And wants, a creme egg survived in your house for over a week Shock . Respect. I couldn't do that!

Biscuitsandtea · 14/02/2012 10:37

Ah, we're not all romantics you know! We don't do valentines day at all really. Normally we would cook a nicer meal than an ordinary day but I've not even bothered with that this year - I'm so idle.

No cards or pressies though and we're too tight to pay to go out on valentines day.

Although as DH and I were lying awake at 20 past 12 discusses ore various illnesses he did notice it was gone midnight and wished me happy valentines day. It hadn't occurred to me at all Blush

Biscuitsandtea · 14/02/2012 10:38

Ore? Our various illnesses I mean

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 14/02/2012 11:09

I'm a sucker for Valentines Day. The first year we were together DH completely forgot and there was hell to pay! Grin He tends to remember now tho... Wink

The flowers (glimpsed at yday) are gorgeous! A dozen red roses mixed in with a dozen yellow/pink roses, and some general foliage. It's huge Grin Plus there's a mini mountain of chocolate to go with it. DH used to buy me expensive chocolate, because he thought it was more romantic, and I used to pretend to like it because it was a gift. Then someone else bought me some expensive chocolate and I commented to DH how much I dislike it (I'm a total philistine - I like my chocolate to have minimum cocoa and maximum sugar, therefore I genuinely prefer galaxy over godiva!) since then he just buys me cheap newsagent chocolates (which I LOVE) and buys it in vast quantities to compensate Grin It's a perfect system!

He liked my shortbread as well! (Or if he didn't like it he had a whole night to perfect his reaction to the gift, lol). Plus I made him a card, and the front of it was the first ever picture taken of us together, on a trip to Amersterdam a few weeks after we met. He seemed to really like it Grin

We usually go out for dinner on Valentines Day but that's not really an option this year. So I thought it would be slightly depressing to be immobile and stuck at home having takeaway for the first time, but DH came up with a surprisingly romantic plan! The first part of our honeymoon was in Tuscany, and while we were there we had a private Italian cooking lesson which including making pasta from scratch. We filmed the lesson, and DH's suggestion was to watch the video together and then try to recreate the meal for the first time! I'm amazed at his creativity! So I'm really looking forward to that later.

Wants I am also amazed and impressed with the life expectancy of a creme egg in your house! That is incredible willpower!

I share in the general itchiness around. I've recently stepped up my bio oil usage from once a day to twice a day (mainly because my bump feels so tight all the time!) and I think that's why my bump doesn't itch much. However the rest of my body, including my scalp, is definitely itchy! Bio oil is a little too expensive for me to use it anywhere other than my torso though...!

Ninja best of luck for your scan!! Can't wait for you update. I think this the 20 week one, right? Are you finding out the gender? (Apologies if I should already know this).

I hope the colds, rib pain, and impetigo improve today. I really feel for you all! Still No Brooking at full strength for better health for all preggos and DC!

pommedechocolat · 14/02/2012 11:09

I got a card and chocolates which was nice and he's cooking steak tonight which is even better!

Will try diff shampoo. I just really wondered if it's worrying on an itchy palms or soles of feet way. Dd has taken to imitating me doing it which is a bit gross!

Have been feeling really tired so doc said to get mw to test me on thurs for iron levels but have bought myself some spa tone this am to make sure.

Love your dd wanting to suck the prit stick dream.

Also loving the illness pillow talk biscuits!

Wants3 · 14/02/2012 11:50

Right, really must get out of bed, I have had breakfast here and pretty much read every active post but I have a stack of things to do! I am going to attempt to start my essay assignment after the usual household chores. I should have been seeing my sister today but her dd2 woke up with temp and covered in rash:(
I will check in later when no doubt there will be several more pages to catchup on!

pommedechocolat · 14/02/2012 11:53

This am I also received commiserations from the old bat in the pharmacy that I was having another girl not a boy. Grr. I'm really excited about having two girls - why is it not the same as having one of each?!

NinjaChipmunk · 14/02/2012 12:14

We're back and it's a girl! Just going to have some lunch so quick post. Got to go back at 32 weeks for another scan to check placenta has moved a bit as is low lying.

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 14/02/2012 12:36

Oooooo congrats Ninja!!! Another girl to add to the No Brookers' list, good good - we're a bit outnumbered!

Pomme what an irritating comment! Why would someone think they even know what you want, let alone presume to "comfort" you! Silly old bat! I for one am very glad to have you on team girl! Personally I'd love to have all girls! I remember that before you knew the gender you were wondering if it'd be nice to have a boy this time, but once you knew it was a girl you were very happy! As anyone would be! So congrats again to you as well!

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 14/02/2012 14:00

Yay for a girl, Ninja! Brooking for the placenta to move nicely too.

I feel all unromantic and grumpy about Valentine's Day. I have failed to do anything for DH and now I am cross because he didn't do anything for me (unreasonable emoticon). Once upon a time he bought me a little pink pearl necklace for Valentine's and I got all dressed up in sexy underwear Sad. I feel about as sexy as a space hopper at present. We were going to go buy steak for dinner on our way home, but I feel bad for not doing a surprise. It is too late now because I can't get anywhere with nice shops between now and when he picks me up from work. Stupid work! I kind of want to make something like heart-shaped biscuits but it's a bit late now. Grumble, grumble, grumble.

OP posts:
NinjaChipmunk · 14/02/2012 14:09

Aw too don't be grumpy. Me and do don't do anything either. I have bought lamb shanks for dinner, currently no idea how to cook them. That's as romantic as it'll get I think. Can you stop off on your way home for a nice 'whack it all in the oven and chill out' kind of dinner? And some nice pudding?

DreamingOfPeace · 14/02/2012 14:27

Hooray for a lovely healthy girl ninja! And you get to see her again at 32 weeks, when of course your placenta will be nicely out of the way. People say to me 'oh isn't it nice they're boys when you already have a girl' and it never fails to wind me up a treat. In fact, I almost wish they were both girls just so people don't think it'll be 'perfect' with children of both sexes... and I would love another little girl at some point, highly unlikely unless its with the milkman . pomme, I would be totally delighted with two girls, and wad almost hoping for another girl for them playing together nicely, hand me down clothed etc. I can't imagine these babies not being boys now, but I just hope they don't leave dd out and all play together...

I will be doing nothing for Valentine's day. My cold may be bad enough to term man-flu so gets me out of it I think. I am less sexy than a space hopper, at least those don't have stretch marks...

pommedechocolat · 14/02/2012 14:28

ninja yay for a girl! Glad everything is good and brooking for a moving placenta.

scream I was worried I'd be disappointed if it was a girl as I grew up with a brother and the one of each thing is very widespread. I was however delighted when I found out and have been realising since what amazing relationships my friends have with their sisters as adults. I am also pretty girly!

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 14/02/2012 16:04

Sorry, that was a very grouchy post earlier! Am feeling better because we're about to skive off early and go buy something nice for dinner.

OP posts:
NinjaChipmunk · 14/02/2012 16:06

enjoy! I am about to head off and start the lamb shanks in red wine sauce (tis the nearest I'll get to alcohol for a while!).

pommedechocolat · 14/02/2012 16:11

I'm having a glass of red tonight! I can't do the whole totally alcohol free nine months - promise I'm not an alcoholic when not pg!

NinjaChipmunk · 14/02/2012 16:47

I'll admit to partaking of the champagne at Christmas! A bit is not going to do you any harm anyway. Mind you if you come back tomorrow saying you drank the whole bottle.........Grin

Wants3 · 14/02/2012 17:24

Well that was epic session working on my uni stuff, I have just finished and realised I missed lunch!
Ds1 is off out with his GF tonight so I will probably just bung a pasta bake in the oven for the rest of us so nothing romantic here.
On the subject of stretch marks, I haven't detected any new ones yet but my previous ones have become more prominent and I noticeed that they all radiate from my belly button. I would have expected them to be down my sides. What have other people got,if any?

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 14/02/2012 18:13

My stretch marks from pg no 1 grew up from my bikini line and reached my tummy button. This time the existing marks haven't gone red again, but they have grown little extensions which are red. So far the extensions are less than an inch long. It is weird. I also have red stretch marks on my hips. Oh well, they'll all fade eventually.

I want to drink champagne, but there didn't seem any point in buying a bottle when I manage three sips and it tastes too bitter to continue. Hopefully this will wear off! I have just scoffed two Creme Eggs instead.

OP posts:
ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 14/02/2012 18:33

I'm dreading the stretch marks - when do they show up? I keep gyrating in front of the mirror trying to see the underside of my bump to see if they've started yet!

DreamingOfPeace · 14/02/2012 18:35

Mine were mostly from my belly button last time. They are all red again, some new ones in line with belly button ones but to each side... Lots more with ages to go and bigger than last time already does not bode well!!

too, I have got 2 creme eggs for tonight too- 52p for one or 2 for 90p just means you ought to eat them two at a time....

Booze wise I have been pregnant or breastfeeding or both since December 2009 to now. I can't remember the last time I was drunk... and quite fancy getting drunk, probably because its banned for now

DreamingOfPeace · 14/02/2012 18:37

scream, you may escape them! I got them from about 35 weeks last time... Under the bump. Mostly down from belly button..

pommedechocolat · 14/02/2012 19:00

scream - I got none with dd and so far (37 plus 2) haven't got any. I'm really praying the last two weeks don't bring them! I have a friend who went to 42 weeks with both babies and had just one tiny one. I think it's luck/genetics although I use bio oil and palmers.

I have been drunk one since getting pg with dd - on my hen do!

Biscuitsandtea · 14/02/2012 19:04

Ninja great news for a good scan - and yay for a girl Grin. I'm sure we'll all agree this gives you the perfect 'one of each' mix GrinWink

I am of course kidding there based on earlier posts, just to be cleared

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 14/02/2012 19:22

I shouldn't worry about stretch marks anyway, it's been a loooooooooong time since I was willing to wear anything that shows my stomach!

Mmmmmmmm... had a yummy early dinner. Now enjoying (one) naughty glass of red wine. Perfection!

Happy Valentines everyone!!
