morning all!
Appt was a complete waste of time - got there and they said I didn't have an appointment with the consultant, just a day unit monitoring one, but that the day unit could get me in to see the consultant if I asked... hmmm... saw the high risk lead midwife (who in 9 months of pregnancy I'd never met before!) and got my monitoring etc done, then discovered that I couldn't see the consultant after all; she was in, running a clinic but it was a gynae one so I wasn't allowed to see her (bloody bureaucracy!) They did of course do the usual thing of offering to book me a c-section if I wanted though! (grrr) or I could see whichever other random obst was on shift... I declined and will now be seeing the consultant on Thursday (well, allegedly anyway!) I have an appt booked with my regular obst on Monday so might just wait for that to be honest, my only real concern is if I do go into labour before then I want something in my notes saying I can use the delivery suite/birth pool before the bitch senior midwife says I can! Don't want to be stuck at home with no means of pain relief! (Although being home is so much less stressful than being at that damn hospital it might be a better idea anyway).
I had a sweep done and the good news is that my cervix is no longer posterior, it's now mid position and easily accessible, which is good! This was the first sweep where they could really easily reach it so they gave it a really good going over (ouch!) and i've had quite a lot of blood/mucus and cramps ever since! Am still a bit crampy this morning so am hopeful for progress!
Today is fuzzy's due date though, so he'll probably refuse to come today on principle!
Maybe tomorrow, to be fashionably late? (Although after 4 pessaries and 7 sweeps you can hardly accuse him of rushing out!)
babybrain Yay for feeling movements - it's amazing isn't it?
Even now, with my entire massive bump wobbling about I still love to feel my fuzzy wriggles!!
Hospital bag - much like trouble's list - in addition I had slippers and flip flops (for the shower room as I'd heard rumours they can be a bit gross), my own towels (partly as I have super sensitive skin that reacts to most washing powders, partly as I liked the idea of having my own big comfy towels to use post bath/shower rather than scratchy hospital ones) all my meds (that was a big bag!!) including my gaviscon, so I didn't have to ask every time I wanted a dose of it, hairbands, my big sausage pillow (but I was in hospital for days and days, on really uncomfortable delivery beds - if you have a short stay/no back trouble I wouldn't bother), nursing bra to wear as part of going home outfit / post birth clothes, foam ear plugs, a squeezy water bottle and some moist toilet roll! Oh and some snacks too! I also had books etc, but I wasn't just going in for labour - when I go in for that I doubt i'll bother with books etc, but will just take my MP3 player for distraction!
Mamma my bump definitely dropped, I can't remember exactly when but I think I posted about it so if you search the thread you can probably work out roughly when! I found that fuzzy went down and up a few times before settling in and properly engaging. He's been 3/5 for a couple of weeks now and apparently is unlikely to engage any further until i'm in active labour!
