Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
pommedechocolat · 25/03/2012 11:36

I have to say dream, despite the tiredness I am preferring having baby to being pregnant by a country mile. It's all uphill from birth onwards :) I'm hanging out for those magic 12 weeks!

Thinking of all of you suffering and brooking for babies turning, babies not arriving until after cs booked etc!

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 25/03/2012 13:15

Too I have pm'ed you.

Music glad you like the tuttos! I would recommend using disposables until the meconium is gone as it stains. I am still using disposables and not liking it much, but with 1000 poos a day it is easier. + tried one on him and it was pretty massive, so going to wait a few weeks when hopefully he is bigger and pooing less.

Dh is back at work tomorrow :( Might be a hair raising experience... :s

Pomme was it you I was saying many threads ago about how being pregnant is so horrible it makes the vagaries of a newborn a breeze?

fishcakefoxtrot · 25/03/2012 15:51

Hello just a quick hello as I am DH has gone to pick MIL up- she is staying for a few days. Oh joy.

OMG the heartburn. The aches. The utter bloody exhaustion. I am beyond fed up. I do not know how Dream with a double bump and Scream with the SPD are managing. What with DH being away this week and DD's childminder being off I have had no time to think, let alone rest. Plus this sodding bloody report has to be finished so I have been working today and yesterday when I just want to sit on the sofa and stare into space. Half an hour would do. Except now I have to entertain MIL.

Also, the flat is a tip and we have prospective renters coming tomorrow so I will have to do big tidy and clean at some point too.

Sorry for the big old whinge. I have to go in for monitoring tomorrow afternoon so I will just make the most of the opportunity to sit and read my book Smile

Also, I have scared myself silly reading the Toddler and New Baby support thread so purple and pomme I am so glad to hear you say that having a baby and toddler is not all bad!

Happy birthday Pomme's DD

Loopy I am definitely not a sleep expert (neither is DD) but I just wanted to say good luck! And if you find a cure please let us know.

Musical Itti bittis are fab! I have lots of little ones and a few tuttos that I am looking forward to bringing out. So cute and soft!

Any chance of some of the marvellous brooking could be directed at our house search and attempts to rent ours out? The mega move is fast approaching!

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 25/03/2012 16:00

Thank you Purple! Will follow your advice.

I still find it better to be not pregnant with a newborn than pregnant, Pomme, Scream, Dream etc. Even a newborn that decides she doesn't want to sleep anywhere except on you - Daddy won't do, the Moses basket certainly won't do, and she'd really prefer to have a nipple in her mouth at all times just in case she wakes up hungry Hmm. I just feel so much better physically and emotionally than I did pregnant.

The aforementioned non-sleeping baby is now being angelic and sleeping in her pram after a nice walk in the sunshine. In fairness, she was demonic between 8.30 pm and about 1 am and then turned back into an angel when she finally fell asleep on me and stayed asleep for 2.5 hours, followed by a v short feed and 3 hours more sleep (on me, because I was too shattered to risk putting her down). Love the lovely co-sleeping! I had read somewhere that newborn babies can't stay awake for longer than 2 hours, but I had failed to realise that they can then nap for 20 mins and wake up again hungry, tired and cross.

Where is Biscuits? Everything ok in the Biscuit household? It seems like ages since she posted.

Biscuitsandtea · 25/03/2012 18:25

Evening all, hope you've all had a lovely weekend? We've had family visiting (hence the radio silence) so it's been pretty busy but mainly enjoyable. Smile. And we've had some lovely weather too which is always much appreciated!

Totally agree that easier to not be of any more. I'm still tired but it's in a different way somehow? And it's nice that everything doesn't ache, and there's no more heartburn. And it's nice to be able to 'do' stuff, like lifting things or moving things or picking stuff up off the floor etc, and obviously do more with DS1. But I am sure that the tiredness from getting up in the night, even when DS2 won't go off to sleep, is different to that pg tiredness.

Too we're also having 'getting to sleep' issues in the evening / early hours - and the whole 'too scared / tired to put them down' deffo rings a bell!

This too shall pass

This too shall pass

Hope everyone else is ok. Surry you have to entertain your MIL instead of chilling out Fishcake. Scarlet, you're another week closer to the builders buggering off and everything being finished! Hang in there.

Dream - you're ticking the days off too - how many days is it until CS day? Keep ticking 'em off! You're going to feel immense when you're not pg anymore! It will be such a change for you!

Scream your scan is this week? Or next week? I know you risks be just the other day when it was and I've lost track again Blush.

xx

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 25/03/2012 19:29

Soooooooooo tired. Just had a wonderful visit from some friends who live far away so don't get to see them often. I did try to sit up for the whole four hours they were here but got really dizzy and sweaty flushed halfway through so had to spend half an hour or so lying down in the middle of the visit, which felt odd! Still, it was a lovely day.

Thank you to everyone who's said life with a newborn is better than being pregnant! I am clinging to this fact!! I accept there will be sleepless nights and lots of new challenges, particularly breastfeeding, but I just hope everything is easier to cope with when you feel well rather than all these horrid pg symptoms! By the way Biscuits my scan is next week Monday, and my consultant appt is ten days away on Wed 4th April, which I believe is the same as Dream's cs date?

Sending lots of No Brooking vibes to everyone having sleep issues at the moment, whether the issue is pg symptoms or a little person. Also No Brooking for Fishcake's mega move! Hope that all comes together very soon! Good luck dealing with your MIL!

Sure there's more I wanted to say to specific people but my brain has given up all pretense at functioning!

NinjaChipmunk · 25/03/2012 21:40

evening all you tired and weary ladies. I'm so sorry to hear some of you are so down.
Lots of brooking for fishcake and some good renters and the mega move and everyone else who needs a boost too.
We went to a party today for one of ds's friends and poor ds had the worst attack of shyness after about 15 minutes of being there. He was fine at the beginning, then realised he didn't know anyone except the birthday girl and spent nearly the next hour clinging to me, and trying not to cry. Sooo not like him, he is usually so friendly and outgoing. In turn this made me super hormonal and I very nearly burst into tears in the middle of the party (am very glad I managed to avoid it but it was a close thing,I could feel the tears). Anyway, he's fine now and perked up a bit before the end so not all bad I suppose. Other than that its been a quiet weekend here. Loving the weather recently, I hope it keeps up!
Back to work tomorrow, ho hum. Must update my ipod and buy some new headphones as the double bus journeys each way are sooooo boring!

NoMaybeAboutIt · 25/03/2012 22:36

Hello you lovely lot of PESPPs, I just wanted to pop by and say hello, and leave you some freshly baked goods. And some peanut butter on toast.

Cannot wait for the next brooking baby Smile

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 25/03/2012 22:44

Have been reading a leaflet on co-sleeping here (thanks Purple!) and now realise that I was doing it wrong. Last night we slept with me lying flat on my back and Maia cuddled across my chest, with both my hands on her and my boobs sort of fixing her in place (no bra). Is this very dangerous? I am more worried about co-sleeping the way the leaflet advises just in case she did get under the covers or DH rolled onto her or something horrible.

Ninja, your poor DS! That would make me want to cry too. Glad to hear he perked up a bit in the end.

Scream, I think you will be one of the ppl who find it easier to have a newborn - you've had such sh*tty luck with pregnancy with the SPD and being so immobilised. I know the SPD might not vanish overnight, but it will get better and you will just be so much lighter overnight and that makes a big difference. And the weight that is left is more evenly distributed and not sticking out in a big bump that weighs on your pelvis or your back.

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 25/03/2012 23:14

Too if your curled round them then Dh can't get to them, I also sleep far away from the edge of the bed and have him on that side so no way Dh could squash him as have to get through me first! The outcome is that DH sleeps on a slither of bed on his side which suits us fine atm we are getting a new kingsize bed though! When he is bigger I will let him go in the middle as I know in this sleeping position, I can tw*t DH one of he gets too close Wink

As for covers I have them covering my bum and legs that is it, with possibly a corner on the baby. I also sleep with my hand on his tummy, so cover can't go up and my legs stop baby wriggling down. The on their back is because the sids are reduced from this position. The face down no no bit is that they could suffocate from this AND then the sids bit. Sids is scary as no one knows exactly what causes it. :(

Will try and catch up tomorrow, my first day with both of the kids on my own. Going to miss Dh like crazy :(

McPopcornMouseNFries · 26/03/2012 09:57

I don't think the rhythm method would be reliable til your periods are back properly too? Though that is likely what we'll use too (alongside condoms ) as my sex drive's been way better since coming off the pill so we've agreed I won't be going back on it.

I got asked about BF at my booking in appt too ? MW then extolled its virtues, with the proviso that she didn't care what I did as long as I was happy (ahh) :)

Oooo hawthers you tease! DH and I have very run of the mill names, so we're both keen to find something for DC which won't mean it's the 3rd in the class like we were, you know?

Gorgeous photo cakes! My 12 week scan is tomorrow :)

Went to Primarni at the weekend and bought some cheapo joggers a size up and ooooooo the comfort! I hadn't realised how tight my jeans were getting! :o

NinjaChipmunk · 26/03/2012 10:21

Morning! I feel really fuzzy headed today, not entirely sure why?
popcorn a hairband through your buttonhole and around the button works wonders at that stage with a long t-short to cover it Grin but the bliss of comfy trousers - I shall be gutted in some ways to have to revert to normal clothing after this pg!
oops got to go, boss is back!

farfallarocks · 26/03/2012 13:39

Good luck tomorrow pop

Great news Cakes

waves to everyone else, I am lurking about, trying not to freak out, 8 weeks today and feels like an age until the scan (next weds). I am wishing my life away in a spectacular fashion wanting to get to 12 weeks!

purple hoping your first day without DH is ok

dream not long to go now!!

NinjaChipmunk · 26/03/2012 14:13

Hello farfalla I was wondering where you'd got to! Very glad to hear you are doing well and I shall brook super extra mega hard for you for next week. The first few weeks are always difficult to get through without mentalling, I imagine in your situation its about 10 times magnified.

scarletfingernail · 26/03/2012 14:14

I've had such a busy weekend this is the first time I've been online since Friday Shock

Purple I hope your first day alone with the children is going well?

Ninja are you feeling any better? Maybe get your blood pressure checked if not?

Fishcake I hear you. I'm right there with you feeling like I want this to all be over. Night time is just a night mare. I'm in more pain when I get up than I am before I get in bed. Does anyone else have to completely get up just to turn over to face the other way? What an effort! What with that and all the pillow re-arranging I'm wide awake by the time I can get comfortable again Sad Heartburn and painful pelvis, the list goes on. I hope your monitoring goes well this afternoon and your MIL isn't too much of PITA.

In other news tomorrow is the last day of builders being in my house

OP posts:
fishcakefoxtrot · 26/03/2012 14:33

Hello hope everyone is doing ok in the warm weather. MIL is being a gem and has taken dd out while I am being monitored. Dd not so gem- like. The clocks changing really threw her and she took ages to go to sleep and then ended up in with us anyway. We didn't do any co- sleeping when dd was born because of her low birth weight but I feel we have made up for it now.

maybe I am due to hand in my sparkly vom bucket a week tomorrow and will gladly swap it for peanut butter toast!

fishcakefoxtrot · 26/03/2012 14:37

Pressed post too soon.

ninja might you be feeling jet lagged from the clock change?

scarlet glad to hear the builders should be away soon. Maybe your baby will move into a better position once it knows you are ready for him.

Ice lolly anyone? It's so warm here!

fishcakefoxtrot · 26/03/2012 15:06

purple How is your day going? I can offer you Brew for now and a large Wine for later.

popcorn good luck for tomorrow!

Have had my monitoring now (that's where my earlier disjointed posts came from) and everything was looking great- splendid bp and trace text book apparently. Was looked after by a lovely midwife who looked after me in daycare lots last time, so all round a nice way to spend an hour Smile

McPopcornMouseNFries · 26/03/2012 15:09

Thanks for all the good lucks, ladies!

I think I'm in need of a fish-slap tbh - I'm terrified that it's not going to go well iyswim Blush and part of me even worries I've just imagined the whole thing and the sonographer will turn to me and say, "I'm sorry Popcorn, but you're not pg at all - are you sure you peed on the stick correctly?" Shock Blush

McPopcornMouseNFries · 26/03/2012 15:10

Yay for the positive monitoring, fishcakes :)

Wants3 · 26/03/2012 15:36

pop it is perfectly normal to feel like that until you see that little flutter on the screen!
Loving the sunshine here, I have been able to empty the whole wash basket! I hadn't seen the bottom in a long time:)
I got the Moses basket down yesterday and washed all the fabric bits too.just need to buy a mattress and some sheets. I did not use basket with the boys so I hope this one takes to it alright as I won't have the option of going into the cot as the building work won't be finished until the end of the summer.

NinjaChipmunk · 26/03/2012 15:55

popcorn I had the exact same feeling. We had our scan mid december and I remember thinking 'they're going to tell me I've eaten too many quality street and I've imagined the whole thing' I thought the same with ds aswell. Thankfully the pee stick was right!
I feel much less groggy now thanks for asking. Although my delightful boss did come and sit on the edge of my desk and say 'you look rather rough tired' this morning.
fishcake glad your mil is being good, hope your dd is less fractious soon.
maybe lovely to see you, how are thngs with you?
scarlet glad your builders are gearing up to leave. The clean up should be a doddle compared to having them there. You'll get there!

McPopcornMouseNFries · 26/03/2012 16:57

:o :o ninja!

cakes82 · 26/03/2012 16:57

Pop I'm sure you'll be fine! I kinda know where your coming from though even though i've had 3 scans already i'm still not totally believing i'm pg. Have you ever seen Blackadder with the Queen and she gets really fat round the belly and they think she is pg so they do all these mad old wives tales tests which say she is pg. Then she eats cabbage and passes wind and everything is back to normal. I keep waiting for that passing of wind and thats all it is and i'm not pg after all Blush

Wants How do I put the cover and hood onto a moses basket, I've kinda figured cover out but hood is foxing me?
