Okay, so I have finally started the new thread.
All right everyone?

I have been awake most of the night with contractions of some sort or another. A really tight bump for most of the night. Things seem to have a settled down a bit but I've had a lovely brown globular show this morning. Contractions are still niggling but my midwife said it is fairly easy to 'put the lid on them' at this stage with a bath and some painkillers to give myself a little more time. Basically, she's not ready, dh is not ready and I'm still not ready yet...
I will be by tonight though. Have decided I need to put my stuff in it's bag and sort out house today. So here goes....

I must admit I like Balamory

Though Storymakers with the man who used to be Cat in Red Dwarf is the best thing (as part of the bedtime routine for dd)

Do you think I would be mad to try and delay induction if my Bishop Score is low - or should I just get on with it?

Flamesparrow · 08/02/2006 11:55

Just looked at my bank balance... my lack of council tax has already been spent . I think its down to takeaways and grapes (have to buy grapes in supermarkets, and end up coming out with all these extra things...).

Money is mess... just another joyous thing to worry about.

Argh. Annoyed with myself.

I have been wondering that hotmama. Was that the same chap who played the Cat in Red Dwarf? Winston Wordsmith or whatever.

Flame, tell me about it. I have to make a great effort to avoid the supermarket. I always find other things that I need to buy.

Who is still driving by the way? I have stopped now as it's far too uncomfortable. I haven't driven in about a week now.

Hotmama, So long as your placenta flow is still good then it is fine to delay induction for up to 3 weeks I think (3 weeks is the absolute point where your placenta will start to fail)
I fully agree with wanting to avoid induction where possible. Your chances of a section increase to 25% and both ladies from my NCT group who where induced both ended in a section.
Good luck and I hope you post on here to let us know how you got on!!

I can't remember who mentioned about DP/ DH smelling of onions...that was not horrid of you at all! My DH did it with garlic mushrooms mid pregnancy and I kicked him out of the bedroom in the end because the stench was dreadful! We had a major barney over it

Helen38 · 08/02/2006 12:21

Hotmama, only you can know what is right for you. I would not have a prob with being induced again from my experience of it if i didn't now have a scar from c-sec. but you need to go with what feels right for you, lets hope that things have changed enough for them to be able to try a sweep first.

I'm still driving although getting into our discorery is getting tricky but if i didn't drive I'd have to walk to and from school 3 times a day which i normally do but am not up to with the SPD. Shame really, the hill could be just what i need to get me going

Yes is red dwarf guy in story makers, he must of been really skint

hotmama · 08/02/2006 12:26

MrsD - yep John Jules-something plays Milton Wordsworth (very literary don't you think )

I think I ovulated late at about day 17 (hence being pregnant - thought I was 'safe') but they work out your edd based on the day of your last period - hence 10 days overdue.

Getting my dialy period type pains and backache - I wish it would just develop into labour - so irritating!

hotmama · 08/02/2006 12:27

I'm still driving - which is quite good as I am quite short 5.4 so need to be close to the steering wheel.

Helen38 · 08/02/2006 12:36

Danny John-Jules

Think positive hotmamma they must be doing something

MrsDoolittle · 08/02/2006 12:38

That describes it exactly hotmama. The low down back ache and periodly type pains, not like BH atall.
I'm getting them all the time.
I also seem to be leaking little bits aswell, feeling so heavy, but having been down that road about two weeks ago and nothing (It was put down to natural prostaglandin therapy), I'm afraid to bring it up again. Don't want to cry wolf.
Everyone wants me to hold onto him until Friday. It's my brothers 30th birthday, dh wants the day off and my friend is working on the delivery suite!
So I am just pottering around now.
It's an absolutely sumptious day here. I really ought to have another little trudge around the village.

(whispers) cuffyj1 might be in labour, just spent all morning with her, she didnt want me to post, but just spoke to her, she says i can,
oh am soooooooooo excited

Flamesparrow · 08/02/2006 13:06

I'm back from Asda - I was good, only got the essentials (and grapes )... realised that since payday I have had a £30 trip to the dentist as well, and by the time we add in takeaways, easy meals and the odd cute baby outfit, it is now very very clear where the £100 council tax money went!

I got a grand total of 5 things in Asda, didn't even have to walk right round the shop, and I feel like this child is falling out of me. Still driving, although it does start to hurt a lot after a few minutes.

Considered the sex plan last night, but DH wasn't keen either - think he's remembering how much hassle we had trying to find a decent position last time, and it kind of spoilt the mood. D'ya think a turkey baster would work?? You could team it up with something battery operated so that you still get the contracting . Am I sounding a touch desperate now???

Chloe55 · 08/02/2006 13:09

Oh Hotmama, how frustrating for you. I would prob try to put off induction if you are really worried about it - you don't want added stresses to your labour as it is and then at least you will have given baby every chance to come out on her own accord, providing she is content in there and placenta is still working well.

LOL at the onion story. I must admit if I get a whiff of garlic on DH at the moment I have to go and eat some just in case I go into labour, couldn't stand the thought of having him breath with me stinking to high heaven!

Chloe55 · 08/02/2006 13:11

Thought somehting must be happening with Cuffy - keep us up-dated Trace if she'll let you

trace2 · 08/02/2006 13:15

will do she 15 mins apat but mw rang while i was there wanted her to go in for blood presure checking ,until she told them about pains, she said just wait coz i think you;ll be in today,
shes getting some 7 mins then some 15, but yes shes in labour, i saw her face when she gets them,

will keep you all upto date

MrsDoolittle · 08/02/2006 13:35

Now this is getting exciting. Gooo cuffy!!

Thell · 08/02/2006 14:51

Woohoo! It's all go here today!

I have cleared most of our cardboard boxes out to the back yard, and we have a new rug in the living room, so our house is definitely looking more like a home . I'm beginning to get used to the idea of having a baby again! Would still prefer to wait til birth pool has arrived and midwife phoned!! DH is getting impatient for his paternity leave to start - he knows it will be hard work, not a holiday, but would rather be pampering his knackered wife and new daughter than the geezers at the office!

My feet and lower legs are really swollen, and don't go down overnight anymore .
Doc checked bp and protein still ok, so she said just to put feet up regularly. But there's so much to do!!
She also said that beanie felt completely engaged to her - which didn't surprise me. When she moves around now it feels like she is screwing herself down into my pelvis - some very uncomfortable aches and paind shoot through my pelvis and down my legs. Don't mind if it works, but don't like the idea that she might be tight for space! [nervous side-glances]

Very excited about news on Tabs and Cuffy and good look to the others who are due. Fingers are firmly crossed.

Jasnem · 08/02/2006 15:01

Hello, first of all good luck Tabs and Cuffy.
I've read the bits i've missed, but brain not together ehough to comment.
I spent a fun night in hospital last night, and got home an hour ago after dicharging myself
I got serious chest pains last night, and ended up getting ambulance into hosp ( so all the neighbours now assuming i've had baby). Ambulance took me to wrong hospital, for no reason I can work out, and after tons of tests and needles decided I needed a scan to rule out PE. Spent all night listening to woman opposite me snoring, and eventually today got Dr to admit scan can't be done before tomorrow.

Baby monitoring did point out that I am having contractions on a fairly regular basis, but not painful as yet, and am not at all dilated, so not getting my hopes up.
OK, I am a bit, as by hte time I felt the need for pain relief with DD1 I was fully dilated, so am hoping that this one may be coming a bit early....please.

Thell · 08/02/2006 15:05

Good luck Jasnem!!
How is your chest now? Are you still having problems, or did it sort itself out?

Flamesparrow · 08/02/2006 15:12

Hope you're doing ok Jas, and the chest pains have gone. I didn't know that chest pains could be PE related!

I'm hurting LOTS . This better be things getting started slowly, or I'm going to be very bitter for the next few weeks being in this much pain!!!

DH has come home early, apparantly dying. He's in the bath right now, but I'm ousting him soon, and having one myself

Frizbetheexpansionset · 08/02/2006 15:15

Yeah! trace2 thanks for the info on Cuffy j, go girl and Tabs too! more babies at last!

Hotmama, don't worry hon, it will be you soon, like you said you were late ov so therefore more time cooking, get them to delay induction for a few more days.

FS, re bank balance, didn't your dentistry come free on your maternity expemption card?

Chloe, ta re my friend, I've sent flowers to his wife....not sure if she'll be homeless soon too, as house and his job came together

Mrs D, boy do I ever!! and to top it all dd is now asleep on the sofa! has been for an hour, so going to wake her up very shortly.....

Well my scan went ok, I'm fully engaged! so no good photos of my baby as only brief bit of chin to be seen on scan, which was rather odd to say the least! so got back home and went to get my pethadine perscription and yep you guessed it, none of the pharmacies in town carry the required dose, they all have to order it in....so its now on order for tomorrow! (fingers x'd I don't kick off tonight.......) also had the joy of my bloods being re done, as midwife forgot to tell me, the last lot they took (32/34wks) had gone wrong! doh!

Here's hoping for some babies soon then!

Jasnem · 08/02/2006 15:37

Chest pain had stopped by the time I got to hospital, but once you're there, they don't seem to want to let you go.
Very glad I won't be havingmy baby there though, it was a bit of a dump, and the midwife I had this morning was verging on incompetant.

Flame - I've given up worrying about money - we've been living on borrowed money for over a month, and DP is getting desperate in the job hunt.
just so you know you're not alone

Chloe55 · 08/02/2006 15:37

Most of you seems to be showing some positive labour signs, I felt sure I would go into labour befoe my due date as have been having niggles for a couple of weeks now but I think reality is hitting and like you have been Hotmama, I have a feeling I may still be sat here 2 weeks from now having to listen to everyone else have babies I know it's silly and they will all come when there ready but I just seem to be a bit 'this is never gonna happen' about things now

Sorry to hear about your crap night in hospital Jasnem - what's PE? (other than that thing where a big butch woman makes you climb up ropes and wear short skirts)

Helen38 · 08/02/2006 15:38

you are all going to have babies and i'll be sat here all on my own

Jasnem · 08/02/2006 15:39

Pulmonary Embolism - blood clot on the lung (not good if I did have it, but I'm fairly confident I don't, and the tests that they did do weren't suggesting it)
