Good luck to everyone with scans today.

Going to have to invest in some maternity clothes this week as well I think, the hairband round the button trick is starting to snap hairbands on a daily basis. Asda have some nice cheap stuff in at the moment if anyone's still looking for anything, seems to sell out very quickly though!

DameFlatYouLent · 03/04/2012 15:30

Afternoon all - the scan was fab! The little squirmer was playing very hard to get, so the sonographer struggled to get the measurements. It meant we were there for ages, and saw loads! It was lovely Smile Feel so much happier now!

GizzyBoo · 03/04/2012 16:36

Great news Dame Smile
Same happened at my scan + we had a trainee....we were in there for a very long time!

Awwww my MW just popped in on the off chance I had time for a cuppa and a chat. She wanted a look at my scan pic Grin
Great news is she has received a letter from the cons saying they are happy for me to give birth at home here on the island so it is all systems go for my home birth Grin
I mentioned to her that I would like to give birth in a pool and as none of the midwives here are experienced in pool births she is going to get some training booked!!
She is also more than happy for the kids to be present and to take as active a role as they want to have!

I couldn't be happier GrinGrin

Ooops, sorry gizzy you have the best due date though-my birthday!! Grin

newtonupontheheath · 03/04/2012 19:07

ooo Babybrain we can be due date buddies :o (But we may fall out if you have your LO first Wink )

Great to hear everybody's scans went so well.

Gizzy Have you had a home birth with any of you other DC? I had one with my DS and it was the best decision I have ever made. I found it so amazing that everybody in my street went to sleep and we didn't have a baby and before they all woke up the next day, I was stood with DS looking out of the window- our whole lives had changed whilst they had been sleeping! (Even more amazing because at the time, we lived in the same street as my parents and they had no clue that I had even been in labour!)

Am still feeling pretty awful here. I'm definitely going to the MW drop in on Thurs and going to request blood tests again. My iron levels must be low, I am constantly knackered, short of breath and it's taking me forever to get over this flu thing. I'm normally really healthy so it's starting to get me down a little... Maybe shopping for maternity clothes would help ... hmmm...

babybrain3 · 03/04/2012 19:15

Yay, due date buddies... Although my other two were early, so am kind of expecting a September baby really.... Hope you're not too disappointed-you could always beat me!! Wink

Hope you start to feel better soon, sounds like some iron tablets could really help. Smile

MissPenteuth · 03/04/2012 19:24

Glad to hear everyone's scans have gone well.

I had to go and have blood taken today for the combined test. Thought I'd cheer myself up with some maternity clothes shopping afterwards. And I came home empty-handed :( H&M didn't have anything I liked, Topshop was too trendy (even the maternity range! I'm officially old and unstylish), New Look had a few things but not in my size, Next had one measly rail of maternity wear and the only nice tops in my size had a hole in Hmm, and Dorothy Perkins has disappeared completely and been replaced by Boots! I've consoled myself by ordering a couple of things from New Look online (with 20% discount too), I just hope they fit. I hope everyone else has better luck than me in finding stuff.

Sorry you're feeling under the weather newton, hope you feel better soon. Sounds like it could well be an iron deficiency. I prescribe a nice steak and lots of good quality dark chocolate :)

Pheebs24 · 03/04/2012 20:08

Evening all finally coming round to the idea that I'm 10 wks pg and thought I'd start joining in rather than just checking people are sick and tired like me!!!

Its my first and am relieved to finally be filling out the flabby tum I've got :o

One question: has anyone founf any decent non-wire bras? thought I had found some on the M&S website but look really awful on...

Littleplasticpeople · 03/04/2012 20:20

Lovely to hear about all the scans Smile

missp I had a very similar shopping experience today! Next, Dotty ps and top shop don't have maternity in store. Nothing in H&M that I liked (after trying on loads). In the end I got one pair of linen trousers from New Look.

I couple of weeks ago I ordered a couple of Asos 'boyfriend maternity t shirts', they are great and very reasonably priced too. Thing is 2 tshirts ain't going to be enough!

newtonupontheheath · 03/04/2012 20:21

baby How early? Hmm DS was 3 days early....it is ON my friend. oh, wait, am I too eager? I'll come back to you mid-September with that challenge!

Well, an evening of shopping and I've bought nowt! Have found three things that I like...

Bugs

Chinos

Work dress

Might wait and see before I commit to a purchase though. Any body found any other shops/websites?

Littleplasticpeople · 03/04/2012 20:24

Oh god the bras! That was the other aspect of my shopping trip, a measuring in M&S. Then shown to the wrack with the most minging nonwired/maternity bras. Of course I bought a couple and they are incredibly comfy and they don't exactly make me feel attractive!

Pheebs24 · 03/04/2012 20:29

Since when did we all start wearing underwire? Admittedly thats all I've bought for years, but I'm sure there used to be alternatives that weren't constructed from Nora Batty's cast offs! Grrr

Guccigirl79 · 03/04/2012 20:40

Oooo not looking forward to non wired bras,my lallies will be on my knees if I have to succomb to those!!! I dared to get a couple from asda last week (only went a cup size bigger,to an F!!!) So obviously I'm not looking forward to my wangers not being supported & leaking as well to boot lol sadly the bras have to go back as the one side gave me two boobs in one!!

elvislives2012 · 03/04/2012 21:11

Ooh guccigirl79 we are date buddies! How exciting! Glad to hear all the scan results its so much fun! Had 12 week appt with madwife today and she was LUSH. also listened to the heartbeat, I could have listened all day! Wow.
Hope everyone is feeling better? I've got a cold on top of everything- I'm really waiting for the blooming phase.......

Guccigirl79 · 03/04/2012 21:30

Yay elvis!!! I've been waiting for a date buddy lol have you had your scan yet? Mine is this Thurs at 2pm & I'm getting bit nervous now!!!!

elvislives2012 · 03/04/2012 21:38

gucci I had a private scan last week as a pressie- it was fantastic you'll love it! Waiting for nhs one now... can't wait. I wonder if they'll do weekly ones....?

MakeTeaNotWar · 03/04/2012 21:45

Hello fellow pregos, just checking in. I've started wearing my Baby on Board badge with pride on my daily commute and gladly accept all offered seats! Sometimes though people genuinely don't see - eyes down on the Kindle and hooked up to their ipads. Dreading the Olympics and having to shove my way through millions of people at London Bridge. Am 15 weeks tomorrow whoop!

Pheebs24 · 03/04/2012 21:52

Has anyone been able to take a video recording of their scan? My first is the 16th and dh can't be there and he's gutted - he's been looking forward to a baby for years. I've tried to console him with the idea that he can try to be around fro the 20wk which will be the better one 'cos we'll see if we have a winkie or a foof on the way, but I don't think that'll work for long!

pinpan · 04/04/2012 05:58

Pheebs, I had the option of getting the whole scan - stills and moving pictures - on a CD, if I wanted to pay for it. I was a cheapskate and just got some still images emailed to me. I don't know whether you can do that on the NHS, but I guess that means the technology is available, at least!

The loudmouth at work let the cat truly out of the bag at lunch time today after remembering that his girlf told him my news last night, and has christened me "Lumpy." Hmm To be honest, that's pretty tame compared to what I thought I'd have to put up with, so I'll settle for it. I am feeling pretty lumpy! Grin

babybrain3 · 04/04/2012 07:09

Newton ds was 4 wks early and dd was 5 days early.has been a while (8years) though so my body has probably forgotten what to do! GrinGrinGrin

LoopyLa · 04/04/2012 07:33

Pheebs you must be close to me then due date wise? I hope so, not sure I like being the 'baby' of the group!! Envy

What's your EDD?

LoopyLa · 04/04/2012 07:37

MakeTea 15 weeks?! What does the 2nd trimester feel like?

babybrain3 · 04/04/2012 07:58

Has anyone looked at their scan photo in light of the nub theory?? I just had a look at mine and think it may be a boy, however the Chinese calendar thing says it's a girl. Confused I'm obviously taking the theories with a pinch of salt, and not going to decorate the nursery on the basis of the results or anything, but thought it would be fun to look, and just wondered if anyone else had looked and what results they got? Wink
