1,000 posts into the very popular September 2012 thread, here's a new one, for knicker checking, boob prodding, toilet rushing, oh and eating the entire contents of the fridge or McDonalds

Here's to our tiny beans and all the lovely ladies lost along the way.

Full steam ahead to booking in and positive scans aplenty.

Is anyone intending to find out their baby's gender before birth?

funchum8am · 26/02/2012 12:40

I do NOT like the sound of feeling stretch marks popping - you poor thing misscoffee. (Though I'll take popping over tearing during the birth...)

We're not going to find out the gender (not sure whether they will tell you in our area anyway) - we've just always said we wouldn't. I'm feeling like it's a girl though, but this is of course entirely unscientific.

claravet sorry to hear you feel hungover - and you haven't even had a drink! Worst of all possible worlds. What type of poker do you play?

I have learned to knit recently - is it too early at 10+3 to start knitting things for my own baby? My miscarriage fears have receded since mine were both at 6 weeks but I do know of several people who have had them up to 12 weeks...then again I had a friend whose baby was stillborn. If I leave it til I'm "sure" all is well I'll never get started!

WeeNurse27 · 26/02/2012 13:25

winky I know a lot of people who have found out the sex of the baby but I want a wee surprise.....and have convinced my other half of this too Smile am just going to get white and neutral coloured clothes and things, my lovely mum has offered to knit my shawl, and lots of white cardigans, booties and scratch mits! I love newborns in knitted clothes Smile xxx

Thali34 · 26/02/2012 13:52

Have come down with a dreadful cold and have had two bad nits, not able to sleep coz I can't breathe! In bed but it's been such lovely weather.

Normally Olbas Oil is my lifesaver when my nose is blocked, but the pharmacist told me not to use it!! She said inhale steam instead, but that doesn't really help for long.
Does anyone have any top tips for colds? Am longing for some Vicks or Olbas!!!! :(

MissCoffeeNWine · 26/02/2012 14:07

Yep not nice funchum hopefully I'll avoid that this time! Although no tearing during birth so that's good.

Knit away if you want to, I have a lot of baby things for a 'future baby' and I don't get upset by them after the baby is lost. Does that make sense. They're for a future baby, when I have one, of course I'm upset when I lose my babies but the stuff doesn't make it any worse, it wasn't theirs yet. If you wait for what ifs you will of course wait forever, I'm waiting for a baby I carry to 24 weeks + but that's personal preference having lost two in the second trimester, knitting/buying doesn't make things happen. Do you think you'd be upset by stuff if something were to happen? It's very personal choice I know.

I'd use olbas or vicks, personally thali - my general rule is if I'd use it on a baby I'll use it on me with a baby inside. Things not being tested in pregnancy is usually an ethics thing, doesn't always follow they're not safe. I wouldn't take decongestants but I'd have paracetamol and eucalytpus, hot lemon and honey.

Hope everyone ailing feels better soon.

funchum played Texas Holden, had no luck, lost big hands on a pair of aces, a flush and a straight, then allowed my self to be pushed of with a pair Kings only tO discover the only had a pair of 4's, I defo don't play as well sober too cautious!!!
So on top of feeling crap today, have slightly crampy feeling whic is probablypulling on my left ovary which I have had on and of for weeks now and have had couple tiny, feathery brown clots. The logical part of me says is old and just things cleaning out and at 9+5 I would probably know by now if things weren't in the right place and not to stay calm. The regnant me is obviously catastrophising that feeling rubbish is a bad thing and not a normal pregnancy thing. Think I have been feeling too well recently.
How come pregnancy is the only time we feel better when we feel rough and worry when we feel well!

CluelessMama · 26/02/2012 15:30

Thali34 I had one very bad night this week with a blocked nose, was tossing and turning in bed but found I could sleep on the sofa in a sort of propped up position where I felt I could breath better. Since then I've been in bed but with three pillows and slept much better. Might be worth a try?

I'm now 9+6, had my booking appintment yesterday and the midwife I met was absolutely lovely and totally put me at ease :) Also made it feel more real that I might actually be having a baby in seven months, felt quite excited about it all again afterwards :)

funchum8am · 26/02/2012 18:57

I have started the knitting - you're right, it's all for a future baby, whenever they may arrive. I don't think having "stuff" would upset me and I can always pack it out of the way so I don't drag it all out and pore over it if things do go wrong. FX.

Now I am going to end up spending a fortune on wool but I don't have massive levels of skill so will spend a LOT of time unravelling things, or end up with a bagful of half-finished things that the baby can't wear!

ballroomblitz · 26/02/2012 19:25

I just knit squares funchum. Maybe I'll sew them all up to make a blanket or something one of these days. Really wouldn't have the skill to be knitting clothes. It's just giving me something to keep me preoccupied at night because tv is rubbish.

Would play poker myself every now and again Claravet. Good fun and something different to do.

Kind of glad my scan is next week. Have been getting headaches every day and I want to make sure my bp is ok. I know it's probably my sinuses as every morning I'm stuffed up and there's a bit of blood up my nose. Want it checked anyway as last time I blamed my frontal heaches on sinuses and it wasn't.

Whatevertheweather · 26/02/2012 19:30

Hi all - so good to see all the positive scans. Who has scans this week? Mine is on Thursday when by my dates I'll be 13+ 1 so should be good and clear. I'm utterly paralysed with fear about it though. Im so scared it will be a mmc. I was just so excited for scans with dd1&2 never scared or worried. I've totally lost my confidence in being able to carry a healthy baby.

Sickness has completely gone which I am thankful for. We are going to find out the gender this time, never have before but think I need to this time.

Hope everyone has had a nice weekend xx

sasslejaney84 · 26/02/2012 19:31

I've got quite a few things already tbh, as you say, they don't belong to anyone yet, they are there for the baby that will come eventually!!

I've spent a wonderful weekend with my DSC, its been amazing to see em again!! Very tired though now, my youngest SD decided to try and get up at 5.30

I'm planning on finding out the sex of the baby, simply for the fact that EVERYONE I know who has had a baby in the last year has had a girl and I'll be inundated with clothes if its a girl and I'm gonna have to buy loads of clothes if its a boy!!

twizzlestix · 26/02/2012 20:41

We will also find out the gender, hopefully, if baby doesn't have it's legs crossed :) am thinking about getting a 3-d scan too at around 28 weeks.

MadMonkeys · 26/02/2012 21:03

We'll find out the gender if they can tell (they couldn't last time until I had an extra scan at 34 weeks due to pow lying placenta). The birth is so amazing that no amount of knowing the gender in advance will diminish it!

Thali34 · 26/02/2012 21:10

Thanks for the tips ladies, am tucking up for the night, and will try the pillows and also allow myself a bit of Olbas. Better to get sleep and get better than to lie there fretting all night I'm sure! Night all, and hope you all have a good Monday!

MissCoffeeNWine · 26/02/2012 22:35

I have one this week whatevertheweather I feel better about it as I had one last week as well so I have recent confirmation everything is OK and I haven't had any sign since that it's not. I have no confidence in myself to carry a healthy one either so you're not alone there. Only difference is I've always been terrified of scans as I lost my first baby as well as my third, I think I got about one week of excited pleasure with the first before the problems began culminating in my 14 week loss - things started to go wrong round 14 weeks with my 17 week loss as well so, as I'm nearly 12 weeks, this is the nervous time for me.

Yes I'll go for finding out the sex but it won't make any difference from a practical point of view, if it makes it it'll wear the exact same stuff and stay in the exact same room boy or girl. I just don't ever want to find out by post mortem result again, because thats really hard to take. Also Ill be having a scan round 16 weeks if all is still ok then so I might get a bit of a queue jump on the finding out thing, which would be nice.

twizzlestix · 26/02/2012 22:38

How long are you guys going to take your pregnancy vitamins for? I was toldfuc acid for 12 weeks but due to complete aversion to all veg and fruit am thinking of continuing my Pregnacare.

MissCoffeeNWine · 26/02/2012 22:51

Throughout pregnancy and well beyond I should think twizzlestix. I started taking them when ttc then throughout my last pregnancy, when run down after birth/mc didn't seem a good time to stop really, so didn't, ttced again, so have been taking them over a year, will carry on and then into BF if I do get a baby I should think.

Macaroons · 27/02/2012 08:24

twizzle I'm intending to take pregnacare throughout the whole pregnancy (I bought three 3 months pack at the 3 for 2 sale) in taking it more for the cocktail of other vitamins and calcium, then just folic acid.

Here comes Monday. Not my favourite day ... Was just thinking the other day, it's just over 5 months till maternity leave starts! Wink

lurkingmurking · 27/02/2012 08:43

MissCoffee I have everything crossed for you - you have helped us all through our nervous times so now we are here for you.

twizzle with DS I took Pregnacare all through pregnancy and then for the first 3 months or so as I felt quite run down and was surviving on cake so I thought a few multivitamins might help Grin I've been a bit rubbish at taking it this time around - need to come clean at work so I can leave some on my desk to remind me.

Good luck for everyone who has scans this week - I have to wait until next Friday it's too far away!

mrsd1980 · 27/02/2012 09:37

Just found this thread and happy to join! I'm 10+1 on my second PG. Scan in 2 weeks, can't wait!

Feeling very tired and struggling to cope with a VERY active 11 month DS, counting down the days until the second trimester and hopefully a bit more energy :)

Still on mat leave and scared to tell my boss I'm expecting again!!

Macaroons · 27/02/2012 12:24

Welcome mrsd!

misscoffee FX for you and your bean this time!

Good luck to those having scans this week!

Prunia · 27/02/2012 13:06

I started taking the pregnacare with the additional omega oil option. Will prob take it all the way through, am 11.4 today so am hoping that when the nausea & tiredness subside we'll all be flying on our vitamins!

I have my NT scan tomorrow at lunchtime, am so nervous but trying to stay positive for OH. Tbh nothing is going to work until I hear the results iykwim. None of the family know, if all is ok we'll tell them this week, might wait til next week to tell friends, just taking one step at a time. Last 3 pregnancies I told close friends but it didn't really make the recovery any easier, this time with the help of online forums like this I am enjoying the privacy.

I'm a yoga teacher so am really looking forward to being able to tell my regulars!

When's your scan misscoffee ? Anyone else have scans this week?

TinkerMaloo · 27/02/2012 13:08

I officially look pregnant now! :)

and people are starting to touch my tummy... (get your hands off me!)

Prunia · 27/02/2012 13:10

whatevertheweather just spotted yours is thurs, sorry on iPhone! Best of luck, lucky you over the nausea & tiredness- congrats!

MeltedMoments · 27/02/2012 13:23

Hello again, I'm new to this thread but did post on the original thread back when we were getting BFPs.

I had an early dating scan a week or so ago and am now 9+3, due on 28th September. I already have 2 dd's... 8 and 5.
I don't get a 12 week scan on the NHS because I have opted out of the nuchal tests (got the dating scan instead) so I have booked a private scan when I'll be 12+2. It happens to fall on Mother's Day and I'm so excited!

I had a MC in the summer at 10+0 hence me not posting til now. My scan last week was all fine so I'm feeling more confident than I was but I'm still petrified I will MC again.

Look forward to getting to know you all.
