Beeblebear, my new discovery is that shoving a pillow down my back to lean against, as well as a pillow down my front to hug/stick between my knees, and a pillow for my head, all combined mean I wake up without aches and pains in hips and back! Worth a try. Not sure there will be room in the bed for DH when he gets home though...

Boo to uninspiring appointments, babybrain. I should think you'll almost be able to hear the heartbeat yourself with a yoghurt pot and string arrangement by 28 weeks! Grin It doesn't sound like people get much face time with midwives in the UK, or does it vary massively between areas?

MakeTeaNotWar · 20/04/2012 11:33

Ah heard baby's heartbeat yesterday, strong and clear like a little chuffing train - it was lovely. 17 + 3 here today and I may be feeling a flutter or I may be making it up. We're off to Centre Parcs on Tuesday for a week with the in-laws. I've never been and I know people who love it but sounds super cheesy to me and I'm dreading it - is it any good?

cakes82 · 20/04/2012 16:24

I had my 16w mw appt yesterday, although i'm only 16w today. I had about an hour with my mw including hearing heartbeat which was 140bpm. I see mw again at 24w I think that is cause its my first baby.

RnB · 20/04/2012 18:27

Babybrain - I've got the ICandy Peach - it's lovely. Am going to get the adaptors to turn it into a double for when this one comes along.

babybrain3 · 20/04/2012 18:44

I am very Envy of your icandy Sad am watching another (closer) one though now, so fx....

And centre parcs is lovely.... Envy about that too.... Sad

Beeblebear · 20/04/2012 18:56

popping on real quick - uploaded a belly pic to profile!

Anyone else care to show pics?

Guccigirl79 · 20/04/2012 19:43

That must've been nice to hear heartbeat & have such a long app Cakes I hope mine is like that when I finally make it to 16wks :)

In responce to your question Beeble I keep forgetting to take belly pics so will defo get on that however, with regard to putting on profile mmm not so sure about that lol maybe when it's more baby looking rather than just fat I may think about it then!!

cakes82 · 20/04/2012 20:10

It was lovely :o mw found heartbeat then I laughed and she had to refind it baby went all shy and made it difficult lol.
I think appt would prob be quicker but both mw and me talk too much lol.

Not sure I would put a bump/belly pic on yet until its more bump. Nice pic Beeble

Bubblebell1 · 20/04/2012 20:35

Hey girls.

cakes your midwife appointment sounds really reassuring. Hope mine is the same.
I listen to baby's heartbeat with my Doppler. It was only £25!!!

I'm on my phone and have forgotten names to reply personally but re prams I'm looking at the bebecar vector. I've had 4 with each of my dc Blush love prams and have tried and tested most.

I tried to upload a pic. I do have some on my profile but not Sussed out how to do it on my phone.

Hope you all have a great weekend. Dp is working so it's just me and the boys. Grin

babybrain3 · 21/04/2012 06:37

LoopyLa · 21/04/2012 07:11

Well done babybrain, nice one!!

Nothing much to report here. It's my birthday today (which is more eeek! than yay! frankly!! Confused ) Going shopping, having dinner then cinema with DH later.

Tomorrow we are telling DH's family about Bubba H - anyone responding with 'it's about time' will be met with a punch on the nose!! Grin

Have a good weekends everyone! Smile

babybrain3 · 21/04/2012 07:42

Thanks loopy less than half price too, so all we have to get now are the the car seat, and mattresses for the crib and cot.... I'm thinking I may be a little bit too prepared.....

Does anyone pay any attention to the superstition thing about not having things in the house??? Confused

babybrain3 · 21/04/2012 07:43

And happy birthday too!! Is it a special one?? I am due 4 days before my 30th!!! ConfusedConfused

LoopyLa · 21/04/2012 09:28

Well, I'm 35...not sure if that's something to celebrate or not!!

Hmm
pinpan · 21/04/2012 09:47

Happy Birthday Loopy!

I had a nice day - got DH back from America, and we wandered round some baby shops eyeing up cots. I've got enough of a bump now that I don't feel like a fraud anymore! Also, found possibly the best cot bedding ever? Money might actually get spent soon...

Bear1984 · 21/04/2012 12:55

Lol I had to look up what an iCandy was as I was a bit Confused Blush lol! I have nothing prepared, you're all putting me to shame haha! Though tbf we're going to Paris is just over a week so saving our pennies for that Grin

Happy birthday Loopy!

Glad everyone's appointments are going well and you've heard heartbeats too! :)

Wedding went well yesterday. We ended up being there longer than we had anticipated but it was good fun. Knackered now though. Had to be up earlyish to take DD to a party.

We've decided to not find out the sex of the baby. Our hospital doesn't tell us, so we'd have to go privately which will cost at least £75 Shock. I've been told of a hospital near us that does say but I think it'll be too much hassle to try and swap and do all of that just to find out, so think we're leaving it til we meet little baba.

cakes82 · 21/04/2012 18:26

Happy Birthday Loopy

I turn 30 about 2wks before my due date.

We have quite a few bits and pieces towards LO, but i've been told I cant have anything else for a while cause we need car tyres lol. The stuff i've bought has either been on offer, second hand or from Ebay.

cakes82 · 21/04/2012 20:00

Question for those of you that have started buying new clothes. Have any of you bought non maternity designed clothes(normal clothes)? If so how did you decide on what size to buy.
With maternity clothes proper do you buy your normal size or the next one up?
I have two problems, I do a lot of my shopping on the internet so can't try on till it arrives and also I have been buying size 12 trs which do fit but i've gone through phases where a size 13 would be better so that confuses what size to buy.

RnB · 21/04/2012 20:38

Yay Babybrain!!!! Grin what colour have you got?? Congrats!

I've got my 16 week check on Monday, although I will actually be 18 weeks - I couldn't get an appointment before! I can't wait to hear the heartbeat for the first time Smile

RnB · 21/04/2012 20:41

Cakes82 - you generally buy your pre-pregnancy size, although when I got my jeans in H&M the shop assistant advised me to get the next size up as their clothes come up small apparently.

Winnie81 · 22/04/2012 08:09

I want an iCandy too! I have been looking on eBay but not buying anything until we get the results for the full genetic screening. We have waited one week so hopefully we will get results by next weekend.

We have loads of stuff from ds1 and im not sure how im going to feel about using it Hmm

Anyway I will keep u posted on results

Bubblebell1 · 22/04/2012 08:56

Winnie I really hope that your results are back sooner rather than later and that everything is fine.

RunningOutOfIdeas · 22/04/2012 11:54

Morning all. Pleased some have heard heart beats and have had good scans. I have another week to wait for my MW appointment.

I am very pleased with myself this morning. I have made a chocolate cake with DD. I have never made a cake before. It is cooling now, can't wait to ice it and try it later. DD helped mix a little but mostly she licked out the bowl after. I have a great photo of her with chocolate all over her face and hands.

I bought a pair of maternity jeans from JoJo Maman Bebe on Friday. My usual size fitted fine. I also bought a tunic top from French Connection in a size up from normal. That works for my enormous norks and I think is enough room for my bump to grow til at least 30 weeks.

Guccigirl79 · 22/04/2012 13:12

Afternoon!! Happy birthday for yesterday Loopy I hope you were spoilt rotten :) I know its not the same the next day but didnt make it on here yesterday as it was one of those days!!

Just taken delivery of some baby paraphernalia from a friend this morning (it all seems to be getting a bit more real now) from how she was talking I dont think this will be the onlt batch she gives me lol

Mmmm chocolate cake!!! Save me a piece Running Grin

Been up since 6:30 this morning & 5:30 yesterday so am flagging now, thank goodness the F1 is on so I can put my feet up & watch the race :)

newtonupontheheath · 22/04/2012 20:11

Hi all!

Happy birthday Loopy Hope you had a fab day Smile

Well, things just got a bit more interesting over here... I've been engaged to DP for a couple of years now (since I found out I was pregnant with ds) and we've always talked about getting married "one day" So, this weekend, I don't know what has happened to DP but he's gone wedding mad!! He's determined to get married before dc2 is born and today we went and bought the rings Blush Tomorrow he's calling round the local registry offices (luckily there are quite a few within about half an hour of here) Grin The plan is to have close friends and family at the registry office then a meal at a local restaurant afterwards. Nothing big but it'll be nice to get it over and done with (in the nicest possible way!) So this time tomorrow we should know whether we can be squeezed in somewhere (anywhere!) before the end of August and I can start looking at dresses Grin

Oh and a few more of these Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin
