your up coming anniversaries! Smile

Holy Hell what a morning we've had! I slept in (for which I place sole blame on DP for not waking me obv.), managed to get both kiddlywinks and myself ready and out the door for pre-school in 45mins flat all on my lonesome (DP had left for work) Only to have to turn back home after 10mins because the wind was so strong it was blowing the pram and DS over Shock That's living on the seafront for ya!
DP came to Oliver's rescue though and showed up in the work van to take him and will pick him up later Smile Lucky he's working locally today!

Now I get to relax without worrying about getting Lilly ready so we can pick DS up again Smile I naively expected DS going to pre-school would give me a bit of a break, turns out it's so much more stressful trying to get them both ready! Lilly has the skill that all babies have of pooping when we should be leaving the flat Hmm

Lilly's asleep! Ahh blissful silence Grin

AnchorBun · 18/04/2012 09:42

Sorry! I really should learn to be more succinct! I'm what we Welsh people call a 'moiderer' - someone who just babbles away. Blush Grin

AnchorBun · 18/04/2012 09:46

Oh! Forgot to say last night, Fools, your birth plan had me and DP laughing like mad! Absolutely brilliant! Grin That should separate the wheat from the chaff! hehe

TroubleAndFyfe · 18/04/2012 09:50

Oh dear ghost! It's so had to know what to do, at first I just thought I'd wait the recommended 3 weeks to avoid nipple confusion but then I didn't want to mess up my supply by him being bottle-fed whilst I'm in the house plus it seemed kind of pointless. I'm still worried he might prefer the bottle and don't want to express full time! It'd be crappy if he wouldn't take one too though...oh dear, what to do?
Well done on your super-mumness bun! Glad you get to relax for a bit now! Smile how fully about Lilly's feeding patterns! Does she still wake at really specific times? Fyfe doesn't anymore!

AnchorBun · 18/04/2012 10:04

Haha no she doesn't do that anymore either Smile She's consistantly sleeping through from 11 until 7.30ish now though! Little diamond

It's a really tricky one because every baby's different and there's just know way of knowing how they'll take to feeding until you try. Guess you just have to do a risk assessment, what would be the worst scenario for you etc Sorry, not very helpful!

TroubleAndFyfe · 18/04/2012 11:08

By the way, draw something seems to break a lot..I am 'waiting' for all of you, if any of you are 'waiting' for me we need to restart!

ghosteditor · 18/04/2012 11:29

Will you be expressing trouble? Or mixed feeding? I suspect one feed a day wouldn't hurt!

Bun we're doing well thank you! DD is 13 weeks today and weighs in at 13lbs 7oz, so she's doing great. She's sleeping well: bed time is 7pm until about 8am and she does 2 to 4 dream feeds during that time, so there is no crying during the night, hurray! She's going through a bit of a grumpy stage at the moment, but day time naps are getting back on track so she's getting cheerier!

Grin
McKayz · 18/04/2012 11:32

Trouble I'm sorry my picture is pants!! Grin

ghosteditor · 18/04/2012 11:35

trouble it's tough, isn't it? If I could deal with introducing a bottle again, I'd probably try one a day when she was about 4 weeks, and not wait until she was hungry to start feeding, as I think she just got too upset.

I'm not expressing much now as it seems nuts to waste milk, but that means we're not keeping going with it. Argh! Actually the health visitors have advised I just wait until she can have a sippy cup; I found one in Mothercare that is suitable for 3 months plus so that's the next step.

It's awful knowing that everyone is going to have a hard time if I go out though, and DH would love to help with feeding...

AnchorBun · 18/04/2012 11:59

Wow Ghost! 7pm! That's impressive! Really glad things are going so well for you Smile

Because Lilly doesn't wake for a feed over night she's only feeding from bottles now. But my supply is starting to diminish lately, I think due to stress/depression, it seems to coincide at least so there's a possibility I'll have to start mix feeding soon. Just can't keep up the amount of expressing needed to increase milk supply again.
I'm surprisingly ok with it though, have gone 3months exclusively BF (whilst not enjoying it one little bit) and expressing with a 3year old to juggle - I'm pretty proud I've gone this far tbh! Smile

Pregnant thread ladies! I have some (45 to be exact) Pregnacare tablets going spare if anyone's interested? I kept on forgetting to take them when I was pregnant! So If one of you wants them I'll be happy to post them to you, save you a few £'s Smile

Sorry I've not been on Draw Something for a few days, have been to tired in the evenings, will try to tonight!

ghosteditor · 18/04/2012 12:07

bun 3 months of breastfeeding and expressing makes you a bit of a hero in my book! Grin I think supply can be an issue with expressing as you may not get so many of the smooshy hormones. But well done you!

Yes, 7pm - I credit it entirely to my friend who said it's not when you do bedtime but what you do - we do the same 4 or 5 things every night and can now do bedtime pretty much whenever. DD gets super wiggly and excited when we take her upstairs for her bath! In fact the last couple of times we've been out late (until say 7), she's been v grumpy and difficult to get to sleep. She used to stay up until at least 11pm but it has gradually come forward - bath, baby grow, story, feed, bed works really well for us.

foolserrand · 18/04/2012 15:53

Afternoon all! Vent time. Have just returned from the midwife. The same poor woman who was at my failed home birth last time. She has told me the baby is NOT engaged. I know its not necessarily a problem or sign of delay for second babies not that that is any consolation. She's also told me a rough weight. Bollocks. I now need to decide where I plan to have the baby, may get a flow chart set up for that. Ugh.

Blush That doesn't make sense, does it? Try again. I'm pissed off because the midwife didn't tell me labour was imminent. How rude!
