Thread 9! We do chat a lot. Who will be first to pop on this thread? Dream in 13 days, or is someone else coming up to it?

Oooh good question Too - I think Scarlet and Scream are after Dream and Fishcake due date wise? But down't Scream have a bit of a family history of being early? Or have I made that up? Naturally though Scream's baby is going nowhere until that CS is in the bag - how is that all going by the way? Are we waiting for your next scan to get a date once those fibroids have moved their sorry arses out of the way?

Biscuitsandtea · 23/03/2012 16:24

Down't = Doesn't, not some weirdo local lingo....

Wants3 · 23/03/2012 16:26

I was also wondering How many babies will make an appearance on this thread too I don't keep up with due date very well. Is everyone enjoying the sunshine today! We actually have a child free evening (sorry), we will go out for dinner so I don't have to cook either (sorry again)

shinyblackgrape · 23/03/2012 16:27

jaggythistle · 23/03/2012 16:30

cakes82 · 23/03/2012 16:33

Biscuitsandtea · 23/03/2012 16:43

Yay - congrats Cakes Smile xx

jenfraggle · 23/03/2012 16:51

Just a reminder that we also have a lovely stats thread. Maybe those who have already had their babies could update their entry to reflect that?

stats

McPopcornMouseNFries · 23/03/2012 16:52

Yay cakes! that's so lovely :)

jenfraggle · 23/03/2012 16:53

I have a very lazy baby cakes didn't move at all during the scan so sonographer had to keep jabbing at it to get a reaction. I also have hardly any movement even now so I'm hoping that this means a bit more sleep when it arrives :)

hawthers · 23/03/2012 17:14

Save me a seat

NinjaChipmunk · 23/03/2012 17:50

Marking place, off to pub for a lemonade.

Wants3 · 23/03/2012 17:56

This baby was very wriggly at 12week scan and is happily kicking me right now. It sometimes is so hard it makes me gasp in surprise! I hope this doesn't mean active baby when he arrives.
I have been trying to work out how many days I have left at work not that I am counting or anything and I think if I take out my study and uni days, antenatal apps and a course it leaves 7 half days to work! And a 2 week break to spread it out!:)
DH has decided to pick up a takeaway while he is out dropping the boys at their friends instead of going out which means I don't have to get out of my super comfy trousers!

Sorry, hit wrong button!

jenfraggle · 23/03/2012 18:13

Um, got a little TMI question for you.

I've got period pain again but this time I'm also a bit whiffy down there. I showered this morning, honest! Should I be worried or is this normal? I had it yesterday too but thought maybe I just wasn't that thorough when washing for some reason but now it's 2 days in a row

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 23/03/2012 18:41

Wow a chatty day! I've been out at a friend's house admiring her very sweet 7 week old baby. It's nice to spend an afternoon remembering why we're all going through this process!

Lovely shiny new thread by the way Scarlet - thank you very much!

Biscuits I do have a history of early labour in my family, but I'm very much No Brooking that this LO won't be making an appearance until I at least have my cs formally booked in! I have a scan at 36+2 in which I NEED my fibroids to have buggered off out of the way of where the cs incision will be. Then I meet with the consultant at 36+4 to book everything in. She's already said if I go into labour from 37 weeks (i.e. AFTER checking the scan) then they'll go straight to cs. So I'm not worried about making it all the way to 39 weeks, I just have to get through my consultant appt!

Yay for Cakes' scan and little swimmer!

Be back later...

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 23/03/2012 18:42

What sort of whiffy, Jen? Does it smell like wee? I don't know what waters smell like, but someone else will.

Yay for waving baby, Cakes!

Mmm, takeaway Wants

Biscuitsandtea · 23/03/2012 18:47

Can't think how to describe the smell if it's your waters. It smells 'different' - I've seen it described as smelling sweet (but I'm not quite sure I agree with that) or also as smelling like semen (closer to the mark). Confused

scream - remind me how many weeks are you now / how long is it until the scan when those fibroids will be able to show that they have unashamedly buggered right off?

jenfraggle · 23/03/2012 18:48

Just generally whiffy, can't describe it but not a wee like smell Blush

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 23/03/2012 18:56

Jen could it be a UTI? Any other symptoms? I think some UTI's cause irritation which triggers period pains?

Biscuits I'm 35 weeks tomorrow, so I've just got to get through next week (keeping legs firmly crossed!) then the scan is the following Mon.

V jealous of Wants' takeaway, but have just sent DH out to get takeaway calzones from Zizzi's, yum yum yum!

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 23/03/2012 19:12

On a separate note, my friend was told by her HV at the 6 week check that as long as she is exclusively breastfeeding, and her DD is under 6 months, she doesn't need contraception to avoid getting pregnant. She was categorically told she does not need to use any contraception at all for the first 6 months provided she continues to exclusively breastfeed.

My friend is disregarding this and planning to go to the GP to get back on the pill, but isn't this "advice" pure nonsense? Surely the HV is wrong? I know it can take a while for periods to return after giving birth, especially if you are breastfeeding, but there's no guarantee it will take more than 6 months is there? Plus obviously you ovulate a couple of weeks BEFORE your first period, so you don't actually know the moment you become fertile again. Has anyone else been given this advice by their HV?
