Hello ladies! I can't wait to see how many No Brooking babies arrive during the course of this thread!! Do you realise we have now filled SEVEN threads (and that's just the graduates!) That's 7000 posts and counting!

Let's all get settled in for some serious No Brooking, we have a lot of painless sneeze births to get through over the next couple of weeks!

DreamingOfPeace · 14/03/2012 17:31

Oh, how did sole child care go biscuits? Or is it still ongoing?!?

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 14/03/2012 17:44

She went down from 6lb 5 to 5lb 10, so just over the 10% margin. Still, we woke her up with difficulty after 3 hours, and after a bit of on and off, backwards and forwards she finally settled down to feed and fed for 10 minutes and then another 10 or 15 after some burping and a nappy change. I feel happier with that.

Any news, Farfalla? Thinking of you.

farfallarocks · 14/03/2012 17:45

there is a heartbeat!! The most beautiful flicker I have ever seen.
Measuring 6+3
I was so happy I hugged the sonographer and he looked very embarassed Blush
Obviously a longway to go yet but the best news we could hope for.
Thank you so much for your support.
The brooking. It Works!!

musicalmrs · 14/03/2012 17:49

Hi all! Sorry for the lack of posting, but our internet at home has been down the last couple of days. Have to do some work tonight though, so have tethered my phone and am ignoring how hefty the bill may be when it comes in..

Farfalla, that's brilliant news, congratulations! So glad you got to see a flickery heart beat :) Hope that's raised your spirits no end. The brooking is a wonderful thing!

Scream, wonderful news about your CS! What a wonderful outcome. So glad that consultant C was one who was lovely and listened! Hurrah for your independent MW too!

Popcorn, hurrah for being midwife approved! Not so sure about pickled cabbage though! I've had no real cravings - so very boring!

Fishcake, hurrah for a great appointment and good growth. Glad the BP calmed down as well.

Biscuits, so sorry to hear about the stitches. I hope the healing is as quick as possible... and that someone who knows more about these things will have some wonderful words of advice to help you out.

Ninja, sorry you're feeling so rubbish. Hurrah about the valuation and potential moving though, exciting!

Dream, brooking for your appointment tomorrow. I'm sure Twin 2 will be fabulously large and everything will be wonderful!

Too, sorry Maia has lost more than 10%... but as you say, if she's tiny, then it's not such a big amount! Try not to panic- remember you're a wonderful No Brooking mum! :)

Had some good news today about a performance of one of my works in London (yay!), so I've been on a cloud all day - despite all the rib and back pain that seem to be constantly plaguing me. I also think I'm in danger of living off of Rennies in the not too distant future!

Have also finalised all my working days - looks like although I'll be working at home quite a bit, I only have 11 working days in London left! Hurrah!

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 14/03/2012 17:52

Too I'm sure Maia will be back up to birth weight in no time! Just persevere with it, it sounds like you know exactly how to go about it and it's just a matter of time!

Biscuits that sounds so frustrating about your stitches! Poor you! :( Lots of No Brooking coming your way to speed up the healing process! I hope your afternoon with both your tiny men went well, and that your DH is home now to give you a break! When will he be able to start paternity leave properly?

How are all the other Mamas? Hawthers, Purple and Pomme? Hope all is well!

Dream how frustrating to have a cranky DD and and a cranky DH. I think you should just leave them to each other and head off for a quick nap Wink Fingers crossed for more smiles in the Dream household soon!

Hoping for good news from Farfalla soon!

Yay Farfalla - that is excellent news. And so pleased you got to see the heartbeat! So so delighted! GrinGrinThanks

Too glad you've had a good feed - us too Smile. This brooking is marvellous Smile. My left boob is decidedly sore though - both from the poor latch and also down the side in a blocked duct kind of way - need to work out how to improve that Confused

Forgotten who else posted....

jenfraggle · 14/03/2012 17:53

That's brilliant news Far, glad the power of no brooking is working

NinjaChipmunk · 14/03/2012 17:55

farfalla I am so bloody chuffed for you, such brilliant newsGrin. What happens now, do you get rescanned soon? Or wait for booking in appt and 12 week scan? The power of no brooking once again....Grin

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 14/03/2012 17:58

Oops! Missed Farfalla's news through slow one-handed typing! Yay for the flickery heartbeat!! That's wonderful news!! Well done on excellent baby baking so far, and to lots more exciting scans to come!

Also hooray for Musical's good news! Tell us more about the performance?

DreamingOfPeace · 14/03/2012 18:04

Fantastic news far, absolutely wonderful. Thanks Grin . Settle in for the duration :-) Sonographers must be used to tears and emotions, they give such good or such bad news on a day to day basis. I cried on mine when had 2 heartbeats at 14 weeks after loads of pain..tears of relief!!

Biscuitsandtea · 14/03/2012 18:05

Oh Dream / Scream, the child care was ok - mostly Ethan was asleep so easy peasy! Then of course he woke up wanting a feed just as I'm cooking ds's tea Confused. Still I managed to get food in them both Smile. Not too bad but of course DS1 wants to sit on me too, or cuddle DS2 etc. Feel a bit like a climbing frame!

pommedechocolat · 14/03/2012 19:28

Jaggy - thanks for that. Will have a go with some muslin at taking her off and catching flow. At the moment expressing before doesn't seem to work as I don't get anything out really until she has triggered let down.

I think we're hitting our first growth spurt so am hanging in there and trying to be creative at entertaining poor old dd1.

Farfalla - WHOOP WHOOP. Awesome and reassuring news. The power of brooking indeed :)

Too - Brooking for Maia to regain her birth weight asap. Surely no need to feed on the sofa at night though? Just use lots of pillows behind you. That's what I do.

Biscuits - So sorry to hear about your stitches. Stupid mw! The cs/vb decision you and dream have/are facing is a real catch 22. You just can't know what will give you the best outcome. I am in awe of you both for even making sense of the choice really! Oh, and I also feel like a climbing frame. DD1 always, always wants cuddles as I start feeding Abbie. She has been such a good girl the last couple of days - I can see and feel her being all stoic in the face of this huge change and it melts my heart. Poor thing.

jaggythistle · 14/03/2012 20:10

I suppose I must have waited till letdown too to skoosh a bit. Blush seems and awful long time ago so I can't really remember! I did quite like reading that thread about me and wee DS, had a wee rummage through my old threads, it was weird reading about him being a wee baby!

scarletfingernail · 14/03/2012 20:17

Fantastic news Farfalla, I'm absolutely delighted for you. What a brilliant scan that must have been for you. When is the next one?

Biscuits so sorry to hear about the stitches Sad, it sounds bloody miserable. You did a tremendous job looking after the 2 DC on your own so soon this afternoon, I'm in awe Smile

Fishcake fab that the baby is growing well. Boo to the high BP, brooking that it stays down for you now.

Popcorn hooray for being officially preggo. Not long til your scan then, exciting stuff.

Too sorry to hear about Maia's weight loss. I'm sure she'll get that all back on in no time, we're brooking after all.

Ninja being sick sucks Sad Sorry to hear you've not been well, I hope it's all passed now.

Brooking for dream tomorrow. You WILL have a good scan. Twin 2 WILL be a whopper.

Hooray for only 11 working days Musical, that's fab!

Had a nice quiet day here, the madness starts again tomorrow. Been on my ball a lot, but can still feel the shape of a head under my ribcage Sad

DreamingOfPeace · 14/03/2012 22:16

I am in despair. It is 10pm. DD still crying in her room. She won't/can't go to sleep again. WTF am I going to do when there's three of them?! I'm exhausted but can't go to bed and listen to that... So far tonight we've put her to bed and left her for an hour and a half- not asleep, DH has sung to her to help settle her- not asleep, I have sat in her room for 40 min- not asleep... She looks knackered, was tired when put down. sad . now horribly over-tired and howling.... New plan- massive effort to bring naptime earlier and avoid any overstimulation in the afternoon, but now, in my tired and hormonal state I can't see how we're going to do this when the babies arrive in 21 days.... Have a sneaking suspicion coming down, bursting into tears and generally not getting on with dh because I'm such a hormonal bitch doesn't help the overall situation... I should stay off mn while feeling so morose!!!

Glad you managed with them both so soon biscuits, well done you!

No way am I watching OBEM. Enough tears here already tonight!!

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 14/03/2012 22:20

Oh no, I forgot all about OBEM! Damn. We're in the middle of watching the latest Twilight film (at Mum's instigation Grin) so I can't watch it on C4+1 either.

Farfalla, that's brilliant, I'm so pleased!

Pomme, I think in bed I just keep sliding forward - combination of a curved headboard and a memory foam mattress that I sink into. Hopefully it'll only be the next few nights and then she'll have put enough weight on and we'll have sorted out our latching problems.

Yay for only 11 days working in London left, Musical!

NinjaChipmunk · 14/03/2012 22:23

oh dream you poor love. I wish I could suggest something that would work right now. Earlier daytime nap sounds like a plan. What time does she go to bed? maybe slowly bring that forward by half an hour or so over the course of a week? Its so hard to reason with them when they are so small, they just don't understand that they need sleep! Can you get your hormonal ovetired self to bed and let your dh deal with it tonight?

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 14/03/2012 22:25

Oh, Dream, you poor thing! I hope you get some sleep tonight and everything looks better in the morning.

fishcakefoxtrot · 15/03/2012 08:10

Glad to hear you are officially booked in popcorn and
Hooray for the heartbeat far! that is amazing! I bet the monographer was secretly delighted to get a hug, appointments like that would surely be a real highlight.

dream I really hope you got to bed. Bringing the nap forward seems like a good plan. I wish I had some useful advice but things were pretty bad here until dd was nearly 2- so I send Brew instead. Am sure GF, who I don't normally rate, says something about protein at lunchtime, rather than tea- will look it up if it sounds useful?

What time is your appt? Am brooking no argument that all will be progressing marvellously of course.

biscuits will brook no argument that healing will now occur swiftly.

too hope the night time feeding went well. When is the midwife back? Dd was tiny to begin with and I reckon a badly timed poo or large wee could make a huge difference to her weight in the early days Grin

Hope you are feeling better ninja, and exciting news about potential house moves!
Good morning to everyone else. I am going to get the first draft ofthe report I am writing completed today and on that I definitely brook no argument Grin

PopcornMouseInBoots · 15/03/2012 09:52

Oh dream :(
Could you buy some earplugs and let DH deal with it for an evening? I hope that doesn't sound too heartless, it just really sounds like you need some sleep :( :(

And biscuits - OUCH! Shock

pommedechocolat · 15/03/2012 10:07

Definitely a growth spurt here. When she's awake she's feeding. Up every two hours during the night. Had to interrupt her this am as dd1 said her ears hurt and docs had an appointment straight away so we had to rush up there. She screamed and screamed and screamed poor mite. Nothing wrong with dd1 either.

Doctor helpfully told me that Abbie is still jaundiced and I should feed her lots!! Thanks for that...

Dream - did you sleep? Really hope you did. Early nap time is all i'd think of too.

Too - How did your night feeding go?

farfallarocks · 15/03/2012 10:27

Thanks for all the brooking and whooping!! Next scan in 3 weeks.

dream you sound like you had a terrible night, poor you! I am no expert obviously but could you do a bit of controlled crying, going in every 2 mins, then 3 then 5, then 10 so she knows you are there? I am sure you have tried that already or don;t want to for various reasons. A couple of friend's have used that method with great success after 4/5 nights of crying, specifically in preparation for the arrival of number 2!! best of luck with you appointment.

jaggy I have often thought how cool it will be to have a 'record' of how I was feeling at different times on mumsnet, its almost like a bit of a diary.

Hands round muffins

PopcornMouseInBoots · 15/03/2012 10:43

Ok, soppy story of the day... I was hard at work lying on the bed yesterday and DH lay down with his head on my tummy to he could "give dragonfruit a hug" Ahhhhh :)

pommedechocolat · 15/03/2012 11:13

That's very cute popcorn!

DreamingOfPeace · 15/03/2012 12:00

Thanks all, she finally gave up bit after 10:30... Urgh.... To not try everything at once we are going to do earlier nap and then less stimulation pm. Hmm.

Just managed to get back from her music group. Blinking morning sickness, have had to dive out of car, puking vigorously into our front garden for the benefit of the neighbours... Hmm . Thank goodness dh home, and my mum here now to have dd while we go for scan (2:55, then ANC as usual), she's just done a poo and i just couldn't have changed her/ do lunch now... Grim.

That's so sweet popcorn, how lovely!

Just push on through the growth spurt pomme while chanting 'this too shall pass' through gritted teeth...
