Hooray for the good news Bubble! Grin Now we're all jealous that you get to see your little one twice in one week.

Nub theory has to be one of the best named theories I've ever heard of. DH and I both have a boy sort of feeling, but I think nub theory says it's a girl - which would at least make names easier because we can agree on girls names (probably - will we end up changing our minds completely when it arrives?) but haven't a clue about boys!

Loopy, I had to swot up on family pregnancy history for my midwife. Fortunately it was boringly healthy for the most part. Smile

Feel like I'm getting a cold today - all headache and stuffy nose. Go to work or hide at home?

pinpan · 26/03/2012 21:49

And the answer is... work at home! Thanks to my buddy who is going to deliver my laptop and a piece of cake. Grin

Emmiedarling · 27/03/2012 08:48

Hello! Thanks so much for all the support. Really kind of you all.

Bubble - soo pleased for you! I have my scan tomorrow too. So scared and excited at the same time!!!

Babybrain - I have also been thinking of names. I've currently got an equal number of boys and girls, although I have a feeling it's a boy.

I do have a bit of other news. Yesterday I saw the obst at the hospital. He was worried about my cervix (I've perviously had two bouts of cervical cancer)
So i have been booked in for a cervical stitch in two weeks time.

Is anyone else going through similar?

Whilst I'm on with the questions, anyone else putting weight on like there's no tomorrow? (or is it just all those easter eggs i've been scoffing)

Looking forward to everyone's news x

LoopyLa · 27/03/2012 09:00

Morning ladies.

Just killing time before my booking appt - thanks to Popcorn, Gucci & pinpan for the heads up, I shall expect a yawn fest Wink!

I haven't heard of the nub theory but will be the last one to do it I expect - I shall let you know when my scan date is. I did do the bicarb test though & according to that I'll be having a girl Grin We'll see!

babybrain my DH and I have been discussing names before we even got married, lol! The boy's name has always been a done deal but the girl's name is being 'negotiated' Wink

Emmie yep also putting on loads of weight. I'm hoping when the magical 2nd trimester comes, I'll feel less sicky and less inclined to scoff but until then...munch, munc, munch!!!

Morning everyone, and welcome to the newbies. Do we need an updated list or shall we wait for everyone's scans this week?

Great news bubble

I've been lolling about in Cornwall this weekend in glorious sunshine - so hard to be back at work. My belly has now popped out - I can't suck it in and hide it any longer - so have spent the morning buying maternity tops

LoopyLa · 27/03/2012 12:05

Thunderboltkid I really like Tabitha too but I also like Mia, Holly (both veto'd!) and Isabelle. If we want a boy, I want him to have DH's dads name as a middle name 'Michael' , if it's a girl, my mum's name as a middle name so 'Carol' - its also DH's mums middle name so works outs quite nicely!

Boy = Joshua Michael
Girl = not sure, any thoughts on what would sound nice with Carol in the middle?!!

What about everyone else?

Saw the MW for my booking appt, she was lovely and impressed I'd done my 'homework' on family illnesses Grin Just want my scan date to come through!!

Emmiedarling · 27/03/2012 12:27

I love catching up with everyone's news!!!

Okay for me, name's wise:

Boy: Hugo, Freddie or Jack
Girl: Imogen, Adelaide, Emmie-rose or Allowet

Loopyla - Hope you made it through your booking appointment!!!
HeyMicky - Yup my belly is out and proud!

Thunderboltkid yes, Holly Carol does sound a bit much, lol!!

Grin

Emmie also like Jack but a friend got there first!! Emmie-Rose is super pretty too :)

HeyMicky · 27/03/2012 12:44

Current faves are Eliza Dorothy for a girl and Leo George for a boy (family names for middle names in both cases)

Emmie I don't think I'm familiar with your last girl's name?

Bubblebell1 · 27/03/2012 13:08

Thanks girls. I'm so relieved. Smile

I'm swelling up. Feel like such a fattie Sad

We already have our names.
Boy is Stanley Ray and girl is Emily Charlotte.

Hope scan goes ok gizzy

emmie I had problems with my cervix too and am having it measured tomorrow to seen if I will need a stitch. Hopefully not Grin

MakeTeaNotWar · 27/03/2012 13:57

Loopy my middle name is Carol! I was due at Christmas but arrived 10 days later...narrowly escaped being called Noelle!!

For a boy, it will be Tadhg Ray and still not sure for a girl, maybe Maebh (Maeve). I'm Irish and DH is South African and he has already vetoed tonnes of girls names that I like as he mangled the pronunciation. DD is Sadhbh (sive to rhyme with five) which is easy to say here in the UK once you know how - but not from looking at it I know.

DH is away snowboarding all week and the time is dragging. Been a mare logistically with teams of babysitters getting here for 6am so I can get off to work and they can get her up and dressed for nursery then bring her home again in the evening and wait for me to get back. DH has our best man's stag coming up but wait for it - in November and in Vegas! Now cost aside (and we really could do with investing in a car rather than a stag), would any of you mind being left alone for a long weekend with a 2 year old and an infant? AIBU?

MissPenteuth · 27/03/2012 14:00

Hi all, I've been lurking and trying to keep up, sorry for lack of posting. Glad to hear of scans going well, and really pleased to hear your good news bubble, I can imagine how relieved you must be. I've got my scan on Saturday, when I'll be 13w. Already had one scan at 9w+6 but was too early to take any measurements. I'm equal parts excited and scared; once it's over (assuming all good news) I think the pregnancy will feel a lot more real for me.

Will you all hate me if I admit that I haven't put on any weight yet? My last pregnancy was the same, I lost my appetite in early pregnancy but piled on three stone in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters to make up for it. I'm hoping to not put on quite as much this time; losing it wasn't too hard with one DC (did exercise DVDs while she napped) but that will be near impossible with a toddler and a newborn. I'm also starting out half a stone heavier than last time. I guess my body will gain as much as it needs to, but I definitely remember stuffing myself with chocolate in the last month or so (out of boredom, mainly). Maybe I'll miraculously develop some willpower this time Grin

We haven't really discussed names yet, but we already have an Isobel. I like Mathilda for a girl (nn Tilly). I can always think of more girls' names that I like than boys'!

MissPenteuth · 27/03/2012 14:05

Cross-posts MakeTea. Frankly I'm not keen on being left alone for days with just a 2yo, never mind an infant as well! If DH is away for more than one night (which, coincidentally, he is later this week) I tend to take DD and visit relatives somewhere. Although with a newish baby as well I'd probably convince them to do the travelling and visit me instead :) Do you have any family you can rope in for something similar?

Guccigirl79 · 27/03/2012 14:11

Maketea I would most definately mind!!! My DP was asked to go on a stag to Vegas in the summer but I'm afraid I did put the kybosh on it.If he went it would mean no holiday this year for us & also he wasn't going there without me lol Grin hope that helps,I'm not a mean old cow I just think it's a massive ask if you dont have mega money coming in & with how the current climate is.We also have 5 weddings to go to this summer some of which include stag/hen events so just couldn't stretch to it.

RE names;we have had a loose discussion about names but no avail, however,DP was very firm that if it's pink then she should have my Mum's name as a middle name or to include it somehow (my Mum is no longer here) which I thought was very touching & if she were still here she'd tell him not to be so soft pmsl

CaptainHetty · 27/03/2012 17:55

We've talked about names, but most of ours are quite unusual so I've kept relatively quiet on them as people can be rather opinionated on baby names! We quite like Rex, Ryu or Thane for a boy. Really have trouble with girls names and cannot agree on anything but we do both like Kairi so that's a possibility.

Emmiedarling · 27/03/2012 20:32

heymicky - Allowet was the name of a very eccentric aunt my father had. I thought it sounded sweet. I think it may be french. I also just looked at how you actually spell it and it's Alouette.

What do you think? Very keen on having family names!

GizzyBoo · 27/03/2012 20:32

Eeeeeeeek

There is a baby in there! A real life wriggling and squiggling baby! It is lovely.

All is as it should be.

Will catch up properly from home on Thursday xxx

Great news Gizzy :) Hope you're enjoying your Glasgow mini-break.

MsInterpret · 27/03/2012 20:47

Hurray gizzy! Thanks

Keeping schtum about our name ideas as none are firm at the moment and it was about the only thing we managed to keep schtum on last time!

Hope all's well with everyone else and the MS is still on the wane. Mine's very slight now if I haven't had food for ages.

Tiredness still present and correct . Off to bed x

Beeblebear · 27/03/2012 21:02

Emmiedarling are you aware of the alouette song?
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alouette_(song)

My DH is dead set on using my Aunt's dog's name if it's a boy. There might be nails coming out on that one!

beeblebear - Now that you remind me...I do know that awful song! I hadn't twigged until u said.

Hmmm, well that puts a different spin on things I guess. I can imagine teasing may ensue if I name her (if that's what it is!) Alouette.

Congrats Gizzyboo!

Okay, on another health note. Anyone got eczema? I had it as a child but since pregnancy it has hit me hard. My eyelids, my face, my arms..Think i may have to go to the doc with it as it's so painful!

Beeblebear · 28/03/2012 02:53

Back to the drawing board!

I had eczema as a child and it seems to be reappearuing on my legs where the top of my boots rub.
